Chapter 11: "Holidays and Birthdays to be Thankful For…"
I'll wait as long as it takes: (Oct 16th)
Olivia woke up the next morning and saw a happy sleeping Fitzgerald Grant by her side. He had this look of serenity and peace upon his face. She saw no worry lines on his face. She watched his chest rise and fall, as it matched her own. Olivia then placed her hand over his heart, and to her amazement, noticed it was beating in time with her own.
The first night she spent in his arms she never noticed this things. She tried to take in everything. From his unruly messy curls, to his semi-flushed cheeks that were soft to touch. If she really wanted to, she could probably sneak a peek at his impeccable chest muscles that were hidden underneath his shirt. She ran her hand up and down the fabric, hearing Fitz make sighs in his sleep.
Once her hand made contact with his skin, he would wake for sure. That she did not want. If he woke up, she did not think he would let her leave his side. To ease her temptation, and desire for him, she ran her fingers through his curls. He turned his head in the bed to face her, smiling in his sleep. Fitz's hair was soft, and if there was any hint of hair products, they were long gone. His curls fell between her fingers, and she swore he was about to start "purring" if she kept this up.
As she continued to run her hands in his hair, Olivia looked down at his face. She tried to commit to memory everything. From his crooked smile, to the dimples that were hidden while he was sleeping. What amazed her was that he showed no signs that he was nearing fifty-one. She knew his birthday was about 6 weeks away, right after Thanksgiving.
She did not know him then, but being shot at your birthday, definitely changes a man. She wanted to do something special for him, to prove to him how much she truly cared, but what. Olivia decided to talk to Cyrus, Karen and Jerry later for help on ideas. She figured he did not want anything fancy. But she needed "top secret" intel, and hoped everyone help her out.
Olivia placed her head on her arm, and watched him a few minutes more. She looked down at his lips and wondered if she should kiss him. Would he wake up, the moment her lips touched his own. God they looked incredibly soft, and could only imagine what it would be finally like to kiss him, taste him, and drown in the warmth of his mouth.
She took a deep breath, attempting to talk herself out of it. "Oh come on you chicken just do it, Fitz will never know," she told herself. Olivia took a deep breath, and began to lower her head till she was just above his face. She looked down at him and saw him smiling.
Her lips were millimeters from his when she heard, "Are you going to kiss me or not," and a smile spreading across Fitz's face. "You best do it before I roll you over and kiss you first."
"Ah, oh,…Fitz!" She poked him. "Oh my god, I thought you were sleeping, you freaking Butt-head!" Fitz opened his eyes, now staring right at her. He rolled her over, after hearing her name calling. "Hey!"
"You called me a butt-head," Fitz said, ready to start tickling her.
"And your point it what Mr. President. You scared the living shit out of me. Didn't your Momma teach you not to scare people, especially ladies," Olivia told him with a southern accent, hoping to derail his thinking.
"Well didn't your Daddy teach you not try to kiss strange men, after only a second sleep-over? I don't want you to think I'm easy," Fitz was throwing right back at her, leaning over her, watching her failed attempts to get out of his arms.
Olivia stopped and stared at him. "And what makes you think I was going to kiss you. I hardly know you. We are friends," she said sarcastically.
"Friends huh," Fitz threw back. "Oh Livy we are good friends, don't you think."
Olivia made the silliest face she could think of, watching Fitz above her hold back a laugh. She decided to get pay back and began tickling his sides, causing him to roll off her laughing. She had no idea where this play-fight-flirting was going, but it was fun. She climbed on top of him, watching Fitz's face, stare up at her. She took his hands, and forcibly placed them above his head.
"You were saying Mr. President," now biting her lip. "I think I now have the upper advantage."
She was leaning above him, watching his pupils dilate. He was incredibly turned on and if someone didn't do something, he was going to need a cold shower. He could smell her hair, leftover perfume from the day before, and a touch of sugar he figured from baking. She smelled good enough to devour and he would, if she'd let him. If she didn't move, or do something, he'd pounce on her.
Being away from her for a month was extremely difficult. He missed everything, but nothing compared to sleeping and waking up in her arms. Smelling her all night long, and now seeing her beautiful melted chocolate eyes, looking down on him. All these little things that were her, were now magnified how much he desired her.
"Say my name," he told her again.
"Why," she leaned down and whispered in his ear. She lifted her head, and went to his other ear, "do you want that, Mr. President," she dropped her voice, letting her skin make contact with his cheek. She blew in his ear, causing Fitz to shiver beneath her.
