Chapter 11
Marie had materialised on the edge of Gallifrey's communication range, bouncing access via Pazithi Gallifreya and a Time Station currently on course for Polarfrey, though this she had found for him the Matrix recording of his brother's trial.
Harry now stood inside an observation chamber within Marie observing the trial. It had been presided over by the only three members of the High Council. The 'small council'.
Gothaparduskerialldrapolatkh was the only Time Lord he recognised, the other two Time Lords who stood either side of him seemed...Harry wasn't sure.
He knew enough about the High Council, but was far better versed in its past members and its formation during the time of Rassilon.
Harry stood, observing the War Lord, a humanoid who it seemed had orchestrated the 'war games' into which his brother had become involved. The second individual Harry most certainly recognised.
His brother, some time ago had raged about this Time Lord; Magnus who from what little Harry knew of him had been a great engineer, though one who bore him little regard, unlike Koschei and Ushas whom he had interacted with very well, Magnus had been prone to fits and outbursts.
Harry did recall that the Rani (though she'd been Ushas then) had warned him one day that Magnus' behaviour was of an unbalanced Time Lord, one who had already rejuvenated himself; regenerating before even finishing the Academy.
It was highly unusual for Time Lords and Time Ladies to regenerate at the Academy, Magnus' personality seemed to have suffered for it. Usually only extreme circumstances required it at all, the Kithriarch of Magnus' house should have counselled against it.
Now witnessing what he had done; sharing TARDIS technology, albeit limited TARDIS technology with a race that wasn't time-active nor were time-sensitive was a great crime. His ability with TARDIS technology however was intriguing. Harry hoped and made a note to Marie to investigate; analysis of this technology could be enlightening. Perhaps not for himself but for the engineers of Gallifrey development of TARDIS technology often came from unlikely sources. The Patrexes were often found to be dreaming up new methods and new designs for TARDISes.
"That is..." Harry trailed off as he witnessed sentence passed on Magnus and the War Lord and their home planet. "Marie" Harry called out. "Make a note of their home planet." Harry wondered, in fact he knew, because Marie had none of the limits of any other TARDISes that he could go back and witness a time loop being enforced on a planet. So very few times in Gallifrey's history had time loops been placed, especially on a planet. Harry wondered if this was a punishment for Magnus as much as it was for the War Lord.
Now the Matrix data logs shifted to his brother's trial.
Harry knew, before the trial began what his brother would be charged with. Though it seemed of note that his trial was only being overseen once more by the small council, still overseen by Gothaparduskerialldrapolatkh. Aside from being a Chancellor Harry wondered why the over other members of the High Council had been chosen to lead the small council for his brother and Magnus' trials.
Usually the trial of a Time Lord, even a renegade would have an Inquisitor. Especially so given these two Time Lords and the interference by one with Gallifreyan temporal technology in a society and the other...well, his brother.
Harry already knew much of what his brother had done when he had met him and his travelling companions.
It was curious to see his brother's impressions of the Daleks, after having met the Corsair's associate Zeg these Daleks Harry witnessed in the Matrix projection seemed inferior to the individual he had associated with at Bonjaxx's bar.
Harry frowned to himself as he paused the Matrix projection. He was not sure he would have argued as his brother had done so. Time Lord policy existed for a reason, they could not use their great powers to significantly alter other civilisations' paths.
Rassilon, Omega, Apeiron, Pandak, Eutenoyar and The Other along with many others of Ancient Gallifrey learnt from this. Time Lords and Gallifreyans alike could be perceived as gods or worse by utilising their powers on lesser civilisations.
Harry understood, he had even done so himself; fighting that dragon, assisting those who fought against it. Harry had thought he had good reasons to interfere when he had been present; witness to the destruction.
Or was that just what his brother did also? Harry wondered to himself as he resumed the Matrix projection.
"Exile," Harry whispered to himself. It was a curious and old punishment for a Time Lord to be confined to one time zone, one planet. His brother's memories would have memory blocks implemented by the High Council to prevent him from leaving Earth by utilising his TARDIS, Harry suspected that certain circuits in his TARDIS would also be altered to prevent escape from the time period selected.
The twentieth century on Earth must be a significant point in Earth's timeline for the small council to have selected it.
