Jace POV
Yet again I'm in Clary's bedroom, her pillow in my arm, patiently waiting for my phone to ring with someone with some news on Clary and our children. She's been gone now for 12 weeks. 12 weeks without the love of my life. If this has told me anything it's that I never ever want to be without Clary ever again in my life and as soon as she lets me, I'll make her my wife.
My thoughts are interrupted by my phone ringing. Quickly jumping up to reach it and answer it on the third ring.
"Hello?"
"Hello, am I speaking with Jace?" the lady who's voice I slightly remember asks.
"You are, how can I help?" is my reply.
"Hello Jace, I have someone here with me who would like to speak to you." She says, I hear the smile in her voice as my throat closes. A small gasp escaping, could it be Clary? I hear movement on the other end of the phone and my breathing relaxes.
"Hello?" I make it sound like a question, then I hear it. The most beautiful sound I have heard in the last 12 weeks. Clary's sob. "Clary? Clary is that you baby?" I ask
"Mom, Jocelyn! We've found her! She's coming home!" I scream as I run down the stairs to get to the car. Jocelyn Luke and mom all coming out of the kitchen running to the car with me not even second guessing me at all. I put the phone on speaker so everyone else can hear her too.
"Jace?" she sobs, me heart breaks. "I'm safe, I'm coming home, I'm safe, I'm coming home, I'm safe" She repeats the same thing over and over again.
"Oh my God Clary, were coming to get you. We'll be there soon! Oh my God Clary, you're safe!" I exclaim, and she just keeps sobbing my name.
I stay on the phone just listening to her sobbing my name when suddenly I hear her let out a scream of pain.
"Clary! Clary! What's happened? Clary!" I shout. "Clary baby please answer me. Everyone can here you. Please tell us your safe? I plead. Tears threatening to fall down my face.
"Jace," the voice form earlier is back. "Jace I'm not sure if you remember me but I spoke to you when you were here a little under two weeks ago and I bought you a hot chocolate and asked for your story."
"um yes, yes I do. Tessa, right?" I reply silently urging Luke to drive faster with my eyes.
"Yes, it is. Okay will Jace I believe Clary's waters have just broken and if what I heard earlier in the bathroom is true, then she's had her show as well so this is the real deal. How far away are you from St David's Hospital?" I look at Luke for an answer.
"45 minutes he says into the phone.
"Great, I'm 30 minutes away so what I'm gonna do is buy clary a new pair of pants and were gonna change into them. After we've changed into them we'll start to make our way over to the hospital. Sound okay to everyone?" I hear Clary give a small okay and everyone else in the car agrees so we end the call and sit in silence for a short time until I realise I should probably phone Jon.
"Hello Jace, everything okay?" He answers on the second ring.
"Hey Jon, are you with everyone?" I ask knowing that he's in school despite his protests to Jocelyn that he should stay home. When I know that he's with everyone I take a deep breath ready to answer 5 million questions. "Jon, we've found her." I say, and I hear a small sob and a loud bang straight after.
"Jace what did you tell him. He's crying in the middle of the school hall way." Seb asks after picking up Jon's dropped phone.
"Seb we've found her, she's safe." I say.
"They found her!" I hear Jon scream from the other side of the phone. I hear the whole school erupt in cheers.
"Seb's she's gone into early labour. We're on our way to St David's hospital. Tell Jon to make his way there when he's safe to drive." Jocelyn shouts over my shoulder into the phone.
Seb agrees and the phone call is dropped. I spend the next 25 minutes in silence hoping that Clary, CJ and JJ are safe.
I wanted to name the babies without giving them actual names without getting Clary's input. So, I named them Clary Junior and Jace Junior for now.
40 minutes after saying that we'd be 45 minutes to get to the hospital we arrive at St David's hospital. We all get out of the car run towards the entrance. We make our way towards the nurse's station to ask about Clary. As soon as we get Clary's name out I hear my angel from the left side of me towards the front of the hospital.
"Jace! Mom! Luke! Mom!" Clary screams holding onto her stomach with one arm and the other pushing at a point in her back.
We all run towards Clary, me getting to her first, wrapping my arms around her shoulders and pulling her to me the best I can.
Her arms go around me and her tears soak through my t-shirt, my tears soaking through hers. Jocelyn, Luke and my Mom all have their arms wrapped around us both. We stay there for God knows how long until Clary cries out and puts her hands on her stomach.
As soon as she does that everyone kicks into action. Luke runs off to find a wheel chair for his daughter. Mom and Jocelyn run to the nurse's station to check Clary in and I hold her through her contraction.
"That's the third one she's had since we hung up the phone so that makes her on her fourth contraction, 12 minutes apart with her waters broken and her show had." Tessa says next to me. I jumped at first completely forgetting she was even there.
"Thank you so much Tessa. I don't know how to thank you for giving me my family back." I say to her. She just smiles and says that its fine.
The next few minutes all blur together and the next thing I know I'm in a side room with Clary, our mothers and a doctor. The doctor has her head and hands underneath a blanket that is covering Clary's lower half of her body, checking to see how many centimetres dilated she is.
"Okay Clary, unfortunately your 4cm dilated and we can't do anything to stop the contractions as your waters have already gone. But what we can do is try to slow them down. Obviously, you're at a higher risk of infection because of your waters already being broken so we will have to keep you in hospital but if you would like we could transfer you to the hospital where you were planning on giving birth, I believe you said it was LLH?"
At our nods the doctor continues. "I believe your doctor had already told you about pre-term labour and needing steroids if it was to happen to strengthen your babies' lungs. I think this would be our best idea so what I plan on doing is giving you a cannula in order to get fluids into you as well as the medication to stop your contractions. And then of course I'll give you the steroids through the IV as well. Hopefully we can give you at least a day's dose, if not even half a day's dose can help your children significantly. Are you okay to go with this plan?"
We all look to Clary who agrees and asks to be transferred as soon as possible back to LLH and to the care of Doctor Williams.
