Chapter 19: you remind me of someone I used to know
Due to the fact that Ava has been wiped from the existence from jumping into the pit of Malivore as well as the fact that Alaric was now longer headmaster at the school and they were currently in disagreement with the current headmaster's point of view when it came humans and supernatural beings, Peyton and Klaus had decided to move back into the Mikaelson Mansion with their youngest son to keep a better eye on their eldest daughter since they were unsure about how she was coping with all of this especially after the conversation they had with Alaric in order to confirm the story that Ava had told them where he had told them that she had broken down. Although the benefits of moving back into their family home in Mystic Falls and it being so close to the Salvatore school was that Cassie and Wyatt tended to come over a lot to see their other siblings especially Ava since Cassie had missed her. Today was the day of the annual pickup game between the two local schools, Mystic Falls high school and the Salvatore school where Wyatt was playing as quarterback like he usually did. Ava came down the stairs wearing a brown crew necked knitted sweater with drop shoulder sleeves, a pair of ripped black jeans and a pair of brown boots which had a small chunky heel to it while Wyatt wore a white T-shirt under a red shirt, a denim jacket, a pair of ripped jeans and a pair of white sneakers. Ava was gently creating a braid on one side of her hair at the front before clipping into place and hiding the clip with the rest of her wavy hair, she also wore slightly brown smokey eyes with a natural looking nude lipstick.
" well hello... family? Where is everyone? I expected this place to packed to the brim like normal" Ava said looking around the kitchen to see that it was only her mom and Wyatt in the room and no one else
" ummm... dad took Nate and Cassie outside while I helped mom make pancakes for breakfast" Wyatt said as he stood at the counter watching their mom continue to make a large stack of pancakes
" we figured we'd eat breakfast outside and I'm sorry, you were helping make the pancakes?" Peyton said looking at her son and stop her movement as she gave him a look that he was more than familiar with by now causing him to stand up taller
" okay so I was watching you make them but that's only because you're so good at it, especially when you think about that time dad made the pancakes" Wyatt said scrunching his face up in a grimace
" yeah, they were gross... as in still batter and dough and gooey" Ava said pretending to to gag a little as they remembered the time Klaus tried to make Peyton and his kids pancakes for Mother's Day once
" he was trying to do something nice for me and you guys too, also it's not his fault that he was raised during the medieval times... and is a terrible cook" Peyton said laughing as she pretending to defend her husband
" hey, why don't I go take these out to the little munchkins outside before they start to tear this place apart?" Wyatt said knowing their mom wanted to talk to Ava alone as he took the plate of pancakes outside
" Wyatt Ansel Mikaelson, all those pancakes better make it to the table in one place!" Peyton said calling out to her son as she saw him eating a pancake on his way out as Ava and Peyton laughed
" you know they won't, this is Wyatt were talking about" Ava said as she sat on one of the stools at the breakfast so she could stay and talk to her mom as she began to eat some grapes from the fruit bowl
" so how you doing? And no lies this time, remember I'm your mom and I know when you're lying to me" Peyton said as she stopped cooking and came around to the stool next to her so that they could talk
" honestly? Confused as hell... that night that I told Alaric the truth, I spoke to Landon the first time since I've been back and you know what we talked about?" Ava said allowing herself to think of that night
" what?" Peyton said sensing that whatever they had discussed was something painful for her daughter since she could see the hurt and pain in her eyes that made her wish she could take away from her
" Josie... he told all about how he wanted to be the perfect boyfriend to her and how she was trying to be the perfect girlfriend for him and you know what I did? I gave him advice on what to do, on how to fix his relationship with her all the while my heart was breaking" Ava said as the tears came back again
" oh baby girl, I wish I could make this better for you or had answers to fix this" Peyton said wishing that her children could have more normal lives where there was no magic to complicate things like this
" I even made up a lie about being in love with a guy that doesn't even know I exist except that it wasn't a lie because he's that lie, he's the guy I'm in love with that doesn't know who I am" Ava said sobbing now
" come here, baby girl. The thing about love is that it is one of the beautiful thing is in the world but it's also the most painful thing too" Peyton said as she pulled her daughter into a hug to try and comfort her
" you know what was really messed up? He gave me a milkshake, peanut butter blast with whipped cream on the bottom like he remembered me but he didn't or at least not enough... what would you do if it was dad?" Ava said as she snuggled closer to her mom knowing her hugs made everything better
" what would I do if your dad forgot about me? Ummm I don't know, I'd like to think that I'd let him be happy even if that meant leaving him but I don't know if I could do it or I should" Peyton said thinking about it
" what do you mean?" Ava said moving a little so that she could see her mom's face better confused by her statement as she thought about the night she got back where she had seen Landon and Josie kiss
" well there's reason why you and Landon fell in love like your difficult childhoods, similar issues, things Josie Saltzman couldn't really understand. Plus that kind of love leaves an impression, nothing can really wipe away including a supernatural pit of goo" Peyton said knowing that this situation was complicated
" so what do I do? Do I leave them to do their thing and be together or do I try and remind Landon of who I am and what happened between us?" Ava said since she had never thought of it like that before
" I think that you should just let nature take its course because something tells me that this isn't the end of you and Landon, not by a long shot" Peyton said sweeping a piece of her hair behind her ear
" hey mom , Ava... you might want to get out here!" Wyatt said calling from his place on the garden patio out back causing Peyton and Ava to exchange a look before running out to join the others
" what's going on?" Ava said behind her mom as she tried to take in the scene before her from the broken plate on the ground along with the pancakes that had been on it and Cassie who was in Klaus's arms
" Cassie? Cassia, wake up... come on...whatever it is that you are seeing, it isn't real and you know that" Klaus said trying to comfort his small daughter as she had suddenly gotten a new vision of something
" that's the thing, this was real and happened recently" Cassie said in a small voice as she slowly came out of her vision as she tried to control her emotions and block the emotions of others around her
" Nate, why don't you go and play inside for a while?... how recent, Cas?" Peyton said gently as he waited for the toddler to leave the garden before gently asking her daughter the important question
" last night, I saw some boys from that other school. They came to our school to write bad words but one boy said no and left, so did some of the boys except one" Cassie said remembering the vision well
" what happened to the boy, little monster?" Wyatt said crouching down in front of his sister as he sensed that whatever it werewolf was nothing good judging from her sudden silence and paleness
" there was a howl from the woods and he grabbed a gun to shoot it but umm... something growled and took him, it was black and big" Cassie said almost terrified of what she had seen taking the boy
" hey, something tells me that there's another monster in town. Come on, we should go pay Alaric a visit" Wyatt said as he pulled Ava to the side as they watched as their parents tried to comfort Cassie
" wait, are we sure it's not just a wolf or more likely knowing our lives that it's not a werewolf?" Ava said thinking about how sometimes Cassie didn't make the right connections due to being young and scared of the visions
" either way, we need more information" Wyatt said as he grabbed a couple of pancakes as they began to head back inside to grab their stuff so that they could go about their day after talking to Alaric
" hey, Wyatt! Do not forget that you have an upper school assembly to attend!" Klaus said knowing that they didn't need anyone asking questions about what they were up to as it would lead back to Ava
Due to the fact that Ava and Wyatt were currently moving around the town of Mystic Falls a lot more than they had been previously due to the recent developments in their lives, their parents decided to get two new bikes in order to make it easier for them or rather easier for Ava who didn't vampire super speed like Wyatt did although she loved her yellow vintage Dutch bike with a basket since it was much more nicer than Wyatt's plain black one. They rode in silence from their house to the Mystic Falls high school as they wondered what kind of state it was going to be in since they knew that the two school had long standing rivalry that lasted years and this hatred only got worse when it came to the annual pickup game between the schools, which was clear as the twins got closer to the school to see the familiar colours of the Salvatore school as its students pranked the other school.
