Jace POV
"Mr Herondale. I will only ask this one last time. Where is the girl?" I hear the chief of police asking Stephen on the other side of the two-way glass.
Stephen just stares at him the same thing he's done for the last week and a half. "Mr Herondale, we know you had her. We will find out where you have kept here but until then enjoy jail. Hope you don't run into anyone you may know." The chief says smiling menacingly at him.
He gets up and walks out of the door signalling to the deputy to lock Stephen up.
"Son, I'm sorry. Your father is a piece of work! Don't worry we will find your girlfriend." He clasps me on my shoulder as I walk out.
Its been over eight weeks now since Clary was taken. She only has ten to twelve weeks left. And despite what my mother and Jocelyn think, I can hear them at night talking about how the stress of being kidnapped could bring on early labour.
I really hope we can find them before anything like that happens. I would kill my father if I miss the birth of my first children because of him being a dick.
I get into my car and start driving with no destination in mind. I can't stop thinking about where they could be. Stephen was staying in a rented house twenty minutes out side of town. The police already spoke to the landlord of that house and he said Stephen only rented the one house from him, the house they found him in, and that he only ever saw Stephen alone never with company male or female.
I think back to the day that Clary was taken. Stephen turned up seven hours after she went missing. You can see in the video of him abducting her that he presses something that looks like an old t-shirt against her mouth. If I had to guess I'd say that it had chloroform on it. I think I read somewhere that it usually took around two to three hours to come back around after having a safe dose of chloroform used against you.
It must have been a safe dose because she has written me two letters since. If I take that seven hours later Stephen was at my house, then take into account it probably took an hour or so to make Clary write the what he wanted on the letter, then it probably at the most only took him three hours to drive to the place he was keeping Clary and three hours back.
I take the next right in the car not even sure where I am and pull over when I finally spot somewhere safe.
I get my phone out and quickly click on Google Maps. I put my location as the hospital and then look at the different places which would take three hours to drive to from there. Hoping to finally work out where he took her.
"Fuck" I throw my phone in the wheel well on the passenger side. Everywhere on Google three hours away I've already been too, and no one there had ever seen Clary.
I wonder if I go back with a photo of Stephen if people would recognise or know him from around those areas.
With that thought in mind I drive back to Clary's house. As soon as I'm parked I run into the house and up to Clary's room. I grab her laptop to quickly print off some flyers.
Why hadn't I thought of doing this before, we may have found her by now if I had.
"Jace, honey, what are you doing? Are you okay? Are you hungry? What happened at the police station with Stephen?" Jocelyn asks whilst rubbing her hands across the back of my shoulder in a motherly fashion.
"Stephen is a dead end, I'm not hungry, I'm okay and I've had an idea." I say in answer to all her questions with out even taking my eyes of the screen in front of me.
"What's your idea hon?" she asks running her hand through my curls. "you need a haircut." She says absentmindedly.
"I was thinking, Stephen obviously didn't take Clary miles away. He was back here with in seven hours. So that must mean that she is somewhere within three and a half hours drive. The only thing is I've already asked everyone around these areas if they have seen Clary. But I realised he wouldn't have let Clary out to roam about where ever they were. But he obviously bought her food and stuff where she is, or someone must have seen him. So, I'm making a few posters with his face on and a number for people to call if they have seen him." I tell her, putting a photo of Stephen on a blank document and writing in big, capital letters, 'HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THIS MAN HERE IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS? IF YES PLEASE CONTACT (447) 359 3593.
"What about doing one with Clary's face too? Maybe now he's in prison someone may see her. Maybe now she can leave the place where he has been keeping her." She says looking over my shoulder. I nod my head at her suggestion and do the same but with a photo of Clary instead.
"Now come down stairs, everyone is here, and we can decide who goes where and start to put the posters up."
"Great idea." I grab the printed flyers and follow Jocelyn down the stairs to see everyone sat around the table the same way we have been doing for the last eight weeks since the bastard took Clary.
"Okay guys, here's the plan…." Jocelyn says.
Jon POV.
I sit in the passenger seat of Sebastian's car holing a pile of flyers. Half with my sisters face on and the other half with the bastard's who thought it was a great idea to kidnap a heavily pregnant seventeen-year-old girl, who also won't tell us where she is. What I would give to have just fifteen minutes unsupervised with that arsehole.
I feel a soft hand reach over and grab my tense fist. "We will find her Jo. I'm sure of it. You know how resourceful Clary is. She will find a way to let Jace know where she is." Sebastian says, all the while rubbing soothing circles over my knuckles.
I release my fists and knot my fingers in with his. "Thank you Seb. I don't know what I would have done these last few months without you."
"I'd do anything for you Jon. I…. I love you Jon. I know it's a shitty timing to tell you now with your sister and her kids missing but I've been trying to tell you for so long it feels like and I don't know I just kind of blurted it out just now, but I needed you to know and I…."
"Seb," I interrupt his rambling. He glances over to me. "Shut up. I love you too. And for the record that was the perfect time to tell me. In all honesty I couldn't hope to hear better words right now. Well, it would be nice to hear that my sister has been found. But this right now, this was perfect. I love you Sebastian Michael Verlac. Forever." I lift his hand to my mouth and kiss his knuckles. I look over to him and see him smiling ear to ear.
Slowly he raises our joined hands to his mouth, kissing my knuckles in return. "I love you more Jonathan Thomas Fray."
Its silent in the car for the next 15 minutes whilst we finish the last little bit of our drive to the destination we were given earlier. When we arrive there, we see that it's a small rundown few blocks, that I wouldn't even call a town in normal circumstances.
"The good things about a town this size is that if anyone has seen Clary then they are more likely know in which little shack thing she is living in as well." Seb says as a way to break the silence that has surrounded us.
"Yeah, hopefully she's in a small town like this. Then at least we'll be able to find her. How many pregnant gingers are there likely to be in this town?" Is my absent reply.
"You know if Clary were here right now she would have some smart-arse remark about how individual she is and how we're so mainstream or something. You'd end up saying something like 'why so salty' and shed reply 'salty is so last year, I'm marinated now. I've grown'" Seb says causing us both too laugh hard and uncontrollably.
" I miss her Seb." I say after we've calmed down.
"I know Jon. I do too. But we'll get her back all three of them. Then maybe Jace will finally tell us the sexes." He says and we start to laugh again.