"Do you have any idea how much of a tease you are being?" Fitz told her.
"Yes Sir I do. You should not have scared me. We could have had our first kiss, if you didn't." Olivia said to him, seductively.
"I'll remember that next time," Fitz told her. He softened his gaze, "I missed you SO much do you know that Livy. I don't want to spend that much time not seeing you again. God I missed you. I missed THIS," he smirked. She pulled away looking deep into his eyes. Loosing herself deep within him, she not only saw how much he wanted her, but how much he needed her in every way possible.
Olivia let her hands up from his, and she rolled off of him. Fitz rolled to face her touching his hand to her cheek. Immediately, she nuzzled into his palm, sighing contentedly. She touched his face. "Oh Fitz I missed you too."
"Livy," he whimpered, and melted into the pillow.
"What," she whispered. She felt his one free arm, snake underneath her, and pull her to his chest. He kept his other hand, sweetly placed on her cheek. She smiled into his touch. "Is everything okay?"
"You…just…You're just so…I don't want …" Fitz was at a loss for words at the moment. He had gotten the best night's sleep he's had since the night he accidently spent in her apartment, and he just didn't know how to tell her, how she makes him feel.
"I am not going anywhere you know. You have Emmalynn and I -always Fitz."
Fitz raised his eyes. "But where not together Livy," he groaned, wanting to roll over on his back, but she felt it, and stopped him.
"And what does that mean," she asked him in a tone that she meant business. "Not together?"
Fitz made his "you've got to be kidding me" face. "Liv, are we dating?"
"No."
"Are you my girlfriend," Fitz grumbled out.
"Not yet," she raised her voice, touching his face, hoping to calm him down. "But I would like to be when the time is right."
"Urgh…." Fitz mumbled. He rolled over and finally out of bed, startling Olivia. It was just before 7:00 and she knew Emmalynn would be up soon.
She sat up in the bed, and crossed her arms. "Are you mad at me?"
"I'm just frustrated. I'm available. I can be with anyone I want," Fitz was getting more upset.
"I know you're available Fitz. I saw your divorce papers. What's wrong? I am not telling you NO forever. I am just saying 'no' right now. The timing is off right now. I think you know that," Olivia softened her voice and eyes, hoping to ease Fitz's anxiety. She wanted to say yes, but he was announcing his bid for re-election and she wanted him to win again.
"Forget it," he scowled at her and turned to the window. He wanted to be with her so badly. Being with her last night, yesterday at Emmalynn's birthday only heightened those feelings. He didn't want to wait for them to date. She is a beautiful woman, and how did he know that someone else wouldn't come along and take her away.
"I am not going to forget it Fitzgerald," Fitz side-eyed her, hearing his full name.
"It doesn't matter," Fitz told her defeated. "I asked you already before I left and you said no. You don't want me the same way."
Hearing his confession her heart broke. Olivia then pleaded with him to come to her. He nodded his head 'no' but she told in a voice that she was not fooling around. He made some not so pleasant noises but padded back over to the bed. She motioned for him to sit and he did. He was facing the window not looking at her, with his arms folded across his chest. His entire body was tense, and she knew it.
Olivia reached for him, and he slightly pulled away. She moved herself forward, and ran her hand across shoulders. He let out a breath and began to relax. She placed her free hand in front of him wrapping it around his stomach, and hugged him. "I do want you Fitz, more than anything. I want THIS."
Fitz finally faced her, "Then why are you saying no. I don't care if I win again. All I want is you, Emmalynn and my children Liv. Nothing else matters but that."
She smiled, and took both his hands in her own. "Can I tell you something?"
"You can tell me anything," Fitz asked her not sure where this conversation was now heading.
"I wanted to tell you this before you left but I stopped myself. I didn't want you to think I was crazy," Olivia whimpered. He raised his eyebrows, wondering what she was trying to tell him.
Fitz raised his eyebrows. "Olivia what are you trying to tell me? What does this have to do with us dating openly and privately?"
Olivia squeezed his hands, and willed herself to continue. "This has to do with everything. But if you do you can't tell this to anyone okay, especially Emmalynn."
"Tell me." Fitz told her.
"But you have to promise first. Are you in?"
"Yes I'm in. Now tell me Livy."
"I saw him when I was in the hospital."
"Who," Fitz asked not sure who she was talking about. "I know Cyrus was there to see you. You saw Quinn and Huck. Abby and Stephen came by," he said letting his voice trail off.
