Chapter 12
In the final moments of the green soul of kindness, I saw that it was a female and that she was from the 1930's, her dress looking very dirty because of the Great Depression. But despite that, she managed to make it all the way through the Underground by showing her kindness to all. Hell, even Undyne didn't stop her because of her being immune to her green attack and sparing her with the water jug in Hotland like Frisk did in the main game.
Despite this, when she finally reached the throne room, she had a plan. A plan she thought to be foolproof. She had some of Toriel's butterscotch cinnamon pie in a box and proceeded to enter the throne room, where she was standing in front of Asgore, who looked at her with a frown.
"Um... hi, mister Asgore... I've heard a lot about you. My name is Gretel," she said, me smirking at that name. And Asgore frowned at her still.
"I see... but, you know what needs to be done now, I'm sure," he said, him then hitting his trident to the ground and showing that he had 4 of the souls on him. And that meant that Gretel was the one that got here prior to Flower!
"Wait... I wanted to ask if we could make peace, not war... I have a gift for you," Gretel asked as she laid the box on the ground, Asgore frowning at her.
"No," he said, Gretel gulping. She was scared, as expected.
"Please just open it?... I-I can even stick around here and cook for you. Don't you just want a family aga-" she was about to finish. But when she mentioned family, Asgore then slashed his trident into her torso, making Gretel gurgling blood from the swiftness of it... but, even through the pain, she then opened the box... and when she did, Asgore looked in it and he immediately regretted it.
The moment he saw the slice of pie made by his lost wife, with a note that said "Asgore, I beg of you, spare Gretel if no one else. Toriel.", he fell to his knees and began to weep. And Gretel smiled at him and placed her hands on his shoulder, despite being on death's door.
"I don't blame you, Asgore... but... humans shouldn't perish... by the actions of a few..." she said with a gag before then finally dying, Asgore then getting her soul and sighing. The vision ended shortly after Asgore sadly took the pie and ate it, tears continuing to flow down his face as he ate it, obviously depressed beyond all belief.
When I finished the vision this time, I forced myself not to gasp out loud, but it did hurt my throat in the process, causing me to cough a lot instead. And it was just as we entered the Temmie Village with Undyne leading me by the hand.
"Cough drop?" Frisk asked, me clearing my throat after.
"I felt the urge to gasp awake when the vision ended, but I held it in, and then it hurt my throat," I groaned.
"aawawa! HoomaNs! soo Cooot!" said one of the Temmies in the village, me seeing there were roughly 15 of them and they looked at me with intrigue and excitement.
"DAW! They're all so cute! What are your names little ones?" Frisk asked when she saw them. And all of them but one said the same thing.
"HOI! I'm Temmie!" they all shouted at once. As for the lone detractor?
"Hi. I'm Bob," Bob said afterwards, that actually causing Chara to laugh for the first time ever in her new body. "Yep, works every time," he smirked.
"Hi, so, how are you weirdos doing lately?" Undyne asked.
"Oh! We hear aboot hoomans on TellyV! We no believe it, tho! Hoomans two nice an' coot!" the one Temmie smiled widely as I noted that there was another one among them that I recognized, it being one of the ones that I rescued from the True Lab.
"Why not come to the Tem Shop? We have a special item just for you," she said with a smile and a straight face as she led me and our group there and she showed off the new item, it being a set of Temmie Armor, me looking at it with intrigue as I heard the voice of Gretel appear in my head.
"I know that armor! It belonged to the only human warrior that fought for the monsters' side, it being King Charles IV," she said, me being surprised at that. Especially since kings weren't really the nicest of folks.
"Yeah, he was especially protective of us Temmies! We were very popular in Rome's royal house, so he fought with us... but he died in the final fight, us Temmies grabbing his armor and taking it with us to this mountain. We were led here all by the mean humans and Charles's corpse was thrown down the volcano mountain in Hotland. He was our favorite, our original rich history," Temmie behind the counter said, me then asking her a serious question.
"I see... two questions one, do you have a nickname other than Temmie? And two, how much for the armor?" I asked, her smiling at me.
"My name is Penny, Bob's mother," she smirked at me. "I neglected to thank you for rescuing me from my plight with Mrs. Drake, so I'll sell this armor to you for only 60 dollars," she said, me looking at my wallet and seeing that it would pretty much clear me out, but it would be worth it, since I had a feeling that Frisk could use that armor to protect her from any attack, specifically from Flowey.