As the projection shifted and paused as it appeared his brother was translocated to a regeneration chamber, it seemed there was an additional Matrix file that Marie had located; hidden.
It showed his brother and a figure hidden in darkness within a zero room.
This Matrix recording was affording much less quality than the official recording of his brother's trial, suggesting a far more clandestine nature of what was being offered to his brother. Especially as sentence had been passed on him.
An offer had been made reinforcing the clandestine nature of the meeting. An offer, a bargain, an option made by the Celestial Intervention Agency.
It was not Narvin, the figure's voice and height which could have been manipulated although Harry doubted Narvin was the sort of individual to concern himself in that way, the manner of the individual did not seem to match Narvin from what Harry could tell.
It was unsurprising that his brother had readily accepted the CIA's offer. A choice between forced regeneration and remaining in his current body was a simple and understandable choice to be made. Especially as his next body was to be chosen, seemingly at random by the High Council.
It was something Harry knew, when the time came to regenerate that he wished to have some if not more than most control over. He knew that Eutenoyar and Pandak had written on the subject of regeneration and considered at length the indiscriminate nature of the renewal process. Harry knew that some, in fact many Time Lords considered them and others like him to be vain and even resisting forces beyond those of even Time Lords to shift the maelstrom of regenerative forces. When they took over a Time Lord's body there was little control, only change.
But, Harry decided it was something he did not need to consider, he hoped something he would not need to consider for a long time yet.
Stepping out of the chamber he made his way to the control room.
"Have you readied the coordinates Marie?" Harry asked as he moved around the console.
"Yes Harry, to witness a time loop implementation would be outside the realms of most TARDISes," she reported with what Harry thought was a hint of satisfaction.
"But not you?" Harry wondered as he dematerialised Marie.
"No," she said with a tone markedly more positive than usual.
-/
It was one of the more awesome displays of power that the Time Lords could display, time looping a whole planet; encased within a forcefield to ensure nothing could escape. The planet, its name, its people, everything would be quickly forgotten by the peoples of the universe.
Even the Time Lords would quickly forget, this act and the events concerning it would be consigned to the Matrix, only his brother's trial would remain, the exact events leading to the calling of the trial too would be expunged from the record.
His brother's status as a renegade far more notable in his history than a planet was.
Returning his attention to the console Harry paused in thought, thinking on TARDISes. From the data presented in the Matrix recordings it stated that Magnus had created several of his SIDRATs; TARDIS-like machines that could be remotely operated.
He was not an engineer, but he knew enough to know that even with the amount of time passed between when his brother and the other renegades part of the Deca had departed Gallifrey the collection of resources to create that many TARDISes was massive.
Harry wondered why this had not been investigated and why it had not been brought up in Magnus' trial.
Considering and thinking back to what he had witnessed, the trial seemed more concerned with the humans used in the War Lord's 'games' rather than the technology utilised to move them from their home planet of Earth to the War Lords' planet.
Moving around the console Harry set the coordinates for Gallifrey. Sensing Marie's unease he explained he wished to investigate the trial further.
"You can materialise at the House of Lungbarrow, I feel there at least you will be forever welcome and protected." Harry said as she dematerialised.
-/
Harry Potter walked calmly through the halls and corridors of the Capitol towards a department even he with his great knowledge of the Capitol had to check the location of.
The Department of Administrative Records was not a department he had ever thought to have cause to need to approach. His study had been located in the texts and timeline of the relative past, Gallifrey's ancient times and the influences of those past times on the present along with other civilisations.
But his brother's recent trial, his interception by the CIA and Magnus' TARDIS construction were all things that would have been recorded in multiple databases, he had already witnessed the Matrix recordings. But there would be more detailed information located for different departments of the Capitol.
There was a single Time Lady working within the Department of Administrative Records, one Eltiannachrisanik.
She seemed surprised that anyone had found their way down to her department, she was even more surprised at his request.
He asked for any information of note concerning Magnus and information concerning his recent trial.
"I will have to check Harry Potter, that you have clearance for this information," she looked at him.
Harry nodded. "Of course Eltiannachrisanik," he responded. "I of course respect the security of Gallifrey," he paused and looked at her. "However any trial of a Time Lord should not be restricted knowledge."