"I saw Emmalynn's father," she said to him trying to look down.
"What? How?" Fitz asked now sure what to think now. "I thought he was killed in Afghanistan."
"He was," she whimpered. "Oh god you think I'm crazy. I should go check on Emmalynn." She tried to move away from him but he wouldn't let her go.
"No you don't. How did you see him?"
She turned to face him and had tears in her eyes. "Oh Lord, I don't believe I am actually going to tell you this. You're going to think I am some whack job."
"No I won't. There is nothing you can't tell me or that I would be upset at you for. I don't want there to be any secrets between us Liv. There can't be if this is going to work. My last marriage was that way, and I refuse to be in another relationship like that."
Olivia bit her lip and told him how her fever had gotten over 104 degrees the first night she was in the hospital. She had gotten delirious and the medication had not been able to bring her temperature down very much. The nurses were in the room, cooling her off.
"Why did you tell me you had gotten that sick? I would have came to you," Fitz was so distraught at the possibly he could have lost her. She could see Fitz turn pale, and realized that no one had mentioned that to him. She reached up and touched his face to assure him that she was fine.
"When I was like this I saw Christopher. He came to me in some strange dream, vision or something?"
"What did he say?" Fitz asked. "He had heard of people that had passed on, coming back to see loved ones in their time of need, but he didn't believe it until now."
"He told me that he loved me and that I needed to move on with my life. He would always love me and Emmalynn, and wanted us to be truly happy. Christopher doesn't want Emmalynn and I to be alone. He wants me to find love again, to let myself be loved again," Olivia softly spoke, attempting to hold her tears at bay.
"That's good Livy. He wants you to be happy." He saw her make a funny face like she was keeping something from him. "There's more?" She nodded her head. He lifted her chin so she could look into his eyes.
"Christopher said he saw you with me and how at peace I looked. He sees the happiness in my eyes when I look at you, knowing that you could make me happy. He told me to let him go and…," she stopped talking.
"And," he said looking into her eyes.
"And, oh gosh I can't do this." She moved away from him finally.
"Livy, don't shut me out. Please tell me, what did he say?" Fitz got up and walked to meet her by the window.
She turned to face him with tears in her eyes. "And that you…," she stopped again and went to move away from him. Fitz placed his hands on her upper arms, stopping her. "I can't."
"Yes you can. What did he say? Me, what," Fitz questioned. This was freaking him out and whatever Christopher said, obviously hit a nerve with Olivia.
"That even though we've haven't known each other that long, that you were my match in every way and that I am yours. I should let you in, let myself be happy; to be loved. He knows you can give me and Emmy everything. All I have to do is let you. The dream was so real." She now started to cry and fell to the floor.
She curled up in a ball, in the sunlight. Fitz had never seen her look this way. Yes she was upset, but the sun's rays where lighting her entire body so beautifully. It was lighting her like an angel, who came down from the heavens to save him, in his time of need. Now it was time for him to return the favor.
"Oh Livy," he told her kneeling before her. He tried to get her to look at him but she wouldn't. She curled up more, unable to keep the tears at bay. Olivia wanted to move on, and to know that Christopher wanted her to meant everything. But could she?
"I could almost touch him Fitz. I felt him touch my face, and before I could place my hand on his, he was pulling away. He told me to let you love me. That I am worthy of you, and that you are a good man. He said loved me one more time, and then he was gone. I started to call for him, but he didn't come back. I almost could touch him and then he was gone." Now she was really crying.
Fitz picked her up and sat her in his lap in the recliner by the window. "Shhh, I'm here and I am not going anywhere. Not now. Not ever okay. I am ALL IN this with you Olivia, no matter the cost."
"This is why I am afraid to go out with you Fitz. Christopher was my world and then he died, leaving me and Emmy behind. He left us all alone. If I jump into a relationship with you, too soon, and it's doesn't work, I won't survive. Neither will Emmy. God she adores you. I can't put my little girl though that kind of heartache."
Fitz understood that she had to put her daughter first. Emmalynn was a little girl, and children get attached to people early on especially if they like you. He breathed in deeply and said, "I'll tell you what, I won't ask about us dating, until YOU tell me you are ready. Is that okay?"
Olivia sat up and looked at him. "Really, but I thought you wanted us together now."
