UPDATE: 4/06/20:

It's become increasingly difficult to combat writer's block for this story. Part of me believes it has to do with the fact that It's been so long since I've written, the other part of me believes it's because I simply just don't remember where my younger self was trying to take this story.

Rest assured I will do my best to bring this story to a conclusion. With that being said, please forgive me but it will take more time to edit this! I have to reread my past writing to give myself a refresher on the plot of this story. Some major changes will take place, so please keep an eye out for them~

CHAPTER ONE

Sora had hoped that he would be able to relax at home after a long day of lectures. The thought of taking a sip of Hot Chocolate and a warm bath had made him feel eager, so he quickened his pace.

However when he unlocks the front door to his home, a wild Ventus (aka His older brother) had appeared in their living room. Only Kingdom Hearts knew what had set him off this time, and Sora did not feel like dealing with what might unfold.

He created a plan of escape in his mind: He would slowly close the front door and walk down the hall to one of the elevators, acting as if he were never there in the first place. It seemed like a solid plan to him and he was ready to act on it. Unfortunately for Sora, he failed to notice that his older brother had already spotted him, and before he could even close the door fully, Ventus swung it open and pulled him inside.

Throwing his hands in the air in frustration, Sora turned around to face his older brother.

"Oh my god, what?! What now?!" Sora asked,an expression of annoyance making its way onto his face.

"It's about Roxas,"

" Isn't it always? Go on.."

Oh how he wished he hadn't said that.

Ven begins to rant his frustrations concerning their youngest brother, waving his hands around with so much emotion that Sora at one point needed to dodge to avoid being punched or slapped. After releasing most of his anger, Ven begins to calm and his movements become less violent, allowing Sora to relax.

"Ven it's really not a big deal, just leave him alone already... You guys aren't on the best of terms as is and this is only going to make it worse," Sora says, his arms crossed as he leans against the frame of the doorway.

"But he needs to know that he can't keep acting like this -Don't give me that look either, I know you see it too... he's not acting like himself and I wanna know why,"

"Uhh.. do you think maybe it has to do with you a little bit?" Sora asks, pushing passed Ventus and making his way to the kitchen of their apartment.

"I'm not doing this with you too,"Ven whines, rolling his eyes at his younger brother as he follows behind him.

"Then don't start anything with him. Look, Noctis is back home with dad. they're both busy and they can't afford to keep worrying about us. We NEED to stick together Ven, and starting petty arguments with our little brother is not going to help with that." Sora says, his annoyance getting the better of him.

"Why are you so protective of him?"

"Because he's my little brother and as the older sibling... that's how I'm supposed to be. I guess you don't understand that yet though, seeing as you've picked up a new hobby of fighting with him all the time... and there was also that time you... y'know... slept with his girlfriend?"

"Sora you know-"

"It was an accident, uh huh... Nobody believes that bro, but if it helps you sleep at night.." Sora retorts before turning away from Ven to open a cabinet and pull out the hot chocolate mix. Behind him Ventus grows more irritated, furrowing his brows and tightly crossing his arms. Ven is determined to make Sora see eye to eye with him.

"That's not fair Sora, you know my circumstances and why I do what I do," Ven says, watching as Sora makes his cup of hot chocolate, often making a remark about how many packets he's used for himself and Sora responding with the usual "I like it really chocolaty," Once his cup of heaven is made, he returns to the subject at hand.

"Of course I do, but you should also know that you need to take better control of those circumstances, especially around our little brother." he says as he grabs his hot chocolate from the counter, turning to give Ven the most cynical look he can muster up before leaning against the counter and taking a sip.

Ven is about to respond when he hears the front door to their apartment open up, he immediately bites his tongue and turns his attention to the door.

"Roxas?! Is that you?" he calls out, looking directly at Sora as he does, causing the latter to look away

"Yeah! It's me," Their youngest brother calls out from their living room.

"Welcome home oh dear brother of mine, don't go anywhere. I want to talk to you about something" He turns to Sora and narrows his eyes before walking out of their kitchen and to their living room. Sora punches his brother's shoulder before giving him a stern look and following him.

By the time they get to the living room however, their youngest brother is curled up in a ball and fast asleep on the couch.

'He definitely gets that from Noct,' Sora thinks to himself, chuckling at the thought. Their eldest brother, like Roxas, could sleep anywhere and through anything. Sora was always jealous of them for that, having to suffer through Ven's rants 24/7 wasn't exactly how he would have liked to spend his time.