"Sold," I smirked as I gave her three 20's, leaving me only 7 dollars to my name. But it was worth it, especially when I then gave it to Frisk and she placed it over top her sweater. And she smirked at it.
"Wow, it fits perfectly! And... for some reason, I feel tougher!" Frisk smirked widely, Penny smirking at her.
"That's cos it's imbued with his soul's essence. It had an LV of 5, but his soul was one of Luck, so his was not meant for attacking, but for defense and getting lucky," she explained, me smiling at that.
"I wonder how many he defeated to get that LV?" Chara asked, not even bothering to hide her voice, as I was now on round-the-clock Flowey patrol with my other minds in my body always looking out for his Determination strengths.
"He killed roughly 100 humans to save us monsters, but then he got killed by them in the final battle when they used nightshade gas to kill him and the other monsters in the fight before the king surrendered," Penny explained.
"Only 100 humans, and he only gets an LV of 5? That's weird to me," I admitted.
"Killing humans in war is not good for gaining LV. Killing humans just because you want to without any cares? That gets you way more than normal," Chara explained.
"Man... I didn't know that human souls could be so unique and dangerous," Undyne admitted.
"We have rules on the surface for that very reason. No human is allowed to kill for any of those reasons. And when the higher-ups find out about it, then they move in and eliminate the threat for the good of the world... I think the most recent one was a bad guy who tried to kill all humans called Hitler. He had managed to force a bunch of soldiers to kill millions of humans in an attempt to rule the world, but we stopped him by converging on his nation and stopping him. But he neglected to make them follow the LV rule, so he only managed 3 million before we offed the lot of them," Frisk explained.
"Peh, much different than my world. Where souls don't do that and where Hitler managed to kill 6 million Jewish people as well as over a million other people just because they were not pure German... despite the fact that he wasn't a pure German either," I pouted.
"Your world? Is there something I'm not getting told here?" Undyne asked me.
"I was sent here from another world by doctor Gaster because, apparently, I'm the angel of the prophecy. And that my true powers wouldn't form completely until I got a total of 7 souls' memories absorbed into me. I've got 6 so far, only one left... and my world was much different in terms of certain things. Humans are the only monsters, there are no such things as magic, and human souls don't come out of your chest upon death... in fact, no one is even sure in my world if souls exist at all. Apparently they do, but it's locked out of our abilities for some reason," I frowned.
"Maybe because of all the sin?" Chara asked.
"Y'know what? That's the best excuse I've heard," I admitted as I then looked at my watch and saw that it was almost 10 in the morning. "How about we get going back on track to Hotland? I want to try and prove to Mettaton and the other monsters that we're not dangerous and we can save the Underground," I smiled.
"I'd come with you, but I don't like being in Hotland. It's uh... too hot," Undyne admitted.
"Well, you could always watch us on Alphys's console," I smiled.
"Oh yeah, I guess I could! Okay, let's get going!" Undyne smirked as we then went on the way to Hotland, me seeing that Norm was waiting for us at the lab with a smile, mainly because he insisted on staying the night at Alphys's place so he could talk to his sister about everything.
"Maybe we could have something to drink from her, too?" Flower asked from my head, me smirking at her.
"Sure, besides, I'm getting kind of thirsty," I smiled as we then bid farewell to the Temmies and we then went towards Hotland, walking the whole way there. And when we reached Alphys's house, we saw that the Royal Guards weren't there, but there were Papyrus and Sans, the duo looking to be bickering.
"UGH! WHY DO I HAVE TO BE AT THIS CROSSROADS FOR NO REASON, SANS?" Papyrus asked.
"simple. 01 and 02 told us to. they outrank us... yeah," Sans said with a yawn as I looked at them and Papyrus smiled at us.
"OH! IT'S THE HU... MANS... WHY IS THERE A THIRD ONE OF YOU THAT'S NOT COLORFUL?" he asked, Chara sighing at that.
"Maybe because of someone that we managed to rescue giving them a second chance," I smiled.
"You don't need to keep calling me they anymore, okay? I know you keep deleting she and her when you mean to write 'they' when referring to me," Chara said, me looking at her in shock. Did she just break 16 walls?! "Yes, I did. And before you ask, it's because of mister Gaster," Chara said, me being surprised at that.
"WAIT... PAPA GASTER?! WHERE IS HE?!" Papyrus asked in shock as Gaster then spoke from Chara's mouth.
