Chapter Two

In the lower chambers of Final Egg, E-102 Gamma was in the midst of target practice, shooting down fake targets with his hand gun. It had been ages since he first came on line, since that day, he'd served Robotnik loyally and had honed his combat skills.

Gamma awaited the day he would be sent out to fight the one the doctor despised, the one who smashed robots and oh so rescued animals from within their mechanical confines. Gamma yearned to fight the legendary Sonic the Hedgehog, Robotnik's most hated nemesis in the world.

Robotnik despised Sonic and his friends with the fury of a thousand nuclear explosions, he'd repeatedly vowed that he would annihilate the pesky hedgehog, even though Robotnik had never fulfilled his promise yet. But one day, the doctor would succeed in beating Sonic.

Just as Gamma was about to blow up another fake target, his sensors detected a chiming sound and deactivated his gun. The red and black robot turned around, standing at attention as Robotnik emerged from the elevator, accompanied by a bulky red-black robot with red eyes.

"Omega..." Robotnik said, gesturing to the large robot and to Gamma, "This is your big brother, E-102, codenamed Gamma. As his number suggests, he is the second in my line of loyal E-Series robots, and he is part of my Egg Carrier crew."

"It is above all honors to meet the unit designated as Gamma." Omega buzzed, advancing towards his 'big brother'. "But be warned," He then added, "You consumer models will soon be outdated and phased out in favor of more advanced robots by the likes of me, E-123 Omega."

"That will be ways off." Robotnik stated firmly, "Gamma still has purpose just as you have purpose Omega, I will not allow you to annihilate him. I need Gamma just as much as I need the other E-series robots, you all serve a purpose in my grand designs for world domination."

"Affirmative! E-102 Gamma shall be left intact and functional for the time being, he has my respect and assurance I will not blast him to smithereens just as I blast furries to ash and will exterminate the hedgehog designated as Sonic!"

"I am starting to respect this massive robot that is my brother." Gamma remarked, feeling some form of relief that he was not about to be blown to smithereens by the massive robot that was essentially his brother.

"Perhaps you two should fight," Robotnik declared, "To see which of you is the strongest."

"Didn't you just tell me not to obliterate Gamma?" Omega asked.

"I said you two must fight, I did not say you could obliterate Gamma!"

Robotnik pulled out a remote control and pressed a button, causing Omega's body to become covered in blue sparks until they vanished. "I have just disabled most of your weapons systems to make sure nothing is obliterated, Omega." The doctor said as he backed away, "Good luck."

Gamma and Omega faced each other, both robots steadily prepared their weapons as they got ready to spar. Knowing that his weapon systems had been partially disabled, Omega was still eager to fight and somewhat prove to Gamma that he was superior to him.

"Target confirmed!" Gamma aimed at Omega and fired off a laser shot from his hand gun, Omega ducked to avoid the shot and ran around the room, looking for an opening in Gamma's armor to exploit all while Robotnik watched on from the shadows.

As Gamma turned around and targeted Omega, the bulky robot jumped off a wall and flew over the small red robot's head, activated his guns and fired off several shots at his foe. Omega rained down semi-live fire upon Gamma, aiming for him easily while Gamma was off guard.

"FIRING NEUTRALIZER MISSILE!" Omega declared and fired off a missile from one of his ports, the missile went for Gamma and landed next to him, exploding as soon as it hit the ground. Gamma stumbled backwards, short-circuiting but still functioning.

Just before the little red robot could get itself together, Omega fired a slightly charged shot on the ground near Gamma's feet and the red robot crashed into a wall. Gamma fell to its knees, still intact but stunned and disoriented from Omega's attacks.

"TARGET NEUTRALIZED!" The bulky robot declared, "OMEGA IS SUPREME!"

Robotnik stepped forward, pressing another button on the remote control that apparently caused Omega's systems to reactivate fully. Gamma rose to its feet, slowly approaching Omega and the mad scientist, still functioning but dazed after the intense match it had just gone through.

"Nice job, Omega." Robotnik complimented, "Sure you almost damaged Gamma, but there's not a scratch I can't fix. He will be recharged and upgraded, you've proven to be one of my most valued creations above your brothers, there is room for you on the Egg Carrier."

"D-Doctor!" Gamma stepped forward, a sound of uncertainty in his voice.

"Have no fear, Gamma." Robotnik said, "You can still come along, there is use for you."

"Shall we board the Egg Carrier, doctor?" Omega asked.

"Of course, Omega. We're just about to depart, my latest genius plan is in motion."

"I am coming along, Doctor Robotnik." Gamma buzzed, standing at firm attention.

Robotnik headed for the elevator to leave the room as Omega and Gamma followed, despite their differences and having just fought each other, the two robots were well-aquatinted for the time being. But yet, little did Gamma know that fate would soon have different plans for him...
