Hello, my lovely readers. This chapter is has some Klaroline flirting, a little family bonding with the Mikaelsons and co., and all out chaos. On with the show…

Chapter 23: Man Troubles

Rebekah was dragging Caroline into a dress shop. "They're having a sale," Rebekah explained, dragging her roommate to the back of the store. "You'll find the best pieces in the back." Roaming the racks, Rebekah hummed, pulling dresses out, wrinkling her nose and making little fussing noises before placing them back on the rack.

"Can I help you?" A young woman asked, coming to stand beside them.

Rebekah looked her up and down. "Yes. You'll do," waving at the rack, Rebekah ignored the way the woman stiffened. "My friend has to have the perfect dress to win her boyfriend back. He's my brother and has very good taste. So, nothing cheap, ugly or stylish to the point of being ridiculous. Something classic and sexy. I mean look at my friend. She has lovely legs. She needs something to showcase them. I was thinking a LBD."

"What's an LBD?" Caroline asked, confused. Rebekah still seemed to forget that Caroline had only been able see for a short time now and that colors were something new to her.

"Little black dress," the sales woman told Caroline. "I think I have something in the back that would be perfect for you. Just one moment."

Going back to the racks, Rebekah pulled out a short, red dress. Holding it up it to herself she sighed. "Get it," Caroline ordered. "And wear it tonight."

Frowning, Rebekah looked at the dress. "It's too sexy."

"And you're sexy. Don't let what happened ruled your life. Now, buy the bloody dress and let's go! Chop Chop, love," Caroline ordered Rebekah with her hands on her hips and her nose in the air.

"I do not sound like that. Nor do I look like that," Rebekah snapped and then she turned to look at the dress again. "Okay." Walking back to the dressing room, Rebekah came out minutes later. "How do I look?"

"Gorgeous. Of course. Now, take it off so we can get moving." Caroline looked over when the saleswoman brought out a short black dress. It was made of satin and had spaghetti straps. "Oh!" Caroline cried, taking the dress. She ran back to the dressing room, slid the dress on and pulled the zipper up.

Coming back out to show her friend, Caroline spun around. Rebekah clapped and stated her opinion, "That is the one."

Leaving the shop with dresses and new shoes, they decided to go through the various places that one might get a drink at. Giving up after some time looking, Rebekah called Kol. "How is Hayley? Good. Do you know where Nik is?" Rebekah's eyes lit up. "Wonderful. Thank you, brother." She grabbed Caroline by the hand and they hurried to the next intersection. Coming to a stop in front of a little club, Rebekah opened the door and they entered.

There was the strain of blues music and little red booths. A perfectly intimate place and Caroline hoped that Klaus was at the bar. But, no, he had to be in a booth talking to her classmate with his hand on her knee. Gritting her teeth, Caroline snarled. "Down, Care," Rebekah whispered. "He'll take you home tonight. Not her."

"Damn right he will be," Caroline retorted, marching over to the bar and ordering a drink. Sitting down on a stool, she noticed Rebekah staring at the dance floor. Turning on her stool, Caroline's eyes widened to see Marcel dancing with a woman.

Rebekah was now staring at the floor and began to walk out. "Bekah," Caroline hissed. "Get your ass over here. Now!" Rebekah stared at Marcel and then turned to come sit beside Caroline.

"This sucks," Rebekah muttered, pouting.

Caroline nodded and then shoved her drink in front of Rebekah before ordering another. "Hello, ladies. What are you doing out at club on a school night? And drinking no less?" Marcel asked, coming to lean on the bar beside Rebekah.

"It's not your concern," Rebekah snapped. "Where's your friend? Did she get lost on the way to the loo?"

Marcel looked at Rebekah. "And see I thought you didn't like me," he teased.

Rebekah scoffed. "Why should I? You're just a teacher at a third rate institution who's trying to pay his bills because he could not realize his dream of making it in the BIG world of acting." She finished her speech with jazz hands and a mocking look.

Staring at Rebekah, Marcel held out a hand. "Dance with me, Bekah?"

"Why?" Rebekah asked, looking horrified, her voice barely audible.

"Because I like you. Even when you're being sassy and giving me lip, I like you. If you want to be rude to me, I answer it with kindness. If you want to mock me, I answer it with a compliment. If you want to slap me, I will answer it with the most tender kiss of your life. You can't scare me off, Miss Mikaelson. Because I'm not going to run. No matter hard you push. Now, dance with me. Please?" Marcel asked, staring at Rebekah seriously.

