Hello, my lovely readers. For those of you that I did not PM and answer the burning question "who is the father of Hayley's baby" the answer is in this chapter. I will see you at the bottom. On with the show…

Chapter 24: Under Investigation

Everyone in the dorm room was tense the next morning. They should be going to Geography class in an hour but they had to stay. They had to wait for the detectives to show up. Klaus and Caroline were sitting on the floor in a circle with their friends. Elijah was sitting next to them, Rebekah was curled up in Marcel's arms, shivering across from Caroline. Kol was on Rebekah's left with Hayley to her left trying, to avoid Elijah's suspicious looks.

There was a knock on the door and everyone stared at it. The person knocked again, more forcefully this time. "Rebekah?" Mikael called through the door.

Rebekah jumped to her feet and ran to the door. Jerking it open, she flung herself into her father's arms. "Daddy," she moaned, beginning to sob. Mikael held his daughter tightly, looking enraged.

Esther was standing beside her husband and her face was pale. "We should go inside Mikael," she whispered, looking around the hall.

Mikael nodded and picked Rebekah up like she was still a child. He carried her inside the room. He came in and sat her down on her bed. Staring at the others, Mikael looked like he was going to start screaming at them. "What is going on around here?" He asked them slowly and quietly. His tone was low but his rage was evident.

"A man assaulted Bekah, Father," Klaus told him getting to his feet and coming to stand before him. "She apparently killed him and buried his body in the woods. She asked me to dispose of the vehicle. She told me that she had stolen the vehicle as a prank but she didn't want to get caught. So, I got rid of it. Now, there are detectives coming to question her this morning."

Mikael's shoulders slumped as he looked at his daughter. "Oh, Bekah," he groaned, placing a hand on her cheek. Rebekah stared up at her father like she thought he could make all her problems go away. "I will do what I can to get you out of this mess. However, if you ever kill anyone again or hurt anyone you come to me. Do you understand me, girl?"

Nodding, Rebekah let out a long breath. "Yes, Father."

"I hope that will not be a problem," Esther murmured.

Whirling around to face his wife, Mikael glared at Esther. "She has triggered the curse, Esther. There is no telling the damage she will cause." Seeing Rebekah's look of distress over her father's words, Marcel stood up and walked over to sit beside her on the bed. Mikael looked down at the theater teacher "Who are you?"

"Mikael, he came to dinner that one time and even stayed in our home that weekend the children came home." Esther reminded her husband resting a hand on his arm.

"Oh, yes, I remember you now. You hit Kol. Can't say he doesn't deserve it. Boy doesn't know when to curb his mouth. Nor does young Niklaus, who I see has not scared off Miss Forbes with his disposition." Taking a moment to stare at Klaus and Caroline, he shook his head and return to Rebekah. "When the detectives come, say as little possible. I will handle them."

Rebekah nodded, twisting her hands in her lap. There was another knock on the door and Mikael walked over to answer it. "Hello?"

"Care? Weregirls? Did you hire a bodyguard?" Damon called from the door, peering around Mikael. He started to walk around Mikael when the father of the Mikaelsons placed his hand on Damon's chest and shoved him back into the hallway.

"I do not think so, Vampire," Mikael hissed.

"Mikael, it is alright," Esther said, coming to the doorway. "He is a friend of the girls."

"Use that word loosely," Caroline muttered, giving Damon an evil look as he walked around Mikael and into the room.

"What, is it someone's birthday and no one told me?" Damon asked, looking around him with a smile until he took in the looks on the faces of the occupants of the room. "Or not. Funeral then. What's going on?"

"None of your business," Mikael snapped. "This is a family problem. Leave."

Damon folded his arms and looked around again. "I'm going to say something crazy here. So, try not to lose your temper there, Papa Mikaelson. Care, Hales and Marcie, there are not family. Now, in our little group we make it up as we go along. As an orphan, myself, I feel that these wonderful people are my family. Therefore, yeah, I get to know," Damon informed Mikael. "And I'll help if I can."

Narrowing his eyes at Damon, Mikael was about to speak when there was another knock on the door. Mikael went over and opened the door. "Another one," he hissed. "Are you here to help as well?"

Peering around Mikael, Caroline inhaled deeply seeing Stefan. "Actually, I was looking for Caroline. Is she here?" Stefan asked before seeing Caroline staring at him. "Hey, Care."

"Oh, wonderful." Klaus muttered. "Love, look it's your other boyfriend come a calling," Walking away from Caroline, he went to sit with Hayley. "I thought I should start looking out for the next generation and all, since you'll be busy."

