New Student, New Friends?

Kaos' p.o.v

I woke up and stretched the next morning. My bed was upside down and on the ceiling, which is totally normal. Smiling, I hopped down to the floor and walked into the kitchen where Daddy was flipping hot cakes on the ceiling.

"Morning Daddy!" I happily called out.

Daddy turned to face me, a huge smile on his face. "Morning Kaos! I hope you're ready for school today!"

My smile faltered at that. "School? But aren't you going to homeschool me like before?"

Daddy stopped what he was doing and moved to eye level with me. "I'm sorry, I thought I told you. Fluttershy enrolled you in public school. It's been a thousand years since we last roamed the earth, a lot has changed."

I frowned, "Fluttershy?"

Daddy straightened up and beamed at me, "Yes! You remember her? She's one of my friends that I introduced you to last night. I hope you don't mind, Fluttershy is picking you up after school since I now work for the princesses and I'm leaving for an assignment. I'll be back for dinner though!"

I nodded slowly, guess I will be interacting with his new friends. I summoned a knapsack and headed out the door with Daddy. It was only a short walk to the kindergarten center.

"Bye son! See you tonight!" Daddy cheerfully waved bye.

I shifted uncomfortably, "Bye Daddy."

I then was led by a navy blue earth pony with bright neon pink mane and a cutie mark of smiling crystalized lilies. to my assigned classroom. I looked around all the other colorful pegasi, unicorns, and earth ponies that were my age. Frightened by the large numbers, I crept into a corner.

Crystal Lilly's p.o.v

I looked over my students smiling, "Alright colts and fillies. I want everypony to sit in the circle. I have a special announcement!"

I waited for the four and five year olds to gather before jumping in. "Alright, today we have a new friend joining us!"

A light blue with white mane and tail pegasus filly raised her hand. "Yes Ocean Breeze?"

"Where's our new classmate?" the little filly asked.

Blinking, I looked around for the young colt. He couldn't have gone that far… There! Kaos was curled up in an empty corner. I trotted over there with purpose.

"Kaos sweetie, don't you want to introduce yourself?" I asked the odd looking pegasus colt.

Kaos shook his head no. Huffing, I tried to think of a way to get the obviously shy pony out of their shell. That is easier to do if I know more about them, mainly likes and dislikes. Lost in thought, I didn't notice a light brown with dark green, almost black, mane and tail unicorn that's horn was unusually shaped. Instead of straight, it had a noticeable bend in the center, pointing downward instead of upwards like other unicorns. He walked up to us with Ocean Breeze right behind him.

"You okay? I know the first day of school can be really scary. My name is Shuffle Leap and this is my bestie Ocean Breeze. What's yours?" The unicorn introduced himself and his young pegasus friend.

Kaos eyed the duo before whispering, "Kaos."

Shuffle, well, shuffled closer. A grin on his face, "Sorry, I didn't catch that. Can you say that again but louder?"

Kaos nervously licked his lip before saying in a louder voice, "I'm Kaos."

Shuffle pumped a hoove into the air while Ocean giggled, "See! That wasn't so bad!"

Ocean piped up, "Hey, we are supposed to sit in the circle, why don't you sit next to us?"

Kaos tilted his head as he thought hard about what the two children asked him. "Sure, I guess."

The three kindergartners then headed back to the circle and sat down with Kaos in the middle. I blinked slowly as it occurred to me the new kid wasn't in front of me anymore. Alarmed, I turned quickly, scanning the room for the unique pegasus. What was that warning my second cousin's daughter said again. Even though he looks like a pegasus he can do ma… THERE!

To my greatest surprise, Kaos was sitting in between my two trouble makers. Sighing, I walked over to the orange rug I use for Circle Time. I put on a cheerful smile as I stepped to the front of the class.

"Okay, as I was saying, class we have a new student. I want everypony to give Kaos here a real warm welcome!" I chirped excitedly, hoping the young ones will catch my enthusiasm.

"Hi Kaos!" all eight kids chorused with matching grins. Some even giggled a little. Good, my job is soo much easier if the kids get along.

I expertly clear my throat, "Okay class! Now that is done how about we read Little Red Mane together? Sounds like fun!"

I then grabbed the popular picture book and started reading. Hopefully Shuffle Leap and Ocean Breeze won't get in trouble today…

Kaos's p.o.v

I was sitting next to Shuffle and Ocean while the teacher, Ms. Lilly read a children's book about a little filly with a bright red mane going to her grandmother's house. Not really listening, I read more entertaining stories about evil earth pony librarians and a family of unicorns that fight them. I took a closer look at Shuffle's horn. I have never seen a unicorn horn like it before. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the horn kinda does a tiny wiggle whenever Shuffle shifts…

"Wanna do something really cool?" Ocean whispered in my ear suddenly.

Startled, I jumped. "Umm, wh…what do you have in mind?"

Shuffle leaned forward, "While Ms. Lilly is distracted, try to sneak outside. We always do that during storytime and we always get caught."

I raised an eyebrow, "Can't you just teleport there?"

Shuffle shook his head, "No way man! I don't know how yet."

I smirked, even though we just met their idea has more merit than timberwolves tying up old grannies. So concentrating my magic, I had it engulf Shuffle and Ocean. With a bright flash of light, we were gone…
