The D.E.O

Oliver sat in a room by himself as he thought about the picture he found in Lockwood's bunker, his mind racing as he thought about who the girl in the photo could have been. It couldn't have been a coincidence that Ben Lockwood found a doppelganger of Kara, but he wasn't sure how exactly the doppelganger fit into the current picture. He didn't get much time to think to himself when Barry entered the room, sticking his hands in his pockets and studying Oliver for a moment.

"You're quiet," Barry took another step towards Oliver and stood in front of him. "You've been quiet since last night. And I know you, which means that you're hiding something. So why don't you tell me what it is, so that I can help you?"

Oliver refocused his attention on Barry as he contemplated his dilemma. But he also knew that he couldn't keep this to himself. He had to tell someone.

"What I tell you stays between us," Oliver pointed a finger at Barry, Barry crossing his chest where his heart was in response. "Last night I found something while we were looking through Lockwood's bunker. That was the reason I told you and Kara to go upstairs."

"Okay, what did you find in the bunker?" Barry wondered. "It couldn't have been that bad."

"It was a picture of a girl," Oliver revealed after a few moments. "It was a girl that looked exactly like Kara."

"Are we sure that the picture wasn't Kara?" Barry shrugged. "I mean, she doesn't have a common face."

"Unless Kara has been in Kanzia, Russia for the last six months, I don't think it's her," Oliver leaned back in his chair. "That girl is a complete doppelganger of her. But I can't for the life of me figure out what Lockwood is doing with her, especially since he hates aliens."

"Okay, so if it's a doppelganger of Kara running around, then that means Kara needs to know," Barry said. "Did you tell her?"

"No," Oliver shook his head. "Alex knows, but I haven't had the heart to tell Kara yet."

"Wait, Kara has no idea that there's a person that looks just like her running around?" Barry furrowed his eyebrows. "Oliver, this is serious. If you don't tell her and something happens, then Kara is never going to forgive you."

"Judging from how you were acting back at Lockwood's studio, I don't see why you're concerned about Kara not forgiving me," Oliver scoffed.

"Because this is bigger than whatever is going on with you and Kara," Barry crossed his arms. "The entire balance of National City is dependent on this information."

"We don't even know if she's dangerous," Oliver countered. "For all we know, she could be a victim of Lockwood's too."

"I doubt it," Barry said. "They wouldn't keep her alive for six months unless it would help them. She's being used by Lockwood, and if my gut is right, that girl is connected to Kara. I don't care what you and Alex decided for her, but Kara needs to know."

"And what if I don't tell her the truth?" Oliver cocked his head to the side as Barry made his way to the exit.

"I'll tell Kara myself," Barry responded. "She shouldn't be kept in the dark about something as serious as this."

Barry turned on his heels and walked out of the room, leaving Oliver more confused in his thoughts than he was just a moment ago. He knew deep down he had to tell Kara the truth, but he wanted more information on the girl before he divulged everything he knew.

Barry walked through the D.E.O. as he tried to find Alex in order to tell her that her plan of leaving Kara in the dark was dangerous, especially since aliens were literally dying. But he was taken out of his thoughts when Felicity came out of one of the rooms, staring at Barry with confusion. She could tell that Barry was peeved about something, and while there were more pressing matters at hand, Felicity knew that Barry was no good to anyone if he was angry.

"Hey, there you are," Felicity smiled at him. "I was just coming to find you and Oliver."

"Well, if you need Oliver, he's in the room over there," Barry pointed with his thumb as he tried to walk past her. But Felicity wasn't going to stop the matter from being pressed so quickly.

"Hold on," Felicity placed a hand on Barry's shoulder, Barry turning back with interest. "What is going on with you and Oliver? You looked upset with him."

"Oh you mean Mr. Selfish over there?" Barry scoffed. "Yeah, I'm not exactly tickled pink at the moment."

"Barry," Felicity softly responded. "Come on, this is me that you're talking to." Barry realized that if there was someone that was going to understand what he was going through, it was Felicity. And truth be told, he did need some advice.