" Come on, let's go!" One of the students vandalising the high school said as they noticed that someone was coming as Wyatt and Ava chained off their bikes up and grabbed their bags before walking closer
" wait, was that Joey? He used to sit behind me in one of witchy classes" Ava said recognising one of the boys as she placed her colourful floral embroidered black backpack on her back as she talked
" at least I know why everyone on the team was shutting me yesterday, I always hate this part of the annual game" Wyatt said as he looked at the spray paint and the toilet paper that was everywhere
" that's because it's stupid and childish, Alaric always taught us to be above this and that we should prove ourselves on the field as equals... I say that as someone who's never played" Ava said with a smile
" uh-oh, seems like we've drawn the attention of the new sheriff. What are the chances she isn't going to hate us like Matt Donovan did?" Wyatt said as they heard the sirens play as the sheriff's patrol car stopped in front of them
" I don't know but it's us so I'm going to go with that it's unlikely, at least our dad hasn't killed any of her relatives or friends... yet" Ava said knowing that Matt Donovan has his reasons for his distrust of the supernatural
" This looks pretty self-explanatory but you want to give it a shot?" The new sheriff said coming out of patrol car and walking to where Ava and Wyatt were standing as she looked around the school
" Um my best guess would be toxic masculinity mixed with outdated sports pranks, either that or an entitled sense of self worth?" Ava said looking around as the sheriff shrugged almost in agreement
" There's no way Hope did it, she's a Timberwolf and not a Stallion. I don't know him though, so feel free to interrogate him" Maya said rolling down the window to reveal she was sitting in the backseat
" I actually am a Stallion as in I go to the Salvatore boarding school but this wasn't me, I've been with Ava and ou- my family all morning" Wyatt said causing himself to self correct as he almost slipped up
" Maya? What happened?" Ava said wondering why Maya was sitting in the back of a cop car as she wondered if she had been arrested and wondered what she could have done this early in the morning
" Oh don't worry, se's my mom. We don't really like to talk about it and hi I'm Maya, clearly" Maya sad getting of the car as she joined them and introduced herself to Wyatt as she became curious about him
" I'm Wyatt, Wyatt Mikaelson" Wyatt said as he secretly hoped that Lizzie Saltzman wouldn't hear about the new girl at Mystic Falls high flirting with him since he knew her temper and jealous could out of control
" wait, I'm confused... we?" Ava said confused since she had never heard of Maya mentioning a sibling in the short time they had been friends as she saw Ethan coming out the other side of the car smiling
" hey stalker girl or can I just call you Ava now that I know your name?" Ethan said smiling as he looked at the girl that seemed to be wrapped in mystery in ways he couldn't even describe as he looked at her
" Ethan? So you guys are...?" Ava said not sure if they were dating or were siblings but knew for experience that she didn't want imply one when it could be the other and offend them somewhat
" My kids, no matter how much it embarrasses them" the sheriff said knowing her kids had complained about her being the new town sheriff on more than one occasion since they had arrived in Mystic Falls
" Cause who doesn't like getting dropped off to school in a cop car?" Ethan said sarcastically as he thought about the amount of questions and mocking he got from the guys on his team for being her son
" I can get that, my parents are teachers at school. It makes it harder to get away with things when they are constantly around, trust me I've tried" Wyatt said making Ava laugh as she thought of their mishaps
" anyway I'm on official business, now can you show me where I can find Principal Saltzman?" The sheriff said to Ava since she knew that Ethan and Maya wouldn't want to be seen with her in school
" umm yeah, of course I can" Ava said looking to Wyatt a little unsure but given the sheriff a friendly smile since she knew from experience that you always had to be on the right side of sheriff's of this town
" hey I should go anyway before I'm late for assembly and you know who yells at me for it but call me with updates, okay?" Wyatt said realising that he didn't have time to talk to Alaric now or he would be late
" okay... umm sorry, principle Saltzman's office is this way if you want to follow me" Ava said to the sheriff once Wyatt had left time to go back to school before the new headmaster knew he was gone again
" so who was that boy? Is that your boyfriend or something?" Ethan said as Maya rolled her eyes at her brother before leaving them to head to her locker while he decided to walk a little further with them to get information on Ava
" who, Wyatt? No, gross! He's not my boyfriend, he's my best friend like the closest thing I have to a twin you might say" Ava said chuckling at her own reaction as she tried to stay as close to the truth as possible
" really? Okay, cool... I should go to my locker but I'll see you in class later" Ethan said seeming almost cheerful about the news of Ava not having a boyfriend as he thought about asking her out more and more
" anyway this is his office, let me just knock on it for you" Ava said knowing that she should probably leave round about now but she needed to see Alaric before the sheriff did even if it was for a second
" oh Ava... and you have the sheriff with you? what can I do for you, sheriff?" Alaric said opening his door more than a little confused by what he found outside waiting for him as he wondered what was going on
" I was actually wondering if I could come inside and talk to you for a minute?" The sheriff asked as professionally and as polite as she could and with a smile as Ava moved to the side a little for her
" of course, come on in... please tell me this has nothing to do with you or Wyatt?" Alaric said as he whispered the last part to Ava as he wondered if he was in for another round of covering the supernatural up again
" I don't think it does but just in case... Invisique" Ava said performing a spell to make herself invisible as she silently moved into the office and sat at Alaric's desk to listen in on the conversation while he stood in front of it
" last night, a young man from this school named Dennis went missing. His parents and friends haven't seen him since last night, this is him" the sheriff said still down in front of him as she dived straight in
" oh I'm sorry, I I haven't seen him. I'm still pretty new here" Alaric said taking the picture from her as he looked at it as well as made sure to hold it in the right angle so that Ava would be to see in too
" Well, his teammates last saw him at the Old Mill by the Salvatore School and found his truck abandoned as well as his hunting rifle nearby" the sheriff said thinking about what Ethan had told her
" Okay. Well I will check with his classmates and his teachers, I wish I could be more helpful but like I said I'm still getting to know the students and the sheriff. You know I was friends with the old one" Alaric said knowing that Matt and him definitely had their ups and downs over the years
" Please, no more stories about how great Sheriff Donovan was. His shoes are already big enough and this is my first real case since I moved from the city. Truthfully, I didn't mind that my biggest concern up to this point was a rash of missing dogs" the sheriff said thinking about how nice it was to have a low crime rate
" Maybe they're connected" Alaric said as the thought began to occur to him especially with Rafael still roaming around the woods in wolf form since Landon was no longer feeding him meaning he was getting fed somehow
" Maybe, anyway I'll leave you my phone number... that way you can call me anytime" the sheriff said as she wrote her number on a piece of paper for him before walking out of the office to carry on with her day
