So, here's what happened since I last updated Dead Planet. KS finished his story Oasis AND started its sequel, along with updates from several other authors like Kajiu Knight, and I even saw an update from Cpt. Fox!
Where was I? I have no good answer for you guys. I suck, I'm sorry. Work, gaming, and just the biggest writers block that only faded a few hours ago just slammed the brakes on so hard that I didn't even want to think about writing for the longest time.
All I can hope for is that you'll enjoy this chapter of the Dead Planet, picking up right where we left off with all the mystery and some more drama between Fox and Krystal. That said, since I've been out of the writing loop for so long, I'm sure this sucks, even now, I'm bouncing to the end of the chapter to make some more changes. Anyway, enough rambling, it's a Tuesday, on to the story.
Star Fox: The Dead Planet Saga Act 2: The Dead Past Chapter 17: Renegade Heart
Krystal blinked. "Sarah O'Donnell...you mean..." Krystal shook her head. "Who would want to marry Wolf O'Donnell?"
Falco shrugged his shoulders. "Depending on who you ask, it was actually the other way around. The story goes that Wolf was running escort on a some cargo when this crazy lupine bombed the transports from the inside, before escaping in a fighter she had smuggled aboard. Wolf chased her down, but instead of killing her, brought her back to Sargasso. From there, they got married."
Krystal frowned. "Not sure if I believe it."
Falco frowned. "Believe it if you want, but I know what I saw." He scoffed. "Hard to mistake that hair of hers."
Fox jumped in as Krystal opened her mouth. "Speaking of, where did you see her?"
Falco crossed his arms as he started talking, "At the old starship yards, about ten miles out of Corneria City, the place is used for hover-bike races mainly, but occasionally, its used for a meeting ground. One of my old buddies wanted to go and visit the place and see if he could beat me in a race."
Katt interrupted Falco. "Wait, while I was busy trying to get information, you were off racing?"
Falco scoffed. "Hey, I was the one who found something, so does it matter what took me out that far?"
Katt frowned and shook her head. "Yes, yes it does..." she sighed and waved her hand. "But just go on."
Krystal chuckled softly as Katt's annoyed voice before Falco picked up where he left off. "Alright then, we got out to the yards, but there was nobody racing, which was odd, but then we started to notice all the guards that were patrolling the bays and canyons. As we were trying to figure out what was going on, we saw a black and red supply ship fly over and head for the far side of the yards. We took our rides around to some cliffs to take a look. Luckily my friend brought some binoculars and we took turns looking around to see if we recognized anybody. My friend was looking when she stepped off the ship, and he handed me the binoculars to see if I knew who just stepped off the ship. One look at her dark red fur and white hair tucked into a pony tail, with those creepy glowing eyes of hers was all I needed to know who she was."
Krystal frowned and glanced at Fox. "Glowing eyes? Like when we held the Krazoa spirits in our bodies?"
Fox shook his head. "No, She was born blind in one eye, and unlike Wolf who still uses the headpiece of his, she swapped her blind eye out with a cybernetic one. Who knows why she decided that she wanted it to glow red, but it left an impression. She scared so many people with that one, she swapped out her working eye with the same model."
Krystal scoffed. "That's a dumb reason to get rid of your eye."
Katt spoke up. "You say that now, but she came into my shop late one night and I about pissed myself when I looked up and saw two glowing red eyes walking through my garage." She gestured towards Fox. "Like Fox said, it scares people. I think she does it to throw people off their game while they're dealing with her."
Fox spoke up again. "Which begs the question what shes doing here right now. As far as I know there's a ban on her and the entire Ruffian gang. It can't be easy for her to get onto Corneria, so she must have something important to do here."
Falco continued. "Add in the fact that she was meeting with the Iron Wolfs, and suddenly these little acts take on a whole new level of serious."
Katt glanced at Falco. "Hold up, we still don't know if they're involved in these outbreaks of crime."
Falco snorted. "Why else would O'Donnell's red eyed terror be here talking with them then?"
Fox jumped in as Katt opened her mouth to respond. "Could you tell what was going on?"