"Are you okay with Oliver moving on from you?' Barry wondered. "I mean, one minute he was pissed because you were going on a date with someone else, and the next minute he's head over heels for Kara." Felicity held the clipboard that she was holding close to her as she thought about Barry's question, finally deciding to elaborate.

"Well, I can't say that I'm thrilled that Oliver is dating someone else, but as long as he's happy then I'm happy," Felicity said. "I was the one that broke up with him and I told him that we should see other people. So he's just doing exactly what I told him to do. What I don't get is why are you upset that Oliver is dating Kara? They're both your best friends. I thought you would have been happy for them."

"It's not that I'm not happy for them," Barry sighed, leaning back on the wall while appearing defeated. "I want Kara and Oliver to be happy. I just worry that it's going to hurt the dynamic that we have now. The three of us were 'the superfriends'. Whenever one of us needed help, the other two had our backs. I'm just scared that…Oliver and Kara are going to leave me behind."

Felicity squeezed Barry's shoulder in reassurance, realizing that Barry was placing his insecurities on Oliver.

"Barry, Oliver and Kara could never forget about you," Felicity grinned. "Even though Oliver struggles showing it, he does care about you. You're the reason that they met. Without the Dominators, they would have gone all this time without knowing each other."

"Of course I had to introduce them," Barry muttered.

"Barry," Felicity couldn't help but chuckle before she continued. "If it wasn't for you, then Oliver and Kara would not be happy right now. I think that makes you a pretty good friend in my book. And you're thinking of the negatives. What if Oliver and Kara end up working out, and they eventually get married and the bond between the three of you is stronger than ever? Isn't that what you want from them?" Barry blinked innocently as he thought about it, realizing that Felicity was right.

"I guess that's one way to look at it," Barry admitted. He hesitated before giving Felicity a hug, one that Felicity was glad to reciprocate. "Thank you."

"You're welcome," Felicity chuckled. "Just remember that you don't have to feel insecure or think the worst. They're your friends."

"I'll remember that," Barry promised her. "Um, I have to go find Alex. There's something that I wanted to tell her."

"She's in her office," Felicity said. "But before you go, there's something that you need to know."

"What's that?" Barry asked, Felicity giving him a smirk in return.

"Lockwood is going to have a press conference this afternoon," Felicity said. "Seeing that Kara is already patrolling, I thought you and Oliver would have wanted in on some action." Barry nodded his head as he turned on his heels to tell Oliver, but the smirk on Felicity's face fell, and she even became concerned. She hoped that Barry was going to get over the insecurity he was having with Oliver and Kara. It would have been a shame if the three of them couldn't work together because of it.

The past couple of days had been a blur to Red Daughter. She had spent the last six months in Kanzia, Russia, training for the mission that Lex had told her was going to happen. But she wasn't sure exactly what she was supposed to do. All she knew was that she had studied Supergirl, from the way she talked, to the way she acted. Almost as if she was supposed to assume her identity of some sort. She was given the same hairstyle and the same suit to the point where people wouldn't question if it was their beloved hero. However, this part of the mission had Red Daughter conflicted. She had to kill a living being, which she had never done in her life. Still, wearing the Supergirl suit made Red Daughter feel as if she could do anything. She just wondered why Lex wanted her to do such a thing.

Red Daughter studied herself in the mirror while taking in the Supergirl outfit, as Lex entered the room. He paused for a moment as he realized just how much Red Daughter looked like his arch nemesis. That was when his lips curved into a smile.

"My goodness, you look exactly like her," Lex let out a chortle, which confused Red Daughter. "This might work."

"What might work?" Red Daughter raised an eyebrow, unsure of what Lex was getting at.

"Nothing, my dear," Lex waved her off as he continued to plot in his mind. "Okay, so Ben Lockwood is going to have a press conference, and that is where you are going to come in."

"Alex, I don't understand why you want me to dress like Supergirl and show up at Mr. Lockwood's press conference," Red Daughter innocently blinked as she still was confused by the mission. "What is so important?"

"Red, my dear, have I ever steered you wrong in the six months that you've known me?" Lex put his hands on Red Daughter's shoulders, seeing she was shaking her head in response. "I promise you that this is for the greater good. It's going to make the world a better place, and wouldn't you want to have your name etched in history for making the world a better place?"