Caroline watched Rebekah get off the stool shakily and take Marcel's hand. Spinning on her stool to watch them she found herself facing a chest. Smelling that woodies smell of his, she gazed up at Klaus who had that smirk of his plastered across his face. "Hello, Caroline."

"Klaus," she replied, leaning back against the bar and allowing him to fully appreciate what he was staring at.

"What are you doing here, love?" Klaus asked, leaning over her, placing a hand on either side of her and the air was filled with his scent. She had to stop herself from spreading her legs and yanking him to her.

"I came to sing a song," Caroline told him.

"Oh," Klaus said, amused, looking her over. "I didn't think you liked to get on the stage without a little help."

"I thought you were on a date?" Caroline retorted.

"She's in the bathroom," Klaus told her, staring into Caroline's eyes, moving his mouth so it was a mere inch from Caroline's. "So, how was Stefan? Did he satisfy you the way I did?"

Smirking up at Klaus, Caroline moved forward on the bar stool so their lips were almost touching as she slid a leg to either side of him, running one foot up and down his leg. Klaus peered down at her foot and then back at Caroline, his eyes darkening. "No, he didn't. We didn't get that far." Caroline whispered. "I realized that there's only one man who could ever give me what I want."

"Oh," Klaus whispered back. "Do I know this man? Because I will have to fight him, I suppose."

"You might know him," Caroline whispered her voice husky as she pressed her lips to Klaus' ear and felt him shiver. "You'll have to excuse me. I have to go sing my song." Pushing Klaus away from her, Caroline walked up to the stage and took the microphone. "Hi, everyone. I have a little song I want to sing to a very special guy. We've been having problems. But I hope he understand how I feel."

Leaning toward the mic like it was Klaus, Caroline began to croon.

You give me fever

Every night and day

Fever

Caroline watched Klaus stare at her like he was seeing her for the first time. Taking a moment to check on her friend, she saw Rebekah with her head on Marcel's chest. She looked like she was finally relaxing and Caroline grinned as she sang. Then she moved to look at Klaus, who was still staring at her. His date came over and he said something to her briefly. The girl's shoulders slumped before she walked out the door.

When Caroline was done, Klaus came to take her hand as she descended the stairs. "That was lovely, Caroline. Thank you."

"Who said that was for you?" Caroline teased him as he led her to the dance floor. "That was for Marcel. Darn your sister for sneaking in looking so smoking tonight."

Klaus turned to look at his sister. "She seems happy tonight. She hasn't been doing too well of late. But tonight she seems better. Thank you, Caroline."

"Seriously, Klaus, you have to stop assuming I have anything to do with these things," Caroline replied.

Things seemed perfect just as Rebekah cried out. "My shoe. That was brand new." Caroline looked over to see Rebekah holding a broken heel in her hand. "I am going back to that store and making them give me my money back."

Stomping off the dance floor with one heel on, Rebekah looked like she might be drunk from the way she was hobbling. Caroline slapped her hand over her mouth to prevent herself from giggling. "Stop," Rebekah ordered, not bothering to turn around.

"Marcel," the woman that Marcel had been dancing with called.

Caroline watched Marcel turn to look at the woman. "Oh, hey, Soph," Marcel greeted her. Rebekah turned around to frown at the other woman. "People, I want to introduce an old friend from NOLA. Sophie Devereux, this is Caroline Forbes," Caroline waved. "Klaus Mikaelson," Klaus gave a slight bow. "And this beautiful, young lady in the red dress is Rebekah Mikaelson."

"Charmed. I'm sure," Rebekah said, sneering before she walked away.

"Rebekah! Bekah! Sassy!" Were shouted after Rebekah, who continued to wobble out as quickly as she could. Caroline, Klaus and Marcel followed Rebekah out onto the sidewalk.

"Which way was the bleeding shop?" Rebekah demanded, staring around her and her mascara was running down her face as she cried.

"Hey, Rebekah. Honey. Calm down." Marcel called, approaching her cautiously like someone would approach a deer.

"Leave me alone. You're just like every other stupid man I have ever met. I NEED to find the shop. They have to be held accountable for the shoddy workmanship. You can't just go around selling people shoes that fall apart after one little stroll. TELL ME. WHY?" Rebekah screamed, causing people on the sidewalk to stare at her. "WHY?" Rebekah howled and then her eyes turned yellow. Growling, she ripped off her other shoe and fled.

"What was that?" Marcel asked, looking at Klaus and Caroline.

