Job

*Alarms Beeps*
Carmen opens her eyes and gets out of bed like a rabbit jumping out of a hole, gets everything ready, and rushes downstairs. She grabs her cheerios, bowl, and milk for breakfast, her Mom comes downstairs and talks on the phone.
"Thanks, mayor, I'll be sure that the mutants will be safe and that they feel right at home." She hangs up.
"Hi, Mom."
"Hi, what are you doing up so early?"
"First it's 10:00 am, second Joshua is trying to teach me how to gentle a horse."
"Which one?"
"Job."
"Why?" Her mom asks
"Because Joshua and Esther are thinking that he will be able to have someone to ride on him." Carmen answered
"Oh ok." Her mom said in an uncertain tone.
Her phone rang again and she answered
"Carmen, go inside the car, I'll be there for a minute."
Carmen ran and puts her bowl and spoon inside the sink. She was already inside the car and waiting for her Mom.
It took a while for them to go to the ranch. But before Carmen left, her Mom said.
"I won't be able to get you, so I'm sending someone to pick you up."
"Okay, Mom."
"I love you."
"I love you too."
Carmen ran to the barn and Joshua and Esther were outside, Esther said "Wow, you're up and ready."
"Yeah, I'm ready to go." Carmen said in a happy tone
"Ok, get Job out." Joshua said
Carmen nodded and went to get Job, who's stall is a bit closer to the entrance of the barn. "Hey boy." Carmen said and Job's ears are pointing at her. Job is 18 hands and above 2 inches which makes it harder for anyone to put a halter on him. Some of his bruises are being healed.
"Alright buddy, let's go."
Carmen brought him out and took him to the field, she switched the lead rope to a lunging rope and told him to walk on.
Joshua and Esther are standing on the other side of the fence.
Joshua asks "Ok, ask him to trot."
Carmen said "Trot, Job, Trot."
And Job did so, it took a while but Joshua and Esther got into the classroom and gathered the western saddle and told Carmen to stop.
Joshua had Job saddle up to see if he was able to ride on, but when he got on, Job began to be angrier than ever. So Joshua got off right away and told Esther "He's not ready for a saddle."
"I see that," Esther responds
"I have a feeling that whoever beat him up, he doesn't want anyone to go near him," Joshua said
Carmen felt sad for him but now it's time for her to leave; after they puy Job away, she waited for anyone that her Mom said to come to pick her up, but then she sees Job with other horses in the field.
Job gets along with other horses very well.
Job, however, looked at her and for some reason, Job and Carmen felt that they had connected even though they hardly met.
Suddenly, someone taps her shoulder.
"Hey, Carmen."
Carmen turns around and says "Gambit!"
"Happy Birthday, Carmen."
She and Gambit hugged, and Carmen quickly grab her things to get ready to leave, Gambit is like an uncle figure of the family. He has been in the family for years.
He saw Job and asked, "What's that horse's name?"
Carmen looked at Job and back at him, "His name is Job."
"Job? Job from the bible or the horse from the stories our parents talked about?"
"Both."
"Oh, come on kid. I'm going to take you home."
Carmen opened the car door and got inside the car and Gambit sat at the driver's seat, he drove off and talked to her.
"So, how's life in the copper state?"
"Great, How's the X-Men? Is Charles Xavier with you? Did you say 'Hi' for me?"
"Slow down, girl." Gambit smiled "The X-men are good and I said 'Hi' to Charles Xavier for you."
"But are there any problems too? About humans and mutants?"
Gambit figured what she was talking about but he said "There are problems but we'll handle it."
Gambit drove her to her house and parked the car in front of the house. Gambit rang the doorbell and Carmen's mom opened it. "Hey, Briar Rose!"
*Briar Rose complains*
"Aww, is that the way you treat your friend?"
"You stole my money." Briar Rose said in a stern tone.
"Yes, but I paid you back right?"
"4 dollars and a KitKat candy bar."
