Hey guys, sorry this took so long! So, for the purpose of this story, I've changed the time line just a touch to make it so that Broly and Paragus were banished before Frieza destroyed the planet. You'll find out why soon!
Anyways, the reason this took so dang long is because a) I'm student teaching and b) I can't write battle scenes worth crap! So it takes FOREVER!
Broly looked down at Gohan in mad wonder, having never seen another Super Saiyan before. Gohan glared back up at him with piercing blue eyes, his small body nearly shaking with the power surging through him. Piccolo felt absolutely nauseous, and dry heaved a little, perspiration on his forehead.
"Hey, Piccolo, you alright?" Krillin asked, concerned.
"Do I look alright to you?" Piccolo snapped, dry heaving once more.
"Dude, you gonna be sick? Because I gotta tell you, I'm a sympathy puker..."
"Shut...Up..." Piccolo muttered.
"A Super Saiyan so young," Paragus said quietly. "Interesting."
Vegeta mumbled something incoherent and crossed his arms over his chest.
"What was that, oh prince of mine?" Paragus teased.
"I said I'd rip your throat out if you don't shut up," Vegeta snapped.
"Jealous?"
And with that, Vegeta turned around and punched Paragus in the throat, sending him staggering back several steps. Paragus coughed, some blood coming up, spattering on the ground. Vegeta's fist made home in his gut next, and as he bent over in pain, his knee made contact with the other Saiyan's chin. Paragus stumbled about for a bit, trying to regain his footing and composure.
"You know, you really are pathetic. Your mother was pathetic, being killed by Frieza's men when she was pregnant with your sister. Oh, you didn't know that?" he asked, playing shocked as Vegeta's eyes widened. "Your mother was pregnant. She was keeping it on the down-low, hadn't even told your father yet."
"You're lying," Vegeta growled. "There's no way you could know that."
"Oh, I heard her speaking to her servants. And then, when your father banished me, I let it slip to one of Frieza's trusted henchmen. From what I gathered, she was killed not too long after that. While you sat, helpless, in your cozy home with Frieza himself."
"Shut up."
"Oh, and then your father died. I heard from my worldly travels in one punch. Just one. Pathetic. Absolutely pathetic."
Vegeta's ki began to rise and the four on the battlefield flipped their heads to look over at two. Even Broly and Gohan stopped their stalking of one another. Piccolo, with his sharp eyes, noticed Vegeta's eyes were flashing blue. He dry-heaved again.
"And then there's you. Filling out his orders, like one of his own minions. And then, when you finally decided to rebel, you couldn't even kill him. Oh no, you had to team up with a child. And even then, Broly killed Frieza for you. He took your honorable right away. And now, NOW, that child has surpassed you, becoming the second Super Saiyan to exist. Weren't you told by your father you'd be the first, hm? And look at you now. The bottom rung of Saiyans, not even transformed. Pathetic."
"I told you to shut your fucking mouth!" Vegeta snarled, his ki exploding around him, shimmering gold.
"Uh-oh. This could be very bad," Krillin said.
"A child, Vegeta. A child has surpassed you. You are not worthy of your princely title," Paragus continued to goad.
At this moment, Broly had seen enough and grown bored, turning his attention to Gohan once again. Gohan narrowly avoided a blast and sent one of his own back at the behemoth. They both took to the air, matching each other blow for blow. Gohan suddenly went plummeting back to the ground, barely catching himself.
"Piccolo, I know Gohan's ascended and all that but... Broly's been a Super Saiyan for apparently a long time... Gohan just transformed. What if he just doesn't have the ability to harness all the potential to win this?" Krillin asked, wringing his hands.
Piccolo merely dry-heaved in response. "V-Vegeta's getting stronger. He is nearing ascension himself," he stuttered out.
Gohan went flying past them again, again just barely catching himself, his toes skidding on the ground.
"So what do we do?"
"Go over there and get Paragus to continue to goad Vegeta until he transforms."
"Oh yeah, that sounds safe! Send little ol' me over to get two Saiyans to fight. How do I always draw the short end of the stick? And don't say it's because I'm short!"
"Would you stop your whining and just do it?" Piccolo snapped.
"Fine, fine. Have it your way. What do I do?"
"Just wing it. You know how to annoy people."
"Wow. I'm going to take that as a compliment for now..."
"JUST GO!" Piccolo snarled.
Krillin jumped at his tone and took off for Vegeta and Paragus. He composed himself before he landed. "Hey Vegeta, Gohan could use some help, ya know," he said simply.
"Go away, cue ball," Vegeta ground out.
"Oh yes, Vegeta. The child could use your help." Vegeta said nothing, though Krillin noticed his eyes held the steady blue and his ki raised drastically. Paragus however, not wearing his scouter, did not notice this. "Ha, you couldn't help, even if you tried. You're weak, Vegeta. A disgrace to the Saiyan race. Weak like your mother, weak like your father. You may as well call yourself human."