Caroline just shook her head before running after Rebekah. "Bekah!" Caroline shouted. "Re-be-kah!" Running into an alleyway, she found Rebekah sitting on the ground, shivering and staring around her.

Kneeling down, Caroline looked at Rebekah. "You're okay. Rebekah, you're okay."

Nodding, Rebekah stared up at the half full moon. "I'm alright. Everything is alright."

Klaus and Marcel came to stand behind Caroline. Klaus stooped down to pick his sister up. "Nik," Rebekah whispered.

"Bekah. You will be fine." Klaus whispered back.

"He's not dead, Nik," Rebekah whispered. "He's not dead. He haunts me. I can't get away from him. Every time I close my eyes. We have to go to the woods and make sure that he's still buried."

"What is she talking about?" Marcel asked quietly.

Caroline shook her head. "We can talk about it some other time."

"Right," Marcel said as they walked to Klaus' car.

"Promise me, Nik," Rebekah was saying as he buckled her into the front seat. "Promise me you'll check and make sure he's there."

"Yes, Sister," Klaus murmured. "Rest now," Rebekah closed her eyes and began to go to sleep.

The drive back to Whitmore's campus was silent. When they arrived Caroline decided to ask Marcel a question in case Rebekah woke up and begin talking again. "Do you think that you maybe should have given Sophie a ride home?"

Marcel chuckled. "You know how Esther and Rebekah Mikaelson are witches. So is Sophie. Besides she picked me up and drove us to the club. She wanted to know if the blues up here compared to the blues at home."

"And the verdict was?" Caroline asked with a grin.

"Not even close. But she didn't get to hear you. You were good up there," Marcel told Caroline with a wide grin. "Now, let's see how Sassy's doing?"

Caroline and Marcel walked into the dorm room to find Klaus tucking Rebekah in. Hayley was curled up on her bed with Kol at the end of the bed and the box of Lucky Charms between them. "Everything okay?" Hayley called, looking at them.

"Yeah," Caroline said, turning around to close the door to find two men in the doorway. "Yes?" Caroline said, feeling confused.

"Hello, M'am. Are you Rebekah Mikaelson?" The shorter man asked.

"No," Caroline replied. "Why are you looking for Rebekah?"

"I am Detective Nadol and this is my partner, Detective Branon. We have to speak to Miss Mikaelson because we have reason to believe she is the last person to have seen George Richards before he disappeared over three weeks ago," The detective informed Caroline.

Getting up from where he was sitting on the bed beside his sister, Klaus made his way over to the door. Caroline moved sideways and took Klaus' hand. "Good evening, detectives. I am Niklaus Mikaleson. My sister," he waved a hand in the direction of Rebekah, laying on her bed. "Is indisposed at the moment due to illness. If you would like to speak to her tomorrow morning, you may." He laced his finger between Caroline's, she felt his anxiety and heard the swift pumping of blood moving through his veins.

"You can wake her up," Detective Branon informed Klaus. "I'm sure she can talk to us for a few minutes."

Caroline squeezed Klaus' hand and moved in front of him. "As my boyfriend said, Detectives. Rebekah is not well and you can talk to her tomorrow." She stated the words slowly, staring into the eyes of each of the two detectives.

"Yes. I guess we could do this in the morning." Detective Nadol replied, shaking his head.

"Yeah. Tomorrow. Be sure she's doesn't leave," Detective Branon told them and then the two detectives left.

Klaus closed the door and the group stared at each other. "What is going on here?" Marcel asked, staring at Caroline and then Hayley, who were staring at each other.

"You're better off not knowing," Kol told him.

"You know what's going on?" Klaus asked his brother, who stared at Rebekah.

"Yes, Caroline told me," Kol informed him, running his hand over his face. "Is there anything else the son of a bitch can do to her?"

"Who the hell is this George Richards character?" Klaus asked them, his nostrils flaring as he stared at them. "And why did you tell Kol and not me?" Klaus questioned Caroline, whirling on her.

"Because he kept calling her names like he does and it was wrong. You shouldn't talk to someone that way when they've been through what Rebekah went through," Caroline told him, feeling guilty about not answering his questions.

"I'm pregnant," Hayley announced just as the door opened and Elijah stepped through.

"You're what?" Elijah asked, gaping at Hayley.

Hayley's eyes widened. "It's not yours. So, don't worry about it… It's… It's…"

"Mine," Klaus said. "What can I say? I'm a man whore. Now, back to the Bekah problem."

"How far along are you?" Elijah questioned Hayley.