" Did you get all that?" Alaric said to Ava as she made herself visible again causing him to give her a look as he saw that she had made herself comfortable in his chair by putting her feet on his desk
" yup, she's definitely into you. I mean that whole 'call me anytime' thing was such a move" Ava said laughing at what she had just seen as she suddenly wished that she had been in the room to see that
"What? No, she's just new to town and trying to make friends which is exactly what you need to be doing. You know blending in as a normal human girl" Alaric said deciding to go along with her plan
" I know you don't remember but you've using that line on me for two years and I'm not doing that again ever, I tried that last year and clearly it didn't really work out" Ava said knowing she couldn't go through that twice
" Ava, com-" Alaric said trying to convince her that it wasn't likely that she would be erased from existence again when she interrupted him knowing that she wasn't going to back down from this
" no, I'm serious about this. If last year taught me anything, it's that making friends just makes you care more and caring more leads you getting hurt and I am done with getting hurt by things. I can't that again" Ava said knowing that she couldn't get her old life back just like that
" so what's your plan? To just pretend to be normal and be some kind of weird loner?" Alaric said knowing that he could get away with saying certain things to her from everything he had been told so far
" kind of, I'm just gonna focus on monster slaying. It's what I'm good at and I'm not alone, I have Wyatt and you and my family" Ava said almost smug that she had an answer already prepared for him
" anyway back on subject, it sounds like there could be another monster lurking around the Salvatore School." Alaric said thinking back on what the sheriff had just told them about what had happened
" that's actually why I'm here, Wyatt was with me but he had head back. Cassie had a vision this morning about a big black monster taking a teenage boy, I'm guessing it's Dennis" Ava said softly
" yeah, they have to be connected. So I'll check in with Dorian and your parents since they have access to research we don't. Any other ideas?" Alaric said knowing from everything he was told that him, Ava and Wyatt were a team
" actually I do but uh we are both going to hate it... I think we should go to the Salvatore school as part of the pickup game today, me as a player and you as coach" Ava said already regretting that idea
" what? Why? That's a terrible plan, I'm going to assume this is why I also go to Wyatt for the plans" Alaric said knowing that the last thing he wanted to do was go anyway near the Salvatore school
" the new monster seemed to be circling around the Salvatore school or least that's where we're more likely to find clues since it was there last. We need to follow every lead, right?" Ava said in grimace
" yeah, you're right. I just hate this plan so much... but here, you're going need this. I'll get a bag ready with everything we need" Alaric said tossing a T-shirt and shorts to wear for the game today as part of the team
Meanwhile as Ava and Alaric dealt with the sheriff and started plotting their new plan, Wyatt had racing again time as he used his super speed to pedal faster than ever on his bike in order to get back to the school in time as he got off his bike and buttoned up his red shirt and took his denim jacket in order to look like he was wearing his uniform although he wasn't. He noticed when he walked in that everyone else that is involved is the upper school assembles were already in the main hall waiting for headmaster Vardemus to speak as Wyatt gently tried to slip in at the back before taking a seat next to Landon, as he was suddenly thankful for the friendship he had created with him during the summer since it meant that he usually thought of Wyatt and did small things like this to help him out. He managed to sit down in the among the crowd just in time as headmaster Vardemus took to the podium to make his announcement and speech.
" As you are well aware, it's time for the annual American football match with Mystic Falls High" Vardemus said causing the students around him to groan in disappoint and complaint over the news
" oh man, I was really hoping that they would cancel these stupid matches after the last one" Wyatt sis remembering that while they had been fighting a dragon lady, the two school had gotten into a fight
" why? What happened last year?" Landon said wondering if it has happened before or after he had arrived at the school with Rafael since he couldn't remember a football game happening between the schools
" oh yeah, you wouldn't know. It happened when we were fighting the dragon and then you ran away with Raf, by the time you came back it was done but Lizzie and the others got into a fight with the kids from Mystic Falls high in May" Wyatt said remembering how they had all gotten punished for it
" unlike before, today you will not be forced to lose a game so that humans can feel superior because very one of you is special...Every one of you and it's time you showed it" Vardemus said earning an applause from the students
" oh you gotta be kidding me with this guy" Wyatt said immediately disagreeing with his statement since he knew the trouble and mayhem that showing off how special they were could lead to as he shook his head
" How?" Josie said standing up as she thought about how her dad always told them to never use their powers during theses game or during interactions with humans in case they were exposed because of it
" By using your powers in moderation, Ms. Saltzman. The goal is not exposure, merely to win. Think of it as an exercise in control" Vardemus said knowing that there was a line that they may or may not cross
"Well I am here for it and after last year, it'll feel really good to show those Timberwolves what we're all about" Kaleb said in agreement with Vardemus as he remembered how much he hated losing last year
" And who better to lead you in this endeavor, as your quarterback, than our very own uniquely powerful Wyatt Mikaelson? You are dismissed" Vardemus said as everyone cheered knowing that Wyatt was the most powerful being
" actually, headmaster Vardemus, if the whole using our abilities is a compulsory matter then count me out. I've dealt with exposure and prejudice before and I don't want to do it again" Wyatt said thinking of Greta
" you need not fear prosecution from the human, Wyatt. Your father's family are notorious for putting the humans in their place without fearing of being condemned for it" Vardemus said not knowing the effects his words would have on Wyatt
" that was when things were different, the world wasn't used to vampires. Also don't think that my family didn't pay for every act and crime they committed because trust me, they did" Wyatt said with venom in his voice
" think of this as an opportunity to learn further control of your full tribrid powers, as a way of testing their limits" Vardemus said realising that he had obviously triggered a nerve of Wyatt's where his family was concerned
" against humans, no thank you. Like I said, if you want to be quarterback and use my powers then I'm out because I'm not doing that" Wyatt said before away from the headmaster before he did something that he would regret
After Alaric had given Ava an football uniform and excused her from her classes for the day, Ava decided to head to the girl's changing room to get changed into the mostly black with red football uniform which she wore with a black sports bra with multiple straps, a red hoodie and a pair of black Nike's as well as had decided to wear slightly lighter makeup and braid her into two tight braids. Once she was ready, she joined the others on the bus as everyone seemed to get hyped for the game while she decided to grab a seat on bus that was somewhat secluded as she sat down and decided to listen to play music after texting Wyatt that they had a plan and she would fill him in soon, she was planning on spending the bus ride preparing for going back to the Salvatore school. However that was soon interrupted when she felt someone sit down next to her when they were half way there as she turned around to see that it was Ethan.
