Prompt: Take something you love (movie, book, video game, etc) and introduce it to us using Skip Beat! Anything goes.

This was done a while ago so I decided it was time to post it for the rest of y'all.

Kyoko woke with the rain hitting her face. She pushed herself to her feet, mud coating her front and water soaking her back. Wind buffeted her as she looked around.

Where am I?

She was surrounded by trees. They shook and cried as the wind tore at their limbs. A sudden flash of lightning momentarily illuminated the area showing her a path. Kyoko stumbled down this in the hopes of finding civilization.

I don't even remember how I got here. Is there a way out? There. I can see an opening. The trees are lessening.

She broke through the forest and emerged out onto a patch of land jutting up across the sea. Mouth open and numb, Kyoko walked to the edge.

The sea had taken to the air. Water mixed with wind as they twirled together in a magnificent cyclone of death. She could never have envisioned seeing a cyclone this big. Miles away, she could feel the pull of it tugging her clothes, inviting her to join its dance.

I should move. Find shelter… it's not coming toward me. It's heading for the city!

Homes. Life. Towering cities. They stood right in the path of the hurricane.

Kyoko took a step back, Then another. She was too transfixed by the potential of destruction.

Something cracked.

Kyoko turned, then screamed as a boat hurtled through the trees toward her.

Woah!

Kyoko opened her eyes.

The storm was gone. She was back in the locker room. Kanae and Chiori were chatting as they finished putting away their things.

"Well sorry, but I didn't have room in my locker. Ugh, the president really should expand these things."

"There's only three of us. What's the matter with taking a second locker?"

"It's against my moral ethics. I always hated the girls that stole locker room from others because they couldn't keep all their stuff in one space."

"Sounds like you are one of those girls."

"Shut up!"

Kyoko's own face stared at her from the mirror hanging on the inside of her locker. There was no windswept look. No wetness or twigs in her air. The only remnant of her dream was the surprise she blinked away.

That felt so insane. Like it was real. I didn't doze off or anything. So weird.

She spotted something at the bottom of her locker. A device she'd recently acquired for a new role.

Now, how does this thing work?

Kyoko fumbled with the clunky device, turning the lens toward her. She gave an awkward smile and clicked what she hoped was the correct button. A flash of light momentarily blinded her followed by a whirling of clicks. From a long rectangular slot on the bottom of the device, a glossy square sheet came out.

Kyoko tugged the picture free, frowning at the black image it showed.

"I think I broke it."

This declaration caught the attention of both her Love Me coworkers. Kanae shut her locker, leaning over Kyoko's shoulder to examine the picture.

"You didn't break it, it takes a second for the image to form," said Kanae, "That's part of the appeal of a Polaroid, I think. See, you can see the picture already."

She was right. The longer they watched, the more the image bled into existence showing her with an awkward smile. Kyoko giggled.

"This is fun. I can see why people like it."

"Your next role is of a photographer, right?" said Chiori. "I heard those cameras are expensive."

"They are, but the president loaned this one to me. All I have to pay for is the refills, though those are expensive too." Kyoko's smile increased, ushering Chiori closer. "Here! Let's all take a picture."

Ignoring the hemming and hawing of her best friends, Kyoko yanked them all together, holding up peace signs as they grinned at the camera. One flash later, she held another blank image slowly forming into a captured moment. Kyoko carefully waved the picture, drying the ink.

"See, aren't we cute?" said Kyoko, holding up the now perfect image. The frame was slightly to the right, cutting off half of Kanae's head and catching the corner of their Love Me locker room.

"You need to get better at aiming that thing," said Kanae.

"Aww, Moko-san, are you upset?" said Chiori, her smile widening to a mocking grin. "We can take another one if you want to?"

"Yes! let's do it," said Kyoko.

In response, Kanae flung her jacket over her shoulder and stalked away. "You two can have fun with your new toy. I have to be on set in an hour."

"Okay! Bye!"

Kyoko waved happily before turning back to the two images in her hands. One selfie and one group selfie. Small smudge marks from her fingers caught her eye. She frowned at these.

"These pictures are pretty delicate, aren't they?" said Kyoko, holding them up. "I think I need to get a photobook to hold them. Want to come with me?"

"Sure," said Chiori, "I've got time."

"Awesome, just give me a moment. I need to give Sawara-san something."

Tucking the camera carefully into her bag, she held the two photos delicately between three fingers as the exited the Love Me locker room. She smiled and greeted those she passed, people recognizing her even without the Love Me uniform. Behind her smile, she held a measure of foreboding.