Falco frowned before he answered. "Not really, I couldn't see too much because of the fading light, the group she was with unloaded a bunch of crates and gave them to the Iron Wolfs." He paused. "She got pissed at something though, she knocked one of the gang members on his ass because of something he said to her. While he was on the ground she stood over him pointing and it looked like she was yelling."
Fox rubbed his chin as he thought for a moment. "We need to know where that supply ship came from. If it didn't come from orbit then that means she has a base here somewhere that we need to try and get into. Find out if she really is involved in all this, or is shes here on some other business."
Falco grinned. "When the ship took off, we called back to the city, to see if there was anybody near by the spaceport. One of the Hot Rodders saw the ship come in to land. They didn't see which bay it landed in, but we know shes in the City somewhere."
Fox grinned as well. "Great, I can give Peppy a call and he can get the docking information for us." He turned to look at Katt. "Did you get any information on the Iron Wolfs from the Hot Rodders leader?"
Katt frowned. "Hold on for a moment, I just realized this, we're all pronouncing the gang name wrong, it should be Iron Wolves not Iron Wolfs."
Krystal chuckled. "According to the police report, they spell it that way on purpose, they don't know if its an act of defiance, or if they just aren't the brightest bulbs around."
Katt made a noise in the back of her throat. "Okay..." She turned back to Fox. "I did find out something from the Hot-Rodders, turns out that the Iron Wolfs have taken over one of the old buildings in the warehouse district. She thinks that they're up to something out there, been a lot of active recently with them moving things at night."
Fox frowned as he thought. "It's likely that Sarah is in the Warehouse district." He glanced over at Katt. "Did you manage to find out which warehouse they were in?" When Katt shook her head Fox sighed. "That would have been hoping for too much." Fox opened his mouth to say something, but he stopped when he saw Falco give a huge yawn. He glanced down at his gauntlet and frowned when he realized what time it was. "Alright, it's late, chasing theories around this time of night is not going to help matters at all. Everybody get some shut eye, we'll head out for Corneria in the morning to check out the warehouse district, and I'll call General Pepper and see if we can't get some information on where O'Donnell parked her ship."
Krystal and Katt nodded, both heading towards the hallway where the rooms were. Fox turned to follow them, but stopped when Falco put a hand on his shoulder. He glanced at the avian who was watching Katt and Krystal, he waited until he heard their doors slid shut before he gestured to Fox to head back down the stairs.
Fox frowned but nodded and followed Falco down the stairs and back through the doors to stand outside underneath a light. "What's up Falco?"
Falco sighed and turned to face Fox. "You know I'm the last person to bring something like this up, but do we need to talk about where I found you tonight?"
Fox blinked before he turned his gaze away from Falco and his accusing glare. "No."
Falco narrowed his eyes. "Bullshit. If you're going to try and blow me off, do a better job of it. I still have nightmares of running up those stairs and seeing you with the gun in your mouth. I don't want anything like that happening again."
Fox sighed. "Falco, I know you found me in a bar but-"
Falco cut him off. "You promised me you wouldn't touch the stuff anymore, and yet when I finally track you down, its in a bar, water may have been the only thing in your glass, but how long would that have lasted?"
Fox frowned and met Falco's gaze. "They do serve other things in bars aside from alcohol Falco." Falco raised an eyebrow and Fox sighed. "I understand why you're worried Falco, but I promise you, I wasn't there to drink, I was just there to think."
Falco frowned. "Think?"
Fox glanced up at the second story of the building they were standing next to. "You remember when we were heading back to the Great Fox from Cerinia? How I told you that I could see all of Krystal's memories as Kursed?"
Falco nodded. "Yeah, you knew the code to get in her ship, big deal."
Fox sighed. "They haven't faded Falco, those memories are still in my head, flashing through my mind when I least expect it. I can be walking down the hallway and between one step and the next, I'm somewhere else, as her, usually right as shes killing someone, I can't do anything but watch, no, live, her memory, and then its over and I finish taking my step. Everything feels real, yet its only taking a microsecond to flash through my head." Fox glanced down at the ground. "The worse parts are at night, I'll see her memories in my dreams, and I c an't escape them.
