Hello, my lovely readers. One more chapter before you get to find out how Caroline could possibly be a werewolf and more dramatic events crop up. On with the show…

Chapter 17: Crying Wolf

Caroline didn't know what to think the next day when she sat at the breakfast table. It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Finally, Mikael broke the silence. "I will be off on a business trip for the rest of the weekend. I do hope you can manage to not wreck my house while I'm gone," he looked around at everyone. "Boy, did you hear me?" He questioned Klaus, who nodded "Speak up," Mikael shouted at Klaus, who rolled his eyes "He cannot, Mikael, he has laryngitis," Esther said quietly before sipping her tea like her husband was not about to start screaming and throwing the china.

"Then take him to the bloody doctor. Do I have to think of everything around here? I am a busy man, Esther," Mikael informed his wife with a glare.

Esther simply stared back at him while buttering a scone and then taking a bite. Caroline watched the pair and noticed that there was tension in the air. At first she thought it was anger and then she noticed a look between the two parents of her boyfriend which made her flush. "I'm going to go upstairs. I do believe I forgot something up there," Esther said, getting up slowly.

After a moment, Mikael stood up, "Excuse me, everyone I must find a piece of paperwork in my study." Caroline heard Mikael's footsteps heading in the opposite direction of the closed off wing and in the direction that Esther's had headed in. Damon, Stefan and Hayley seemed to have heard the same thing as they exchanged looks with Caroline and each other.

"Huh! Old people sex," Damon said before shoving a scone into his mouth.

"Oh! EW!" Rebekah moaned, placing her hands over her ears. Klaus laughed quietly. Kol gagged. Elijah rolled his eyes just as Sage and Finn walked in.

"Good morning, everyone," Sage called happily. "Sorry, we're late. My hormones are out of control these days."

"Dear God," Rebekah shrieked. "Would all of you stop having sex?" Then she blushed brightly.

Damon smirked, leaning across the table, "Sounds like someone is frustrated."

"Get staked," Rebekah snapped at him.

"Why would he want to steaked?" Marcel asked and everyone looked at each other.

"Its British slang," Damon told him, narrowing his eyes. "And who the hell invited you? Aren't you like a teacher or something?"

Leaning over on his elbows, Marcel balanced his head on his balled fists. "Well, Mr. Salvatore, if you must know, yes, I am a teacher at Whitmore. This is my second year after graduating with a Master's degree. Technically speaking I'm not that much older than my students. Actually, I figure that we're probably about the same age and I hear you were dating the lovey Miss Gilbert before she was out of high school. Isn't that, right?" Marcel's smile was wide as he finished speaking but it held absolutely no friendliness.

Damon smirked at Marcel. "Yeah, Elena and I have been together for a while but I'm not her teacher. Now, am I?"

"Damon," Elena began as the men ignored her.

"Maybe you should stay out of other people's business, E-len-a," Caroline snapped, staring at the table top.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Elena snapped back, crossing her arms and glaring at Caroline.

Caroline looked up and across the table. "It means if you spent more time worrying about your problems with your boyfriend and less on mine than you wouldn't have anything to worry about, period."

"What are you talking about?" Elena asked, her brows knitting together.

"Caroline," Damon began, his eyes narrowing.

"I mean maybe you shouldn't have told my boyfriend that I had sex with Stefan when I didn't," Caroline yelled at Elena. "When Damon was sneaking around with Rebekah for weeks."

"What?" Elena said her face turning pale and she turned to Damon who glared at Caroline.
"Thank you, Caroline," Damon snapped as Elena ran out of the room. "That was just sweet."

"I didn't have sex with Damon," Rebekah shrieked at Caroline.

"Then why was he calling you the day that you were all dressed up?" Caroline asked. "You remember that day, right? The day after the bar fight."

"What bar fight?" Marcel asked.

"You mean the day you came home to tell me that you turned into a mangy mutt like Hayley. So, now we have to chain both of you up tonight?" Rebekah snapped back at Caroline.

"Yes, and I know what you are, Rebekah," Caroline yelled standing up and glaring at the other blonde.

"What in the God's name is going on around here?" Marcel asked as Rebekah stood up, too.

"Just say it," Rebekah snapped. "You're a bloody vampwolf and I am a…"

"A witch," Caroline yelled and everyone stared at Rebekah. "You put a hex on Klaus so he couldn't speak. Hayley had fleas and now so does Elijah. Look at the poor guy," she held out her hand in Elijah's direction who was scratching his neck. "And Kol tried to have sex with Bonnie last night but he couldn't get up."

