After they manage to form a begrudging friendship, they continue to test each other until an event pushes them both past their limit.

Nine years after landing on Earth and things are not going well for Zim. Trapped on this wretched planet and isolated from his people- the feisty Irken Invader had just about gone crazy trying to entertain himself. However things start to change when an old companion from Irk shows back up.

Zim has the worst day ever. Bad things keep on happening to him and his leaders make it even worse. Sad and depressed, he ventures out into the forest to clear his head. He finds a couple interesting items, and is soon made a king, but at the same time, the Tallest sent beasts down to Earth kill him! Will Zim be able to handle these new powers and defend Earth, or will he fail?