"I am not going to lie, I do want you, but not if you are not ready. You and I jumping into a relationship behind closed doors, and especially publically will hurt everyone. I don't care if I win the Presidency again, but I do care about you. Just know I'll be waiting for you, till your ready."
"You sure, you want me that much," Olivia asked him, feeling her pulse race, heart flutter, and melt.
Fitz turned her in his lap. He draped he legs behind him, so she could straddle his torso and place her legs around his waist. Under different circumstances this would turn him on in a heartbeat, but right now Olivia needed his reassurance, and support. He placed both hands on her face, cradling her wet cheeks in his palms.
"Yes really. I'll wait as long you want me to. Take all the time you need Olivia. My heart isn't going anywhere. It already belongs to you."
She placed both hands on his face. "You promise," she asked softly, breaking Fitz's heart.
"Oh God, I promise Livy. You have me, always. No one can hold a candle to you in my life now. You ruined me for any other woman," Fitz said with a devilish grin.
"You're just saying that, because I am in your lap," she finally teased him back, giving him a blushing smile.
"There you are," Fitz said softly, rubbing his thumbs on her lips. "And for the record I am not just saying it. There is NO ONE else for me but you. I don't want anyone else but you. So I'll wait as long as you need. But know this, once you say yes, be prepared for me to 'woo', romance, and sweep you off your feet. I will spoil, and you'll never want to let me go." Fitz told her, half sarcastically, but serious.
"Good I don't have plans on it." She grabbed his shirt and pulled him so he was inches away from her face. "You are MINE mister."
"Say that again," wrapping his arms around her back, feeling turned on.
"You are MY President - Fitz," she lowered her voice, feeling his response. She looked in his eyes, and lost herself.
"Livy," he groaned. She bashfully titled her head.
Olivia then nuzzled herself in his arms. He started to rock her back and forth in the recliner. He picked her up, and carried her over to the bed. Fitz placed her down, covered her back up, placing himself by her side. She snuggled her head on his breastbone and placed her hands on his back.
"You just better not date anyone else, while you're waiting for me Mister," Olivia said, with a smile.
"Well if Kerry Washington becomes available, I may have to reconsider. She is really hot," Fitz teased. Olivia hit his back, causing him to say "Ouch."
"Not funny," Olivia whined. "I hate you."
Fitz took her face and lifted it to meet his. He gazed deeply in her eyes, trying to convey three words, he knew she was not ready to hear. He placed his forehead to hers, and left it there. Fitz closed his eyes, "I hate you too."
Fitz began to rub her back, and held onto her until Emmalynn came into the room. She climbed into bed, next to her mom and Fitz. She snuggled up to them both and they all watched cartoons, until Karen and Jerry came in. Everyone then went down for breakfast.

"Welcome to Enchancia"… Happy Halloween 2011
In the weeks leading up to Halloween, since her talk with Fitz, Olivia felt much better. They knew they wanted to be together as a couple, but right now the timing was off. Her heart missed Christopher, and she still needed some time and space to heal. Now that she had told Fitz about her "dream," it eased her aching heart and would allow her to heal.
Since that conversation, Fitz and her talked every day, multiple times. She had only been to see him once at the White House, because she was busy with work, Emmalynn's Preschool and getting things for Halloween. Fitz asked her and Emmalynn were going as for Halloween, and she told him "Queen Miranda and Princess Sophia."
She heard him chuckle on the phone. To say she was pleased when he invited her and Emmalynn to the White House for Trick or Treating was an understatement. Since Mellie was no longer there, Fitz decided this year each office in the West Wing, and building would be decorated. Members of the staff, and volunteers brought in extra things from home to "spook" their offices out for Halloween.
By the time Halloween night arrived, everyone from OPA was at her apartment getting ready. Abby was dressed as "Little Red Riding Hood," with a basket and all. Quinn decided to go as "Dorothy" from the Wizard of Oz. Stephen dyed his hair black, and got black dress robes, and went as "Severus Snape" from Harry Potter; with his accent it was perfect.
Harrison decided to get a purple pimp suit, with a top hat to match and feather boa, and cane. He fit the part so well that Olivia teased him, asking where his ladies were. He eyed her, Quinn and Abby, causing everyone in the room to laugh.
Huck didn't want to go trick or treating anywhere but Emmalynn begged him so he gave in. Huck got a black suit, sunglasses, and shaved. He walked into Olivia's apartment, and everyone stopped and stared at him.
"So what are you?" Stephen asked.
"I work for M.I.B. You know the top secret agency in the government, no one knows about," Huck said seriously.