"I'm right here, Papyrus. It's been a long time, I know," Gaster said, Papyrus gasping as Sans looked shock, both then getting big smiles with tears coming from their eyesockets before they both went to Chara and hugged her, making the human annoyed while the skeleton family had been reunited.
"Could I get in on this hug?" asked the voice of Grandma Semi, Papyrus's eyes getting even bigger with tears as the grandmother skeleton joined the hug.
"Okay... this is the weirdest hug I've ever felt... but it also feels nice for some reason," Chara admitted.
"Can we go inside the lab now? I hate being this close to the lava," Undyne asked.
"Actually, could I ask for you to help me and Arnotta back home to Snowdin? I want to see the looks on our parents' faces when they see her again," Norm requested with a smirk. Undyne smirked and nodded at that as she then led the duo down to the River Person and simply got on the ferry. As for Sans and Papyrus, the duo then got back to work at being at the crossroads while Grandma Semi stood with them.
"You go on ahead, I'll call you with help from Alphys after I get these two home," Undyne said, me nodding as our trio then went into the lab and saw Alphys was watching an anime that made me smile. Mew Mew Kissy Cutie, it being a movie based on Mew Mew Power. It was perfect.
"Oh, Mew Mew, you're the best," Alphys smiled at the show on the big screen as I then walked next to Alphys and I saw her hand tense when I did so. "I-I... um... hi again..." she said with a bit of concern as I smiled and simply watched the scene along with her. Where Mew Mew was going to the ice cream shop with her friends and how she got snail ice cream, as... well... she was still getting used to human society?... Maybe this was a prequel to Mew Mew Power? Or maybe it was another thing entirely?
"I think I've seen this movie before. It heavily references Mew Mew Power, but was also very blatant about taking plotlines and character designs from it. Yet it still got super popular, more so than Mew Mew Power ever could be," Flower said in my mouth, which made Alphys blush a lot.
"I know that's the truth, but I love Mew Mew Kissy Cutie way more, since Mew Mew Power did have the issue of it's dubbing studio... nobody's ever going to top the terrible dubbing of 4Kids," she smirked.
"At least that stays the same between dimensions... do I need to explain that to you as well, Alphys?" I asked, her shaking her head no.
"I saw everything and watched your different interactions on the way over here before... you-know-what happened. I know you're from another universe and that you're the angel of prophecy, despite having no memories of such," she admitted to me.
"Well, at least that means that, even if it sounds implausible, anime is real," I smirked.
"Yeah, I guess so! Now I won't have to feel bad when I tell that to Undyne!" she smiled. "So, why are you visiting me, per chance?" she asked.
"Mainly because a certain robot has been told by that annoying plant that me, Chara, and Frisk are exceedingly dangerous and are hoping to kill the Underground when I get the memories of the 7th soul, that being the yellow one. I need to ask for your help to try and watch over me on this screen to try and assist if we need it," I said, her nodding at me.
"I-I think I can handle that. But first, we both know that your phones need some upgrades... and that Chara needs a phone in general," she said, me being surprised as she then took the phones from me and Frisk and then proceeded to fix them up with tons of electrical magics that combined the pieces with magic and technology to make our phones amazing. "Here, upgrade complete. Now you can do face time, texting, a special Justice Shot button, a jet pack with some fuel, and I signed you three up to the Undernet. Now you can spread awareness of your plans to everyone," she smirked.
"How did you know about us needing phone upgrades?" I asked her.
"Well... though it may sound bizarre... I happened to find a video tape that was of this adventure... apparently someone taped it on a VHS of them playing Undertale... it's how I knew that you'd come by at some point and that I had to be careful that you didn't hurt anyone, lest I need to evacuate the others," she said, me simply petting her on her head, me seeing that her top part was like hair that was more like hair than skin.
"I'm not a murderer, and I'd never want to kill anyone," I smiled at her.
"Same," Frisk smirked as Chara stayed silent.
"And uh... I know not to do so, but only because there's no way I could get payback on the bastards that killed my family on the surface," Chara said with a sigh.
"Y'know, Chara, I've always wanted to ask something about that story. How come you escaped the fate that your family got?" I asked, her sighing at that.
"It's because my mom had me run away when she heard that we were going to get lynched. So, I ran off to the top of the mountain as I saw that they'd killed my parents after dragging them out of the house. And when they realized I wasn't there, they got out to dogs to sniff me out. I jumped into the mountain's hole so I could end my life. I didn't want to give them the satisfaction," she sighed.