"It's the thought that counts." Gambit did a nervous smile
"Whatever, get inside."
Carmen and Gambit walked in and Gambit asked Carmen "Did your party go as planned?"
"Yeah, but how come you weren't there?" Carmen answered
"Sorry, we had a little problem with the whole mutants and M.R.D."
"Oh." Carmen looked down sadly
"Did you convince the mutants to come to Arizona or Xavier's mansion?" Briar Rose asks
"Xavier's, yes. Arizona, no."
"Why?" Carmen ask
"Some people are afraid to come, Carmen." Gambit answered
Carmen tries to change the subject. "So, what's it like in New York?"
Gambit sat on the couch and looked at her and said "Oh it's great but enough about me, what's it like to be 20 years old?"
"Uh, I don't know?"
"Come on you're an adult now, go out and see the world!" Gambit exclaim
"How can I, I mean I don't have enough money."
"You'll find a way."
*Briar's phone rings*
"Hold on, it's the mayor." Briar Rose said
"So, did you get a present for me?" Carmen ask Gambit
"Um...let's see, I'll be right back." Gambit said
He got up and went to his car, Carmen waited for him but soon sees her mother upset about something.
"What's wrong Mom?"
"It's Victor Von Doom, he's set up a meeting with the mayor."
"Why are you even working with him?"
"The mayor thinks that he can help us bring mutants to Arizona to live with humans in peace."
"How?"
"Donations, Transports, but I have a feeling that he is just doing those things to make him look good about himself in front of everyone." Her mother answered
"Oh."
"How's Job?" Briar Rose ask
"He's good, but Joshua thinks that he's not ready for anyone to ride on him." Carmen answered
"Then what are they going to do?"
"I don't know, but I hope that they don't give him away."
"Happy Birthday, Carmen." Gambit came in and gave her a cowgirl's hat.
Carmen got up from the couch and said "Whoa, it's beautiful."
"Yeah, your father knows you're a horse person, he wants me to give this to you."
(Gambit became an uncle figure because of her father, they have been best friends but Gambit never knew why her father left.)
"He did?" Carmen said
"Yeah, I got to go, Xavier wants me back." Gambit gave his goodbye
"Gambit, thank you." Carmen gave her gratitude
He nodded and left, Carmen told her mom that she is heading upstairs to sleep, Carmen couldn't figure why Job wouldn't let people ride on him, but if he continues this, he must be given away. Maybe if Joshua lets her, she can ride on Job.
The next mourning, Carmen told her Mom that she can go to Horseland Ranch to ride on Job, she agreed and took her there but before Carmen got out of the car, her Mom said: "Carmen, don't talk to Doom and if he says anything to you, stay quiet and say 'no thanks'."
"I understand, Mom"
Carmen went to see Joshua and told him about Job.
"I'm not sure." Joshua said
"Please Joshua, nobody rode on him because he doesn't trust us, but whenever I go near him he stares at me and follows me wherever I go."
"Maybe it's because of the hay dust on your shirt and he's trying to bite your shirt." Joshua laughed
"No, he did that once but no." Carmen replied
"Are you sure, because I don't want you or Job to get hurt."
"Please, Joshua."
"Fine, saddle him up."
Everything is set, Carmen is already on Job, she walks him around the field, climbs up the short mountain, and weaves the cones.
"Ask Job to trot." Joshua instructed
"Trot, Job. Trot" Carmen said
Job did so, and he trotted in a straight line, and Carmen stopped Job. Job has his ears pointed forward as if he had fun, Carmen pets him on his shoulder.
Joshua clapped and said, "You did good, Walk him around a little bit, I got to go inside and answer the phone in the house."
Carmen walked Job around, and Job simply goes wherever she wants him to go. Suddenly, Job's ears picked up something and heard the sound of a car parked next to a curb, but for some reason, Job is trying to see that car. But there is a gate inside the ranch that separates the barn animals and the entrance.