"Hey," Kol yelled, staring at Caroline. "Invasion of privacy," which everyone at the table laughed at. Then he glared at his sister. "Fix me this instant," he pointed at his problem area and Rebekah grinned.

"With pleasure," Rebekah lifted a hand and sent Kol flying across the room.

"Oh! Wow!" Marcel got up from the table. "What is wrong with you people?"

"We're not really people," Stefan informed him.

Marcel looked slightly sick. "This is seriously messed up," he said, staring at the others.

"Sit down," Caroline demanded.

"Look. This just isn't my scene." Marcel protested.

Caroline's eyes glowed yellow. "Sit down. Now!" She snarled, showing her fangs.

Marcel sat down warily as Caroline turned to Rebekah. "Fix Klaus, Rebekah, or you will regret it."

Rebekah laughed just as Caroline leapt over the table and slammed her against the wall. Caroline lifted Rebekah up the wall. Rebekah's expression darkened and she stared at Caroline, who shrieked in pain and dropped to her knees. "Stop!" Caroline shouted at Rebekah.

"Do not threaten me!" Rebekah snarled at Caroline.

"Rebekah, stop!" Stefan warned her. She looked up to see Stefan's hand around Klaus' throat, whose face was turning blue. "You need to stop or I will kill him before you can blink."

Rebekah stepped back, her face pale as Caroline got to her feet. "Fix, Klaus." Caroline ordered the witch. Sighing, Rebekah looked at her. "I don't know how to. You will have to ask Mother."

"Ask me what?" Esther asked as she walked into the room to see Klaus clutching at his throat and Stefan standing beside him. She didn't wait for anyone to speak before she had Stefan rolling around the floor, screaming in pain. "Do not EVER touch my son again, vampire," she warned Stefan, raising her hand and causing Stefan's body to levitate. "Do we understand each other?"

Nodding, Stefan dropped to his knees, looking unhappy. "Now, what is going on around here?" Esther asked, looking around her at her children and guests.

Sage looked amused by the scene. "See, and you thought it would be boring down here," she told Finn, patting his knee.

Caroline decided to speak up. "Rebekah did some kind of hex or something on Hayley, Klaus and Kol."

Esther nodded, "Well then, I knew I should not have allowed you to read those spell books before you went off to school." She shook her head at Rebekah, who rolled her eyes.

"They deserve it and it was only a little spell," Rebekah protested. "It wasn't even a dark spell, Mother. I listened to you. I did not try anything that would truly hurt someone."

"Oh, Rebekah, you cannot control others' lives without consequences. You must learn to use magic, not to abuse it." Esther scolded her daughter and Klaus held up a cup of coffee, nodding emphatically.

"Oh, shut up," Rebekah snapped at him and Klaus sat back, glaring at her "Oh, right," she replied with a smile.

"Rebekah," Esther shook her head at her daughter and Rebekah sighed.

"I never get to have any fun," Rebekah whined.

"And you will not until you learn other ways of using magic. Take Miss Bennett for example. You do not see her wasting her gift," Esther said, coming to stand behind Bonnie, who looked a little frightened. "All of you should learn to use your powers in the correct way."

Marcel looked around him. "How many of you have these powers?"

Esther looked at him and then smiled. "Do not worry. You will not come to any harm as long as you are under this roof. I will see to it that all of my guests control themselves. That includes my children."

"Not to be rude, Mrs. Mikaelson, but I'm not sure how you can achieve that. I mean I can see you're an all powerful witch, and I grew up in New Orleans, so I learned from a young age to respect what you do, but you have werewolves and vampires and whatever Caroline is… I just can't see you being able to deal with all of that. No offence." Marcel stated his opinion slowly.

Esther's lips twisted upward in a mirthless smile. "You have no idea what I am capable of, Marcel. I hope for your sake you never have to find out." Turning to Rebekah, she waved a hand. "Rebekah. Bonnie. Please, join me so we may discuss what we can do to fix Rebekah's little… mistake."

The three witches left the room and everyone else seemed uncomfortable except for Finn and Sage, who were acting like it was any other day. Maybe for them it was as they talked to each other, ignoring the others.

Marcel got on shaky legs, "I think I'm going to go upstairs and pack. I'll see you in class."

Klaus opened his mouth and then closed it again, growling in frustration. "Marcel, wait." Caroline called as her teacher tried to leave. "Look. I know it's a lot to take in in less than an hour, but I've only been a vampire for a couple of weeks, and a werewolf for even less. I had no idea about any of this stuff before I started school. So, please, stay."