"That's... well... I'm sure that, if your mom is still around, she wouldn't blame you for anything that happened," Frisk said with concern, Chara then being touched by Frisk's armor... and then she gasped.
"M-Momma?" she asked, me being confused as I looked around in confusion, same with Alphys.
"What's uh... what's going on?" Bete asked in my head. I then got the idea to touch Frisk's armor and then, I heard something.
"It's okay, Chara... we still love you... and we're still watching over you in heaven," the voice said, me hearing it as an accent of Ye Olde English, me smiling at that.
"Is that... your mom?" I asked, Chara nodding at me.
"I wanted to let you know, darling... we've also been trapped in this mountain as well, as our spirits watched over you ever since our deaths. But as for our souls, they are locked within this armor that is on your friend... it's the only way we can speak to you effectively," the mother said, me smiling at that.
"Then maybe Chara should get that armor instead?" Frisk suggested before I could.
"Um... okay, sure..." Chara smiled as they then switched with each other and I smiled at how, afterwards, Chara's body simply exuded with strength.
"Wow... I feel... strong... yet calm..." Chara said with a sigh.
"And I feel something else... I feel the strengths of more than your family and the Charles in here... I can also feel the spirits of the family members of the other fallen humans," Gaster said, me gawking at that as Bete then spoke.
"MOMMY?!" she asked in shock as she then touched the armor, and we then heard a voice.
"Bete?... I never thought I'd hear your voice again..." said the voice of an adult woman, me smirking at that.
"Same with all of us... so which of us should wear the armor, then? Because it has Chara's parents in it, but also the family members of everyone in miss Malory's head, minus Flower's, as they're still alive," said another voice, it being a male one that I sensed was Brutis's dad.
"I uh... I think I may have an idea, but it might be drastic..." I said, Chara looking at me in confusion. "Maybe I can get your mom and dad out of that armor and give their souls to different monsters we happen to know of?" I asked, that making Alphys smirk widely.
"It could be possible... try it out," she said, me then doing so and trying to use my magic to try and remove the souls of Chara's family from the armor... and after enough work, I gawked at how I managed to get three different souls from it! One was green, one was yellow, and the final was purple! I then looked at Chara and smiled.
"So, which monsters should we give their souls to?" I asked her, Chara smirking at that.
"I'd like my mom's soul to go to Toriel... but we'll need to give her a head's up before doing so... as for my dad's soul, give it to Papyrus... and Racter's soul will go to Norm," she said, me smirking as I then did so, but also made sure to do one more thing. I poked the yellow soul (it was her dad's) and doing so, I then felt... more powerful! I felt like I could do anything! I then not only put the souls of the different people into their respective monsters, but also told them in their heads that I was going to give them the souls of humans that were relatives to the former princess, and to protect them no matter what. And then, I felt it. I felt the power flow over me all over... I felt tons of memories enter my mind from the rest of the humans not just in the Underground, but also in the real world!... The good, the bad, and the ugly... but I also felt my mind expand and become more concise!... I then sighed in content as I then felt the power wane into my soul and I exhaled afterwards.
"Oh... my god..." Alphys gawked when she saw me, me looking around and seeing that my height remained the same... I then decided to look at myself on the screen... and when I did, I saw that, though my height and body shape remained the same, my body itself had some changes. I had 7 sets of spectral wings on my back, each flowing with all the colors of the rainbow of souls, white, black, and pink. I also had a second set of eyes atop my head as well as one more set of arms on my body! I looked terrifying, and I didn't like that... I then tried to make myself look more normal.. and smiled at how I could retreat each part inside of me, kind of like Stitch from Lilo and Stitch. It also made my power go down with every part I sent back into me. But I still had tons of it. Enough for me to then directly warp a cowboy hat to me that was all the way over in MTT hotel and found by Catty and Bratty, me touching it... and when I did so, I simply felt the final soul's memories enter my mind, it being the least interesting as the one of the soul of justice, her being called Avery, tried to shoot Undyne in the face with her gun, it jammed, and Undyne then killed her quickly and efficiently.
"I feel... like this is too much for me... what exactly happened?" asked the voice of Avery in my mind as Frisk and Chara looked at me with a smile as I then got the armor and put it on my back.
"I just became the angel of prophecy... and now, I do believe we are finally ready to get on our way to Mettaton. To prove I'm not dangerous to the Underground," I smirked.