" hey you okay? You don't seem to be in the team spirit for the game?" Ethan said as he bumped shoulders with her as he sensed that something was off when he had seen her staring out the window
" yeah, I'm just nervous... you know what it's like new school, new experiences" Ava said trying to play what she was really feeling like the dread and the sickness as nerves so Ethan would believe her
" so what does Ava Matthews listen to when she's nervous and trying to get out her head, huh?" Ethan said as he took one of her earphones so he could hear what she was listening to in order to figure her out
" I promise that my music isn't always this slow and sad but I am in love with this song, it's outrunning karma by Alec Benjamin" Ava said with a smile as they continued to listen to the music together
" is this your way of telling me that you aren't the sad emo type?" Ethan said making her laugh as she thought back on how she had joked with both Roman and Landon about being emo due their music
" definitely not" Ava said knowing that wasn't how she would describe herself, she realised soon enough that was soon enough that she was doing the one thing she had swore not to do again this time around
" ok so what kind of girl are you? I mean no one at school really knows anything about you, where are you from?" Ethan said wanting to know more about the pretty blonde girl next to him who was so intriguing
" originally I'm from New Orleans but I moved around a lot as a kid, complicated family" Ava said knowing that there was no other way to describe her family and the things they had been through since her ad Wyatt's birth
" I guess we have that in common, the moving around I mean. It sucks being the new kid, huh?" Ethan said knowing that he would have struggled a lot with being the new kid if he wasn't on the football team
" starting over definitely sucks... so I have a confession to make" Ava said as she pulled the sleeves of her red hoodie over her hands as she thought about heading back into the Salvatore school with her memories in tact
" yeah and what's that?" Ethan said almost amused by her as he had a feeling that whatever she was about to say wasn't going to be anything serious or anything that would reveal more about who she was
" I'm really bad at football like I'm embarrassingly bad, I'm not even sure how I got on the team" Ava said making them both laugh as the school into site as the bus began to park just outside of the football field
" you can't be that bad or Saltzman wouldn't have let you on team and hey you might just surprise yourself. Come on" Ethan said as the rest of the team began to file out of the bus to get ready for the game
" just so you know, I still hate this idea of yours" Alaric said Ava passed by him as they exiting the bus as she grabbed her bag that as well as having all of her sports stuff in it, it also had all her hunter things too
" that's why Wyatt usually makes the plans because mine always suck... and this definitely sucks" Ava said as she got off the bus and almost immediately noticed Landon standing next to Josie as they made eye contact
" Do you know that girl?" Josie said as she noticed the look that was going on between Landon and the blonde girl that had just come off the Mystic Falls bus as she wondered what was going on with her boyfriend as Ava used her super werewolf hearing
" Not really. We met in the middle of town square and talked one night...We just also shared a milkshake once" Landon said not wanting to admit that he felt himself being drawn to the blonde girl
" wait, you and Ava talked and shared a milkshake? Let me guess, peanut butter blast with whipped cream on the bottom?" Wyatt said joining them as he overheard their conversation after seeing Ava coming off the bus
" yeah, how did you know that? Hold up, Ava? Is that her name?" Landon said immediately wanting to know more about her as he wondered how Wyatt knew so much about her as he looked over at Lizzie
" it's her favourite and yeah, that's her name... Ava Matthews" Wyatt said remembering that she was now using their mom's maiden name as her cover story since he couldn't exactly use Mikaelson
" and how do you know so much about a girl that goes to Mystic Falls high school?" Lizzie said joining them on the field as she heard her boyfriend talking about another girl as she wondered if she should be jealous
" our moms are friends, there's no need to be jealous. She's like my sister, we're as close as you and Josie are" Wyatt said knowing that he was definitely loving these little comments hinting to them being twins
" uh huh, I totally believe you but just in case..." Lizzie said pulling him for a passion filled kiss in order to mark her territory where Wyatt was concerned although she was pleased by the lack of reaction from Ava
" thank you for that... I'll be right back, I kinda want to say to your dad and Ava" Wyatt said wanting to know why they were both here since he knew that this was the last place that either of them wanted to be
" Let's just get this over with as fast as possible so I can crawl back into hole and pretend that this was all one big nightmare" Ava said knowing that it hurt being so close to Landon and not being with him
" Works for me, I'm no more comfortable being here than you are" Alaric said looking around to see his former students and the new headmaster as he thought about everything he lost as a result of last year
" which begs the question of why you're actually here?" Wyatt said after running towards where they were standing as he knew that there had to be a reason for them coming here which only meant a new monster
" because someone was being irresponsible and headed to his school assembly and left me to come up with a plan" Ava said hitting him slightly as she spoke through gritted teeth wishing he had been there
" but your plans suck" Wyatt said causing Alaric to laugh as he realised that you couldn't deny that these two were related from the way they were acting as he wished he had all of his memories of Ava back
" I know! Hence why I'm in the one place I don't want to be, near the one person I don't want to be near!" Ava said with an edge to her voice as she allowed herself to look over to where Landon was
" so why are you here then? What changed?" Wyatt said knowing that something must have changed for them both to be here as he remembered that the new sheriff had wanted to see Alaric when he left
" Ric, sorry to interrupt but there's something that you need to see" Dorian said running towards them once he noticed Alaric before pausing to look at Ava as he remembered her the night she came back
" sure, I'm just coming... Ava will fill you in and until I get back just try and keep the peace between the two schools" Alaric said before rushing off with Dorian leaving Ava and Wyatt alone to talk about things
" so basically the sheriff told Alaric about a kid from Mystic Falls high going missing last night, him and some other members of the team came here to vandalise the place like always" Ava said as they walked
" and let me guess, you think a big black monster took him? If being related to Cassie had taught me anything, that you should always trust a seer's vision" Wyatt said knowing that they had to be connected
" well considering it's here that he was last seen, I figured that if it is a monster then the best place to learn more about the monster and find Dennis" Ava said as they headed over to where their teams were
" so we just have wait for Alaric to come back with the info from Dorian before we make a move" Wyatt said as he watched as Ava took off her hoodie and began to get ready to play in the game that she hated
" and in the meantime, we just have to play in this ridiculous game" Ava said in a huff and in a deflated tone as she realised that this was probably the worse part of her play since she hated everything sports related
" yeah, well you have to but I don't. The new headmaster and I had a difference in opinion on the game plan so I'm on the bench during the game" Wyatt said not wanting to fill Ava in on everything that happened
