It's been three days since the cyborg came in and refused to turn the song off. Clearly Mare's doomed to listen to it forever. The pain, the numbness, the hallucinations, keep coming and going, getting better and getting much, much worse with each go around of this song. He can feel it slowly seeping into his brain like a wet blanket and he honestly wants to scream. He knows nobody's coming. Nobody ever comes.
"Mare."
The spirit looks up to see Dark stood on the other side of the plastic prison wall. The demon's mouth is set in a firm line as he glares, though there's a touch of something else in his gaze. Mare doesn't know what it is. All he knows is that this is the last person he wants to see.
"Piss off." he grumbles.
"You know he's just using you." A statement, not a question, as Dark adjusts his suit cuffs.
"Like you give a shit what I do." There's an attempt at spite, but it falls a bit flat.
"When it affects this building, I do." Dark continues to watch him, seeming like he's waiting for something. Mare just stares at the wall beside him. Ass wants him to wilt, he's not going to give him the sastisfaction.
"Anything to protect your family, right?"
When he'd learned that Dark was gathering people, bringing together weirdos that the world wanted to go away, Natemare had been desperate to be a part of it. A place to belong. But apparently he didn't fit the weirdness outline just right. No, apparently Natemare didn't quite fit the very specific mold that gives you free pass to be a part of this family.
"Is that why you've gone after Bing?"
Natemare stays silent. Yeah, he hates that Bing made it into this stupid dumbass family - what the fuck does that cyborg contribute? - but there's more to this than petty revenge. Of course that doesn't fit in with the grey ass's simplistic view of the spirit though. So fuck him. He doesn't deserve to know.
"Make sure the door hits you on the way out." he mutters.
Dark sighs, a flash of disappointment on his face as he turns to leave. "I expected better of you."
Mare huffs a sarcastic laugh. Yeah. He doesn't believe that for a second.
