Her first memory was staring up at the cloud-filled sky, she now was looking up at it again, she was once again in her mother's arms, she cries out, that's when they arrived, Sae and Tri, they had her Digimon partner, at least it's eggs, it was going to hatch out, I gurgled happily as I see the egg. It hatched right before my eyes. It was a small white blob with wings. Digimon partner in hand with my parents looking down at me with loving eyes, my future looking brighter than a shooting star. But that's when the screeching figure appears once again, it screeches and charges at her, its face cloaked in midnight. Mitsuko wakes up, covered in sweat, it was still night time, and she hadn't slept much, they had to duck into a cave to away Kane, but how long till he found them again, how long till.
"Good Morning," Gatomon said, presenting her master with breakfast.
"where were you when that Digimon was attacking?" Mitsuko said, knowing the answer she was going to get.
"I am afraid of fire, two fire Digimon were going at it, you know that was the same for when you came here to play, I will never like fire, it scorches my luxurious fur" Gatomon answered, shyly looking away from Mitsuko.
Mitsuko sighed at her partner's answer, then laughed "If you weren't so adorable, I would have attempted to swap you out for a more capable fighter"
"It's good to hear you laughing with your current situation, do you like that boy?" Gatomon said, playfully teasing Mitsuko, causing her face to turn red.
"No I don't like him," Mitsuko said, sheepishly, trying to pat away the red in her cheeks, so Huang wouldn't see her like this.
On that queue Huang returned from doing lookout at the entrance of the cave, "No sign of the General" he said, ignoring the expression on Mitsuko's face, on his arrival. "in a few hours we head out, and make our way to satapia" Babydmon woke up briefly on Huang's shoulder, but quickly fell back into sleeping, drool running down the side of his mouth.
Gatomon looked at Babydmon curiously "How long does your Digimon partner sleep in a day, he seems like he sleeps a lot, that's the impression I get from way back when we started traveling with you, the only time he has ever been awake is during battles" she asked Huang, pointing to his shoulder.
"Yes pretty, my partner is a lazy Digimon, I wish I could break him of that habit, but nothing ever works, and I have given up trying, it's impossible to teach him anything," Huang said, embarrassed about the reminder of his snoozing Digimon partner.
They slowly made their way to the entrance of the cave, Huang with Mitsuko behind him, he was being her protective shield, if they bumped into Kane again, seemed to know this area as much as Mitsuko herself. As far as it appeared, there were only wild Digimon in the area, and lucky for them none of them seemed like a fire Digimon.
"How long till we reach, your kingdom?" Huang asked, not even looking at the princess, while he asked his question, keeping his awareness on all movement around them.
Mitsuko stepped out of the cave, and looked around, "at least a day or two, if we keep close to that river" Mitsuko said, after looking around for a couple of minutes. "That was the river I floated down when I escaped my kingdom.
"Ok let's keep, we don't want to be spotted in the open in here, by that general of yours," Huang said, tapping the princess on the arm.
-elsewhere in the swamp-
The DigiDestined with Juniko, continued down the road, through the swamp, which they had to keep to the center of, as it was outlined with fire sometimes, as some plants permanently ablaze but not burning away what so ever, it was really weird to behold.
"and we thought the Wildwoods was weird with all of Kitsumon's illusions?" Mikuni observed, looking around.
"Nah, that was weirder in so many ways, this is bizarre, some of those illusions still haunt me when I sleep at night" Takajin replied, as he fought to keep Sunmon from playing in said fires.
As they traveled, they spotted a grouping of tents, about ten of them, people sitting in front of each tent, about 3 people in front of each tent. When these people spotted, the DigiDestined, they armed themselves.
"Digidestined?" a voice called out from one of them, who then stepped to reveal a figure wearing a hat with blond hair, wearing shabby looking light blue armor.
"Yes, we are Digidestined, we were escorting a princess back to her kingdom," Juniko said, with her hands in the air as a gesture of we mean no harm.
"We are the Anti-Anarchy rebels, we are here to help her regain this kingdom, I see she made it to some help, I am glad to see this" Blonde Rebel said, as he saluted the DigiDestined. "where is the true queen of Satapia?"
"She went ahead of us, most likely through another part of the swamp, with another DigiDestined, we are hoping to meet up with them when we get to Satapia, we were trying to delay the General and his lackeys, but the General got passed us," Takajin said, as he was looking around at the rebels to take the measure of them, and noticed Mikuni was doing the same, they were both wondering if this was enough people to get them into the royal palace, to overthrow Queen Anarchy.
"She is strong, no matter what you think of her, she will bring peace once again to Satapia, I am Arteku, nice to meet the DigiDestined," Said the Blond Rebel, offering his hand to Juniko. "Even the darkest night will end and the Light of the true Queen will rise, now will you join in our crusade to punish those who eclipse her?"
