Beginning AN: I apologize if the starting author's note in the last chapter rubbed some people the wrong way I had been awake for two days straight with little to no sleep by the time that chapter was made so now you know what I meant by the term running on empty and are encouraged to refer to this author's note for future reference if I create a chapter and mention that I'm running on empty energy wise and sooner or later I most likely will since I'm a night owl type of person. now on with the story

The AI Who Lived Chapter 9: Year 1 first day of class

It's the morning after the opening feast and both Sage and Hermione wake up along with their roommates and they all take a bath, get dressed and go down to the Great Hall for breakfast everything goes smoothly even with the uncouth display of Ronald Weasley eating as if he was raised in a barn in regards to table manners and after they're done eating they head off to their first class which is Potions with the Hufflepuffs and both Sage and Hermione make it on time and Professor Snape makes his way in the room with his robes acting as if an unseen wind is keeping them off the ground

when he turns to the class he says "there will be no wand waving in my class, I can teach you how to bottle fame and put a stopper to death." and he turns his attention to Sage and says "answer me this which potion is to be used to put injured patients to sleep?"

Sage answers "The Draught of The Living Death sir." he says "very good now tell me where do I find a Bezoar?" Sage answers "in the stomach of a Goat sir." he then says "very well done now final question what's the difference between monkswood and wolfsbane?"

Sage answers "nothing they are the same plant also known as Aconite." he says "very good 20 points to Ravenclaw for each answer." he then turns his attention to the rest of the class and says "why aren't you writing this down?" and they immediately do so the rest of the lesson goes smoothly until a cauldron explodes and Neville Longbottom is both the cause and victim as he has boils on his skin and he's sent to madam pomfrey to get healed.

and with no further problems the lesson soon ends and both Sage and Hermione go to their second lesson of the day which is Transfiguration and it's with the Gryffindors they arrive on time and seemingly the professor isn't anywhere in sight but a tabby cat is where the professor is supposed to be Sage figures the cat is the professor and she does this as a prank on any late arrivals and she tells Hermione this and they keep it to themselves.

and as soon as it's time to start the class Ronald Weasley arrives late and

Professor McGonnagal turns back to normal and says "if you can't remember to arrive on time maybe I should turn you into a pocket watch Mr. Weasley or if you can't find your way to class perhaps a map will do. but no matter join your classmates and pray there's no more late arrivals from you."
Ron does as told and the lesson begins and it's the standard turn an object into a needle lesson which goes smoothly with some getting it faster than others which includes Sage and Hermione.

the lesson ends and they are off to the great hall for lunch and when that's done they go to teir third class of the day which is History of Magic with the Slytherins and they arrive on time.

Dr. Eggman starts the lesson by saying "I've read up on what was being taught here and don't worry I'm not going to drone on and on about goblin wars I have more interesting things to teach you." a cocky Pureblood says "what could you possibly know about the history of magic muggle?" Dr. Eggman responds with " more than you can possibly imagine brat." he continues with "I can teach you about mystical artifacts that seem harmless at first but when gathered together can perform miracles of both bad and good depending on the user."

the same cocky Pureblood asks "yeah and what are those?" Sage answers for her Father with "there's seven mystical gems that are said to hold limitless power called the Chaos Emeralds and they are ancient artifacts that great great power to the user."

Dr. Eggman says "very good Sage 50 points for a correct answer to a dimwitted question." he then says "I can also teach you about ancient Civilizations one of which was known to be the safekeepers of The Chaos Emeralds at one point."

Sage says "you mean the Echidnas correct?" Dr. Eggman says "yes that is correct 30 points for a correct answer yet again Sage." he then says "but those lessons and more can wait until another time this was an introduction and Q & A lesson."

the lesson ends and both house groups leave looking forward to the next lessons with Dr. Eggman.

the final lesson of the day for Sage and Hermione is Astronomy and it's the only class that has all four houses attending at the same time the lesson begins and they learn about the various celestial bodies and how certain days hold more power than others the lesson soon ends and both Sage and Hermione have dinner and return to Ravenclaw's dorm where Athena has been minding her own buisiness the whole day and is excited to see them return.
Sage gives Athena an apple that she kept from dinner and Athena munches down on it with excitement and gives a contented sigh when she's done they go back to their bedroom take a bath, dress up in their sleepwear and go to bed with Athena snuggling up with Sage.

ending AN: there you have it the first day of class is done and it's apparent that Dr. Eggman will have to deal with snarky brats who are all bark and no bite all year long and as to who the cocky Pureblood is I suggest picturing it to be Draco Malfoy.

Next time: same classes are done and the first flying lesson of the year.
