On his way to meet Geralt before winter sets in, Jaskier gets caught in a storm. When the Witchers have to make an alliance with Temeria to protect themselves from humans wanting to wipe them out, they have to agree to an arranged marriage as part of the alliance. The Wolf School head to Lettenhove for Geralt to marry the son of the Viscount. However when they get there they are not greeted by what they expected, and Geralt is much more hopeful for his future.

Tissaia is trying to extract information from the Nilfgaardian prisoner in the Aretuza dungeons with Vilgefortz's help. Cahir is not having a good time ...

Geralt never intended to return for his child surprise. However, destiny had other plans when he finds himself saving Pavetta and her newborn baby's life.
