A Murkrow perched atop the highest branch of a tree, preening its feathers and shielding the morning sun from its eyes with its hat-like plumage. It watched a Kadabra hover down a worn path far below, legs criss-crossed underneath it. Her foxlike head was covered with short yellow fur over taught skin. A long mustache hung from her canine snout and a red five-pointed star was tattooed on her forehead. Her limbs and torso bore golden carapace armor, and a fat lizard's tail curled around her body like an engorged snake. She wore a dozen belts around the appendage, all bearing various pouches and silverware on metal hooks.
Kadabra paused beneath the crow's tree, thick tail twitching to a silent tune. The kitsune reached her three-fingered hand into her bags and retrieved a spoon, an empty vial, an apple, a pen, a pair of reading glasses, and a notepad. The spoon hovered over to the tree, wedged itself between a segment of the bark, and peeled the outer layer off into the bottle. Meanwhile the apple rose up next to Kadabra's face and slowly split into a swarm of bite size slices, one of which broke off from the main group and floated into the humanoid's mouth. She chewed the snack, watching the reading glasses position themself on her face, her spoon return to its hook, and the vial levitated to eye level.
She swallowed the bite and began to dictate; the pen annotated her words on the paper. "Kadabra's Log Day 8 - The corruption in area three is irregular. There are traces of ground and steel aura present in the plant matter, a phenomenon that has not been observed in the past."
The pale shrubs around Kadabra winced and retreated into their burrows, while a barely audible scream echoed out of the tunnels. Kadabra blinked, twitching her large pointed ears.
"It is not currently understood how this cross contamination may have occurred. Further investigation is required."
A second slice of apple floated into Kadabra's mouth as she grabbed the sample out of the air, and returned the vial to her belt. As she reached for her glasses, the ground around the tree started to rise like the top of a giant bubble. Kadabra's eyes bulged and shot into the air. Not a second later, the ground opened up like a mouth, and vomited. Giant globs of green acid flew every which way. Wherever the ooze splattered, a purple miasma rose out of an unfortunate digesting object.
As the chaos cooled, Kadabra spotted Golett lying in the mud, caked in a thick layer of mucus mixed with pounds of dirt, next to an equally dirty Honedge and its sheath.