"Job, stop that." Carmen said as she struggles to control him, Job sees the entrance of the gate and has an idea.
"Job, turn around." Carmen said as she pulled her left rein to turn him away from the gate. But when they went far from the gate, Job began to run towards it.
"JOB, STOP!" Carmen shouts but Job jumps over the gate.
"JOSHUA! ESTHER! HELP!"
Joshua and his wife Esther comes outside and they see Carmen trying to control Job.
Joshua shouted "Emergency dismount!"
But Carmen couldn't because Job raised to front legs up in the air. The driver is unaware of this because he's is hearing music, reading a map, and begins to leave, Job puts his hooves down and ran towards the entrance.
"JOB, WAIT!" Carmen shouted and Job jumps over the entrance. He lands on the street and Job chases the car while Carmen is trying to pull him back.
The driver, however, sees Job from the rearview mirror and recognized him and drove faster, Job charges the car and heading closer.
The driver sees this and heads to the main street, Carmen gave up on the reins, Job catches up and runs next to the driver on the left. The driver is in shock and fear.
Job looked at him and he is angry, breathing hard and he looked at the driver with rage in his eyes. The driver looked at Carmen and he is confused. She waved in embarrassment and only said "Hi, I'm sorry."
But the driver pulled out his gun and aimed at Job, he said in a German-language "Geh weg, du dummes pfred!" (Get away, you stupid horse!)
"No!" Carmen shouted
But when the driver shot Job, his skin deflected his bullet. Carmen sees this and she is in wonder.
The driver is surprised but upset.
Unknowing, they all didn't notice that they are heading towards a highway that has two streets. The shooter went on the right side and Carmen and Job went on the left. Job is aware of the cars heading towards them, so he gets out of there way.
They looked at the end road and sees the two roads coming together, Carmen and Job noticed that soon they'll be next to the shooter again. Job is prepared and ran as fast as he could, Carmen stayed calm but notice that Job is beginning to jump over the street that the shooter's on.
"Job, don't jump!" Carmen said
But he has his eye on the shooter and heads towards the right side of the street.
"Job?!"
Job charged and jumped off, the shooter sees this and quickly moved forward, and aside from other cars, Carmen scream and held herself close to Job and he landed on the spot that the shooter used to be. Job is now heading closer to the shooter, the shooter found a tunnel with lights on the ceilings.
The shooter plans to go there and Job follows him and went fast enough to go next to him right.
When they got into the tunnel, a wall is next to Carmen and Job and the shooter notices it too, he tries to push Job to the wall. Carmen sees this and picked up her right foot. She didn't what to do.
Job begins to put his hooves on the wall and continues to run after the shooter, Carmen said: "YOU CAN CLIMB ON WALLS!"
The shooter is astounded but sees the exit and there are no cars around.
Meanwhile, people who are driving around them are shocked to see Job running on the wall.
Two kids in one of the cars took a picture and a teenager took a video and post it on every social media.
Carmen tries to steer Job but he refuses her, the shooter presses the accelerator and the car went towards the exit.
Carmen looked ahead and sees that there are no walls beyond the exit.
"Job, stop! Please!"
But Job found a landing spot to get back on track and jumps on it and chases the shooter.
Suddenly, Carmen hears the sound of the police sirens and looks back and sees police officers coming after them.
"Stop your horse!" the cop said using his radio speaker, he drove behind her, some cops surrounded her.
"Sorry, sir! Job is after that guy who is shooting us!" Carmen answered
The shooter sees this and turns around to look and brought his gun out and aims at the cop on Carmen's left side.
Carmen saw this and said, "Look out!"
Job hears her and sees the gun, Carmen grabs the reins and moves to the left side, and Job's skin deflected the bullet and it hits the ground. Saving the policemen.
Every cop's eyes widened and one of the cops said, "We have a 10-71 and a 10-91. Shooting and a stray horse! There's also a girl on the horse chasing the shooter!"
"Verdammt! (Darn it)" the shooter curses.
