With the destruction of Krypton Jor-El sends his newly born son Kal-El to earth. Unknowingly to him earth isn't quite what it seems. Earth is getting worse crime and corruption is affecting both the planet and its people. Crime is on the rise and to much for police to handle. In particular the discovery of kryptonite which has shaken him to his core even if only at a sub-conscious level. Kryptonite should not exist but it does.