Falco stared at Fox, trying to judge if he was serious, after a moment he frowned. "Fox, this sounds crazy...and bad, if this is happening a lot, we need to get Krystal or somebody to look into fixing this. You can't be running around on missions while this is going on." he blinked and snapped his fingers. "Is this why you've been acting so odd around Krystal since she came back?"
Fox glanced over at Falco. "What do you mean?"
Falco snorted softly. "I get the full break down from Katt every night, who I assume is getting it from Krystal. Even if shes not, either way, I know that you can't seem to make up your mind about her, some days you'll be glad to have her around, then suddenly you pull away from her." When Fox didn't say anything Falco continued. "Take this morning for instance, I saw the worry on your face when you looked at her as we were walking across the base, yet, when we got back, you had trouble meeting her gaze for more then a moment."
Fox stayed quiet for another moment before he looked up at Falco. "Look, Falco, I appreciate the concern, I really do, but this is something I need to fig-"
"So, Where are we?"
Igan turned around to face Kursed as he answered her question. "Aldane, its a system that is very far away from where I found you."
Kursed nodded, tucking her hands into the pockets on her new cargo pants. "Good, I only stopped there for a job and ended up getting stranded for a while. Last thing I want to is to be anywhere near there. Thanks for the work."
The doberman chuckled darkly. "Don't thank me yet, you still need to be cleared by my boss first." He glanced back over at her again. "I don't think he's ever seen a blue Vixen before."
Kursed said nothing, just following Igan with her hands in her pockets and her eyes roaming over every surface. They weren't alone on the ship, they passed lot of different species, each one wearing a uniform similar to Igan's, although more basic. She spoke up as they came to a stop next to an elevator. "If I didn't know any better, I would say this is a military ship. Even though you strike me as the last person to join the military."
Igan glanced at her "I suppose you could say that, in Aldane, there is only one power, and everybody works for him in some way."
Kursed scoffed. "Don't tell me that the only other option is death. That would be way to cliché."
Igan was silent, although Kursed could tell he was amused at her comment. The elevator doors slid open and they both stepped in. As the elevator started to descend, Igan spoke up. "Make sure you address him as 'sir' if you want to make it through to actually get a mission."
Kursed raised an eyebrow before she nodded. A few moments later, the elevator doors opened and Kursed waited for Igan to step out. She glanced at him to see him gesture for her to go ahead. Ignoring the pit of dread in her stomach, Kursed stepped out, her face neutral. She found herself in yet another hallway like the one they had just left.
When she turned to ask Igan what was going on, the elevator doors had already closed. Kursed raised an eyebrow before she scoffed. Just as she was about to reach for the button, she heard a scream come from further down the hallway. Kursed crouched slightly as she turned to face the noise, she moved to the wall and continued down the hallway, pausing when it split into two different directions waiting.
She turned her gaze to the left when she heard another scream. Wishing she had been allowed to keep her blaster for whatever sick joke Igan was trying, Kursed moved down the hallway. It wasn't long before it ended and she found herself face to face with a heavy steel door. She reached out with her mind and found two presences, one person was calm and peaceful, albeit happy about something, and the other one was filled with stark terror that seeped into her very being and had her taking a step back.
As she did so, the scream echoed through the door again, and Kursed took another step back, closing off her mind and trying to ignore the sounds, she leaned up against the wall and closed her eyes, flinching slightly every time the person on the other side screamed.
Five minutes passed before the doors opened and a large lupine strode out he glanced at her before he gestured for her to follow him. She nodded and followed him back down the hallway and down the other branch. She was slightly surprised when they entered a large office.
The office was lavish considering that they were on a large cruiser floating in orbit around some planet she didn't know.
The room was well lit, with a dark red carpet that covered the floor, and a small steel desk sat tucked against the left wall, a tablet sitting on top of it. A bank of monitors displaying news feeds from planets she assumed were near by covered the wall to her right. Dominating the room though, was the large wooden desk that took up most of the room, different things sat on the desk, a few weapons, a couple monitors, and behind it, was a large office chair, designed to hold the lupine. Kursed took a moment to study him now that he had sat down. His fur was a brilliant white, contrasting sharply with the black uniform he wore that seemed to barely contain the muscled form underneath. Three red x covered both of his shoulders and as he stood up from behind his desk, his coal black eyes locked onto hers. "So, you are the one that Igan found. Kursed."