" hey Ava, get your little butt on the field" Maya said calling out to Ava from the field as she fought the urge to roll her eyes as she tried not to think about how ridiculous she looked in the short shorts
" urgh shoot me now" Ava said before running out to the field to stand next to Maya facing Josie and Landon as she tried to squash down all her feelings about Landon and about actually playing in the game
" hey... I think that while you're playing the game and I'm here that we should connect our minds together, allowing us to talk with each other even when we're apart" Wyatt said as he looked at Vardemus
" sure, that way you can tell me anything learn for where you are and same goes for me... ready? Dic mihi, hva du vet" Ava said as Wyatt joined in on the spell as they tried to be discreet about their spell casting
" alright...let us begin our annual rite of American excess but unlike last year I expect no unseemly violence rather for each team to play to the fullest extent of their abilities, understood? Timberwolves of Mystic Falls, you may as I believe they say call it in the air" Vardemus said causing Ava to be wary of him
" Heads" Ava said as she watched him toss the coin in the air as Ava realised that she couldn't care less about the result as she knew that the only reason she was back in the Salvatore school was because of the new monster
" Tails never fails" Landon said as the coin fell to reveal that the Stallions had won the coin toss as he gave the usual smirk that made her want to kiss him as Ava got the sense that something was going on
" We'll take the ball" Josie said smugly as she showed off her jealousy about what was going in between Ava and Landon as she noticed the looks between them and longing stares as she gave her a look of her own
" So it begins. Uh, shake hands." Vardemus said pleased that his student and school had won this one minor part of the game as if he felt this proved his belief that his supernatural students were better than the humans
" good luck, let's hope that this goes better than our love lives" Landon said making Ava laugh as he shook her hand as something about her laugh made him smiled more since he had a feeling it was rare
" how about the winner buys the other a milkshake? I kinda you owe one" Ava said knowing that she shouldn't be flirting with Landon with his current girlfriend standing so close to them but she couldn't help it
" you are so on" Landon said before walking away smiling as he shook Maya's hand as him and Josie changed places for her to shake Ava's hand, however she had heard everything that had been said before
" Having another milkshake moment? You know he has a girlfriend, right?" Josie said with no hint of the sweet caring witch that Ava had always known her as since she was acting more like Lizzie right now
" yeah, sorry about that... they cheated, the coin is spelled" Ava said narrowing her eyes at Josie as everyone else moved into place while she decided to investigate the coin further before mentally talking to Wyatt
" yeah, why do you think I wanted to be connected mentally with you today? I had a feeling that our empowered witch of headmaster might do something" Wyatt said in her head as he shook his head
" hey, number 3... come over here, number 6 is playing instead of you" Alaric said coming back to the field to see what was going as he realised that he needed to get Ava off the field so he could talk to her
" hey so what happened with Dorian?" Ava said once she reached where Wyatt and Alaric stood as she wondered what was going on, hoping that he knew something that they could actually go on
" well Dorian found the missing kid and thank God he's okay but we definitely have another monster wandering around these woods. Dorian's digging into the research but he thinks it's a Shunka" Alaric said repeating everything that had just happened in the library with Dennis and Dorian
" a Shunka? What's-?" Wyatt said raising his eyebrows confused since they had never even heard of something called a Shunka as he knew by one that the unknown monsters were usually the worse ones
" And before either of you ask what that is, it's a carnivorous creature that feeds only on werewolves" Alaric said cutting a long story short for them since he knew that it was better to get to the punchline
" suddenly werewolves everywhere are glad that it's not a full moon" Ava said knowing it would be that much dangerous if there a bunch of werewolves in the school turning and unknowingly attracting this thing
"Yeah, except Raf has been stuck in wolf form ever since you've been gone. It happened fighting Triad, he was trying to save Nate and Cassie and hasn't been able to turn back since" Wyatt said reminding her
" geez, I forgot about that... he can't turn back because your magic only works with small spells and with me boosting it. I'm the only one that can turn him back and I wasn't even here to help him" Ava said beating herself up over this
" hey, it was my idea to give him that crescent moon ring so it's not on you okay?" Wyatt said knowing that she would beat herself up and blame herself for Rafael now being in danger due to still being a wolf
" either way, we got to go find him before the Shunka finds him first" Ava said knowing that the quicker they got away from this game and headed into the woods to find Rafael before the monster found him first
" before we do that, we need a way to get you out of this game permanently" Wyatt said knowing that she was the only one that was still somewhat involved in the game since her timeout was only temporary
" Agreed, we just need to find a way to ditch this game" Alaric said assuming that they would all be going as he noticed the looks being exchanged by the Mikaelson twins as he realised they were about to fight him on this
" no we're going alone, Rafael is our responsibility and anyway you need to stay here and keep an eye on that new headmaster" Ava said knowing that there was something off about the way he was right now
" Why?" Alaric said as all thoughts of fighting them on the fact that he hated that they would be alone in the woods with a monster that hunted their kind as he focused on the headmaster wondering what was going on
" because dude told us this morning that it was okay to use our powers since we are superior to humans and because he already used magic to cheat, he's up to something. It's why I'm not playing, I refused to use my abilities" Wyatt said knowing that it went against everything Alaric and his parents taught them
" guys, Caroline picked my replacement herself. There's no way that she's gonna hire... a weirdo with an umbrella. Okay, I'm on it" Alaric said as he looks over to where Vardemus was sitting with a sun umbrella
" Okay, now to plot my escape. Wish me luck" Ava said as she knew that she needed to get back out into the field in order to get out of playing for the rest of the game as she looked back at what was happening
" Break a leg" Alaric said as he gestured for Wyatt to head back to his own team since Vardemus was beginning to get suspicious of why Wyatt was spending so much time with a human and his old headmaster
" which considering you have no idea how to play football should be easy enough for you" Wyatt said knowing that he still found it amusing that she was playing football when she no idea how the game worked
Ava ran back on the field as she traded places with her replacement as she took a moment to simple watch what was going on in the field as she watched as the vampires used their strength to make throws that no human could, as the witches used magic to mess with the humans as she watched as Kaleb passed the ball to Josie for Maya to then tackle her to see that she didn't have the ball as Ava realised that she had used magic to replicate the ball and mask it as Ava headed over to Maya to help her up from the ground after deciding to get involved.
