What if Rowan hadn't taken Asterin's arrow for Aelin? What would have happened?
Story belongs to Sarah. and if it belonged to me it would me so much gayer
Aelin swore. The Wing Leader had reached the posts, flinging herself over and jumping through the air to land a third of the way down the bridge. Even Aedion's warning shot went long, the arrow imbedding itself where any mortal should have landed. But not a witch. Holy burning hell.
"Go," Rowan roared at Aelin, but she palmed her fighting knives, bending her knees as-
As an arrow fired by the golden-haired lieutenant shot for Aelin from the other side of the ravine.
Aelin twisted to avoid it, only to find a second arrow from the witch already there, anticipating her maneuver.
As the arrow sped towards her, she began to turn around but she was too slow and suddenly the arrow was imbedded in her right shoulder.
For a moment the world stopped.
Aelin slammed onto the temple stones, her blood splattering against the old, aging stones. Aelin's head catapulted back into the stone.
Aelin grunted at force and rushed to get back on her feet.
"Go, just Go!" She shouted.
"No-"
"RUN"It was a voice she had never used before - it was a queens voice that demanded loyalty, respect - that came out along with a blind yank on the blood oath that binded them togther. His eyes flashed with anger, Fury as he turned and raced over the bridge.
Aelin breathed out a sigh of relief and turned readying herself for the onslaught of blood and steel to come, drawing Goldryn and ducking under the Wing Leaders jagged blade.
Aelin rolled away from another incoming strike and bolted towards the bridge that seperated the Wing Leader from her thirteen.
Aelin stopped beside the bridge and raised Goldryn high above her head ignoring the screaming pain in her right shoulder but the arrow that pierced her upper arm a second later was the one that made her scream and fall to her knees as Goldryn slipped through clammy finger tips and into the ravine below. The screams and shouts of her court falling on deaf ears as Manon strolled over to the other bridge and cut.
"No way out this time little one," Manon said cockily to the bleeding girl as she made her way over and crouched down in front of 'The Queen'. Out of the corner of her vision Manon saw the glint of a blade held deftly in Aelin's left hand. Aelin lunged and shouted,"Go,Destroy it Rowan,Please d-!" As Manon grabbed the wrist that held the dagger, turned it round and sent it into Aelin's side wrapping the other arm round the smaller girls waist and held her to her as the girl began to cough up little bits of blood over her shoulder, eyes wide, hand scrambling for purchase on the red cloak. She whispered the word no over and over again the cloak that surrounded them both now pulled her deep into a comforting darkness that had come to embrace her lovingly. And as she gave in to the she heard an angelic voice speak. "Sleep little one for in the morning all will be as it should"