"I am sorry we forgot to introduce ourselves," Juniko said, before pointing at each DigiDestined, and giving each their names. "it's nice meeting you too, Arteku"
"We have the element of surprise, Queen Anarchy will not see this coming" very enthusiastically said a rebel with burgundy hair, with the same attire, as the blond, but with a flame print bandana
"Sadly, we don't, Queen Anarchy, let us through the flame barrier, she knows where are coming," Takajin said, letting them know about how they got into the swamp. He watched Burgundy haired rebel's jaw seemed to drop wide.
"WE are so screwed, she's going to kill us all, we will burn to ashes, and use us as Digimon litter boxes Burgundy haired rebel, said in a complete panic "Game over, Man!" he was stopped by a right-hand slap from Mikuni, ignoring the dual face palmed expressions of Juniko and Takajin.
As Champion of justice, I have faced ugly situations, which I have never given up on, that attitude is not welcome around me, especially with a potential ally against evil, I don't want to hear that tone again" Mikuni said, giving a very intense stern look at the burgundy haired rebel.
"Excuse our friend here, but you don't know Queen Anarchy as we do, she is a fire that will burn all, who get in her way, her fury has no bounds, didn't she show her power to you when she appeared in the flames of the barrier of the swamp, it took all our courage to form this resistance, and to flee here to organize, please don't look down on Dai, he means well with what he says, he momentarily forgets why we are all here," Another rebel said shyly, this time a girl with light brown skin complexion, and black hair, she wore no armor like her fellow rebels, she wore a weird dress of various colors "Sorry, My name is Minnal Varma, but… My… friends… call… me… Mina" shrunk away from Mikuni's intense gaze, like a mouse seeking a hiding spot from a hungry predator.
"Anyone else wants to make excuses, anyone wants to make me sick listening to whimper on how powerful this queen is, We the digidestined will take her down, all you need is to get us there to deal with her," Mikuni said, looking at everyone in the gathering rebel crowd.
Juniko took her hand away from her face "I am sorry for the intensity of my companion, but Mikuni is right, she could have phrased it less harsh, but it already been said, and it's too late for sugar coating" she said, placing a hand on Mikuni's stomach like she was going to restrain her. "These look like soldiers to you, they are probably average citizens that have been tormented by an evil queen, you need to calm down" she whispered under her breath so it couldn't only be audible to them and not the crowd, she was trying not to panic.
Mikuni audibly sighed "We don't have time, to handhold a rebellion, we need to catch up with Mitsuko, it's her fight, to be a beacon for," she said brushing away Juniko's hand.
"This doesn't sound like the Mikuni I know, Champion of Justice, leaving them to their fate doesn't sound like justice to me?" Takajin said, stepping into Mikuni's path.
Mikuni seemingly ignored Takajin and continued, and turned to face the rebels again "These guys aren't trained in combat, we have fought things like this, we should just leave them behind and we will deal with this on our own" she said, turning away from them again.
"But we don't want the princess to be alone even with legendary digidestined, we ignored her pain, we let her run from the castle," Minnal said, timidly averting her gaze from Mikuni. "She saved my life, so I want to save her life in return, where ever she is, she needs me"
-Further in the swamp-
"Did this monster you called Queen Anarchy kill your parents?" Huang asked, out of nowhere, he was finally bringing the subject up.
"Yes She did kill them, that monster not only killed my advisors but killed my parents, she vaporized them when they stood in the way of what she wanted, I see it in my nightmares almost every night!" Mitsuko said, nearly shouting at Huang, she leaned into his shoulder and started to cry.
"We have that in common, I think mentioned this before, my parents were murdered by the Kurokami brigade, I don't know if you have heard of them, they were a Cult that worshipped Lilithmon, they were killing people hoping it bring it would bring forth the reincarnation of their deity, and it eventually worked but at the cost of many lives," Huang said, while he patted Mitsuko on the head.
"If they did this to summon the reincarnation, how did you come to term with the reincarnation turning out to be a fellow digidestined, and became friends with them instead of enemies," Mitsuko asked, looking at Huang with curiosity, waiting for his answer.
"I realized Lilithmon wasn't evil and was missing her heart, which awakened in the end and save the entire world, so I forgave her for those who spoke in her name" Huang replied, as he stopped patting Mitsuko, causing the girl to sigh in disappointment.
"You know what I was doing when my parents were murdered right in front of me?" Mitsuko said, then pausing for effect "I was arguing with them, I said I hated them, right before they were cut down by Queen Anarchy, because of her I can never take that back" That's when she tripped, Huang tried to stop her but, was pulled into the fall too, they tumbled till, until was on top of her, there was a minute of awkward eye contact, before she shoved him off of her, while shouting "Get off me you, pervert!"
They continued like that hadn't happened, with both heads on a swivel, incase the General shows up again since they hadn't seen him in quite some time, who knew where he was lurking.