" Hey, you okay?" Ava said as she held out her hand for Maya to take as she checked on her to make sure that she hasn't herself when tackling and missing Josie as she knew she would be confused
" Hey, yeah I'm good...I thought I had her, trick play I guess" Maya said still trying to work out what had happened in her head since she had been so sure that Josie had the ball and couldn't understand it all
" oh you have no idea how tricky, we're screwed. There's no way we can beat them when they're playing dirty" Ava said knowing that on a whole other level that humans couldn't compete with magic and speed
" Hey, it was just one score and you're gonna march us straight down that field and tie us up" Maya said causing Ava to stop walking as she wondered what Maya meant as she suddenly started to panic
" What do you mean? Your brother's the quarterback" Ava said knowing that from the about of buzz about Ethan being this amazing quarterback player as well as remembered their conversation from the first day of school
" No, not today. He can't risk blowing out his knee on some pick-up game, so we're all counting on you" Maya said clapping on the back as they reached the point where the rest of the team where watching
" I'm sorry, what now?" Ava said looking between Ethan and Wyatt as she tried not to panic since she barely knew anything about football, never mind being the one that called the shots for the rest of the team
" hey, you've got this okay? And hey you did say that you'd be QB1 if anything. Now come on!" Ethan said trying to encourage that she could do this as he clapped his hands before Ava headed to the hurdle
" if you say so... Okay, uh all right guys... let's do this" Ava said as she joined the others completely clueless of what she was to do since everyone was looking at her expecting her to make this big play
" Do what? You're the quarterback, Ava. You call the plays" Maya said showing that she was completely behind her new friend as she tried to gently remind her that she was the one in control of the team
" umm everybody go long?" Ava said trying to remember the terms that she had heard Wyatt use before when he talked about football and came up blank except for one term as she prayed that it was right
" Works for me" Maya said as everyone around them seemed to agree to this new game plan as Ava realised that she needed to make her escape soon before she needed to anything else as quarterback
" okay so Timberwolves on three?...One, two, three. Timberwolves!" Ava said as the rest of the team joined in calling out the team name before separating and heading to their places as the game began
" oh wow, check Josie out. Maybe you won't have to fake an injury after all" Wyatt said in her mind making her look over to Josie was staring at her while scowling and putting in her mouth guard
" well that's aggressive, you think I can remind her of this when or if she remembers that Landon was my boyfriend first?" Ava said rolling her eyes as she waited for the game to start to make her own move
" I mean I would... hey watch out for Landon, Josie just told him to take you down" Wyatt said after he used his vampire hearing to pick up on the conversation that they had before the mouth guard incident
" oh right blitz... ouch...Hell of a throw, Johnny Utah" Landon said after tacking Ava causing them to both land in each other's arms before they realised and made a move to sit up as Landon suddenly felt awkward
" yeah, well I guess I got lucky on that one... oh ow!" Ava said realising that this was her opportunity to get out of the game as she clutched her ankle pretending that she had hurt it when Landon tackled her
" oh my god, are you okay?" Landon said as he gently touched her ankle concerned that he had hurt her badly as he wondered why his heart suddenly ached at the thought that this pretty blonde was hurt
" Uh-huh... I think so,I think it's just twisted it" Ava said knowing that her injury had to be something that had a quick recovery since she didn't want to pretend to have a broken leg for months when she was fine
" I'm so sorry, there's a nurse's office in the school. First floor, right inside. I hope you're okay" Landon said after helping Ava to her feet as she reminded herself to limb a little to keep the pretence up
" Uh I think I'll find it, thank you... Looks like you need a new quarterback" Ava said as she walked off the field and over to where Alaric was waiting for her with her bag as she wondered where Wyatt was
" Wyatt's waiting for you inside, he's faking a mood with Vardemus. Here you go, Happy hunting" Alaric said handing her the bag as she took and started to head inside the school to start their plan in motion
" there you are, so what was it? Twist ankle? Sprained wrist? Head injury?" Wyatt said leaning against the wall by the main entrance just outside of the school since he was waiting for her to meet him there
" twisted ankle, I kinda feel bad because I did it after Landon tackled me" Ava said although she knew that was the best opportunity that she had to fake an injury in order to get out of the game as quickly as she could
" come on, Raf and Landon ended up moving rooms in the summer so they're in uncle Stefan's old room now" Wyatt said as they headed inside of the school as Ava realised this was the first time she had been inside the school since coming back
" wow, this is so weird" Ava said as she looked around the school as they walked through as she thought about all the memories that these halls and rooms held for her throughout her childhood
" oh my god, I'm such an idiot. I completely forgot that this is your first time being back since you know... you wiped from existence" Wyatt said as he tried to comfort her as much as he could while still being him
" I'm fine, let's just keep going" Ava said shaking her head, knowing that she needed to focus on helping Rafael rather than focusing on what she had lost when she jumped into the Malivore pit losing herself
" if you say so... here we are" Wyatt said knowing that she was fooling herself more than anyone else as well as knew that being in Landon's room filled with everything that reminded her of him and surrounded by his scent
" his guitar, you know he once played a song for me with this...oh god... Stop, stop, stop. You're here for a reason" Ava said as she picked up one of Landon's shirt and smelled and was instantly comforted
" Ava, you don't need to do that and especially not with me. It's okay to miss him, to miss everything you lost" Wyatt said as he watched her begin to everything ready to do a location spell to find Rafael
" I know but if I let myself feel it then I'm crumple and right now is not the time to crumple" Ava said as she made sure she was in a comfortable position for the spell as Wyatt grabbed something of Rafael's
" fair enough but tonight when this done and we've saved Raf, I can stay at home and we hurdle together in your bed watching soppy movies with no complaints okay?" Wyatt said knowing she needed it
" ready?... phasmatos Tribum Nas Ex Veras, Sequita Saguines, Ementas Asten Mihan Ega Petous" Ava said as she began to chant along with Wyatt as they dropped some of their blood on a map and held hands
" What are you doing in my room? What is all of this? Wyatt?" Landon said coming into his room to see Ava and Wyatt sitting on his floor doing what was obviously magic as he realised that Ava wasn't human
" Uh look, I know that this looks bad but-" Ava said as she knew that she couldn't really explain this in any other way than saying that she was a witch since it was obvious that she was more than just human
" No, it looks like magic" Landon said as he turned away to run and tell either Josie or Vardemus about Wyatt and Ava doing magic together as he realised that his feelings were more of jealous than curiosity
" Corporis impetus! Sorry but I panicked" Ava said as she used the first spell she could think of to stop him from telling anyone what he had seen since she knew that it would only waste what very little time they had
" I'm starting to think you're not some ordinary girl and what do think Lizzie is going to say about this?" Landon said not sure what he liked the least, Wyatt and Ava being together or them doing magic
" no one said she was some ordinary girl, you just assumed that and Lizzie isn't going to say anything because there's nothing to tell her" Wyatt said defending himself as he wished he could tell them the truth
" Look my name is Ava Matthews, okay? I-I'm a witch. I'm working with Wyatt and Dr. Saltzman, he asked us to do a locater spell to find Rafael" Ava said deciding to stick close to the truth with this one
" Why wouldn't he ask one of his own daughters?" Landon said knowing it made sense for Alaric to go to his own daughters for help rather than to some random unknown witch that seemed to be surrounded by secrets
" maybe because she's more powerful than any witch before" Wyatt said defending his sister as he knew that he couldn't exactly explain how they were able to combined magic although Landon wouldn't know about
" And because they don't know about the Crescent Wolf Clan, not like I do or Wyatt for that matter" Ava said wondering why Landon hadn't made the connection between Wyatt, Peyton and the Crescent wolves
" Crescent wol-...I-I've read about that" Landon said thinking about the amount of werewolf related books and mythology in the hopes of finding something or anything that might help turn Rafael back
" since my mom is their alpha, she knows of a spell that Ava can do to help Raf" Wyatt said since Landon knew that Wyatt had been struggling with his magic since his vampire side had been triggered
" Does that mean you can turn Raf back?" Landon said making Wyatt laugh at the fact due to Ava's spell every part of him was spelled still apart from his lips as he knew his sister had a brain full of spells to go to
" Saeclum... I can, I mean turn Raf back human or at least I hope I can but apart from that...there is a monster in the woods and it feeds on werewolves" Ava said not wanting to get his hopes up in case it didn't help