Then he notices an exit of the high way, Job and Carmen notice it too.
They all went towards, Job tries to go after him but he became tired. "Ma'am, please stop your horse!" the cop said on her left.
But before Carmen said anything, Job did something exor, he turns himself invisible, even Carmen and the saddle.
The cops were confused and press the breaks. They came out of the car and search for Carmen and Job. A bit far away, hiding behind an old gas station, Job and Carmen are now visible, Carmen dismount and land on the ground.
"What just happen?" Carmen whispers
Job looks at her and back to see if the cops or that shooter are around.
"WHY DID YOU CHASED THE SHOOTER?!" Carmen shouted
Job looked at her in an angry face and cause her to be quiet, he shows her something by using his snout, Camren looks and sees the cops left. Carmen took a deep breath.
"Good, the cops left, now let's go home." Carmen said but Job didn't move and he only stands where he is.
Carmen grabs Job's rein and tries to move him but Job ranks it away from her.
"Job, let's go!" Carmen shouted but he didn't listen.
Carmen is surprised and replied "Dude, you can not stay here.
Job looked around and sees the shooter that was hiding from the cops drove away, Job follows but Carmen steps in front of him and said to him, "No, I'm riding you and we are going home."
But Job uses his entire head to move her away but Carmen refuses.
"Why are you after him anyway?"
Job looks at her and showed her the bruises he had on his body after Joshua and Esther healed him.
Carmen's seeing this and realized that the driver may have beaten Job.
"That guy did that to you?"
Job nodded
Carmen looked at the area and notice a sign that 's above the highway said 'Exit of I-17'.
"I-17!, That takes us to Flagstaff!" Carmen said and ask Job "How fast are you?"
Job rolls his eyes and walks away from her, Carmen follows him and said: "You're not following him, he has a gun and even though you have powers, you don't know if he's with friends who are evil."
Job stops for a moment and looks at her and turns around, grabs her shirt with his mouth, and place her next to him. Carmen became aware that the stirrup is in front of her, she looked at Job and step on it and swung her leg over the cantle and set her left foot on the stirrup.
Carmen, however, looks at the I-17 highway and thinks about what her mother would think of this but on the other hand, she can't leave Job alone.
"Alright, we'll go after the shooter but turn invisible, we don't want anyone's attention of us."
Job agreed and turned invisible.
(Meanwhile)
"What do you mean 'she gone'?!" Briar Rose shouted
She talked on the phone with Joshua and Esther, ever since Carmen is gone, Bryer Rose has been scared.
"Is there any information on where she is?"
"No, I'm sorry." Joshua said
"It's alright, I already called the cops, they'll find her." Briar Rose hung up.
Adam looked at his wife and "Is she alright?"
"I don't know, they couldn't tell how fast they were and they can't catch up with them."
Briar's phone rings and sees the name and she is surprised but kept calm.
"It's Victor Von Doom."
Adam nodded and Brair answers the phone.
"Hello?"
"Hello, Briar Rose how are you?"
"I'm good, how are you?"
"I'm fine and thank you, I hope that you are ready for the meeting with your mayor. I paid very well for the donation of the mutant transports."
"Don't worry, I'll be there." She answered
"Very well, I'll see you soon."
"Thank you, Goodbye." Briar Rose said
"Goodbye." Victor hung up
Briar Rose sighs and sits down with Adam comforting her.
Adam turns on the T.V. and it shows James Jonah Jameson is on screen.
"This is Daily Bugle News, today Senator Kelly makes his statement of mutants, we bring it to you live right now."
Senator Kelly stands in front of the crowd and said, "Mutants are a threat to humanity, outcasts, less important. They have no rights and they should be contained or controlled. This is why I will convince president Stan Lee to pass the registration act to pass."
Briar Rose is angry and said, "Is there anything else on the news than this."