Kursed nodded, assuming this was who she was supposed to meet. "Yes sir."
The lupine moved around the desk, moving over to the monitors and crossing his arms behind his back as he stared at them. Kursed noticed a small tube of some sort hanging from a clip on his belt."You seem surprised by something Kursed."
Kursed was quiet for a moment. "Your size sir, I've never seen a lupine as big as you before."
He didn't look at her as he answered. "I'm a wolfhound, we have a tendency to get quite big, although, I admit, that I am bigger the most as well." He turned around then. "So, Igan has informed me that you are looking for a job?"
Kursed nodded again.
The Wolfhound was silent for a moment as he watched her. "Very well, there is something...interesting about you Kursed. I can't place my finger on it, but I would like to see what happens in the next few years."
Kursed blinked. "Years, sir?"
The Wolfhound smiled, although there was no warmth in it. "Yes, I wondered if Igan would tell you, if you want to work for me, it will be for a period of at least two years."
Kursed was silent for a moment, two years seemed a bit long, but she could always run away if she needed to. She nodded. "I accept sir."
"Good, Igan will see to it that you are informed of the way things work around here." He paused, "Although I expect you to call me sir, as you have been doing, no doubt after Igan told you so. After he gets you caught up on how things work in Aldane, he'll get you set up with missions. You'll be given quarters here on the ship for the first month, but after you've saved up some money, you'll be free to move somewhere else. Just know that you must be near by at all times in case a job comes up that needs you."
Kursed nodded. "Sounds like a cushy job, what's the catch?"
The Wolfhound smiled again. "You are not allowed to say no to any job given to you by myself or Igan, although you can take other jobs as long as they don't interfere in my business."
Kursed folded her arms across her chest. "Seems fair enough, so what now?"
The Wolfhound gestured to the hallway behind her. "Igan will be waiting to show you where your quarters are."
Kursed turned to leave but hadn't made it very far before the Wolfhound spoke up again. "You aren't curious? Or are you trying to play it off like it didn't effect you? I've seen it played either way before."
Kursed glanced over her shoulder. "What do you mean, sir?"
The Wolfhound locked eyes with her. "The screams of course."
Kursed shrugged. "It didn't seem like my business, but I'll bite, what did he do to you?"
The Wolfhound glanced back at the monitors for a moment. "He said no." he turned back to face her. "Then he failed the job he was given."
Kursed stared at the Wolfhound for another few moments, her glare unflinching. "I'll keep that in mind." with that she turned around and was almost to the hallway when he spoke up once more. She turned to face him and found that he had crossed the room without her hearing him approach, she managed somehow not to flinch.
He bent down slightly. "One last thing Kursed, I refuse to go into any business deal without everybody knowing who they are dealing with. So, Kursed, my name is-"
"-ure out...myself..." Fox trailed off as the memory was gone as quickly as it had come. It was one he had seen before, and that surprised him, since it was the first one that he repeated itself.
Falco raised an eyebrow before he spoke up. "It just happened again, didn't it?" Fox nodded and Falco sighed. "So what are we going to do about it?"
Fox glanced at the building next to them before his gazed roamed to the upper floors. "I'll talk to Krystal, just not right now. With everything that's going on I don't want to lose focus on our mission."
Falco waved a hand through the air. "Whatever man, you're not fooling me for one second." He poked Fox in the chest. "You're scared. You don't want to talk about what happened because you don't know if you can accept everything she did." he paused. "Hell, I don't know if I can even accept it, I'm still having trouble with her just being back." He jabbed Fox in the chest again. "But that doesn't mean you can just ignore this."
Fox swatted Falcos hand away. "Maybe I am scared, and maybe I don't want to talk about it. But can you blame me? How would you feel if Katt did something like that?"
Falco scoffed with a grin. "I would have been pissed that she didn't take me with her." He waved a hand through the air. "But that's me, I've always been a bit more loose with laws then you."