Turning around to stare at Caroline and then at Klaus, Mikael's gaze came to rest on Hayley. "Next generation?" He questioned them as Stefan slid into the room and came over to talk to Caroline. Mikael shook his head as he closed the door. "Are you pregnant, girl?"

"Yes, Sir," Hayley muttered, looking terrified.

"What is wrong with all of you, killing people, getting girls pregnant, having two boyfriends?" Mikael shook his head. "Things used to be far less complicated. Well, Niklaus, I suppose you will have to kill the vampire and reclaim your woman. But we have other things to attend to now."

"What do you mean 'kill the vampire?" Damon demanded. "Your little werebaby in the making is not killing my brother." Looking furious, Damon glared at Mikael.

"That baby is NOT yours, Niklaus. It is mine." Elijah interrupted the would be fight between Damon and Mikael.

"No, it isn't," Hayley swore.

"Yes, it is," Caroline snapped. "And I'm going back to Klaus. I'm sorry, Stefan, but I love him. So, there will be no killing of the vampire."

"Who's a vampire?" Elena asked from the doorway. She had a basket in her hands.

Hayley began to sniff the air, crawling on all fours to the doorway and sniffed the basket as Elena stared down at Hayley with wide eyes. "Blueberry," Hayley hummed before taking the basket and then crawling back over to sit with Kol. They began to pull out muffins and devour them. "Good," Hayley murmured.

"I brought muffins for Rebekah because I thought that we could talk about why I was annoying her so much. I really want to be your friend," Elena told Rebekah quietly right before Mikael grabbed her by the arm and jerked her into the room.

"Where are all of these people coming from?" Mikael demanded. "I'm paying for you to get an education, Rebekah. Not to have a party."

Rebekah began to sob and Marcel shushed her while Esther glared at her husband. "Mikael!"

"Muffin?" Elena asked Rebekah, who nodded. Elena walked over to the basket and had to pry it away from Kol to be able to bring it to Rebekah, who sniffled and began to eat. There was another knock on the door.

"Let me guess. That would be the detectives?" Mikael said as he opened the door to reveal Bonnie, holding trays of steaming coffee drinks.

"I brought coffee," Bonnie called before handing them to Mikael and walking into the room.

"That is it," Mikael boomed, his face turning red. "Everyone, out!"

"Geez! I'm sorry I handed him the drinks," Bonnie said, shaking her head before retrieving them and handing out drinks to the assorted company.

When Bonnie handed one to Hayley, Elijah snatched it away. "It's not good for the baby," Elijah informed her.

"And?" Hayley snapped. "It's not your concern."

"So you are pregnant," Elena said gleefully. "You're going to have such a cute baby."

"Shut up," Mikael snapped at her.

"Watch it. She's a crier," Damon warned with a smirk.

"Screw you, Damon," Elena snapped at him.

"No thanks, Lena," Damon snapped back.

"Did you two break up?" Kol inquired, sipping his drink.

"Yes," Damon said.

"No," Elena said at the same time, staring at Damon.

"In that case are you free for a movie on Friday night?" Kol inquired, staring at Elena.

"No, she's not," Stefan snapped.

"What, did you call dibs or some such nonsense?" Kol asked with a grin.

"No. He's too busy trying to get in my girlfriend's pants," Klaus snapped at his brother, glaring at Stefan

Stefan glared back. "She wasn't your girlfriend, you psycho."

"Yes, she is. Caroline is mine. No matter what. She will always be mine," Klaus snarled, crouching down about to leap on Stefan. When there was another knock on the door. Mikael opened the door half-expecting the rest of Whitmore's student body and faculty to enter the room.

"Hello, Sir. We're looking for a Rebekah Mikaelson. We need to talk to her," Detective Nadol informed Mikael.

"Ah, yes. Just a moment, gentleman. Bekah," Mikael, called looking at his daughter, who forced herself to stand up and walk to the door.

"Rebekah Mikaelson?" Detective Nadol looked at Rebekah expectantly.

"Yes," Rebekah said, resisting the urge to wrap her arms around herself.

"Could you step outside for a moment?" Nadol asked and Rebekah looked up at her father. Mikael nodded before stepping out into the hallway with Rebekah and the detectives. He closed the door behind him.

"What are they saying?" Klaus demanded, looking at the vampires.

"How would they know?" Elena asked, taking a muffin and sitting on Rebekah's bed.

"Shush," Caroline snapped at Elena before closing her eyes and concentrating. "They're asking Rebekah about George," she said.