"You were friends with that General guy, Right?" Huang asked, turning to face a perceived motion but it had been just a breeze.
"He was more than a friend, he was…like Family, I loved him like… like a big brother, I still don't understand his betrayal too, I wish he would have told us he wasn't happy with his status in the kingdom or if we were mistreating him in some way, he was… like a big brother to me, I would have done anything for him to be happy…I would have died for him," Mitsuko said, trying hard not to cry, but a tear managed to break free and slid down her cheek, she paused briefly at a passing pond, at her reflection, and lingered on it for a few seconds, as Huang watched.
"We never know the evils or good that lurks in the heart of people, the world is nothing but shades of grey, I learned that the hard way, the person I thought killed my family, was the one who saved my brothers, and she is currently taking good care of them like they were her children, I guess General Gemini Kane, was not a good person in the end," Huang said, not noticing the angry look he got for bad-mouthing the general, when he looked at Mitsuko, that expression was completely gone.
"You might be right, I must have not known him at all, if he could have fooled me as he had done," Mitsuko said, with a sigh of regret, after she stopped talking, That's with an enormous explosion of fire, SkullMeramon, landed several feet in front "Peek a boo, I found you!" he said, in its rasping deep voice.
"Run, Princess, I'll keep him away from you," Huang said, stepping in between, SkullMeramon and Mitsuko.
"If He's here, Kane will be close by, have you forgotten that quickly that is his Digimon partner, I could be running right into grasp" Mitsuko yelled, at Huang.
"Well Excuse Me, Princess, for caring!" Huang replied, shouting back at Mitsuko, as General stepped out from behind a bush.
"Come back with me princess, and let the digidestined just go home, you don't need them in your kingdom,
They are not needed" General Gemini Kane said, in what sounded like a pleading tone, with an edge of sarcasm.
"Now you can run, Princess, I'll keep them busy?" Huang asked, looking in Mitsuko's direction, but instead, she grabbed him and pulled him into a run behind her.
"No one else is dying because of me, not you or anyone else," Mitsuko said while continuing to drag a protesting Huang behind her, as foliage kept hitting him in the face. "We almost to the gate, it's this way I remember" they kept running past what appeared to be a weird-looking cave, that eradiated a strange but soothing presence. Huang turned to look at it, as they passed. They continued to run, with the general shouting at them, until they spotted the gate in the distance, they only had to cross a log that bridged a large chasm to get to it, before they could cross, the log exploded in blue fire.
-Juniko, Takajin, Mikuni, Leoben, and the rebels-
"We are heading to the first gate, from how you described the swamp, where the princess had entered, she would likely be heading there," Mina said, pointing at a place on a map she was holding. "Yes this swamp is kinda weird that way, this whole swamp is surrounding with mini portals, that at times could randomly deposit you anywhere within the swap, it's to prevent invasion if anyone got through the firewall, you need to use a gate to get through the storm wall, that's passed the swamp"
"for a kingdom that was invaded by an evil, how the heck did she get through all this without help," Mikuni asked with a raised eyebrow.
"She had help, General Gemini Kane helped get passed it all, then tricked the royal guard that she was an emissary of peace then she tried to murder the royal family, she got the king and queen and imprisoned the princess," Mina said, nervously.
"People say it was the curse of Trisiras, that brought this upon our kingdom, but that is just a fairy tale to scare little children into behaving," Arteku said, uncomfortably.
"What is Trisiras?" Juniko asked, thinking that word sounded familiar but didn't know exactly from where or even where she had heard it before.
Mina clapped her hands together suddenly "ok I'll tell you it" she said, before starting to pound her shoulder Rhythmically in place with her chanting "Di... di... di... Digimon! Digimon!" she was joined by the rest of the rebels.
"Silence, You Children of Lilithmon…. And heed my tale of time's beginning, all was dark, all were from the void, all was a vast ocean of stars, there was no sky, nor grass, no water, nor was there earth, of course, three celestial beings shot through the gasping nothingness, Lilithmon, Lorrimon, and Erebosmon" Mina said, before Mikuni interrupted her.
"We all know the world's origin, how does have anything to do with Trisiras, can you get to the point," Mikuni said, looking very annoyed at her, causing Mina to back away slowly once again.
"Sorry I was getting to that, please don't hurt me," Mina said, not making eye contact with Mikuni. "Erebosmon, sowed the seed of destruction, one of the first of all beings, whom was struck down, by Lilithmon and Lorrimon, then Cruelly imprisoned their brother for doing, they being too angry to care that it was out of love" she paused for a minute before continuing, "This Imprisonment had an unforeseen after effect, it summoned a calamity from the sky, she arrived, seeking the power of chaos, to take Erebosmon's place, she consumed life like water, demanding to see the creators of this world. when it looked like she was going to absorb all life, Lilithmon descended from her tower, she held her gaze at the calamity that had come from the sky, her eyes flamed of nature's fury. The being declared her name was Trisiras, she demanded to take the mantle of chaos, Lilithmon replied by saying they already had one of those, once Erebosmon was freed, he would take that spot again, it's just a matter of when that would happen. Trisiras was furious, and lashed out at Lilithmon, in this action it proved that Trisiras was not worthy of the power, she was demanding, and she would not likely change, to prove otherwise, Lilithmon returned with her own attack, destroying Trisiras, seemingly putting an end to her existence.