"Magnus was a renegade," she responded with some finality.
Harry nodded, wordlessly acquiescing to her argument.
-/
Later in his chambers Harry looked over the information he had been provided by Eltiannachrisanik at the Department of Administrative Records.
The information was only marginally more enlightening than what he had learned from the Matrix recording.
Magnus' trial had been expedited by a Cardinal within the High Council, there were no reasons given. Harry could not discern from the data he had if this unknown Cardinal had their hand in his brother's trial.
However given that the CIA had approached his brother following its conclusion it seemed unlikely.
Harry wondered if the Cardinal had expedited Magnus' trial for political reasons, recalling what Narvin had said of the High Council.
Harry had always held the High Council in high esteem, even following their declaration of his brother and his peers as renegades.
Relaxing back into his chair he thought for several moments why he was so bent on investigating Magnus' trial. It was quite obvious that he was guilty, the evidence was weighted against him. Sharing Gallifreyan technology with the lesser species, one that had not even achieved a rudimentary understanding of time travel, unlike the Third Zoners. Magnus had simply provided it to them to aid their expansionist and military pursuits.
It was the speed of the trial of both his brother, Magnus and the aliens that perhaps surprised him the most and that made him curious.
There had been no appointment of an Inquisitor, there was only the small council present. That was odd. To time loop a planet and to subject a Time Lord, even a renegade to exile and forced regeneration, these were significant and weighty decisions to be made with only three Time Lords present.
Leaning back in his chair he allowed his body to relax and his mind to drift as he thought on a great manner of things.
Later, in fact much later Harry realised from the light from the morning was shining through the high windows of his chambers that he had spent a long time in a trance, thinking on the information he had analysed of late. It was different, now to be on Gallifrey, allowing his mind to wander, within his chambers.
There was one thing that he recalled as he thought over his memories; something his father had told him and his brother. 'If something is to be hidden, hide it with something else, something bigger, everyone will look at that and not at what is being hidden'.
"So what was being hidden by my brother's exile and Magnus' time looping?" Harry said to himself as he stood up.
Then he forced himself to stop, and wondered if he was now trying to see conspiracies where none existed. Trying to find a pattern in the noise.
It was what had become of Rassilon in the dying days of his time as Lord President. It was why there were so many stories of his death, so many secret societies on Gallifrey dedicated to him. So many artefacts of Rassilon and so few of the other founders of modern Gallifrey. Rassilon fought for his future, in part by seeing threats to Gallifrey and removing them, in some cases before they were a problem. Some stories told of a mad Gallifreyan ranting into the vortex about what he foresaw, or of a great leader, protecting his home. But all admitted he had succumbed, as all must, to the law of the universe; entropy.
-/
Harry decided not to pursue these thoughts further, or at least that was what he thought he had decided until he was walking through the Capitol, past the statues of Gallifrey's founders.
He had intended to walk out of the Capitol and return to the House of Lungbarrow, but instead he turned away; towards the service lifts for the workshops in the bowels of the Capitol.
It was here that Glospin had met his accident and death, from what he understood from Innocet it had been a simple case of incompetence on Glospin's part.
Harry somewhat missed the conversations he had with Innocet. Through his new psychic discoveries he would rather like to talk with her once more. According to Quences she was in Arcadia.
The lift juddered to a halt at the workshops, roughly ending Harry's thoughts.
As the doors opened and Harry stepped out there was a smell, a smell he always enjoyed in libraries and had forgotten it was also present here. A smell of history, of time passed, of time lived. It was also a smell and a location he had forgotten, until he was stood here, looking at the entrance to the workshops. He had not visited here when Glospin was killed, rather this was a location on Gallifrey his father had brought him and his brother. It must have been in the deep past when he was but a Time Tot, because he couldn't remember much of this space.
"Thought I heard the doors," said someone within the workshops. "Come on which regulators? Is it the helmic regulators or the harmonic regulators?"
"Neither I'm afraid," Harry said stepping into the workshops.
"Lord...?" He was sat looking at an older style monitor and seemed surprised that Harry had walked in.
"Harry Potter," Harry provided.
There was a pause and a realisation on the man's face. "Of the House of Lungbarrow, Glospin's cousin," he said in sudden realisation.