"About the time I gave her the ride of her life," Klaus snapped. "BEKAH!"

Rebekah sat bolt upright. "What? What's wrong?"

"Hayley's carrying Nik's love child," Kol said.

"What?" Rebekah asked, her face twisting in confusion.

"Do you know someone named George?" Klaus asked, folding his arms.

"Who's George and why is he more important than the paternity of Hayley's child?" Elijah demanded.

"George is an evil rapist who Rebekah bludgeoned with a big piece of glass," Caroline blurted.

"CAROLINE!" Rebekah yelled, furious.

"He deserved it," Caroline fired back.

"Yeah, he did," Hayley said, popping Lucky Charms in her mouth.

"Is that what you were going on about earlier?" Klaus questioned Rebekah.

"What?" Rebekah asked, looking pale.

"Is that what you were talking about?" Klaus repeated his question. "In the car. You kept saying I needed to make sure he was still buried. Is that whose car you asked me to dispose of?"

"Oh," Marcel said, causing everyone to look at him. "So, that's why you stopped talking to me."

"Yes," Rebekah admitted. "I just didn't know what to do. And now you know. You all know. But why are you asking me?"

"Because there were police here to talk to you?" Kol told her.
"What?" Rebekah murmured.

"Don't worry. Caroline compelled them to go away. But they'll be back tomorrow," Klaus muttered, staring at the floor. "Oh, Bekah, you should have told us. We're your family."

"Try being the only girl in the family," Rebekah snapped. "None of you ever understood how I felt growing up."

"That's not fair. Nik has always had a feminine side. Right, Nik?" Kol joked.

Klaus groaned. "I allow Bekah to put makeup on me one time and I never live it down."

"You looked lovely, Nik, you shouldn't be ashamed of your inner beauty." Kol called to Klaus. "And what was the excuse for the dress and heels, pray tell?"

"It was All Hallow's Eve," Klaus growled back.

"Right then. Glad we cleared that up," Kol retorted. "Bekah, darling, where did you hide the body?"

"Why?" Rebekah asked dully.

"We might want to move it so the nosy detectives don't go digging it up," Kol replied.

"I buried him in the woods," Rebekah said, staring at the floor.

"Then off to the woods we go, not to Grandmother's house," Kol announced, crossing the room, he held out a hand to his sister. "Bekah, we need your help, darling."

Rebekah got off the bed, on shaky legs and Kol wrapped an arm around her waist to keep her on her feet. They headed out of the dorm and walked to the woods near the campus. Everyone was silent as they walked. Rebekah stopped above a patch of earth. "Here. I buried him here."

None of them had thought to bring a shovel so Caroline dropped to her knees and began to claw at the earth with her bare hands. She was vaguely surprised when Klaus dropped down beside her and began to dig with his own bare hands. They worked for half an hour digging three feet deep. "How far down did you bury him, Bekah?" Klaus asked, wiping sweat off his brow.

Rebekah shook her head in dismay and horror. "He should be there. That is where I buried him. Why isn't he there? Oh, my god. What if he's still alive?" She moaned, sinking to her knees.

"We'll keep you safe, Bekah," Kol reassured his sister as they stared into the empty hole.

Thank you for reading, faving, following and for reviewing: GossipGirlVampire, lavanya, lainpati, Guest, Privithi 14, Klaroline-Lovegames and ilyreid.

GossipGirlVampire: I believe that your question was answered and I hope that you liked it.

Lavanya: It was established early in this story that Stefan was in love with Caroline. When Caroline found out in this story she's confused and Klaus adds to the confusion. For her to be with Stefan would be easier than to be with Klaus because there would be less drama. By the time that we're in the story she's figured that it does not matter that being with Klaus means that her life will be full of drama because she loves him and there's not a thing that she can do about it.

In my opinion, most of the time Stefan is dull but that's me. Not a Stefan lover but I can try to make him less boring after chapter 30.

I hope that you liked the Klaroline.

Lanipati: Thank you! Rebekah is one of the best characters on TVD/TO and I was so disappointed when Claire decided to leave TO as a series regular. And I love the lines that you picked out of the last chapter, too.

Privthi 14: I love Bekah, too.

Klaroline-lovegames: I know. Stefan just can't give up. But I think that's the last time that he's going to try.

Ilyreid: Caroline shouldn't have to remind Klaus but he's a proud pain in the ass. I'm not a Steroline fan. It's boring and I'll probably be doing a lot of yawning during season six.

Peace,

Jessica
