2) Ned shouldn't have warned Cersei that he knew the truth about her and Jaime.
.
So, all the children are the Kignslayer's and not Robert's.
I need to tell Robert. It's not right to keep the true origins a secret. The children are bastards.
Should I tell Cersei so she can protect the children?
Yes, I should. Robert clearly doesn't respect her. Doesn't love her. Not the way I do with Cat. He will kill her. I don't want her blood on my hands. And the children are innocent. Even if they weren't mine, I would protect them, like I did with Jon. Cat would do the same, she would try to save the children even if it costs her.
No, I shouldn't. She would just run away and escape punishment. And I can't let Joffrey be the next King, he's a bastard and not the rightful heir.
I shall tell Robert directly.
.
.
"Your Grace, I need to talk to you" Ned started.
"Ah, Ned, cut it out with the Your Grace shit. Call me Robert. We're brothers! Well, we should have been brothers. We would be brothers if not for that damned dragon who took her away from me, from us" he seethed, still pining for his long lost Lyanna.
"It's about your children, Robert. About your wife."
"What about her? What did she do this time?"
"I have discovered something … It's about her … and your children … you're not going to like it …" Ned didn't know how to approach the subject.
"Oh, cut the crap Ned. Stop beating about the bush. Just tell me!"
"Hmm, your wife has been unfaithful. She has been sleeping with another man."
"The fuck! That cunt! Who is it? I'll fucking kill him!"
"It's her brother, Robert. The Kingslayer."
"Fucking cunts! The both of them. Their whole fucking family!"
"Your children, Robert. They are not yours. They are his."
" Mhh … I see" Robert answered after pondering for a few seconds. "How do you know?"
"I've been doing some reading. Baratheons are always black of hair and Lannisters always have golden hair. Your children all have golden hair."
"That's quite an accusation, Ned. But is that all you have?" he raised his eyebrows and cocked his head. "What about your children? Half of them have your wife's coloring. Are you telling me she fucked her oaf of a brother? And your bastard? Are you telling me you fucked your own sister?"
"The book. … I was doing some investigation into Jon Arryn's death. My wife got a letter from her sister implicating the Lannisters in his death. I started digging and I found that this book was the last thing he was reading. He had also looked into your bastards. I met one of them, a boy that works in a forge in Flea Bottom. He has your hair."
"I see"
"Have you ever noticed your sister and her bother to be close? Closer than what would be naturally acceptable?"
"The golden cunt is always there. Always meddling around. I should have sent him to the Wall for killing his King and breaking his vows. It was the father that stopped me. No, it was Jon that stopped me, to please the Old Shit. He said that now that the war was over, I shouldn't be angering my wife's family. To earn their pleasure. Fuck! I should have just killed them all! The old bastard, the fucking dwarf, the oathbreaking kingslayer and that slut of a wife of mine" he hissed in anger.
"Maybe … But we can't dwell."
"Do you think they did it? Jon was like a father to me. Do you think they killed him to stop him from finding the truth?"
"It appears so. Robert."
"They need to die. All of them. I'll bring the sword down myself."
"What about the children? They're innocent."
"Are they? They're not mine, Ned. They are all Lannister."
"What will you do?"
"I'll handle it. Thank you Ned. Thanks for telling me and trusting me. Does she know you suspect? Do any of them know?"
"I don't think so. They obviously knew Jon suspected, that's why they had him killed. I didn't make the same mistake. I was not about to give your wife a chance to cover it up or run away."
"Well done"
And that's how Jaime and Cersei met their end at the chopping block, accused of killing Jon Arryn to cover up their abomination. Did they kill Jon Arryn? Well, it certainly looks that way. Who else could have done it? They were also accused of lying about the origins of their children passing them off as Robert's. And what happened to the children? Joffrey and Tommen were sent to the Wall and Myrcella was sent to the Silent Sisters. Appropriate fate for unwanted orphaned bastards.

MY OPINION: Ned was never one to create trouble, in fact, he always tried to keep a low profile and out of trouble. He never wanted to endanger innocent people. He knew that telling Robert would mean certain death for Cersei and maybe even Joffrey, Myrcella and Tommen. He may not have felt any fondness for Cersei and Joffrey after what happened at the Trident, but he wouldn't want them dead. He had seen Cersei being very protective of her children. He counted on Cersei being a good mother and running away before Robert could do anything. He also based his assumption on his own experience, his wife. That's what Catelyn would have probably done: save the children, even at her own cost. The problem is that Ned didn't anticipate for Cersei counterattacking and killing Robert before he could make a move. It may have backfired or had unintended consequences, but warning Cersei was not a mistake. It was a well-intentioned action to save her and her innocent children from a certain death. At least that's how I see it … I can't fault Ned for trying to save their lives .. What do you think?
Pleaso no bashing. Please provide arguments and not insults.
Thanks.