"I suppose," Red Daughter still seemed uncertain, but she felt she could trust Lex. "Okay. What do I have to do?"

"I will give you the signal of when you are to show up," Lex gave her a smile. "And once you are there, everything will become clear. Okay?"

"Okay, Alex," Red Daughter nodded once more, Lex removing his hands from Red Daughter's shoulders and making his way out of the room.

"Excellent," Lex closed the door as he left Red Daughter in her thoughts again. She still didn't understand how she fit into all of this, but instead, she decided to look back in the mirror and observe herself.

She was going to make Lex proud. She was going to complete her mission.

Alex looked through her computer as she tried to figure out who on earth the girl that was in the photo was, and why she looked like Kara. She didn't like the idea of another Kara running around, but she couldn't tell Kara just yet. Especially since there was so much that they didn't know. As Alex continued looking through her computer, she heard a knock on the door, her eyes looking over and seeing Barry standing there with interest.

"Hey, do you have a minute?" Barry questioned, Alex motioning for Barry to come in.

"Sure, what's up?" Alex turned her attention back to the computer, not realizing that Barry was looking over her shoulder. He peered at the picture of Kara's doppelganger for a few moments before reverting his attention to Alex.

"Do you have any idea who she is?" Barry asked.

"No, we haven't figured it out yet," Alex sighed. "But I am working on it. Has Kara come back from patrol?"

"No, she's not back yet," Barry replied. "And with her not being back yet, I think now is the perfect time that we talk about Kara not knowing about her. I think she should."

"Barry," Alex let out a tired sigh, but Barry was going to continue pushing the issue.

"Do you think it's right that Kara finds out by running into her, or would it be better that she gets a heads up?" Barry weighed the options. While Alex agreed that Barry might have been right, she still wasn't sure on letting Kara know about her doppelganger.

"Barry, we have no idea who she is, or what her purpose is," Alex said. "I think until we figure out just who she is, we should hold off on telling her. It will be better that way. Besides, Kara already has a lot on her plate, with Lockwood killing alien after alien."

"But," Barry was about to continue on with his point, but Alex put her hand up, stopping Barry in his tracks.

"But, nothing," Alex ordered. "Listen, you may be The Flash, but I am running this operation. And I say that Kara shouldn't know about this girl. What you should be focusing on is preparing for the press conference Lockwood is holding later. We need all hands on deck in case there's another alien that needs our help. Got me?"

Barry was about to interject, but he knew that he was helpless against Alex. With that, Barry let out a sigh of defeat and put his hands up as if to say he was going to back off the subject.

"Crystal," Barry turned on his heels and left Alex's office, closing the door behind him. Alex turned back and continued typing on the computer, but she was questioning whether it was a good idea to have Kara in the dark about the mystery girl. She didn't want Kara to juggle another thing when there was so much on her plate. As she was about to turn off the laptop, she heard a ping, which caused her to look at the findings on the screen.

"No way," Alex muttered to herself, downloading the information on the computer. She still needed more, but what she found was a good start.

Oliver kept his eyes on the television as he saw a re-run of Ben Lockwood's talk show gracing the screen, and all he could do was feel his lips curl into a grimace. He wasn't sure what he was expecting with the press conference later that day, but he had to be prepared. He couldn't let Lockwood keep him off-guard, and he had to be one step ahead of him at all times. Oliver heard the window open as Kara flew down, finishing her patrol of the city. Kara let out a tired sigh as she saw Oliver sitting in the nearby chair, wondering if there was anything new that had occurred while she was gone.

"Hey, any news on Lockwood?" Kara dusted herself off as Oliver grabbed the remote and paused the screen.

"He's having a press conference this afternoon," Oliver revealed. "What he wants to talk about is beyond me. So how was the patrol? Save any old ladies or cats?"

"No, but I did save a snake from a tree," Kara chuckled, placing a hand on Oliver's shoulder. "The girl named it Fluffy."

"Fluffy for a snake?" Oliver chortled.

