It's been SO long since I wrote something. The lovely luna2034 on tumblr sent me a request and since she's been such a sweet and patient reader that I tried to dust off some of my brain cobwebs for them. Now that I have a little more free time I night slowly get back into writing.

Hope you like it and enjoy it! Don't foget to R&R!

Bunnymund had always felt a little conflicted about Easter. He always felt like he was about to burst of joy when seeing the radiant faces of the children when they found the little googies that he had painstakingly worked on and hidden and a rush of belief magic always made him feel a little lighter and elated, knowing that the hope was once more renewed.

Alongside those sensations, then came crashing down the awareness that despite being an immortal being he was very much corporeal and tied down by bodily necessities. His taut muscles finally had a chance to relax and made him conscious of how sore and tired he was, the adrenaline slowly would give way and make him feel how heavy his entire body felt while making his way back to his warren. His satchel, though now considerably empty, would dig into his shoulder and make him grumble all the way back.

His tired eyes closed further with every mile and now he could no longer suppress the deep yawns that he had been holding back for weeks now, while bent over his desk.

His joints felt stiff from holding brushes for hours on end and his paws were not free from streaks of paint (which would take a few days for him to wash off his fur).

His stomach gave a low grumble as he was halfway down the path to his cottage. His diet left much to be desired on the weeks prior to Easter, as did his shoddy sleep schedule but the nervous energy would always drive him into a frenzy and his gut would go up in knots, making it impossible for him to properly eat.

He was a mess and probably the lack of contact with his friends didn't help, but on the weeks prior to Easter he simply couldn't afford any distractions. The routine was kept simple: get up before dawn, prepare the eggs and chocolate for Easter, manage inventory and distribution on neat batches to make the big day run as smoothly as possible (although something always came up unexpectedly), go to bed. Rinse and repeat.

Neither did he want anyone to see him as such a nervous wreck. He also wasn't the most patient on Easter time. He already have a no-nonsense policy and a short-temper to match. If he lost it with any of the other guardians, he feared he might cuss them out of the warren and things would be unnecessarily tense for weeks.

He worked alone and he liked it that way.

Aster sighed heavily when the cottage came on sight. Right now, his messy yet comfy bed was the only thing he could think of, his body already prepared to not rise for at least a few days.

A loud scream and the sound of things smashing and breaking against the ground brought him out of his musings and sent him on a fast yet soundless sprint to cover the rest of the distance, boomerangs already prepped to face any assailant that had managed to sneak into his warren and past the egg-sentinels. His body was already tensed tauter than a violin string and all traces of good mood evaporated.

Of all the things he expected to see, his work desk and the surrounding area completely upside down and a tooth fairy covered in paint was not one of them. The floor had not survived the falling paints containers and the shelve where their formerly rested was now on the floor, glass and paint brushes scattered on the floor.

"What the hell happened here?"

She looked up guiltily, like a child who had been caught something she shouldn't and offered him a sheepish smile to try to appease him.

"Ummm…Spring cleaning?" she declared with hesitation, looking completely ridiculous with her face and feathers splashed with a different array of colors.

His surprised expression then gave way to a tired and angry looked and she winced. He looked pissed.

Biting her lip, Toothina pushed down the need to fly out and hide in the deepest hole she could find and never come out again.

She felt her face grow hot as his stare pinned her down, so any plans of escape were out the window.

She felt a bit relieved when he holstered his boomerangs back into their sheaths. Good, he might be planning on not killing her yet for disobeying his request for everyone to stay away.

"Sheila…you have exactly one minute to explain.", he ordered calmly despite his expression not giving in for even a second.

"Bunny….listen.", she hesitated. "Hear me out first before you throw something at me. I know you said that you didn't want anyone here...but you hadn't cleaned your house in…months?"

The grumble that came from his throat indicated that he was not at all happy with her line of questioning, making her stomach turn.

"I know you were really busy with Easter preparations and didn't have the time to clean", the tooth fairy continued. "I know it takes you weeks to catch up with the cleaning and organizing of the warren once your body's recovered. I don't get to see you for almost a month after Easter!"

His only response was to arch an eyebrow, and she could bet without a shadow of a doubt that a migraine was starting to form between his temples.