James Johna said, "We interrupt this live video with breaking news, a teenager posted a video of a girl riding on a horse and chasing a driver who is shooting them. Not only that, when they got into the tunnels; the shooter tries to push them to the wall, and unbelievable, the horse is running on the wall! And because of the lights in tunnels, we can't tell who she is!"
Briar Rose and Adam got up and recognize that girl riding on the horse.
Briar Rose and Adam said "Carmen!"
(Back Carmen and Job..)
Job took Carmen to the Grand Canyon National Park and they hide behind a big rock.
They see the shooter going down to a path and Carmen is curious. "Why is he at the Grand Cayon?"
Job shrugged and they kept on following him while Job is invisible with Carmen.
When they heard the shooter stop his engines, he parked at the end of the hill. Carmen and Job stop moving but stayed on top of the hill so they can see, she got off of Job, and stop being invisible a minute, then they saw something shocking.
They see a campsite that has trucks and cars and a big tent next to the tractor-trailer with guards and scientists doing experiments, their uniforms are dark with helmets on their heads and their shoulder gear has a symbol of a red skull with nine snakeheads.
"I know who they are, they're Hydra!" Carmen whispers
Job picked his ears up and looked at the shooter and notice that he is waiting for someone, Carmen went a little closer; including Job and saw someone approaching towards the shooter. He has a bald head with a scar on his right face and a monocle on his left eye. He wears a dark green uniform and has a robot arm.
Carmen remembers him, looks at Job, and said, "That's Baron Stuker, my mom told me about him, Captain America fought him, how old is he?"
Job and Carmen see them leave and Carmen said: "Ok, let's go home get the cops."
But Job didn't move but instead, he wants Carmen to look again and Carmen turns and sees a little girl there, trying to escape from a Hydra guard and he puts her inside the tractor-trailer and Carmen became scared for her.
Carmen brings out a red bandana that's inside her shirt, Job taps on Carmen's shoulder as if he is saying 'How did you get that bandana?'
"I got this bandana from my grandpa, I always put it under my shirt for flies or dust." Carmen answers
Carmen puts it on, gets on Job and they both turned invisible. They walked down to the campsite and heard a sound of drilling and they see a mining operation, and it seems to be vibranium due to the strong ringing sound.
Carmen is shocked and got off of Job quietly, but holds on to the reins, to stay invisible, they found the truck that keeps the little girl inside and it is next to the tent.
They peeked inside the door and sees the shooter and Baron Stucker having a conversation.
"Hans, what do you have to report?"
"It's that horse that we captured, Job! He and a girl were after me, climbing on the wall and turning invisible!" The shooter, Hans, said with a German accent.
Baron Stuker said, with his hands together and thinking, "Were you followed?"
"No, sir." Hans answered
"But that horse will come, order the guards to shape up and be aware of Job, tell the miners to hurry up with that vibranium!"
Carmen and Job step away as Hans leaves the tent.
"Job stay here, I'll go and get that poor girl."
Job nodded but Carmen walked him a little to get closer to the truck, she kept an eye on the guards, lets go of the reins and she no longer invisible, she opened the truck door and quickly climbs in the truck.
When Carmen turns around, she sees the girl in front of her and her fist in front of Carmen, and surprisingly she has two sharp metal steel claws coming out from her fist. Her hair is dark brown and brown eyes, white skin. She puts on a brave face but Carmen can see the fear in her eyes. Age seems to be 10 years old.
"Wer bist du?" (Who are you?) she said in German
Carmen puts her hands up in surrender and said, "It's ok, I'm here to help", Carmen slowly stands up, "I don't speak German but I'm to help you."
The girl stepped back and spoke English.
"How do I know that I can trust you?"
"I came here to help you and free you, that's what good people do."
The girl lowered her arms and at the same time, her metal claws went back inside her arms.
"What's is your name?" She question
"Carmen." Carmen answered and continues "How did you get here?"
"They captured me, they don't like me." The girl said
"What your name?"
"X-23." the girl said
"X-23, huh?"