What was up with that dream? Or highly realistic daydream, whatever it was. I mean, I know I have an active imagination but it felt so real. Intense. I can still feel water soaking my socks. So glad it wasn't though.

She was almost at her destination when a flash of blue caught her attention. Her eyes widened in glee as the blue landed on a potted plant's leaf.

Oh, that butterfly has such an unusually bright pair of wings. So wonderful, almost like a fairy's. Ah! This is exactly the type of shot Hana-chan would take. I should take a picture.

Carefully placing the photos on a side table, Kyoko crept closer and raised the camera. With a satisfactory click, the butterfly flew off, frightened by the flash. Kyoko smiled, watching as the new photo came into existence.

Wow. I can't wait to show Moko-san this photo. It's beautiful.

Loud voices came from the next corridor.

Not normally one to get involved in other people's business, Kyoko grabbed the other photos with the intent to leave the scene. But she stopped when she recognized the second voice.

"Look, there's no need to be so hasty. You should just put that away and—"

"Don't tell me what to do! I'm so sick of playing second fiddle. To—everything! If you weren't here it would have worked out. Everything—"

"Think this through. You don't want to do this you—"

Kyoko poked her head around the corner.

A man stood with a gun pointed straight at Tsuruga Ren. A gun. A real-life gun. Kyoko froze, mouth falling open.

Then Tsuruga saw her. His face blanched.

"What? Is there someone there?"

The man, shaken and rattled, began turning toward Kyoko.

It all happened too fast. Kyoko yelled. Ren lurched forward. The man turned back to Ren and the gun went off.

NO!

Kyoko flung out her hand and the world… Stopped. Suspended in a nearly frozen state; The man's muscles rippling from the recoil, the camera and its pieces shattering on the ground, blood splattering out from the gunshot Ren had taken to the stomach.

Kyoko trembled. Her hand shook from the weight of some unseen force. The longer she held it, the more her body ached. She took that weight and… twisted it. Pulled as hard as she could to will reality to turn back. To rewind.

And it did.

Kyoko was back in the locker room.

"…but I didn't have room in my locker. Ugh, the president really should expand these things."

"There's only three of us. What's the matter with taking a second locker?"

"It's against my moral ethics. I always hated—"

Kyoko grabbed the camera at the bottom of her locker.

It's here. And the image count... It's back to how it was. Everything is. This is too surreal. Did I really go back in time? If I did, then I can still save Ren? I'll do it. I just need to retrace all my steps.

Kyoko clumsily raised the camera, smiling as she took a selfie then pulled out the black image

"I think I broke it."

Just like before, the comment caught her friend's attention.

"You didn't break it, it takes a second for the image to form," said Kanae, "That's part of the appeal of a Polaroid, I think. See, you can see the picture already."

Kyoko took the image, not really seeing as her heart hammered in her ears.

"Um, Kyoko-san, are you okay?" said Chiori.

Kyoko swallowed, forcing a smile. "Yeah, um. Just wondering if we could take a group selfie."

Kyoko kept her composure as she numbly went through the motions. They took a group selfie. Kanae left. Kyoko invited Chiori to go get a photo book with her. Everything was as before. She tried not a run as she hurried down the halls.

Okay, you've got this. Just like before. Retrace your steps. It was around here you saw—ah! There it is. The butterfly.

A Blue Morpho with luminescent wings fluttered down onto the leaf. Kyoko snapped the shot, not even looking at it as she placed both the camera and pictures on a table stand. She could hear the voices, just like last time.

"You should just put that away and—"

"Don't tell me what to do! I'm so sick of playing second fiddle."

Shoot, but what should I do to save him? I can't just jump out, that would get us both killed.

She spotted something on the opposite wall. Yes! A fire alarm. She rushed toward it, hand curling around the handle.

A gunshot rang out.

Kyoko spun, flinging out a hand in desperation. Like before, the world… dimmed. Froze and whirled back. She grunted as she felt the seconds in reality retract.

"…You should just put that away and—"

"Don't tell me what to do! I'm so sick of playing second fiddle."

Kyoko licked her lips, tasting blood.

Don't worry Tsuruga-san. I'm going to save you.

Kyoko gripped the alarm with both hands and pulled.

Thanks for reading!

For those of you who are confused, this is based off the game Life is Strange. I went back and watched some gameplay of this to remember the feeling of the game and try to translate it onto the page. Hopefully, I managed to do it as well as pique your interest in the game.

Also, it was pointed out by my friends that if Kyoko had this power, she'd abuse it like crazy. Mostly to kick Sho in the shin over and over and over and over again. Can't say I'd blame her.