Harry nodded. "I was not close with my cousin, from what I heard it was a mistake of his with the central core of TARDIS he was supposed to be servicing."
"Too right it was, nasty business," he turned from his chair to give Harry his full attention. "You're a history specialist, aren't ya?" He asked. "Fabian," he said by way of introduction.
"I was curious about SIDRATs," Harry began.
Fabian looked at him curiously. "From that quick trial the High Council did?"
Harry nodded. "I thought they might have been moved down here."
He hopped off his chair and gestured to a door. "Outside your interests Harry Potter? Too new I would've thought."
"My brother was involved in it, I thought I would look into it," Harry explained as he followed him through the door, again the corridor was thick with the smell of history and stray chronons.
Ahead of him Fabian laughed. "We know your brother, he stole an old Type 40, chameleon circuit, damaged navigation unit, malfunctioning fast return switch, out of them all he chose the one of with the most faults. Andro fixed the food machine a few spans back, only thing that was working perfectly."
Harry laughed at this information and imparted to Fabian that he had seen his brother recently, that the Type 40 was functioning quite well.
"That's fantastic, those old Type 40s had real intuitive telepathic circuits," he pushed open another door.
Harry fancied they'd walked far out of the Capitol, in the opposite direction of the Capitol archives. Not that he'd ever been into or through this part of the Capitol.
"Storage, that's all the High Council told us," Fabian said as he pushed a lever in the room they were in.
Looking around it was classic greens of the old Panopticon, this storage area displayed fully the age of the Capitol. Harry couldn't help but smile. "The architecture is wonderful."
"Glad you like it Harry Potter." Fabian grinned.
Before him in a line were line of 12 black rectangular cuboid boxes, they all had what he presumed was a door that slid out from their interior dimensions. The most notable thing though as Harry reached out with his senses is that it didn't feel like he was standing in a room with 12 TARDISes.
"You're smart Harry Potter," Harry looked to Fabian. "You've noticed, about these."
Harry nodded. "Even without power there should be...something."
"The bloke who created them was smart, just not as smart as our temporal engineers." Fabian gestured towards the first box. "Power's drained away, interior dimensions have crushed to the outer shell."
Harry looked inside, within was odd. "It's not any TARDIS layout I've seen, even the Time Scaphes used the hexagonal layout."
Fabian nodded. "Here we've got one hooked into a TARDIS cradle to study, you can take a look around one. It won't demat, or time travel, but the dimensions are functional."
it was one sitting on the other side of the room, marked by the large ancient cradle that it was placed against, Harry remarked on the age.
"Couldn't risk anything of new construction, the old ones have more tolerances, like your brother's Type 40, those things will hang around till the end of the universe," he commented and then added. "If you get a good one."
Harry looked around, inside it still didn't feel like a TARDIS, although he had not been within enough to form an opinion. But he knew as a Time Lord, who had completed his time at the Academy, he could trust his senses in terms of TARDISes, and this felt...odd, somewhat wrong and just... "It's odd."
"They're similar to an old design of TARDIS used way back, those did have a console, like a secondary control room one, simple." Fabian was explaining. "Back before Sabjatrik and Rungar, that's the only reference we found on these, they drowned their mother in one."
Harry was stunned silent for a moment, but from the revelation and information. "Fascinating, if this was the history I could have learnt I think I would have been more interested in ancient vehicles," Harry praised.
Fabian was stood at a panel. "These operate what controls there are," he indicated as he operated the controls.
There was a whirring as the door closed and Fabian turned to face him. "Why're you really interested Harry Potter? In these?"
"Why have you closed the door Fabian?" Harry asked curiously, though not concerned.
Fabian shrugged. "Thought you might appreciate it, maybe worried the High Council's spying...I dunno. That's what those in the Scendles Chapter are always going on about."
Harry shook his head and explained everything to Fabian, about Magnus and the the time looped planet. Harry decided to trust the Time Lord engineer before him because he seemed genuinely concerned and interested with these SIDRATs and it was an insight that he had thus far not researched.
"Makes sense why they're all stuffed down here. And you've got an advanced TARDIS," Fabian correctly assumed. "if you witnessed a time loop?"