And with that, Vegeta whirled around and sank his fist deeply into Paragus' gut, making Krillin back up several steps. His ki exploded around him in gold, and his hair took on the blonde sheen, his blue eyes staring daggers into Paragus'. He brought his leg up and knocked Paragus' feet out from under him before he held his hand flat, ki flickering in his palm.
Paragus looked up, stunned.
Piccolo heaved again, feeling something growing in his throat.
Gohan and Broly stopped fighting in shock, turning their attention straight to Vegeta.
Vegeta began to laugh coldly.
"V-Vegeta... have you been hiding it all this time?" Paragus questioned.
"No, but apparently you were just what I needed to draw my greatness out," Vegeta droned, the ki in his hand growing brighter and larger.
"Vegeta..."
"It's Prince," Vegeta said simply, unleashing his blast in Paragus' face.
Up above, Broly snapped out of his Super Saiyan trance, devolving back to his base form.
Gohan stopped as well, but stayed in his ascended form, though he looked quite shocked. "Oh no, Vegeta..."
Broly let out an animalistic howl and transformed again, rushing Vegeta head-on. Vegeta, not one to turn from a fight, met him halfway, the two clashing with a thunderous bang. Vegeta went flying backwards shortly after, barely catching himself. Krillin yelped as the Saiyan prince whisked past him, nearly colliding as he attempted to barrel into Broly. The Legendary merely caught him y the neck and flung him away, into Gohan. The boy caught him and righted them both. Vegeta growled at him and shoved him away, trying to jump into the fight again. Gohan skimmed at his feet, intent on helping, but Vegeta kicked him away, ever prideful, only to be sent flying past him with a bloody nose. Gohan surged forward, before meeting the same demise.
On the ground, Piccolo continued to heave, his throat feeling like it was closing. Krillin rushed over to him, patting him on the back. Piccolo tried to shake him off, but couldn't form the words and could barely move. His head was positively swimming, his eyes were watering, and he could barely breathe. And then, something started to come up. Krillin began pounding on his as he gagged and choked until suddenly the was a whoosh and everything felt right.
"Oh. My. God!" Krillin exclaimed.
Piccolo looked at the monstrous egg before him, completely bewildered. He felt instantly better, breathing deeply. He jerked his attention away and to the Saiyans above them, noting with disdain that Vegeta and Gohan were failing miserably.
"Krillin, watch this. I don't know what it is, but it may be important. Do not let it be destroyed," Piccolo ordered, standing.
"Wait, what are you going to do?" Krillin asked.
"I'm going to help," he answered, yanking his training weights off and flying into the fray. He saw Gohan's eyes cut to him sharply and saw his mouth open to protest, only to be punched in the face and be sent flying into Vegeta. Piccolo flew up just underneath Broly, grabbing his ankles and yanking down hard, throwing the Saiyan off guard enough for Vegeta to land a punch in his face.
It did little to deter the giant, however.
He threw a massive blast at the Prince, sending him dodging away. Gohan moved in to take his place, only to be sent careening into Piccolo, who caught him, but sent them both back several hundred feet before Piccolo stopped them.
"You guys, this isn't working!" Krillin shouted from the ground as Vegeta slammed into the dirt beside him.
Broly was laughing maniacally, throwing blasts erratically here and there, more often than not meeting their targets. When Gohan hit the earth hard, falling into his base form, Piccolo let out a bellow, sending a multitude of blasts at his opponent.
Suddenly, Gohan was back up as a Super Saiyan, throwing Piccolo out of the way of a strong blast that would have surely maimed him. Vegeta stormed past them both, only to be knocked aside again. And this time, it took him a while to get back to his feet, his leg possibly fractured.
Piccolo nearly crashed into him moments later.
Gohan was thrown into a mountain.
"This...this is useless," Vegeta gasped. "He is the Legendary Super Saiyan. We were stupid to take him on. He will kill us all!"
Piccolo snapped his head to look at him. "What has gotten into you? You're giving up?" he snarled.
"Don't you understand? It is no use! You claim to be smart, yet you know nothing! He is the Saiyan on legend, one we were told to fear! The strongest being in the world! He killed Frieza like a pesky fly under his thumb! What are we to him?"
"Not a bunch of cowards!"
"Oh yeah? And who is going to save us? Your boy? Well I have news for you, Namekian. That boy, your boy, is about to die! Look for yourself," Vegeta sneered, pointing towards the mountain.
Piccolo whirled around to see Gohan trying desperately to hold back a large last aimed at him, and failing. Little by little, the blast pushed him further into the mountain. Piccolo could hear his strained grunts. And then, a tiny, moaned, "help."