Fox sighed and turned back towards the door. "You've got that right." He took a few steps away before Falco lost his grin.
"Seriously though man, talk to Krystal, and do it soon."
Fox stopped at the door and waited for a moment before he glanced back at his friend. "I will, now come on, let's get some sleep."
Upstairs in her room, Krystal was staring into the mirror and rubbing her finger across her chest, right where she could have sworn she had been poked just a few moments ago.
Two weeks later found the four of them moving through the streets of the warehouse district, wearing normal street clothes, with their weapons hidden underneath. Fox had called General Pepper the second day, but all he had been able to confirm was what they already knew. The ship had docked at the main port, but any information about registration was constantly coming up as false, and nobody saw where Sarah had went when she left the space station. When nothing solid came up, and lacking any better options they had spent the next few days discretely scouting out the warehouse district, looking for the warehouse that the Iron Wolfs were running their operation out of.
Now that they had narrowed it down, the four of them had decided to move in and see if they could find any information on Sarah and what the Iron Wolfs might be up to.
The warehouse that the gang was working out of was one of the larger ones, four stories high with two floors of storage and an office on the ground floor. Fox hoped that they would find information in the office, which was why he was leaning up against another warehouse, cloaked in the shadows of an alleyway. His normal attire had been swapped out for some ripped jeans and a black shirt, a baseball cap pulled low over his face with sun glasses completed his disguise. Now he was watching as two of the Iron Wolfs gang stood at the entrance to the alleyway, harassing anybody who got close.
Fox raised his arm, talking quietly into the gauntlet that was hidden underneath the sleeve. "Two guards on this end. How about yours?"
Through the alleyway, he watched as Krystal, who was dressed in long jeans and a gray t-shirt and leaning up against the wall of her own warehouse, raised her own arm. "It's clear on this side, looks like those two are it. From what I can pick up, they're supposed to be one on either side but they got bored." She paused and leaned away from her wall to glance down the alleyway where the entrance was. "That said, There's no way for us to get down to that office door from this end without them noticing."
Fox nodded. "Lets see how diligent they are. Falco, Katt, your up."
Falco and Katt rounded the corner closest to Fox, Falco dressed in a normal pair of black jeans and a t-shirt with his sunglasses tucked over his beak. Katt was wearing a blouse and long pants with a jacket completing the cover. The two of them were holding hands and walking slowly, glancing at each other and pretending to not pay a lot of attention to what was around them. When they reached the entrance to the alleyway, they stopped and Falco looked around.
"I think it's this way." He said sounding confused while he pointed towards the alleyway where the guards were. The two lupines looked surprised at Falco's words
Katt hummed low in her throat. "Are you sure?" She eyed the lupines. "I don't think they'll let us through." At her words, the lupines frowned and one of them cupped his fist in one palm.
Falco scoffed. "We just have to ask nicely. Come on dear."
Katt stiffened for a moment before she followed Falco as he moved towards the guard. "If you're sure..." She trailed off uncertainly.
They got a few steps away from the guards when the one on the left held up his hand. "No way buddy, this alleyway is closed off to anybody who isn't part of the gang."
Falco glanced past the guard at the exit. "But we just need to go through the alley, why is that such a problem." He took a step closer to try and move past the guards. "We'll be through before you even kn-"
Falco cut off as the guard on the right drove his fist into Falcos gut. Falco backed away, coughing as the air was knocked out of him. His large sunglasses sliding down his face a bit. The guard on the right spoke up. "No means no buddy."
The guard on the left glanced at Katt who took a step back, her eyes wide, before he turned his gaze back to Falco. "Do you get it, or do you need another lesson?"
Falco shook his head. "No...no...I get, I get it." he coughed once more.
The left guard nodded before he frowned. "Wait a minute, I've seen your face before somewhere. What's your name?" Falco wheezed again instead of responding, the right guard growled and reached for Katt, pulling her to him.
He leaned his head down next to her. "Since your boy can't answer, how about you, what's his name?"
Fox was watching the exchange, a frown on his face when Krystals voice came through his ear piece. "Busted. Call it."
