chapter three

David froze when he heard Rumplestilsken's words. "Of course!" he said smacking his forehead."How much do you want?"

"Oh not much" Rumplestilsken answered. "for now, I just want you to come here when the baby is born so I could come see it."

A sick feeling entered David's stomach. What could Rumplestilsken possibly want from a baby? He had been willing to pay any monatary amount but this? David decided to not to protest as he nodded and walked out the door. He couldn't risk Snow's life.

"Goodbye dearie!" Rumplestilsken giggled as David left. "See you again soon!"

Snow took the potion and managed to regain her strength. After a few months the sound of 3 people's crying could be heard in the cottage. Snow's from the pain she was in. A newborn baby Emma was also crying because that's what newborns do, and David was crying from seeing his beautiful daughter. The village midwife was the only one in the room not in a mess of tears. Shortly after she left, David climbed into bed and was leaning against Snow, looking at their child in her arms.

"Welcome to the world Emma!" Snow cooed and David wished he could savour this moment forever. David bit his lip and whispered hating to ruin this portrait worthy moment. "Snow? When do you think I should go?"

Snow looked at him, so much worry in her beautiful eyes. "Do you really think he will find out anyway if we don't tell him?"

David got up and started pacing around the room. "Yes Snow. I really do think so. I hate to say it but that man is dangerous. If he finds out you gave birth without us telling him, which he is very likely to do so, I'm scared to think of what the consequences might be"

Snow nodded reluctantly "then you must go immediately."

David left, feeling a sense of deja vu as he approached Rumplestilsken's house.

Rumplestilsken instantly knew why David was there and before David could say a word he raised up his hands and said "Let's go home and see your child, yes?"

To stunned to speak, David walked back outside and led Rumplestilsken to his house.

Rumplestilsken skipped inside and pointed to Emma.

"That child," he said "will be coming with me."