" hence why your current werewolf best friend running around the woods isn't a good idea right now" Wyatt said knowing that they needed to get moving as soon as possible before the monster found Raf
" Then I'm coming with you" Landon said after Ava released him from her spell as he turned to face her and Wyatt with a look of determination on his face as he thought about how Rafael was in danger now
" Sorry but I fly solo, Wyatt doesn't count" Ava said as she noticed the glance that he was giving Ava in question as he wondered what made them so special and what it was between them since it was clear there was something
" He's my best friend" Landon said hoping that was enough to convince Ava to let him come along since it was clear that she was the one calling the shots right now as Wyatt would look at her to take the lead
" You do realize I could freeze you again, right?" Ava said as Wyatt realised that she was getting annoyed and was putting up her walls again causing him to groan since he knew how tough they were
" Would that spell last forever?" Landon said knowing that he would wait until the spell wore off to follow her and help in any way he could if it meant saving his best friend which had been his goal for months
" no but I know other spells, more deadly and harms ones that I could use to stop you" Ava said with a smile on her face that almost scared Landon as he realised that she had a whole other side to her
" guys, we don't have time for this. You can come but just try to keep up, come on Aves" Wyatt said grabbing the map leading to Rafael and the gym bag that was filled with everything they needed
Soon Ava, Landon and Wyatt headed into the woods still dressed for the game that was still happening out on the field, the walk to the woods was quiet and almost uncomfortable in a way for Wyatt since there was a tense atmosphere between his sister and her former boyfriend although he knew that how bad he was feeling this about this situation that Ava would be suffering worse than him. Landon kept sneaking glances of Ava when ever he could as he got the sense that she was much more used to this kind of situation than something normal like playing football with her school team as she seemed calmer than he had yet to see her, while Ava decided to focus on the map in front of her as she kept eyes on it rather than doing what she wanted which was looking at Landon until he remembered who she was while Wyatt decided to be the one to keep an eye for the monster.
" hey... I'm going run ahead a little and see if there's any sign of the monster or Raf, tracks wise" Wyatt said forcing Ava to talk to Landon since he knew that this continued tense silence couldn't keep going
" howl if you find anything... Yeah, so Raf should be up ahead" Ava said when Wyatt was gone, knowing that she couldn't just keep pretending that this was the boy that she had fell in love with months ago
" Cool" Landon said deep in thought and guarded although Ava knew him well enough by that he only ever used vague answers when he had something on his mind that was bothering him but didn't want to say
" Meaning not cool?" Ava said giving him a look as she tried to encourage him to talk to her as she wondered for a brief moment if he talked to Josie the way he used to talk to her when they dated
" Sorry, it's just nothing" Landon said not wanting to bother this nice sweet pretty blonde girl that he still knew nothing about, a fact that had become very clear since finding out that she was only pretending to be human
" Meaning something. Come on, Landon. I know you and I know when you worrying about something so just tell me... I mean I know people like you" Ava said trying to cover up her slip up as her guard dropped
" It's stupid but when Raf was first stuck as a wolf, he used to always hang out with me but then he stopped. Like, he forgot or he moved on" Landon said thinking about how everyone seemed to leave
" And let me guess, you're worried that it's gonna be the same when he's human again?" Ava said knowing that it didn't take a genius to work out that he was worried about being abandoned like he had been in the past
" Told you it was stupid" Landon said thinking that a girl like Ava could never understand that kind of abandonment issue since he could never imagine anyone ever leaving someone as smart and beautiful as her
" no I don't think it's stupid, I mean it's painful to lose someone that you love and it's only natural to be scared that someone is going to leave you especially if that's all you've know" Ava said comfortingly
" ohI know all about loss...I grew up in the foster system, getting bounced around from family to family made me want to shut everybody out until I realized life's a lot harder without someone watching your back" Landon said thinking about it all as Wyatt rejoined them
" you two have that in common, there's no better than at shutting people out than Ava here" Wyatt said thinking about how she used to always have to be pushed by Alaric or their parents to make friends
" hey Landon...Trust me, you don't have to worry about anyone forgetting you. You are the most unbelievable and unforgettable person I've ever met" Ava said smiling a smile that made him want more
" Help! Help! Somebody, help!" Called a voice a head of them in the woods causing Ava and Wyatt to be on full alert since they weren't aware of anyone else being in the woods as Landon began to run off
" Landon, wait! Stop!" Wyatt said as him and Ava began to run after him as their minds began to race with all of the possibilities of what could be out there waiting for them at the other end of that voice
" Landon, come back! You don't know what's out there!" Ava said worried about the boy she loved as they began to heard growling as they began to wonder whether it was Rafael or the new monster
" I have an educated guess" Landon said as he abruptly stopped when he saw the large black wolf like monster in front of him as Ava ran as fast as she could to catch up while Wyatt used his vampire super speed
" wow, Cassie wasn't lying about it being huge and scary looking" Wyatt said as he realised that Cassie's description of the monster seemed to be spot on as he realised how vicious it looked right now
" I said stay back. Wyatt, hands now... Incendia" Ava said snapping into action as soon as she arrived as she used their mental link to tell him what kind of spell to use before they chanted together and threw fire towards the monster
" Is there a plan 'B'? Please tell me there's a plan 'B'" Landon said beginning to panic when he saw that fire related spell didn't seem to work on the monster as he wondered what else they had planned for it
" I have one plan but it's as horrible as one of yours and even I hate it... we need to turn and get the monster to follow us, we need to head in different directions" Wyatt said saying the last part in Ava's head
" I hate this plan, it's the worst one yet... both of you need to turn around and not face me" Ava said as Wyatt immediately began to do what he was told knowing the reason for it as Landon looked confused
" Why?" Landon said turning around just in case since he praised himself on being someone who respected woman as well as being a shy nerd type which luckily for him went hand in hand together
" Because plan 'B' involves us getting naked" Ava said as she began to take off her football uniform knowing that Wyatt was right about this plan being the only option that they had left in front of them
" and there is no way in hell that you're seeing her naked like ever" Wyatt said giving Landon and Ava a stern brother look as he took his lead from Ava as he began to get undressed as well as to get ready
" the very awful plan of Wyatt's is for us to draw it away from you" Ava said explaining the plan to him although she knew that this was just going to add to more questions from Landon and more avoidance from her
" Why does that require nudity?" Landon said feeling like he was still missing a key part of the plan since none of this made any sense to him as he noticed that the pile of Ava's clothing forming on the ground
" Because this monster feeds on werewolves, dummy" Wyatt said as he waited for Ava to finish getting undressed since it was faster for men as he knew that getting undressed in the middle of the woods was making her uncomfortable
" Wyatt, I get because he's a werewolf as well as a witch and a vampire but you're a witch...a lying witch. A lying, very naked witch" Landon said hurt as he realised she had been lying to him this whole time
" Look, I'm more than that and I wish I could stay and tell you all about it but if you want me to Sade you and Raf then I can't do this right now" Ava said knowing that they were running out of time and quickly
" listen when we draw this thing away from you, you need to go find Dr. Saltzman and Raf... I'll go first, Aves" Wyatt before turning into a wolf as the monster focused and waiting for Ava to do the same before running
" just promise me that you'll be safe and smart about this, I couldn't bare it if anything happened to you" Ava said not being able to help herself from warning him or from gently kissing his lips as he closed his eye
" I still don't get it, why would it after chase you? Because you're a were-witch. Holy smokes... Not the droids you're looking for, so please move along. " Landon said focusing on rather than the kiss he just felt as he turned in time to see her turn into a wolf as her and Wyatt headed in different directions, however the monster stayed with Landon
It took Ava and Wyatt a while to reason that they weren't being chased by the monster and once Ava realised that something had went wrong with their plan, she turned back into her human self and curled back to where she had left Landon to see that he was gone before pulling out a large white high necked tank that belonged to Rafael to wear over the black sports bra and underwear that she wore since she was trying to be quick about getting dressed again hence why she threw her hair up into a messy high ponytail. She began to wander through the woods, now lost and confused as she looked for any sign of Wyatt or Landon or even the monster as she had a feeling that the monster would lead her to Landon.
