Chapter 9
Renesmee's POV
Esme led me up to the third story of the house, with Carlisle following behind us.
Esme turned to me as we stopped by a door at the end of the hall "You must excuse me for the clutter in the room, I'm still trying to get stuff out and organized for your room"
I shook my head "It's ok I don't mind, you didn't have to go through the trouble, after all, I only really sleep 4-5 hours a night for the most part. I wouldn't have minded sleeping on a couch when I stay over."
The incredulous look she gave me the moment I said that scared me a bit.
"I will not hear of my only grandchild sleeping on a couch"
I felt Carlisle's hand on my shoulder "It's better not to argue with her, she'll find a way to win in the end. Let her enjoy this."
"Noted," I said as I slowly opened the door.
My mouth fell open over how spacious the bedroom was. It had to have been 3 times the size of my bedroom back home, and I bet our kitchen and living room combined still wouldn't amount to the size of the room. The walls were a light blue, with boxes containing who knows what everywhere. I was already getting ideas on how I would begin to decorate.
I moved on to the closet, which shouldn't have surprised me, it was a walk-in closet already filled with clothes and shoes of such fine designs that I never dreamed of wearing before. Then of course there was the bathroom, it was all marble. It had a nice separate shower and a spa tub.
Though what got me, was the view from the huge single window in the room. I could see well into the forest, and I can just imagine how beautiful the sunrise and sunset must be from this view.
"This is incredible," I said turning back to Carlisle and Esme in amazement.
"Alice said you were an artist, I figured you would appreciate the view"
I turned back to the window "Defiantly, I can't wait to start sketching this. This room has to be bigger than our living room and kitchen combined."
It was silent for a few more moments while I continued to admire the view before Carlisle broke the silence.
"If you don't mind me asking Renesmee, I'm quite curious about your diet."
"Well, I can survive on both human food and blood. Though I tend to prefer blood, I do eat human food though I am quite the picky eater when it comes to it"
"Please let me know what you do and do not eat, I'll defiantly make sure the house is stocked on food."
I was about to tell Esme it was unnecessary but the look in her eyes stopped me.
"Interesting, you have such an active metabolism as evidenced by your heartbeat and consumption of human food. If you don't mind me asking such a personal question-"
I raised a hand as I could tell where he was heading "Yes, I do have monthly periods, which typically last no more than a few days. Though they usually leave me bedridden because the cramps are pretty bad even compared to a regular human. It's not going be a problem will it, I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable"
Esme just shook her head "No, blood like that isn't usually a problem for us to be around since it isn't a large quantity and for the most part dead blood."
Carlisle just stayed quiet, looking like he was in deep thought. Edward mentioned he was a doctor; I can only assume he was analyzing everything that I just told him.
"Come on Carlisle, let's leave her alone so she can start figuring out how she wants to decorate," Esme said leading Carlisle away from the room.
I was already back in my decorating mode. I was already imagining having more room for some of my BTS posters that I wasn't able to put up in my bedroom at home due to the small space. I'll get to have a separate workspace that wasn't also a part of my vanity table. I can't wait to put more lights along the walls of the room, as I do back in my room at home.
I heard a light pair of footsteps coming towards the room, it defiantly wasn't Alice's hers was much lighter, and defiantly not my mother's. So, it really could've been only one other person with such light steps.
"Come in," I said before they could even begin knocking.
The door opened to reveal a nervously smiling Rosalie.
It was hard not to be envious of Rosalie, I mean she had to be one of the most gorgeous people that I ever laid eyes on. With her long golden wavy hair that fell to the middle of her back, and her perfect physical features. I don't know in some strange way she reminded me a bit of Carla when I first met her last year.
"So how are you liking the room," she asked.
"I love it, it's so big and spacious. I can't wait to start decorating, I already got some stuff back at home I can use, I'll defiantly be buying more when I get paid."
"You have a job?" Rosalie asked.
I shook my head "No, between Mom and Jake, they usually give me quite a bit of money out of each of their paychecks so I can use it when I'm out with my friends. Mom doesn't want me to worry about money, she just wants me to enjoy my first high school experience. Usually, I just got to help take care of the house and run errands for my mom when she can't go out in the sun and Jake is unavailable."
Rosalie just chuckled "You know we would buy you whatever you needed, it's no problem."
I just shrugged "I don't know, it feels weird accepting money for nothing. I don't want to be a freeloader or anything, without doing my share."
At this point, Rosalie let out a hearty laugh.