Piccolo took off without a thought, and as he tried to ram into Broly, the Saiyan knocked him away effortlessly while still driving the blast into Gohan. Piccolo tried a myriad of attacks, only to be brushed away.
And so, at a loss, he threw himself into the blast, making himself the new target.
"Mr. Piccolo! NO!" Gohan screamed. "NO!"
Piccolo began to fall to the ground before the boy caught him, setting him down gently. Piccolo grimaced up at him. Gohan stared back at him, his aura exploding about him in a new wave of gold, his eyes burning blue.
"Krillin, take care of him," Gohan ordered before taking to the sky again.
"Piccolo! Piccolo, are you gonna be okay?" Krillin asked, hovering over him.
"Gohan. Where's Gohan?" he ground out in reply.
"He's fighting Broly, but it's not going well. Piccolo... we aren't going to win this."
Suddenly, up above, two blasts exploded, one incredibly large one and one substantially smaller, being held back by just a young boy.
"We have to help!" Piccolo growled.
"Oh yeah, and what do you plan on doing, Namek? You and I are beaten down, you can barely move. If you can pull some fantastical plan out of your ass, now would be a great time," Vegeta said sarcastically.
"We have to give Gohan all our energy. Send Gohan your energy!" Piccolo commanded. He channeled his ki towards Gohan, and instantly, the blast Gohan was producing grew larger. Krillin followed his lead, and again, the blast grew. Gohan sent more energy in, his grunts growing louder as he struggled.
"Come on, Vegeta! Give Gohan your ki!" Krillin exclaimed.
Vegeta merely growled in reply, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Vegeta! Are you that proud that you cannot give your ki to the only person who can save us? Are you that conceited that you'd rather die than be saved by a child? Paragus was right. You are pathetic!" Piccolo snarled.
With a snarl of his own, Vegeta gathered his ki in his hand and aimed it at Piccolo.
"Vegeta!" Krillin exclaimed.
Vegeta let out an animalistic growl before sending the ki to Gohan, and finally Gohan's blast became as large as Broly's.
And then, devastation.
Broly's blast grew larger.
"Oh that was great, Namekian. Now we're all powerless and Broly is still winning."
"Krillin. There's one last shot at this," Piccolo said.
"What? What is it?"
Piccolo dropped his ki to zero.
"Tell Gohan I'm dead."
And with that, Piccolo sprawled and shut his eyes.
Krillin jumped into the sky, racing for Gohan, who was still trying in vain to hold back the blast.
"Gohan! Gohan!" Krillin exclaimed.
"Krillin, I'm a little busy at the moment!" Gohan ground out.
"Gohan, Piccolo's dead."
Gohan's eyes immediately cut to the ground and landed on Piccolo's form. Then, he let out an animalistic howl and his ki grew so large, it blew Krillin away. His blast became large again. He screamed, "I'll kill you, Broly! I'll kill you!"
The blast grew larger and larger, gradually dwarfing Broly's own. The Legendary's cackling turned to noises of confusion and anger as he began to lose ground.
"I'll kill you!" Gohan screamed.
"No! NO!" Broly screeched as the blast began to scorch his flesh. "NO!"
And with that, Broly was no more.
Gohan had tears running down his face as he cut off the blast and turned to Krillin.
"Gohan! You did it!" Krillin exclaimed.
But Gohan was already down on the ground, running for Piccolo. He skidded to a halt when Piccolo sat up.
"You jerk!" Gohan cried, launching himself at his mentor and hugging him hard around the middle. "You jerk, you jerk, you jerk!"
"Well it worked, didn't it?" Piccolo said, pushing him away.
Gohan wiped his tears away. "Yeah, I guess," he laughed.
"Hey, cue ball, you have any of those bean-things?" Vegeta asked, taking a limping step forward.
"Not yet. I'll go get some from Korin."
"Lead the way," Vegeta said, taking to the air.
"Oh, you're coming too? Okay. Sure. Follow me. I'll bring you two some back, okay?" Krillin said to Piccolo and Gohan.
"Okay, thanks," Gohan replied, nodding.
As Krillin and Vegeta flew off, Gohan leaned heavily against Piccolo, both sitting in silence. Piccolo's hand went to Gohan's head and ruffled his hair. "I'm proud of you, kid," he said lowly.
"Don't ever do that to me again," Gohan said. "I can't bear to lose you."
"I did what had to be done."
"Hm. Hey, what's that?" Gohan asked, his attention averted. He scrambled to his feet and over aways to where there was an outcropping where Krillin had been hiding. Piccolo pushed himself up and walked over. "Mr. Piccolo, what is this?"
"That, Gohan, is my egg."
Alright, so there it is. Hopefully it was somewhat satisfactory. We will find out what the egg will bring us in the next chapter!