" Landon! Wyatt? Wyatt? Landon? Landon! Look I'm sorry, I would have never left you. I didn't know that it wanted you. Raf, oh my god. look, I-I know you don't remember me and this is all my fault but I would have never let anything like this happen to you or Landon. Wait, Raf, wait. Please. Don't-don't go. Okay, I I can help you. Landon needs you. I need you" Ava said begging him to come closer to her
" Raf, it's me. It's Wyatt, okay? You can trust her, she can help you... ready?" Wyatt said coming out of the trees after hearing Ava call on him and Landon as he could see that Rafael was getting ready to leave
" yup, come here...Sul opraem chele kouzlo" Ava said chanting as she gently bent down to stroke Rafael's fur to make a connection with him so that she could break the hold that the ring had on him
" Wyatt? What's going on?" Rafael said now in human form as he looked to the blonde girl in front of him to his alpha and close friend as he remembered her saying something about Landon being in trouble as Wyatt threw him some clothes to put on
" I'll explain everything later but we've got to go find Landon... you coming, Ava?" Wyatt said looking back to see her wiping a tear away as the realisation that someone else had forgotten her hat her
" you go ahead, I think this is one fight I should sit out. I've complicated things enough already" Ava said knowing that Landon was probably going to think she was part of the whole Malivore thing
" not by a long shot, you saved Raf today. I'll come by later for our night okay?" Wyatt said knowing that there was no time to convince her as he ran after Raf since it was clear that Landon was near by
" Wyatt, I've got him... oh god, what the hell?" Rafael said as he noticed the large monster dragging Landon away before he grabbed a large stick to stab the monster in the back to save his best friend
" Raf, you're back!" Landon said getting up as he noticed that his best friend was back in human form as he suddenly felt like all of his dreams had suddenly come true since he had been wishing for this
" guys, you're little reunion is going to have to wait because that thing isn't dead yet!... urgh, now it is" Wyatt said coming out of the shadows to see the monster getting back up as he stabbed it through the under chin
" oh god, I thought you were gone" Landon said as he ran over to Rafael and hugged him as he suddenly felt relief like never before as he knew that Rafael was the only family he had ever known
" You can stop thinking it, bro cause I'm back. Thanks to you and Wyatt" Rafael said as he looked around for Wyatt but saw no sign of him as he temporarily forget about the girl who had changed him back
" No it wasn't us, it was her...she - She saved us both, Ava" Landon said as he looked around for her, wishing to see her one more time as the kiss she gave him still lingered in his mind and on his lips
" wait, who was that girl?" Rafael said as the blonde and her stunning piercing eyes came back into his head as he wished and hoped that Landon would have more to tell him about her as he wanted to know more
" you know you could go out there and tell them both who you are, who you really are" Wyatt said as he came to stand beside Ava from her hidden spot in the woods where she was watching Landon and Raf
" I could but they wouldn't believe me and what good would it do?" Ava said knowing that they would just think that she was some crazy person or another monster lying to them waiting to attack as soon as they could
" it would maybe help you feeling so sad all the time" Wyatt said as places his arm around her as he knew that all of this was having a bigger toll on her than anyone else knew about or could imagine
Ava and Wyatt soon headed home after that to hear that the football game had took a turn for the worse when Josie had used dark magic to break Ethan's arm causing Alaric to push Vardemus for his involvement leading to the two schools getting into a much bigger fight, Wyatt decided to head back to the school for the night since he wanted to keep an eye on Vardemus since something seemed off about the new headmaster while Ava decided to head to the hospital in order to check in Ethan and Maya since this was the life that was leading now. A part of her knew that she should forget about the life she had left behind when jumping into the pit of Malivore and start living the new one she given. She got dressed a pair of high waisted belted flared jeans with a white patterned T-shirt that was tucked in, a blue suede biker jacket and a pair of white sneaker while she kept her hair down in its natural state and kept her makeup to a minimal. While she waited out of the hospital, she took the opportunity to do the one thing that she knew would help her which was by writing everything down in her new diary
" Ava? What are you doing here?" Maya said walking out the hospital to see her new friend sitting on the bench as she wondered why since this was the last place that she would have thought she'd be
" I just...I wanted to see how you and Ethan were doing after the game, I heard what happened" Ava said putting her pen in her book before walking over to where Maya was as she could see she was upset
" He worked so hard for that scholarship and now it's over... I'm sorry, I should head back up" Maya said as Ava huff before she pulled away knowing she needed to get back before Ethan or her mom came looking for her as she headed back inside
" hey, it's me. I don't what this new headmaster's deal is but whatever it is, it's a complete lie and is going to do more damage than anything else" Ava said as she began to walk away as she called Wyatt
" you're telling me, I'm the one that's having to sit in his assemblies and listen to him telling how much superior we are to humans and we should show them" Wyatt said knowing that this couldn't be right
" just watch him and let me know what you see, something tells me that this is part of something way bigger" Ava said knowing that everything in their lives seemed to be wrapped in mystery and secrets