Harry didn't say anything to confirm his assumption.
"Some secrets," Fabian grinned. "Gotcha. Dunno what else I can say, these crafts' history's pretty much done if the planet they were built on's in a time loop, nothing'll get through those."
Harry nodded. "No. I'm not sure if Magnus built these on their planet."
Fabian looked to him. "The power source was probably Gallifreyan, wasn't linked to the Eye of Harmony or fuelled by a temporal or dimensional rift."
"Odd. It's not my field, temporal mechanics," Harry admitted. "I just found it odd, that the High Council would hide something like this, and so quickly pass judgement in Magnus' trial."
"He'd have been great as an engineer, recreating these things, even with the limitations." Fabian praised.
"Do you think the High Council is monitoring down here?" Harry asked.
Fabian shook his head as he operated the door. "Nah, just wanted to show you how it all works, only me and Andro know down here. Thought your cousin would be a good addition. Live and learn. We didn't even need to regenerate, some energy burns, nothing else, temporal grace circuits kicked in, saved us," he explained as they exited the SIDRAT.
Harry nodded looking around the SIDRATs. "I would appreciate if you could keep me informed of anything you discover Fabian."
"Ya think there's something going on with these? Or Magnus and the High Council?" Fabian asked.
Harry shook his head. "Perhaps. The political machinations of the High Council is not something I wish to concern myself with Fabian."
"Harry Potter, on that we agree," Fabian said with a grin to him.
-/
Harry Potter looked out from Mount Cadon and wished Savar was around, he was off, visiting some associates in Arcadia. He wanted to discuss his musings concerning Magnus and the High Council.
He did consider that Savar might tell him to leave the High Council be. Leave them to their machinations involving Magnus.
The High Council's actions in this affair was troubling for him.
Multiple times throughout Gallifrey's history it was the High Council acting improperly that lead to dark events.
History informed the Gallifreyan way of life, their life, their times were of and for history. Both future and past. The present was a mere hearts beat.
Breathing in the cool night's air he decided he would do what he specialised in. History.
Readying the constructs in his mind he disappeared with the briefest noise of displaced air.
Harry steadied himself on a side wall of the Capitol. On Gallifrey he found the tele-psychic transference easier. Or perhaps he simply found the surroundings familiar and therefore that made it easier to transport himself with his psychic abilities alone. But he still found in draining, both mentally and physically.
Breathing a few calming breaths he began to walk slowly to the Panopticon Archives.
Few discoveries on Gallifrey were entirely born out of creativity alone. Especially in the temporal mechanics, while it was possible that Magnus developed the SIDRATs independently, he more than likely adapted a design, perhaps like the one Fabian mentioned that Sabjatrik and Rungar.
Magnus had to have studied something, likely several texts to begin his inspiration.
There was also the question of a power source.
Especially one to create a TARDIS-like experience for the user.
Time travel could be achieved by multiple means and power sources, however to create a TARDIS-like experience he only knew of a few power sources that had the requisite requirements for such a state.
The Eye of Harmony provided most of Gallifrey's TARDIS travel and almost all other systems on Gallifrey.
TARDISes could also utilise the chronon run-off from rifts in time and space.
Taranium was the next likely source of power for temporal experiments. It still existed on Pazithi Gallifreya as well as other locations. Harry knew Rassilon had used it to create the Time Scoop for his games in the Death Zone. The only other power source Harry could think of was Kontron crystals, which existed within the vortex. Which would suggest that Magnus would have stolen or had access to a TARDIS before he began constructing his SIDRATs. But there was no mention of a TARDIS in his trial and if he had one, even within a time loop he could use it to escape.
Walking through the Archives he made his way to a database access point. It was simple enough to search, based on his own musings and then cross reference the texts with Magnus, while his trial may have been secret Harry doubted the High Council would direct further attention towards him by attempting to remove any related information.
Aside from his brother Harry guessed that no one should even know of what happened to Magnus, or his brother.
Disappointingly most of the texts were just what he was expecting, incredibly in depth temporal mechanics texts concerning TARDISes and temporal vehicles. It was several positions above Time Scaphes.
There was one however which did catch his attention, it was in the middle of several what looked liked tedious texts on vortex streams and time field mechanics. It was a history text on threats to Gallifrey, one Harry knew of.