"Yeah. Just when you think you've seen everything, something comes up to surprise you," Kara smirked. Oliver couldn't help but chuckle at Kara's sentence, but in the back of his mind he felt guilty not telling Kara about the doppelganger. And the more Kara studied Oliver's face, she could tell that he seemed troubled. "Are you okay? You look off."

Oliver cleared his throat as he glanced at Kara with a small smile, finally deciding to push his guilt to the back of his mind.

"I'm okay," Oliver said. "Just tired. I've been preparing for this Lockwood press conference because I don't want him to catch us off guard."

"Hey," Kara placed her hands on Oliver's shoulders, giving him the most hopeful smile that she could. "I know you don't like to admit it, and I know it has to do with your dark facade that you put up for everyone, but it's okay to be nervous. We got this. As long as there are no surprises, then we should be well prepared."

"Yeah, no surprises," Oliver tried to reciprocate the grin, but he was finding it harder than he thought. "I just don't trust Lockwood."

"I don't either, but you, me and Barry got this, right?" Kara placed one of her hands on Oliver's cheeks, seeing that he was staring deep into her eyes. After a few moments, Oliver nodded his head and got up from his chair.

"Yeah, we got this," Oliver couldn't help but feel optimistic whenever Kara gave him one of her famous pep talks, but even he could see that she was a bit nervous with how the press conference was going to go. Still, he knew she got joy from bringing hope to others, and he would have been lying if he said he didn't feel a little more hopeful. "You always seem to know what to say."

"Well, it's literally my job to be hopeful," Kara chuckled as she brushed her thumb across Oliver's cheek. "I'm going to go and brief with Alex before the press conference, okay?"

"Okay," Oliver leaned down and gave Kara a chaste kiss before Kara took a step back and left the room. But as soon as Kara left, Oliver felt his shoulders slump. He was nervous that Kara was going to find out about her doppelganger and want more answers. But he was even more nervous that Kara was going to get hurt at the hands of Ben Lockwood.

And he just couldn't let that happen.

City Hall

Barry, Oliver and Kara had arrived at City Hall that afternoon after Alex had briefed them on their mission. While it was tempting to show up as three superheroes, Kara eventually decided that she was going to show up as a CatCo reporter, seeing that was how she had been able to get under Ben Lockwood's skin the last time. Oliver and Barry decided to follow suit, but they were prepared to quickly change into Arrow and The Flash the moment they sensed imminent danger. Kara was able to get Oliver and Barry press passes so they could sit with the other reporters, but when they peered at the crowd behind them, they were surprised that there were so many supporters of Ben Lockwood. The thought that so many people supported Lockwood's terrorism of aliens made Kara feel dejected. Barry and Oliver noticed the uneasy look on Kara's face, Oliver placing a hand on her shoulder in response.

"Are you sure you can handle this?" Oliver wondered, Kara turning around and giving a meek nod of her head.

"I don't have a choice," Kara said. "There's a possibility that this won't be a normal press conference. You saw that bunker. He and Lex are planning something, but what it is, I don't know."

"Don't worry, Kara," Barry assured her. "You're not alone. Oliver and I are here to help."

"I know you are," Kara felt a small smile tug her lips before her eyes focused on Ben Lockwood heading to the podium. The smile quickly disappeared, and she felt her eyebrows furrow, seeing that he was adjusting the papers that were sitting on the podium. Ben looked up and noticed Kara was sitting in the media section, causing him to purse his lips. He had remembered his last encounter with Kara, how she had challenged him every step of the way regarding his stance on aliens. He decided before his press conference to make his way to the media section, standing in front of Kara, Oliver and Barry with a smug expression.

"Well, if it isn't Kara Danvers," Ben kept his gaze on Kara as Oliver and Barry suddenly appeared protective of her. "Are you here to finally admit that aliens are the scum of the earth and deserve to be wiped from mere humanity?"

"No, actually, I am here because I wanted to see your press conference crash and burn," Kara firmly replied. "What you're doing is wrong. Aliens are living beings, and you're trying to get rid of them because of something that happened to you years ago."

"What are you talking about?" Ben furrowed his eyebrows.