She nodded and Carmen turned to the door to see if any guards are coming.
Carmen whispers, "Job!, Job, where are you?!"
X-23 came next to her and said "Who's Job?"
Carmen looked at her and answers, "He's..my horse."
Carmen looks outside and sees Baron Strucker coming towards the truck. Carmen and X-23 didn't know what to do but before Stuker opens the door, he found himself pushed away by an unknown force.
The girls looked out and Stucker said, "Prepare to fire!"
The guards came in front of the doors and Strucker moved out of the way at the right side of the truck.
Carmen and X-23 don't know what happen, but Job stopped being invisible and reviled that he is between the truck and of every Hydra agent.
Shocked and surprised; Stucker raise his hand up and swing it down and said "FIRE!"
The guards were shooting Job but his skin deflected every bullet, X-23 is surprised and shouted "He's your horse?!"
However, Hydra heard that and Baron quickly steps in and open the doors, and Carmen and X-23 were exposed, Job charged and fights off some of the Hydra agents.
Carmen is trying to figure out a plan but X-23 made a combat stance, she jumped up and kick the guard on her left and the guard on her right aims a gun at her but swung her leg and hits the gun. She brings both of her claws and swiped the Hydra agent's legs.
Carmen didn't know what to do but came down to help her.
"Do you know how to fight?" X-23 said
"No, this is my first time rescuing someone!" Carmen answered
While Job fights off the other Hydra agents, X-23 sees Baron Stucker, gets angry, and runs after him. Carmen sees this and runs after X-23, Camren stops her from running and said: "X-23, there's only three of us, we can't fight them."
"He's one of the people who gave me this!" X-23 shows her two metal claws but Carmen looks behind her and sees Job fighting Hydra in front of the vibranium, Job notices the sparkles are showing appearing from the vibranium.
Job eyes widen and ran toward Carmen and X-23, he bit X-23's shirt and swung her on his back.
Carmen tried to get on but Baron Strucker grabs her and pulls her down and throws her to the ground.
Job gets away from Baron Strucker and X-23 raised her fist and showing her claws, but Carmen shouted, "Job take her with you, GO!" Carmen stands up, quickly run to Job, and spanks his buttocks.
Job got angry and ran towards the exit.
"YOU!" Baron Stucker shouted
Carmen tuns and notice that he had a gun.
"You ruined everything!" he pointed at Carmen and a bullet came out, Carmen dodged but the bullet hits the vibranium.
*KABOOM*
Everything around the blast has been destroyed as the fire rages on to the air. Carmen sees this and tries to escape.
Some Hydra agents ran from the explosion and some ran to put out the fire to get the remaining vibranium.
Carmen ran to find Job and X-23 but then something grabs her by the arm, and she turned around to see Baron Stucker and tries to use his robotic arm to hit her.
Carmen kicked him on the face, he uses his hands to cover his face and she ran off. Baron Stucker remove his hands and called a Hydra agent to give him a gun.
He sees Carmen running towards the hill and he aims at her and fires the bullet.
Carmen didn't see the bullet because Job jumps in front of her and deflected it. "Job, you came back?" Carmen question but Job hits her with his snout, "Ow, why did you do that?", but Camren looks the hand dust on his butt where she spanked him, Job looked at her with an angry face and Carmen "Yikes."
X-23 brings out her hand, Carmen grabs it, steps on the stirrup, and swung her leg over and sat down in front of X-23 on the saddle.
"Go Job, GO!" Carmen grabs reins and Job ran. Baron Strucker said, "After them!"
Hydra went inside their cars, some even use jetpacks to fly after them.
Job, X-23, and Carmen are following the road the leads them home, Carmen said, "X-23, are they after us?"
She turned around and sees nothing at first but then she sniffs and said, "Watch out on your left!"
A Hydra truck drove next to them with a machine gun attached to it, there were a couple of big hills aside of the road. Job, sees the hill on the right and jumps very high. X-23 is shocked at what he did and told Carmen "He can jump very high?!"