The text, Harry recalled was as large as it was heavy, published as a huge volume he'd used his abilities to help him move it. It told of threats to Gallifrey of the past and possible future that were 'witnessed' by the Pythia and her followers. It also mentioned in detail of the Great Old Ones, the beings that had existed before the universe. Although he couldn't recall much beyond this, he had only briefly consulted it during his initial studies.
If Magnus had involved any of the Great Old Ones or a threat had been made to Gallifrey then the High Council's involvement made sense.
Walking along the corridors he came to the shelf where the book was stored, and found something he didn't expect to find waiting for him there.
The Chancellory Guard and what looked like a shrunken model of a body wearing robes of the Scendeles Chapter, Harry furrowed his brow and wondered why someone would do such a thing.
"My Lord Harry Potter," said the Castellan.
"Castellan" Harry paused as he tried to recall the Time Lord's name. "Spandrell." Harry said as the Time Lord's name came to him by way of a memory of his brother.
"Are you looking for something Lord Harry Potter?" Castellan Sprandrell asked walking around to block the view of the body.
"A text in this location of the Archives," Harry paused. "Part of my research, I will leave you to your work Castellan," Harry turned to leave.
"Lord Harry Potter," Castellan Spandrell started.
Harry turned back to face the Time Lord in charge of the Chanellory Guard. "Yes Castellan?"
"What text were you seeking?" He asked curiously.
Harry saw no reason to tell a mis-truth, however, "A text concerning the Old Ones and Rassilon's researches into them." Harry decided not to mention anything else the text might contain, in this location there were several texts concerning the Old Ones and Rassilon's researches.
Castellan Spandrell nodded. "Thank you Lord Harry Potter."
Harry nodded and walked calmly away.
Harry found himself walking away from the Archives towards one of the Celestial Intervention Agency's offices.
On the way there a Time Lord joined him, keeping pace with him. "They were investigating your brother's brother."
Harry turned to look at the Time Lord. "Narvin. How did you know I was in the Archives?"
Narvin chuckled a dark laugh. "We were investigating the death there."
"So it was a body?" Harry asked in a shocked tone.
"Of a Time Lord, yes," Narvin nodded.
"Koschei did that?" Harry asked.
"You jumped to the conclusion very quickly Harry Potter," Narvin gestured that they take a corridor that lead away from the central areas of the Capitol.
"You mentioned my brother's brother, Koschei is the only one, and my brother was always a friend and wary of him."
"You did good work with Kartz and Reimer," Narvin proclaimed changing the subject.
"Even if we got caught?" Harry asked, not attempting to change the subject back to its original topic.
"No. Your data was most intriguing. Including the information concerning the Third Zoners. There's been little information that's been able to be gathered concerning them. We've tasked a operative of the CIA to investigate further. There are concerns that Dastari's work may be financed by a larger player in Galactic Politics," Narvin explained.
Harry nodded.
Narvin looked to him curious.
Harry looked back to Narvin and considered the Time Lord. "You expect me to ask which player in Galactic Politics it is?"
Narvin chuckled. "Yes."
"Does it matter? Your operative will protect the interests of Gallifrey and intervene where necessary," Harry explained his reasoning.
Narvin laughed. "I forget you're not your brother."
"Who is now an operative of the CIA's?" Harry queried.
His question made Narvin stumbled. "You are well informed Harry Potter, I was curious concerning you and the Corsair. But if you know of..." he trailed off thinking to himself. "What did you think of the High Council's actions?"
Harry wondered if he was asking about the trial, the time loop or Magnus' SIDRATs.
"Perhaps I should narrow their actions down?" Narvin asked.
"Perhaps," Harry mused. "My brother would have expected a trial."
"Indeed. You found the speed of Magnus' concerning though?" Narvin asked him.
Harry nodded.
"As did some within the CIA Harry Potter. Magnus' SIDRATs could have been exploited, Magnus himself might have been useful, inspired individuals always are," Narvin was wondering to himself.
"Why would Magnus and Koschei both be interested in the Old Ones and ancient threats to Gallifrey?" Harry countered.