"You hate aliens because you feel that aliens are the reason you lost your job and your home," Kara responded. "You are blaming an entire race on your own misfortune, and not only does that make you prejudiced, but it makes you a coward. I'm sorry that you had to go through losing your home, but that doesn't give you the right to destroy a whole race."

"Look at you, seeing the world only as black and white," Ben sneered. "They are causing problems for the rest of us, starting with Supergirl. I don't want to know how much the government has to pay every single time Supergirl does damage to our city. They're all bad. And I won't be happy until I get what I want: either Supergirl out of National City or dead. She doesn't belong here, and I'm tired of humans like you thinking that everyone should live harmoniously. So write whatever little op-ed you want about me, but at the end of the day, I will be victorious, because aliens will be extinct, and us humans can finally live in peace." With that, Ben turned on his heels and walked back to the podium, but Barry could feel Kara's anger. He placed a hand on Kara's other shoulder, but instead of reacting, she just kept her eyes glued to Ben.

"Kara," Barry softly said, Kara eventually snapping out of her anger. "Don't let him get to you."

"Yeah, he's not worth it," Oliver added. Kara finally let out the deep breath he didn't know she inhaled and went back to her notepad, jotting down some notes that she had regarding Lockwood. The three of them heard Ben tap the microphone, with everyone giving Ben their undivided attention.

"Thank you for coming out today, National City," Ben spoke into the microphone. "Since I last spoke, I have made plans. Plans that would make National City a better place. So I am proud to announce that I am officially running for Mayor of National City, where I hope to change this city's future for the better. And the first order of business would be getting rid of all aliens, including Supergirl."

"You can't!" Kara blurted out, everyone turning to her with confusion. Ben gave Kara a steely glare for interrupting his news, but all he did was give a hollow chuckle at Kara's incompetence.

"I can, and I will," Ben replied, his eyes going back to the crowd. "We are not going to let this city become what Metropolis has become. Look at Superman running around, destroying his own city in order to fool humans that he's a superhero. I'm not going to have that here. Supergirl must go, and I will do everything-"

Ben was interrupted when two figures had zoomed past him, earning horrified glances from everyone in the crowd. Kara tried to get a clearer view of the figures that were zooming by, with Kara realizing that when the person slowed down, it was…her as Supergirl. And Supergirl was holding what looked to be a defenseless human being.

"Supergirl, please don't do this," The man pleaded as Supergirl furrowed her eyebrows at the man, eventually throwing him into a car and the car blowing up in one fell swoop. Kara covered her mouth with her hand as Oliver and Barry realized that the 'Supergirl' was the doppelganger.

"We have to get out of here," Barry muttered, Kara turning her attention to Barry and Oliver in confusion.

"What…, who is that?" Kara pointed. But instead of getting an answer, Oliver and Barry rushed her away from the hordes of people that were in shock that Supergirl had killed a human being. That was all the ammo that Ben Lockwood needed, going towards the podium and pointing at Supergirl who was in the sky.

"Do you see that? If Supergirl can kill a human being, then that means none of us are safe!" Ben pointed to the air. "She is dangerous, and she must be stopped! I say we band together and finally say, 'down with Supergirl!'"

"DOWN WITH SUPERGIRL!" The crowd started chanting in response, Ben Lockwood turning his attention back to the three empty chairs that previously occupied Barry, Oliver and Kara. Ben looked at Supergirl flying away, all while letting out a sinister smile. If that didn't convince everyone to turn on Supergirl, then he didn't know what would.

Oliver and Barry led Kara as far from the scene as possible, all while Kara's head was whirring. She was trying to figure out what exactly she had seen, but she didn't get a chance to process it when Oliver and Barry snapped their fingers in front of Kara.

"Kara, are you okay?" Barry questioned, but as soon as Kara was able to find the words to speak, she pointed to the sky and felt her eyebrows furrow.

"What the hell was that? Where did she come from?" Kara wondered. "Who was she? And why was she dressed exactly like me?"

"We don't know who she is," Barry said, but Kara didn't believe Barry. That was when her eyes turned to Oliver, knowing that Oliver wasn't going to lie to her.