"So you are saying that this being called Trisiras, could be back and taking on a new identity as Queen Anarchy?" Juniko asked, in confusion. "I have never heard this story before, but the name does sound familiar, maybe it's from my previous life as Lilithmon memory"
"I don't really think of it as fairy tale though it's more of a parable, a cautionary story that parents tell their children into not asking for too much of Lilithmon, or she would destroy them like Trisiras, I don't believe it happened, but who knows with annals of time and what has been forgotten," Arteku said, waving off Mina from Contradicting him. "It's also too old of a story to confirm or deny, it's supposed to have happened before much life was on this planet, supposedly passed on by the Digi gnomes, who were created by Lorrimon"
"That was an interesting story," Takajin said, looking over at Juniko, trying to picture her destroying a being that came from outer space. "Whatever is going on we need to catch up with the princess, and Huang before that general does again"
They waited until the rebels had taken down their encampment, which went surprisingly fast, and then they were off to catch up with Mitsuko, and Huang, hopefully before it was too late. It appeared that they were closer to the stormgate than they thought they were, as it appeared in the distance, a door that appeared to be freestanding in front of an enormous storm, once they were close enough they set up camp again to wait for the princess to arrive, right as they settled, a huge upside-down pyramid started phasing into existence, causing both Takajin and Mikuni to simultaneous facepalm, they had forgotten that the archive, could have saved them from having to do such a long many days journey, stepping out of it was Hikaru, and Virgil, Sorami stood at the Entrance of the archive, not coming out like the other, unlike her they hadn't relinquished their Digi chips. Moonmon and Starmon followed their respective masters. Takajin hugged his older sister as he met up with Hikaru, and then waved hello to Sorami, who waved back at him, then Juniko waved to Sorami, with her response of her turning around and re-entering the archive like she hadn't, but it was obvious she had, and didn't want to look at her, which was understandable, last time, they had seen each other was the day, she had killed her father, Tajiri Kamiya, Sorami knew she had to do it, but there had been no other way, the man had gone completely, and she did help her do so, Juniko decided to let Sorami continue to have her own space to deal with it.
"Virgil, I have something to ask about, have you heard of something called a Trisiras, these people told us a folktale about it, an interesting story that I never heard before?" Takajin asked, turning to face Virgil.
"I guess, it's a story passed by the Digi gnomes, I would take those very seriously, they were one of the creatures were one of the first things created by Lorrimon, it is assumed that the very sun is made from them, sadly the story they told is the only one available in the archive, they are only a brief blip in the history of the world" Virgil answered while shaking his head in disappointment, that he couldn't give a better answer. "So that enormous storm is the city of Satapia, how a kingdom can exist unharmed in such a destructive force"
"It is a scary sight to behold but yet very beautiful, the question is how do we get through that without getting ourselves torn to shreds by it instead," Juniko said, feeling goosebumps all over, scared and excited at the same time.
"The Princess must have a way through, we just need to meet up with her, when we get there, it just makes sense, she did come out of there, but by the will of the great old ones, we will get in there and rescue the people from whatever is causing them harm," Virgil said, making a strong proclamation, for being the oldest now of the Digidestined, but never coming off as patronizing in any way shape or form, he always made everyone feel like his equal, unless they insulted any of the great old ones, as Juniko was the reincarnation of one, he looked at her with eminence she felt she doesn't deserve yet, and it made her uncomfortable.
Hours passed, and they got closer to the storm, they felt its sheering force, but was not pushed away by it or either pulled in by it, it felt like a centralized trembling, it got scarier the closer they got to it, as they got near enough to touch, it started to clear and standing there was Mitsuko and Huang, Juniko ran up and hugged them both, happy to see them again, she had been worried that she wouldn't have ever seen them, the last time was watching him and Mitsuko jumping into the fire together, followed by the General, she kept wondering what would have happened when he caught up with them.
"How did you get ahead of us," Mikuni asked before Juniko could get a word in edgewise.
"and look I was right and here she is," Virgil said before either Mitsuko or Huang could answer Mikuni's question, then bowed out so they could.
"We used my secret gate, the one I used after my parents forbade me from going into the swamp again, Kane destroyed the way to the main gate and forced us to have to use it," Mitsuko said, pointing to the right of her Before Huang started retelling the ordeal.