"So I thought that if I could give you a hand you'd be able to rest better and not worry about it. I promise I was planning to be gone before you got here. I think I got a little too wrapped up in cleaning"

"This is your idea of cleaning?" he waded a paw at the splattered paint and the broken glass. "For eggs sake, sheila, it took me weeks to make some of that painting!"

"I know, I'm so sorry Aster". She tried to get up, glass crackling underneath her as she moved.

"Watch it, you colossal walnut!" Bunnymund moved faster that she could ever account for, carefully lifting her up and brushing away any shard that had landed on her feathers. "You could get hurt.", sounding more upset at the idea of her getting cut from one of the broken pieces than for his precious paint now being waisted on his cottage wooden floor.

At least he cared, she guessed. But Toothiana could not help but pout at him calling her such a thing. "Did you just call me a walnut?"

It would have sounded more threatening if one of her head feathers, heavy with wet paint, had not gotten stuck to her cheek with a loud splat sound, leaving a spot of yellow on her face.

"A colossal one to be precise, your highness.", the pooka corrected her while smoothing her feathers away from her face, unable to hold back a chuckle at how adorable she was while mad. "You did a fine mess, sheila, and the last thing we need is you getting hurt."

She could have thought of a nice comeback, had it not been for her brain finally catching up to how close he was holding her, how caring his eyes, voice, and body language had become, and how all of this was making her feel.

Her face felt hotter, and her heart started to pick up the rhythm, her words utterly failing her now.

He sighed. "Go take a bath before the paint dries out and is harder to get off them nice feathers of yours."

She couldn't move. Not only because she was rooted to the spot by those warm eyes of his, but also because he had not yet let her go.

Bunnymund chuckled.

"Wh-what is?"

One of his paws lifted her chin, making their eyes meet fully and her breath got stuck on her throat.

"Yellow suits you, sheila" he murmured in a deep voice, his eyes now glancing at her cheek which was still covered in wet paint.

She thought she was about to melt when he looked at her like that but as he slowly lowered his face to her, she could have fainted. They had never been this close before, despite them dancing around their mutual attraction for years now and never in her wildest dreams had she thought she would find herself in this situation.

She remained perfectly still as his face was inches from hers, his gaze holding hers captive and that damn smirk not falling even for a second. She swallowed hard.

Her breath hitched once more as his face slowly veered left, his cheek delicately rubbing against hers. The warmth spreading from the point of contact, and the scent of flowers, grass, and chocolate filling her nose and making her head swim. Toothiana couldn't help but closed her eyes, reveling on their closeness and how delightful it was.

Toothiana was unable to open her eyes until she felt his face retreating. He was smiling down at her, a bright yellow stain on his cheek.

She felt rather disappointed when he unwrapped his arms from around her, gently spun her around and ushered her to take a shower and get rid of all the paint.

Only when she was securely locked in the bathroom, she allowed herself to lean her back against the door, a hand brushing against her cheek where they had touched. Her other hand rested against her beating heart, unwilling to ease its wild pace.

For teeth's sake, he was going to be the death of her.

Bunnymund grinned while he heard the water running, glass shards already picked and disposed of safely.

He had only intended to tease her and call her an idiot. He had no idea where the rest of their interaction came from. He simply had felt brave enough to make a move and the idea of driving her as wild as she did him, had spurred on this bolder approach of his.

He had felt her heartbeat going as fast as his and had giving her plenty of room to push him away had she found her advances unwanted.

Her wide eyes, parted lips and uneven breath had emboldened him, making him feel playful and mischievous. He had desperately wanted to kiss her then and there but opted for teasing her as a small form of payback for making such a mess of his house.

If his instincts were correct, the kiss would happen sooner rather than later. He had wanted to confess for a while now but never had the right opening to do it and a small doubt had always held him back. Now said hesitation seemed ridiculous.

He placed a paw against the cheek that still sported the yellow spot. His smile grew wider as he finally came to a solid resolve: he was going to tell her how he felt.

This Easter might prove to be the best of them all.

Short but sweet, just to start getting back the hands of things. Hope you liked it and take care out there in the real world!