"Looks like you're gonna have to talk with him later then bro. Lil Rox seems to have had a pretty long day,"

"Oh don't worry. I will," Ven says as he's about to leave the living room, turning to Sora and smirking at him.

Suddenly Sora didn't want his Hot Chocolate anymore...

A few hours later, Sora is attempting to break up a fight between Ventus and Roxas. He had hoped that Ven wouldn't provoke their youngest brother when he woke up, but it was almost as if Ventus could sense when Roxas had awoken, immediately bombarding him with a series of remarks that were beyond uncalled for.

" What the hell is your problem Ven?!"Roxas asks, growing slightly more irritated by the minute. He was listening to music and writing some ideas down when Ventus had practically kicked the door to his room down and started an argument. He was more than confused with where this had come from, having woken up from his nap in the living room and going straight to his room to work on his projects. Ventus and himself had not crossed paths the entire time that he had been home, so for him to start an argument out of nowhere left Roxas feeling targeted.

"My problem right now, is you. Who the hell do you think you are? coming home when you feel like it, staying at people's houses without telling us, disobeying every word I say?! Huh? got an answer?" Ven asked, his voice is an octave higher than it normally was. He gives Roxas a stern, yet expectant look as he stands in front of him with his arms crossed.

"Since when has any of that mattered? You haven't said anything about it before. Why now? Something crawl up your ass oh mighty big brother of mine?" Roxas asks, slamming his pencil down and pushing himself up from his chair. Looking directly in his older brother's eyes with defiance in his own. If he thought he wasn't going to fight back, he was slightly mistaken.

"Don't talk to me like that Rox… and it's mattered since I decided to take you off of dad's hands so he didn't have to deal with your bratty ass behavior."

"Sorry I'm such a burden for you Ven, but I never asked you to take me in. You made that decision yourself."

'"You're right, and it was the worst decision I could have ever made. Y'know, once upon a time the Roxas I knew wasn't such a rebellious ass-hole. What happened to you? It's like you're not even Roxas anymore,"

"How the hell would you even know who I am or how I act huh? up until now, you haven't even tried to understand me." Roxas states, stepping closer to his older brother as if to dare him to try anything else.

" Get out of my face"

"Nahhh I wanna get a good look at you. Is this what Jealousy looks like? Wow.. it really is true, Jealousy is ugly," Roxas says, a defiant smirk on his face.

In that moment, Ventus loses control and pushes his younger brother to the ground before leaning over him and throwing punches. From his lip, to his gut, Roxas feels the pain of each punch take his breath away momentarily. He tries to muster up his own strength to block them, but his older brother is too strong for him, and so his efforts are in vain. It's not until Sora intervenes and pulls Ventus off of him, that Roxas is able to catch his breath.

"VEN WHAT THE FUCK MAN, CALM DOWN," Sora yells, using all of his strength to hold their older brother from attacking Roxas again. Sora takes a look at Roxas, who is slowly pulling himself up from the floor, wiping the blood from his lip and trying to fix his hair.

"Rox.."

"Save it Sora… I'm done." Roxas says, exhaustion evident in his voice. He pulls out a small duffle bag from his closet and begins packing essentials. The last thing he packs is his favorite necklace, before turning to face Sora.

"I'm staying at Demyx's place… I've dealt with his mood swings for way too long, and you really haven't done anything but try to get me to "understand" what it's like for him… but Sora… did you even think about what it's like for me?" He says, knowing very well that he isn't planning to stay with Demyx.

"Rox, you know I always try to protect you… come on bro, we're family! don't leave."

"Let him go Sora," Ventus says, no longer struggling in Sora's arms but now completely calm and glaring daggers at their youngest brother.

Sora pleads with his eyes, tears starting to form in his eyes, but Roxas merely just nods his head and walks out of the room.

"ROXAS!" Sora let's go of Ventus and reaches out to grab Roxas' arm, but his youngest brother is already out of reach.

Roxas leaves their apartment, and makes his way to the elevator. Tears swelling in his eyes, by the time he makes it inside the elevator he collapses to the ground and let the tears fall.

"Come on Roxas… pull it together. You're on your own now" he says to himself, wiping his face with the sleeve of his shirt and lifting himself up from the ground. When the elevator doors open in front of him, he makes his way down to the apartment complexes front door and pushes it open. The warm, salty air brushes passed his face. He closes his eyes and allows himself to feel the warm air embrace him, before he steps out of the building and makes his way down the street.