Fox sighed before he nodded and spoke into his gauntlet. "They made us, take em down."
Katt who still had a wide eyed look, blinked and frowned before she spoke up, her microphone picking up her voice. "Do you know how hard it is to fight in a blouse like this?" The guard who was holding her frowned as she sighed. "Good thing I came prepared."
The guard tightened his grip "What are you talking abou-" That was far as he got as Katt reached underneath her jacket and pulled out a small rod, sliding her thumb across the base and causing a small spark to form at the tip. Before he could react, she reached up and twisted his hand, breaking free of his grip and driving the rod into the side of his neck before he could make any noise. The shock from the rod zapped his nervous system and he fell backwards as his muscles gave out. "That was for punching my future husband."
The left guard stepped away from Falco with a soft curse. "What the-"
Falco suddenly straightened up, no longer acting winded anymore as he drove his fist into the jaw of the lupine in front of him. As the wolf stumbled backwards from the sudden blow, Falco raised a foot and kicked him in the chest, knocking him back into the alleyway as Fox jogged across the street to help Katt drag the zapped guard further into the alley.
The guard who had been knocked down by Falco pushed himself up and inhaled to call out, only to stop when Falco leaned down and jammed a blaster under his chin. "Not a smart move buddy. You ruined my perfect plan, so I'm not in a good mood with you." The guard exhaled and Falco grinned. "Good boy." He stepped away, keeping his blaster trained on the guard as Krystal walked up from the other end of the alleyway.
"Well, that worked great." She crossed her arms and glanced at Falco "Whose idea was that again?"
Falco sneered. "Shut up."
Fox and Katt finished pulling some loose debris over the knocked out guard then walked over to join them, Katt twirling her taser rod around her fingers. She leveled it at Falcos face for a moment. "By the way, if you ever call me dear like that when we're married, you'll wake up missing something really important to you."
Falco nodded. "Understood."
Fox meanwhile crouched in front of the guard, making sure that Falco still had a clear shot. "How many are inside?"
The guard responded quickly. "Twelve, and every one of them is armed."
Fox glanced up at Krystal who shook her head. He sighed as he moved away. "I didn't think you would help us out, but I had hoped." He nodded at Falco who shrugged and pulled the trigger, the blaster hummed slightly and an orange stun bolt blasted the lupine into unconsciousness. Falco kept his blaster out as the four of them moved towards the entrance to the office. Falco aimed his weapon at the door as Fox moved to the side, drawing his own weapon as did Krystal while Katt swapped out her taser for her own small blaster.
Fox nodded at Falco, then opened the door. Falco rushed in, checking the room as Fox moved in behind him, Krystal and Katt following.
Although they knew that the warehouse was empty, thanks to Krystal, there was no way of knowing if there wasn't a security bot or something watching the entrance. It only took them a few moments to clear the small office, which was divided up into two rooms. They stopped next to the warehouse computer, Fox syncing his gauntlet to the system to try and hack into the files. He sighed as a progress bar popped up. "Slippy would be so much faster at this." He glanced up at Krystal and Katt. "Go see if you can find out what's in those cases."
The two girls nodded and moved out into the warehouse proper, Fox took off his gauntlet and left it sitting at the computer as he looked around the room. "This place is pretty barren, they must not have had a lot of use for it." he glanced over at the computer. "I just hope this thing has a list of what they've been keeping here."
Katt chose that moment to step back into the office, "You two are going to want to see this."
Falco glanced at Fox before they followed the feline back out into the warehouse. They followed her to where Krystal was standing next to an open crate. Falco whistled as he laid eyes on the crate and Fox frowned.
Falco was the first to speak up. "That's a lot of fire power." The crate was filled with heavy blaster rifles, and what looked like a deconstructed assault cannon. Falco glanced around at the warehouse. "What the hell do they need all this firepower for? There is enough here for a fucking army."
The entire first floor of the warehouse was stacked full of the crates. Fox was quiet for a moment as he ran his eyes over the stacks before he spoke up. "I don't know, but it's not good. We need to let Peppy know about this."
Krystal frowned before she moved away from them, heading back to the office. Fox paid her no mind until he heard her call out.