"That's what you were looking for when you met the Castellan?" Narvin asked curiously, perhaps surprised.
Harry nodded. "It was the one text Magnus consulted that was not associated with TARDISes," he explained, deciding if not Savar then at least Narvin was concerned with the protection of Gallifrey's interests.
"Interesting. If Castellan Spandrell hasn't secreted the text away there should be a copy in the Time Vaults. Anything concerning Rassilon is hidden away there or in his other hiding spots," Narvin explained. "I will attempt to get you a copy."
"And what of Koschei if he has murdered a Time Lord...?" Harry trailed off. There were few crimes that called for vaporisation. Usually only if a Time Lord threatened a member of the High Council or Lord President with death and carried it out, ending all regenerations was the sentence carried out.
"Not my department. But an operative has been sent, to warn your brother," Narvin explained.
"My brother? Koschei's gone to Earth?" Harry asked surprised.
Narvin nodded. "Sol 3, indeed."
Harry frowned. "Why?"
"Why is anyone attracted to that insignificant planet? Who knows Harry Potter. Your brother has an unnatural attraction to that planet. Maybe his exile will cure it of him, I doubt it though," Narvin muttered the last part of the sentence to himself.
Harry didn't wish to defend Earth, he had hardly been there enough to form an opinion. He had stronger opinions of Hyspero or the Eye of Orion than Earth.
"I will await contact from you Narvin concerning the text, unless you have any other instructions?" Harry asked as they rounded a corner.
Narvin shook his head and looked around. "Nothing more for now Harry Potter."
As Narvin looked back down the corridor Harry took the chance to mentally prepare his body and disappeared.
-/
The fire was burning, warming the hut against the night's chill. He could have returned to his chambers or to the House of Lungbarrow. But he enjoyed being here, outside, being able to see and feel Gallifrey's night sky.
Closing his eyes he allowed his psychic abilities to come to the fore, on Gallifrey he felt much more able to construct energy matrixes in his mind. As he had done on Earth and learned to do more so on Hyspero.
Unencumbered by the chronon leakages and Matrix Wraiths that drifted around the Capitol Harry could allow his mind and his abilities free reign.
It was morning and the fire a dying light when he felt someone approaching.
Harry opened the door to the hut to find Narvin standing outside. "Your Kithriarch informed me this was where you would be located."
Harry stepped aside and gestured him in.
"How quaint. You share with your brother a liking for the archaic Harry Potter," Narvin commented looking around the hut.
"I have an appreciation for history Narvin, this place has been here for longer than any Time Lord in the Capitol, it is our history," Harry countered.
"Of course," Narvin looked to him. "From the CIA archives, a copy of the text Magnus and Koschei sought."
It appeared very heavy but was wrapped a material that formed a container for it. "What's this material Narvin?" Harry asked as he took the bag with the book within.
"One part superstring taffeta mixed with Flutterwing silk or something like that, my fellow Patrexes think it might prove a useful substance." Narvin explained.
Harry nodded placing the book down on the table inside the hut. "Did you discover anything within the tome?"
"It is far too long for someone such as myself to discover Harry Potter," he looked to Harry. "More your field of expertise."
"Indeed, thank you Narvin," Harry looked to the CIA agent.
Narvin looked like he was about to say or perhaps ask something but instead just nodded. Then he paused on the threshold of the hut's entrance for the briefest of moments. "Good day Harry Potter."
"Narvin," Harry said by way of farewell.
-/
Harry was pleased that he was about to transfer himself so easily to the House of Lungbarrow. The process of moving himself from the hut to the House seemed simpler than from the Capitol, with less drain of his mental and physical resources.
Marie was stood within the gardens.
Once inside her dimensions he placed the book off to one side. "Marie, scan the book," he asked as he went over to the console dematerialising her and setting coordinates for Sol 3 in the Mutter's Spiral.
Earth.

A/N:
This chapter basically covers The War Games.
Another really delayed chapter, the chapters of this story are...really dense (my own fault I know). They're challenging to write and take me forever to do so (and the muse strikes in fits and bursts).
Following some feedback I've moved some things around in my plans so Harry will encounter a bit more magic sooner rather than later, though not immediately within the next few chapters. But sooner than I had planned originally.
Thanks for reading.