"Yeah, he can do that and climb walls."
X-23 is astounded.
Carmen looked behind her and sees that they got away from Hydra truck, but then Carmen hears something from the air, she looked up a sees two Hydra agents with jetpacks and shooting them, Carmen uses the reins to dodge the bullets.
X-23 picks up her feet and Job's croup to prepare to jump. X-23 jumps on the closest Hydra agent, uses her claws and hit the gun and took off the jetpack. She bounced off the Hydra agent and he fell on the ground, X-23 lands on the next Hydra; hits the gun, took the jetpack, and uses it as the agent fell.
X-23 uses the jetpack to go to Carmen and Job, unstrap it, and sits behind Camren. Carmen said "Good one."
"Thank you, look out!" X-23 pointed her finger forward and they can almost see a group of Hydra ahead.
Carmen pulled the reins to have Job stop for a moment but they are close enough to see the Hydra agents aiming their guns at them.
X-23 sniffs and turns around and taps on Carmen's shoulder and she turns around and they see Hydra agents coming from behind. They're are surrounded.
Baron Strucker came out of the truck and has the radio speaker attached to the truck.
He said, "Jung Dame (Young Lady), surrender the girl and we'll leave you alone."
Carmen reply "Over my dead body!"
"I hate to do this but zu Schlecht. (Too bad)" Baron Strucker said and singled to prepare to fire.
X-23 said to Carmen "You could've chosen a better choice of words?"
"It's was the only thing I have to say right now." Carmen complained and continued "This has been a tough day for me."
"Wait, you can't shoot us, this horse can deflect bullets." X-23 challenges Baron
"Ture, except you can't."
"Opps."X-23 sadly reply
"Auf Wiedersehen!" Baron Strucker said
Carmen tried to find a way out but too late, Hydra surrounded them.
X-23 hugged Carmen because she is scared.
"FIRE!"
Suddenly, a plant vine came out of the ground and grabs Baron Strucker and raised him in the air, soon the rest of the plant vines came out and grabs the agents and raises them in the air.
Then Carmen, Job and X-23 heard sirens, police sirens. They surrounded the Hydra agents, X-23 brings out her claws but Carmen said: "It's alright, I know who sent the cops here."
X-23 looked at her and retreat her claws.
The police stepped out of the car and that made path for someone, and that person is Briar Rose. She can control plants with her powers too.
"Who is she?" X-23 ask
"My mother." Carmen said
They both got off of Job and Briar Rose lowers the plants and the cops arrested the Hydra agents.
Bryer Rose walked to Carmen and X-23 and stops in front of them. Carmen thought that her mom is upset but hold on to X-23 hand.
Carmen spoke "Mom, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to ride off with Job and he found the place where he has been beaten and I found this…"
Her mom hugs her and a bit of tears are coming out.
"Carmen, you are safe. That matters to me." Bryer Rose said
"How did you find me?"
"I use my powers to sense you, and its mother instinct."
Carmen hugs her back and said, "Mom, this is X-23."
Carmen moved away and show her mother X-23, who is a bit scared.
"Oh Hello, sweetie, nice to meet you."
"Mom, she a mutant, she was captured by Hydra."
"Ok, X-23 do you like to come with us?"
X-23 nodded and grabs Carmen's hand and walked to her mom's car.
"Mom, let me take Job and follow you."
But before Briar could answer, a cop approached to Job and tries to take the reins, but Job tries to get away and freaks out, X-23 sees this and ran in front of Job and brings out her claws.
The cop got scared but Carmen went in front of her and said, "Hey, it's ok, he is safe and so are you."
X-23 looks at her and puts her claws back inside her hands. Briar Rose is shock and X-23 looks at her and thought that she would be scared. Byer Rose walked to her and said, "It's ok, it's not your fault, come with me I'll protect you."
X-23 looked at Carmen, who nodded and X-23 took her mother's hand and they went to the car.