"Who's George?" Elena asked.

"I will kill you," Klaus snarled.

"Sorry I asked," Elena muttered.

"Rebekah said he dropped her off at the dorm. And she hasn't heard from him since. Nadol asked if she can recall anything odd. And if she's sure that's how the events occurred because they found an earring at George's apartment. Mikael just said if they wanted to speak with Rebekah again then they would do it with a lawyer present. Now, Branon asked if there was a reason Rebekah would need a lawyer. Mikael said this was harassment and he would be in touch with their supervisor. They're coming back inside now."

Mikael opened the door and Rebekah walked inside, looking pale. She didn't say a word when she saw Elena sitting on her bed eating a muffin. Marcel got up and wrapped his arms around her. Rebekah stared at her friends as Damon opened his mouth. "So, is George the jackass?"

Staring at Caroline, Rebekah's eyes narrowed. "Is there anyone you didn't tell?"

"Me," Elena said, looking at the two.

"Wonderful," Rebekah snapped, pulling away from Marcel. "Now, that everyone is here I might as well announce it like it's a bloody celebration. I was sexually assaulted by a man named, George bloody Richards. I killed him and triggered my werewolf gene."

"You're a werewolf?" Elena asked, staring at Rebekah, her eyes wide.

"Yes, I am," Rebekah said, frowning. She turned to look at Damon. "Is she brain damaged? Or did you compel her?"

"What do you mean 'compel me?" Elena asked, her voice rising. "What is going on?"

"Elena, everything is fine," Stefan said, looking Elena in the eye who nodded and calmed down.

"Oh, I see you have little brother do your dirty work." Rebekah snapped at Damon. "Elena!" Rebekah called and Elena turned to look at her. "Your boyfriend is a vampire."

"What?" Elena asked, staring at Damon, who shook his head.

"Thank you, Mikaelson. Thank you so much. Do you know how many times she has to be compelled per day?" Damon walked over to Elena intending to compel her again.

"Stop!" Caroline demanded. "No more secrets. And no more lies. This stops here. I am so tired of everyone lying and compelling and keeping secrets." Shaking her head, Caroline was trying not lose her temper altogether. "I have to get to English class before I fail out, for the second term."

"Caroline, I think you're overreacting," Damon snapped.

"I'M overreacting?" Caroline yelled at him. "I'M freakin' overreacting. How about You, Damon? YOU'RE full of lies, too. Do you know who I spoke to in my travels? Your dead girlfriend, Katerina. Yeah. Girlfriend. Who looks just like Elena."

"What?" Elena said, staring at Damon.

Damon was too busy staring at Stefan. "You said you killed her!"

"I thought I did," Stefan defended himself, staring at his brother. "And what do you mean his girlfriend?" Stefan asked, looking at Caroline.

"Oh, that is rich," Klaus began to laugh just as Stefan turned to him and punched him in the face. "Oh, yes, that's right," Klaus growled and leapt at Stefan. They went flying dangerously close to the window colliding with Elena who had come to stand in front of the glass. Before anyone could stop him, Klaus ran into Elena and she slammed into the window. Klaus reached for her hand. And was a millimeter away.

There was a sickening crash from below and everyone came to stand by the window to stare at Elena's body lying on the lawn. "Oh, God," Klaus moaned, staring down at Elena's body just as he fell to the floor moaning. "Oh, bloody hell," Klaus snarled.

"Two down. Two to go," Damon muttered before leaping out the window to kneel beside his girlfriend's or ex-girlfriend's body.

Everyone's concentration was split between Elena's body on the ground and Klaus on the floor as his eyes began to glow yellow and he snarled. "Another one," Marcel groaned.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Rebekah snapped at him.

"What's happening to Nik?" Kol called out and everyone ignored him except for Mikael.

"He's becoming a werewolf," Mikael informed Kol. "Don't worry. With this family's luck lately, you'll be next."

"Oh," Kol stared at his brother, cocking his head to the side. "Really? Do you have to kill someone to do that? Because there is a particularly loathsome Bio TA that I would happily kill."

"Kol!" Esther snapped, silencing her son.

"Klaus, look at me," Caroline called, taking his face between her hands. "Calm down. I know this sucks but you need to breathe. You can't shift here. You'll hurt someone you care about."

Klaus sucked in a deep breath. "I killed that girl. I killed Elena. Shit," he swore, tears filling his eyes. "It was an accident. I didn't mean to hurt her. I killed someone."

Wrapping her arms around Klaus, Caroline began to rock him. "I'm here."

