Hey everyone, it's been a while. I'm so sorry for not updating in, like, two years for some of these MHA fics of mine. There's been a few reasons for that that I wanna explain. Before I get into the reasons why I've been gone, I just wanna state that none of my fics are dead. I will get back to them soon, so don't worry about that. Some fics will have their earlier chapters rewritten but I'll announce it on said fic once I do the rewrites.
First off, without going into detail, I've had a lot of things going on in my life that I needed to take care of before I could even think about writing. I can't say that they're settled, but I managed to find some time to at least write out this message.
Secondly, I've sorta fallen out of love with MHA. Again, not something I'm going to go into detail on, but simply put I've been left unsatisfied with how canon's going. I love the characters and setting though, hence why I'm still writing fanfics about MHA, but I've definitely felt less motivated to write as a result of canon's direction. I guess I'd say I have franchise fatigue? I don't know XD. I still plan on writing my fics tho so don't worry about that.
The third thing I have to say leads itself into the second point and it has to deal with one Katsuki Bakugo. Simply put, I hate his character. I won't go into details as to why I do because the anti-Bakugou side of Tumblr can easily tell you why, but I hate him and there's nothing anyone can say to change my mind. Why is this relevant? Well initially I was worried about how I'd portray Katsuki in these fics. I didn't want to bash him, but I also didn't want to write him more than I had to. I wanted my fics to be accessible to everyone. However, I've learned that you can't please everyone. At the end of the day, I want to write the stories I want to and Katsuki's character isn't needed for these fics. Will Katsuki be bashed in my fics from now on? Depends on what you consider bashing. For most fics, Katsuki will be written out of the story in what I believe is a tasteful manner (a callout followed by expulsion, but what he does after is left a mystery so if people wanna head-canon that he's redeeming himself, that's totally valid). "Immortality Sucks" and "Resurrection Isn't Fun" are two examples of this. Some will involve him getting his ass kicked alongside the callouts, "Lunar Knight" and "Izuku Midoriya: The Blue Beetle" for example, but I won't do anything distasteful like some other Katsuki bashing fics do where it reads like murder porn. Other stories will have him be buried in the background, "The Great Old Ones" being an example. Basically, at the end of the day, I don't like Katsuki and I ask that you respect that. I have no issues with people liking Katsuki but his Stans (not his fans, fans are cool) have proven themselves to not be friendly to those who don't like him. I had a 24 year old manchild insult me on one of my fics cause I made it so that Izuku didn't take the bullying lying down. I simply ask that, if you don't like my decision with Katsuki, then to please leave and not make a ruckus. I know he's a lot of people's favorite so I thought it was only fair that I give them a warning before I continue with my fics. Now I do and will have fics where Katsuki is important and is portrayed as either a good friend (like in "The Power of a Hero) who gets character growth or as someone who gets knocked off his peg and redeems himself, but that's only in stories where I want him to be important. If not, then it'll follow the stuff I outlined before.