Marcel shook his head, "I don't know. This is just so strange. I mean I like you, Klaus and Rebekah. But I just don't know." Running his hand over the back of his head, he stared into the dining room.

"We're the same people that you liked… except I have fangs and Rebekah can turn you into a mushroom." Caroline tried to lighten the mood with a joke and Marcel chuckled.

"It would be nice if she could turn me into a professional actor with a six figure paycheck before she turns me into something edible," Marcel replied with a grin. "I suppose I could stay for a while longer."

"Good," Caroline replied with a grin. "I promise you won't regret it."

Marcel nodded. "Yeah. Sure. Just promise me one other thing."

"Anything," Caroline told him.

"Promise that you and anyone, who's part of the fang club will keep your teeth out of me, kay?" Marcel told her with a smile but his tone was wary.

"Not a problem," Caroline replied with a wide smile. They were returning to the dining room as Esther came in with Rebekah and Bonnie.

Esther was carrying a bowl and held it out to Klaus first. "Drink," she ordered him. Klaus took a long sip before handing the bowl to Elijah, who passed it to Hayley. Hayley took a sip before handing it to Kol, who wrinkled his nose. "Drink it, Kol," his mother ordered.

"Ugh. It smells like Nik's gym socks," Kol told her. Esther began to walk over to him when he sipped the concoction. "Thank you, Mother. It tastes worse."

"Oh, Kol, shut up," Klaus snapped, rolling his eyes and then he jumped up. "I can speak. Ha ha. Rebekah, you will pay for this in the worst way and you know I am a master of revenge plots. Marcel, you can't go because we need you to lighten this place up a bit. Mother, thank you and please tell Father to kiss my arse." Looking thoughtful, he smiled happily. "Stefan, I am taking my girlfriend upstairs and am about to give her the best sex of her life. Something you will never do, mate."

Klaus took Caroline by the hand and yanked her out of the room. When they were upstairs, Caroline glared at him. "That was not necessary," she told Klaus as he jerked his shirt off and then his pants.

"Yes, it was, love. That vampire needs to understand that you are mine. That you will never be his no matter how many times he shows up with some excuse to whisk you off to 'talk.'" Wrapping his arms around Caroline, he looked down at her. "You didn't have to come up here, Caroline. We both know that you're stronger. I can't force you to do anything you don't want to do."

Shaking her head, Caroline felt Klaus' hands reach for the bottom of her shirt. Yanking it up over her head, Klaus unhooked her bra and pressed his lips to her breasts, sucking at them as his hands squeezed her flesh gently, making her lose concentration.

"Klaus, you can't use sex to solve all of our problems," Caroline whispered, running her hands through his hair as he moved his mouth down to her stomach and unbuttoned her pants before pulling them down her legs.

Becoming frustrated, Caroline dropped to her knees and yanked Klaus to his feet. Shoving him backwards so that he stumbled slightly, looking confused as Caroline's look became predatory. She shoved him again, making him stumble once more, when he ran into the bed and fell on his back.

Leaping on top Klaus, Caroline straddled him and then allowed her eyes to shine yellow. "Stop! Trying! To! Manipulate! Me! My! Little! Human! You can stop with the alpha male crap. I am the alpha female and if anyone will submit to anyone else it will be YOU to ME." Caroline finished her speech before she sank her teeth into Klaus' neck causing him to place his hands on her back and holding her tightly.

Pulling away, Caroline looked down at Klaus, who seemed to be happy with her behavior and it scared her a little. But she couldn't seem to stop. Taking his wrist in her mouth, she bit him again and sucked deeply. Removing her fangs, she leaned down, finding a vein in his thigh, she bit him there, too. She could feel him weakening slightly. Slowing down, she slid her fangs back out. Taking his boxers between her teeth, she yanked them off and threw them aside. Climbing back on top of Klaus, she lowered her mouth to another source of blood and bit him, making him cry out in pain laced with pleasure.

After drinking her fill, Caroline looked at Klaus, who was pale and his breathing was weak. Caroline thought that she definitely needed to learn when she had taken too much if they were to keep this up. "Klaus," she whispered to her lover, who opened his eyes slowly staring at her.

"Yes, Caroline?" Klaus asked weakly. Caroline bit into her wrist and held him without a word. Klaus took her wrist and began to drink her blood as she moved her mouth downward, with her fangs firmly retracted and began to suck at the healing skin gently until she was satisfied with her work. Climbing on top of Klaus, she eased him toward her and sighed deeply as she began to move against him.