"Hey! Get back here!"
Fox glanced at Falco before they ran for the office, Katt sliding the lid back over the case before following after them. When Falco and Fox ran out into the alleyway, the looked down where the guard that Falco had been shot was laying.
When they saw nothing, the looked up at the alleyway, where Krystal was standing over the guard, his body not moving as drops of red blood fell off the knife that Krystal was holding loosely in her hand.
Fox blinked. "Krystal...what did you do?"
Krystal looked back at them. "I stopped him."
Fox opened his mouth and closed it before he tried again. "What about your blaster, you could have just stunned him again."
Krystal nudged the body with her foot. "He's wearing armor underneath that clothing, which is why he woke up so quickly. I removed him from play."
Fox clenched his fists as Katt walked out with his gauntlet held in her hands, she glanced once at Fox then over at Krystal who took a moment to wipe the blood off her blade before she tucked the knife back into her pants.
"Krystal." She looked up as Fox's hard voice reached her. "We don't do things like that, you should know better."
Krystal raised an eyebrow. "How is this different from all the people we killed while flying our ships?"
Fox shook his head. "That was different, we were defending people, he was just running."
Krystal scoffed "Running for help, he was about to shout when I reached him."
Fox rubbed his head. "What about when they relief shows up? What then?"
Krystal reached for her own blaster, quickly thumbing up the power, she aimed at the body and shot it twice before she shot at the walls a couple of times, Fox and the others ducked as she aimed past them and shot at the guard who was covered up, she also shot the walls a couple times. As she put her blaster away Fox stormed towards her. "What are you thinking!?"
Krystal just met his gaze. "You think when they found them knocked out, they wouldn't know something?" she gestured around the alleyway. "This way, it looked like another gang just took a passing shot at the guards, we leave now and nobody will suspect anything else. By the time it reaches anybody high up, it'll be too late."
Fox clenched his fists again. "That's not the point Krystal!"
Krystal frowned "Then what the hell is the point? What do you want me to say? I'm sorry for keeping our cover intact?"
Fox inhaled to reply when Katt spoke up. "Guys, She just made a lot of noise, we should get out of here while we can. Somebody will come to investigate."
Fox glanced at Katt before he nodded. "Your right Katt, lets get out of here, back to the base." He locked eyes with Krystal again. "We're not done talking about this."
Krystal just nodded before she turned and left the alleyway, Fox watching her go before the rest of them followed.
Okay, You all know the drill! Sound off! Let me know if my skills have faded or if I managed to pull it together! I think it might have faded a bit at the end there, not sure though.
Oh, and Guest Reviews!
Thatoneguy: I'm glad you enjoyed, hopefully the long wait has been worth it.
Qui: Hearing that my writing has improved is always nice, even more so from you, since you have been great at pointing out mistakes in the past. I now know that colons and what not are what I need to work on next.
As for the Major Plot line this will be the last chapter of buildup for this act, the new few chapters is where things get...interesting...seems like a good way to put it. Hopefully I can keep surprising you. On the extra bit of writing, that's a preview from one of the next stories I'll start, once I finish either Dead Planet of ReArmed. You've got the empire part right, but you missed out on Rae being Krystal/Kursed.
Oh, and I swear, I'm reading The Cerinian Earth, but I have it downloaded to my phone and keep having to back track since I can only read for small periods of time with long breaks in between them, so I have to go back to check things from time to time. I will get a review to you for it some day here, hopefully soonish.
Anyway, as usual, you guys are all awesome, Dead Plant has over 16,000 hits! With almost 200 Reviews as well! If you swap the Star Fox Filters to reviews only, Dead Planet is on the front page! I look at that stat page and it just fills me with warm fuzzies. Thank you all so much for sticking with me while I work on this.
On a random note, I got a new computer a couple months back and get a second monitor set up with it, and I love being able to bounce my screens now. It's so nice to just glance over to take notes on guest reviews instead of tabbing to a new window. Also, I'm so excited for the New Star Fox game, Nintendo says that they plan on having it in 2015!
Till the next update!
Peace,
- Emile