"You are defiantly your mother's daughter; your mom was the same way with your dad. Every time he wanted to buy her something expensive, she would make such a big deal over it."
"That does sound like Mom, she was never one for the newest version of the stuff. Her motto is as long as it gets the job done then it doesn't matter if it's new or not" I said replying to all the times she and Jacob had to go bargain hunting when something needed to be replaced since while we're not exactly poor but defiantly not loaded like the Cullen's are.
Rosalie looked a bit conflicted like she wanted to ask me something.
"You look like you want to ask me something," I said, hoping she would just ask. I mean I'm a pretty open person for the most part, except when it comes to my heritage when I'm around my friends, which is pretty much a given."
"I hope this doesn't come out weird, but I was wondering if you would let me brush your hair. You got such pretty hair; I would like to style it if you let me" she asked almost like she was embarrassed to ask.
Though it was a bit weird, Rosalie was far from the first one to ask to do my hair. Right after I became friends with Carla, she was obsessed with my hair for the longest time. She constantly braided it, and straighten it out whenever I went to her house.
"Sure, that would be lovely Rosalie, but be warned my curls are a nightmare to handle," I said picking up a few strands of them to show off.
She had the biggest smile on her face as she took my hand and started to what I was presumed was her room.
We sat on her huge bed as she brushed my hair, which I have to admit was nice and soothing.
"So, your dad said you and him met in Biology," she asked trying to keep the conversation going.
It still felt odd having Edward being referred to as my dad, it was defiantly going to be a long while until I can refer to him that myself. At least he seemed understanding of it.
"Yeah that's right, the only class we have together" "I responded as I closed my eyes enjoying the nice feel of Rosalie's hand going through my hair.
"Did you know that's the same class your parents met in"
My eyes opened, and that took me by surprise.
"No, I didn't. Mom never mentioned that, she only said that they met in High school and dated for about a year before they broke up"
I could feel Rosalie start to tense from the way the brush was now moving.
"Did she ever mention any of us to you"
I shrugged "she told me bits and pieces over the years, every time I ask, she always gets this hurt look in her eyes, and I decided it wasn't worth pressing. Though everything she did tell me was always good things, like how much you guys welcomed her with open arms."
I knew I needed to add in that last bit, I didn't want any of them to think mom would deliberately say horrible things about them. Even though I knew mom had a habit especially when I was younger of sugaring things, so I wouldn't worry.
Suddenly Emmett, the larger of the Cullen boys came into the room and sat down on one of the nearby chairs, with a mischievous smile on his face.
"So, Renesmee, I heard you telling Carlisle you have your monthly visitor."
I could feel the blush already creeping onto my face.
"Emmett" Rosalie said looking at him disapprovingly.
"What I just wanted to see her blush, and I didn't think she could blush any redder than Bella did when she was human."
Rosalie just sighed before turning back to me "Don't mind him, he likes to embarrass all of us. You just happen to Blush."
"You got a nickname or something, no offense but your name is kind of a mouthful."
Rosalie just glared at him, as I chuckled a bit.
"What's so funny."
I shook my head "Nothing, just remembering when I was born Jake started calling me Ness or Nessie, for short because he said the same thing that you did. Mom was so angry at him, that she attacked him."
Both of them looked at me in disbelief.
"What no way, Vampire or not, your mother wouldn't hurt a fly"
"It's true, I can show you," I said wanting them to see it for themselves because I know they would get a kick out of it.
Emmett looked lost as I made my way over to him "Wait what do you mean by that."
I didn't say anything, I just put my hand on his cheek and wheeled the memory into his mind.
I was currently being held by Hulien, where we stood outside where Momma was fighting with Jake.
"Bella, you know this is completely out of my control," Jake said backing away.
"She's just a baby" she snarled.
"I will be whatever Nessie needs me to be in her life"
"Nessie?"
"Her nickname, I mean her full name can be quite a mouthful"
"YOU NICKNAMED MY DAUGHTER AFTER THE LOCH NESS MONSTER"
Momma then ran full straight into Jacob knocking both into several trees. Nahuel eventually ran over to pull her off of him.
I pulled my hand away as the memory faded, Emmett just stared looking unsure of what just happened.
"What the fuck was that."
"I'm not sure if Edward or Alice explained to you guys about my power, I can show others my thoughts through physical touch."
"Can I see?" Rosalie asked excitedly.
I showed her the same image that I had shown Emmett, but I also showed her a favorite childhood memory of mine. It was only a few years old now, but I remember how bedridden I was when I first started my period. It was the first time since I was born that I had gotten sick, and mom never left my bedside.