"What else did Damon tell you?" Stefan asked Caroline.

"That you were turned in the eighties and that you had an earring. That Katerina was an exchange student. And that you died in a convenience store robbery." Caroline told him as Klaus got up and they walked downstairs to check on Damon, who sitting on the lawn, staring at Elena.

"He lied," Stefan told her.

"Who cares, Stef? Damon snapped, placing his hand on Elena's check. Then he got to his feet. "I'm going to go kill someone."

"No! You're not!" Stefan yelled at him as an ambulance showed.

"Watch me!" Damon snapped before striding off.

A pair of EMTs got out and one checked Elena's pulse, shaking her head. A car pulled up. Nadol and Branon got out. "Miss Mikaelson," Branon called cheerfully, looking at the window and then at Elena. "People just keep dying around you. Seems like you have the worst kind of luck."

"I had nothing to with this," Rebekah snapped before Mikael could stop her. "As for George he had it coming if someone killed him."

"Are you trying to imply that Mr. Richards is not still with the living, Miss Mikaelson?" Branon asked, his eyes gleaming. "Are you working up to a confession because that would make our job so easy?"

"Why don't you find out if any other young women went out with Mr. Richards? You might realize that I was not the only person who might have had a motive. Are you so stupid that I have to spell it out for you?" Rebekah snarled as Branon's smile faded and Nadol shifted from foot to foot.

"Miss Mikaelson, if you're trying to imply what I think you might be implying, you need to tell us everything that happened the night that Richards disappeared. If it was self-defense, then you wouldn't serve a single day behind bars." Nadol informed Rebekah, examining her face for any sign of cracking under pressure.

Smirking at the detective, Rebekah crossed her arms. "If I can think of anything I will be sure to ring you up. Until then I suggest you leave me alone." Gesturing to Elena's body as the EMTS placed her in a body bag Rebekah continued. "We just lost a friend. We have a right to grieve. Go harass someone else."

The two detectives frowned and then walked away. "Good, girl," Mikael whispered as the sound of Bonnie's crying became louder. Rebekah nodded and then went to comfort the other witch.

Caroline wondered how much more their little group could take before it cracked into little pieces. She had mixed feelings about Elena's death. They had never been friends but that didn't mean she wanted to see the girl die. Now, her boyfriend was a werewolf which meant he would not be becoming a hybrid as far as Caroline knew. This was something else she didn't know how to feel about. And then there was the missing body of George Richards. 'Where in the hell are you, George?' Caroline thought warily, watching Rebekah.

Okay, so I'm hoping that I will receive the same amount of reviews this week as last. Ironically, it seems to be that I get more reviews when I write something that freaks the readers out but it would be nice to get reviews for parts of the stories that don't freak you all out.

Thanks to everyone who has read, faved, followed and or reviewed: Klaroline-lovegames, Prithvi14, Guest, EveryonesFavoriteVampireBarbie, lavanya and ilyreid.

Now, I'm going to answer anything that was not covered in the chapter itself.

Alexis2106: Thank you for enjoying my version of Kol humor.

Guest: I do not re-write any chapters unless I made a really huge mistake. Like with His Biological Son I wrote that Rebekah was up and running around and then she was popping out of her coffin. That was a major slapping myself in the head moment. Other than that it's usually a twist that you will just have to ride out and trust me as a writer that I will not steer you in the wrong direction. And I have no idea how I could make Stefan more boring… Although I did like him more during this season which is funny because I was not a huge fan of season five of TVD.

Guest: Klaus can be an ass from time to time in this story and he says things that are cruel. However, Caroline is coming to realize that he tends to open his mouth and let any old thing come out, so she ignores a certain amount of his more outrageous comments.

Rose: Because I did not PM and explain the process through which everyone was thinking because I am the God of this story and know all and see all. Although I did not write this Caroline, Hayley and Rebekah tell each other almost everything. They just don't keep secrets from each other. So if Hayley had slept with Klaus either she or Rebekah would have blurted it to Caroline. That is, Caroline knows that the baby is not Klaus'. However, after Elijah broke up with Hayley she did not want to tell him about the baby. When he walks in and finds out that there is a baby she panics and Klaus jumps in thinking that he is being helpful. For Klaus he thinks that this is a way to show Caroline that he can make up for saying horrible things about her friend by faking being the father until Hayley finds the right time to tell Elijah. And it falls in with the theme of the story and the title which is all about nothing or at least most things are not what they seem. This causes chaos and people like Elijah and my readers get to be utterly and completely confused.

Peace,

Jessica