"Oliver, who was that?" Kara felt the anger course through her body, with Oliver realizing that she needed to know the truth. He didn't care if there were going to be repercussions later.

"Barry's right that we don't know who she is," Oliver sighed. "But, we know of her."

"Wait, what? What are you talking about?" Kara felt like the wind was knocked out of her when she realized Barry and Oliver knew of the girl.

"When we went into Lockwood's bunker, I saw a picture of her," Oliver said. "She's from Kanzia, Russia. She looks exactly like you and we were trying to figure out who she was or what her purpose was. Now we know."

"Who else knew of this?" Kara turned to Barry this time, seeing that Barry was biting his lower lip.

"Oliver, me and…Alex," Barry eventually revealed. After a few moments, Kara turned her attention back to Oliver, feeling even angrier than she was a few moments ago.

"You knew of her, and you weren't going to tell me?" Kara felt her voice crack as she stared at Oliver. "Oliver, how could you not tell me?"

"Kara, I was going to but Alex advised me not to," Oliver studied Kara's face expression, but all of the hope that Oliver was used to seeing on her face was gone. "Alex thought that you had a lot on your plate with the aliens dying, and…"

"And nothing," Kara cut Oliver off. "There was a doppelganger of me running around, pretending to be me, and you all thought the best plan would be to lie to me?!"

"We didn't know that she was going to pretend to be you," Barry argued.

"Of course, you didn't," Kara huffed, eventually taking a step back from the both of them. "I…I need to be by myself for a while."

"Kara," Oliver tried to take a step forward, but Kara put her hand up to stop him in his tracks.

"Oliver, just…don't. Okay?" Kara looked around and once she realized no one was watching, she flew up into the air and zoomed away from both Oliver and Barry. They both stared at each other with sadness, realizing that they had messed up. Now, Lockwood had convinced everyone with the Kara doppelganger that Supergirl was dangerous, and Kara was in a state where she didn't feel like forgiving her own friends.

"I have to find her," Oliver muttered. "This is my fault."

"Oliver," Barry sighed, seeing that Oliver had turned towards him. "I hate to say this, but maybe we're in too deep here. I mean, we have a man who is acting like a literal Nazi, and Kara now hates us because we kept something really huge from her. Maybe we should just pack it up and go home." Oliver thought about Barry's words before shaking his head, taking another step back.

"Kara brought me here specifically to help her," Oliver said. "I'm not going anywhere until Lockwood is stopped and Kara is safe." With that, Oliver turned on his heels and left Barry by himself, hoping that he could find Kara so he could apologize.

Luthor Corp

Red Daughter flew through the window of Luthor Corp after crashing Ben Lockwood's press conference, landing in front of the desk and biting her lower lip. She wasn't sure what she had just done, but she saw that everyone wasn't very happy with her regarding her part of the plan. Red Daughter turned on her heels and saw Lex Luthor enter the room, giving Red Daughter a proud smile. He had watched the entire encounter on television and was thrilled that everything had gone exactly as he wanted.

"That was the performance of a lifetime," Lex clapped his hands, Red Daughter appearing confused. "Everyone actually fell for the hologram human that you supposedly killed. I just hope the person's car that you destroyed has car insurance."

"Alex, I do not understand," Red Daughter furrowed her eyebrows. "Everyone hates me now. They assume I killed a human."

"Red, no, they don't hate you," Lex placed his hands on Red Daughter's shoulders. "They hate Supergirl. Trust me, what you're doing is helping everyone in National City see that Supergirl is the enemy. She's been a thorn in everyone's side for too long, and this was the only way everyone could see her the way we do. You did amazing.." Red Daughter still felt there was something off about making everyone hate Supergirl, but Lex had been so kind to her the last six months. She didn't want to bite the hand that helped her.

"If you are sure, Alex," Red Daughter said. Lex patted Red Daughter's shoulders before turning on his heels and leaving the office, while Red Daughter looked at herself in the nearby mirror. She decided to stare down at the Supergirl costume once more, but what Red Daughter didn't realize was that someone was watching her from the doorway.

That someone was Lena Luthor, and she had seen the entire encounter between Red Daughter and her brother Lex.