Carmen got on Job and rubs his shoulder and said, "Let's go home."
The next mourning, Job is back at the Horseland Ranch and Carmen got up and is ready to go, X-23 is eating cereal and Carmen runs downstairs and sees her Mom in the kitchen and made breakfast for her.
"Are you ready?" Briar Rose aked
"Yep, let me get my boots." Carmen said
Briar Rose waited for her then heard X-23 speak "They'll come after her you know."
"What?" Briar question
"Hydra; cut off one head, two more comes out. They are coming after me, then Job and her." X-23 answers
Briar Rose got worried and thinks of a plan.
Meanwhile, at the Horseland Ranch, Carmen dismounts Job and said to him, "You did an awesome job, boy." she rubs his shoulder.
Esther come in and said, "You did a great job and by the way, Joshua and I have a late birthday gift to you."
"Really?!"
"Yep."
"Hey, Carmen!" They both looked at the one who said her name. Susan Storm and Victor Von Doom are standing at the other side of the fence.
"Hey Susan, how are you?"
"I'm good."
"And Victor Von Doom, how are you?"
"I'm good, we are here to donate money to this wonderful land."
"Cool." Carmen said
Before Carmen ties Job up, Victor asks a question, "So, this is the famous horse Job, the one who climbs on walls.", Carmen rubs Job shoulder and said, "Yeah, say 'Hi' Job."
But Job looks at Victor Von Doom in anger as if he can't trust him.
Joshua and Esther went towards Victor and before they said anything, out of the blue, Victor said "How much is he?"
Joshua and Esther said, "What?"
"What?" Carmen said in shock too
Susan grabs Victor's shoulder because she is disturbed.
Victor replies "What, I just want to buy him, he's a rescue isn't he?"
Yes, but…" Joshua said
"Then how much is he?" Victor looked at him and they don't know what to do.
"He's my horse!" Carmen shouted
They all look and were surprised by what Carmen said.
"He's my horse, they gave him to as a birthday present." Carmen lied.
Victor at first looked upset but changes it and "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know."
Esther and Joshua, while being cautious, said, "Happy Birthday!"
Carmen looked at Victor said nothing and ties Job on the hitching rail. She untacks everything and before she puts him away.
"Carmen!" Victor shouts, she turns to see him and he said, "Happy Birthday."
Carmen replied, "Thank you."
He left and Susan waved goodbye.
"I'm sorry that I lied about 'me owning Job thing." Carmen told Joshua and Esther
"um..about that, Job is your pet horse, happy late birthday!" Esther said
Carmen is full of joy and her mom already picked her up, but when they got home, Carmen notice her stuff has been packed a is a woman sitting on the couch with long blonde hair with blonde eyebrows sliver lipstick, and wears all white clothing.
"Mom, who is this?"
"My name is Emma Grace Frost, nice meet you, Carmen."
"She has been my childhood my friend, and you'll stay with her." her mother answers
Carmen turn to her and said "Wait...why?"
"Because Hydra will get you." X-23 came to the living room and continues to talk "Go."
"What about Job?"
"He will come with you, Emma owns an indoor ranch." Mom said
"It's best for you, we'll be in New York City, and X-23 will be here." Emma said
"Are you sure?" Carmen said to X-23
Her Mom said, "I'll protect her and she feels that she not prepared for new places and people." X-23 nodded
With that, Adam puts Carmen's stuff in the trunk of a taxi and she is saying goodbye.
"Job's at the airport." Emma got off the phone and went inside the taxi.
"Bye Mom." Carmen said
"Bye sweetheart promise me that you will call, write, and video chat."
"Mom, I promise." Carmen said and hugged her and her step Dad, Adam, X-23 ran and hugged her and said, "Be safe."
"Alright." Carmen hugged back
So, she went to the taxi and waved her family goodbye. Carmen couldn't believe that she is leaving Arizona and now she wonders what will happen next.