"You need to stop pissing others off," Caroline whispered, moving up and down slowly feeling Klaus regaining his strength and moving with her. Without answering, he pulled her mouth to his, pressing his tongue against hers moving it fervently as the rest of his body moved with same amount of passion and delight.

"I will do whatever you wish, Caroline," Klaus whispered as she arched her back and ran his hand up her throat fascinated by how she looked. "You inspire me in so many ways you would not believe," he murmured.

"And all I want to do is keep you safe. I don't know how to do that when all you want to do is provoke supernatural beings to want to harm you," Caroline told Klaus, staring down at him as he began to move more quickly and she thought of journeys ending as they headed toward the final lap of their race. Sighing deeply, Klaus looked up at Caroline, who looked happy and frightened as she laid her head down on his chest.

They went to sleep and stayed that way for most of the day. When they woke up they began to argue again like they had never stopped. Sometimes Caroline believed they never would.

"We're all dying, Caroline," Klaus told her, stroking her hair. "I need you to know that I want to be with you forever."

"Klaus," Caroline protested weakly as she intertwined her fingers with his.

"You can't protect me forever. And I do not wish for you protect me. I want to be your equal. I want to be by your side."

"But I'm not just a vampire," Caroline reminded him.

Klaus stared into her eyes. "I know, Caroline."

"So, how can we ever be equals?" Caroline asked, looking at him.

"There has to be a way," Klaus told her thoughtfully. "A spell or something. Maybe Hayley could bite me and we could see if it will turn me into a werewolf."

Sitting up, Caroline stared at him, horrified. "Are you crazy? Why do you think Hayley would do that?"

"I don't know. But we can ask her. She's going to turn shortly, right? Therefore she has time to talk." Klaus got up and began to dress.

"Klaus, you are not asking Hayley to turn you into a werewolf," Caroline told him. "And I need to get chained up, too. I can't believe I forgot. Oh, this is horrible." Caroline jerked her clothes on.

They hurried out into the hallway to find Hayley coming out of her room with Elijah. Rebekah and Bonnie came out of their rooms as well. There was no sign on any of the other guests or family members as the group made their way across the lawn toward the cellar that Klaus said would be the perfect place for the two women to shift.

When Hayley was about to open the door, Klaus stopped her, to Caroline's annoyance. "Hayley, I was wondering if you would do me a favor and help me with an experiment?"

Hayley stared at Klaus warily, pursing her lips. "What kind of experiment?"

"I would like you bite me so I may find out if I can become a werewolf," Klaus told her.

"What?" Hayley looked horrified. "Are you insane? You do know you have to kill someone to complete the transition?"

"Yes," Klaus told her seriously. "There are plenty of horrible people in the world. I think it can spare one."

"You're insane," Hayley snarled, turning her back on him.

"But you'll at least consider it?" Klaus asked, sounding like he was almost begging which was strange coming come from a man with so much pride.

"No," Hayley snapped at Klaus. "That is my answer." Pulling the door to the cellar open, she began to descend. "I don't know why anyone in their right mind would want this curse, let alone someone who wasn't… OH!"

"What?" Caroline asked just as she spotted what was shocking Hayley. "I guess this place is already occupied," she whispered, staring at Mikael, who was chained up, wearing nothing but his shorts.

"Father?" The three Mikaelson children said, their shock evident.

Hayley was the only one to speak up. "Well, Klaus I guess you won't be needing me to bite you after all because you've already got the gene. Good luck with that. Personally, I'm not up for rooming with your Daddy. Need to find somewhere else to stay for the night." She disappeared to leave the rest of the group to gawk at Mikael.

Guest: I really like to play with the idea of Rebekah being a witch in some of my stories because it would so cool if she were. She enjoys the hexing thing.

Stefan and Caroline will find a way to get through this rough patch with time…

There will still be moments in which we see Caroline dealing with gaining her vision but right now the plot is focusing on several other things.

Laoise: Thank you. It just came out in a crazy rush and I can't believe that there are so few chapters left before I have to start writing again because this story is loooong and complicated.

Haybex: Thank for joining us. I am happy that you're enjoying the fic. I have a one story called, "Her Greatest Desire" that I don't update as often but it features Rebekah and I have another Bekah centric fic called "You Don't Own Me" which will be coming out sometime in early May.

Thank you for reading, faving, following and reviewing: Guest, pleasesaycaroline and HayBex.

Peace,

LL