"Amazing, how old were you in that last image. You only seem a bit younger than you do now."
"I was 6 years old, only a year away from reaching full maturity, as you know I finished growing when I turned 7. The only reason I just now started school, was because mom wanted me to control my power before she would let me."
Emmett sat up straight in his chair "So by 7 years old you looked like such a knockout."
I couldn't but groan as I put my hand over my face, trying to hide my blush.
I could hear him getting out of the chair laughing like a maniac.
"Oh man, I'm going to have a blast with her."
I already have a feeling he's like the male version of Carla, but twice as worse.
So that's just what we did for who knows how long, Rose, as she prefers me to call her, just sat there brushing and braiding my hair, and doing my makeup. I could vaguely hear the conversations going on around the house.
Rose quickly got one of her hand mirrors and handed it to me.
"Here take a look"
I looked in the mirror and saw she styled my hair into a side braid. The makeup she put on was flawless.
"Oh, wow it looks awesome. Thank you, I don't get dolled up like this too much, only when I sleepover with my friends or if I'm going out for a special occasion."
"Did your mom teach you how to do your makeup and hair?" Rose asked, though by her tone I could tell she didn't believe it.
I snorted "Oh heavens no, I think you know just as well as I do, mom is just not into that kind of stuff. When I first started learning to like straighten out my hair or try out different styles, I used YouTube tutorials online, same with makeup, but thankfully when I became friends with Carla, she helped me out a lot with practicing how to apply and all that."
"What's your favorite brand of make-up and clothes"
"I don't know; I mean I usually pick out what looks pretty and what makes me feel comfortable when I go to Walmart."
All of a sudden there was a crashing of glass from somewhere in the house.
"What was that."
Rose just sighed.
Suddenly Alice was at the threshold of the door, looking at me like I just wounded her.
"What did you just say."
My brows furrowed together, not understanding what the problem was.
"I-I don't" I started to say until Alice interrupted.
"About Walmart"
"Yeah, I shop at Walmart for all my clothes and makeup," I said slowly, not seeing what the problem is.
Alice's mouth just hung open for a moment before she ran off as she screamed "BELLA"
I turned to Rose confused, over what just happened
"If there's one thing you need to know about Alice, she's a fashion addict. I mean I am too, but not to Alice's extreme. Nothing in our wardrobe is anything less than the brand name."
"Oh" was all I could say.
Rose got up and grabbed my hand "Come one let us go and stop the little pixie before she harasses your mom too bad"
By the time we got downstairs, almost everyone was back in the living room where we had started at.
"Alice, I think you're making too big of a deal of this"
"My niece shops at Walmart Bella, Walmart."
I decided to step in
"It's fine, Walmart has some great clothes and makeup at reasonable prices"
Alice just looked at me exasperated before she came over and put her hands on my shoulders, looking me straight in the eyes.
"I missed almost 10 years of your life, and I promise you I will show you a much better way."
Several of the Cullen's were just shaking their heads as they laughed.
Mom decided it was time to interfere.
"Well, I think it's getting quite late, and you got school tomorrow."
I looked and it was already past 10.
"Can't we stay a bit longer mom; I mean your off tonight?"
Mom looked conflicted "Well don't forget Jake, we don't need him worrying if we are out too long.
I groaned knowing she was right, and I really couldn't wait to tell Jacob everything that happened.
"Your mom's right, I would hate for you to ruin your sleep schedule, we have all the time in the world now to get to know one another" Esme said with such a sweet motherly smile.
"Come on I'll drive you both home," Edward said.
After several emotional goodbyes with several of the Cullens", we were currently on the way back to our house.
Mom and Edward were completely silent, as I just sat in the passenger seat with a huge smile on my face, watching the scenery go by.
Edward then broke the silence by asking "So did you enjoy yourself tonight"
"Yes, it was everything I imagined it would be," I said with the excitement still fresh in my voice and mind.
"I told you everyone would love you." Mom said.
"I know," I said, feeling a bit embarrassed.
Soon we pulled up to the house, the lights were still on and I could hear the TV blasting from out here, so Jake was still up.
Edward got out and opened both of our doors.
"So, I'll see you tomorrow then in class," I asked.
"I'll be there, you two have a good night. Hopefully, I'll see you soon Bella" he asked.
Mom just slowly nodded "Yeah"
Mom then turned to me and said "We'll let's get inside, Jacob's probably ready to hear all about tonight."
I smiled as I started making my way to the house, ecstatic that my family is finally complete.