"M.I.B," Abby said back.
"Men In Black Ab's," Olivia teased her. "You know Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones."
"I get it Liv. I did see the movie with you. You had a thing for Will Smith at the time. But that's all changed now because of DA-POTUS." Abby said back. Huck rolled his eyes.
Emmalynn then came out of her room, dressed in her purple dress, shoes, and crown. Her hair was curled like 'Sophia." Olivia then went back and changed, and she came out in a big pink ball gown, with a crown like Queen Miranda, Sophia's mother. Everyone then gathered their things, and took Emmalynn around Olivia's apartment building for trick or treating.
After they finished, the few places and neighbors that new them, they dropped their candy off, and got ready to head to the White House. As they walked outside, Olivia saw a few agents from Fitz's detail. They asked her to ride with them, and that once they were almost there, different transportation would be arranged.
"But my friends," she asked.
Mitch, who she then recognized said, "Don't worry Ma'am. The President has it handled."
Olivia said okay, got into the car. About 10 minutes into the ride, the car stopped, and the door opened. Olivia could see the White House in the distance and wondered what was going on. "Mitch," she inquired.
"Look over there Ma'am." Olivia then looked and saw two white horses pulling a covered carriage. She saw people walking with it, dressed up in costumes. Mitch put out his arm for her, and once it stopped, she looked up at the driver, and smiled. "There's no way."
The driver then walked over to the door and opened it for her and Emmalynn. She then noticed more of the "helpers" and when she looked to the door out stepped "King Roland. He was dressed in a Royal Uniform, with a blue velvet coat, lightly ruffled shirt, and thankfully black pants.
"Fitz," she whispered.
"It's King Roland, and I am here looking for my Queen and Princess Sophia," Fitz said flashing a sexy grin.
Emmalynn looked at him, "Fitz…I mean your majesty," with a bow.
Fitz winked and bowed. She saw some members of the press taking pictures and but they kept playing this part. "People will talk your Majesty."
"Don't worry. I am King Roland tonight and you are the Queen and my Princess." Fitz then whispered, "Emmalynn did say I was your Prince."
Olivia giggled and took Fitz outstretched hand. He bent down and kissed it and Emmalynn's. He helped them into the carriage, and they road to the White House. Fitz held her hand, and Emmalynn sat in Fitz's lap.
"I thought you were not wooing me till I agreed to date you." Olivia said to him.
Fitz smiled. "Yes but I didn't say anything about me being overly romantic now, did I. You are going to get the full Fitzgerald Grant experience tonight."
"Am I now," Olivia leaned on his arm, as the carriage entered the grounds.
"You are." Fitz said kissing her forehead. He didn't tell her anything else, and they held hands till the carriage stopped.
"Best almost-boyfriend ever," Olivia teased him.
"Best Almost girl-friend ever," Fitz said back, as the door opened. He stepped out in front of the White House, and Karen and Jerry were there to meet them.
"Mumma look," Emmy told her. Olivia looked and saw Fitz's next surprise. Karen was dressed up in a gold gown, with matching tiara, looking exactly like Princess Amber, Sophia's sister on the show. Jerry was dressed up like Prince James, Sophia's brother wearing a green velvet jacket, pants, and a blue bow tie.
"My word," Olivia said, not believing Fitz did all this. Princess Amber and Prince James bowed to their mother, for the evening. They kissed Olivia's cheek and took Emmalynn by the hand, leading her into the White House. She then looked and saw all her friends waiting there for them.
Fitz put his arm out for her, and began to lead her inside, behind the kids. "This is only pretend Livy, just wait till we're for real." Olivia saw everyone watching Fitz, glide her inside. He kissed her hand, and held in there against his lips, letting their eyes get lost in each other.
"You know these pictures will be in the paper Your Majesty," Olivia said as they walked.
"I don't care," Fitz said. "We're just pretending."
"Are we," Olivia questioned, watching him wink at her. "You are too much."
"I know," Fitz said as they made it to the West Wing. Each office was spooked out and gave out candy. Every member of the staff that had a child, brought him or her to go trick or treating. The staff that did not came to help out. By the time they reached Fitz's secretaries, Emmalynn squealed.
Each had dressed up like each one of the fairies from the show. Emmalynn hugged every one of them as they gave her candy. Olivia was holding back her tears. But when Karen and Jerry took her hands, and lead her into the Oval, she lost it.
"Fitz, oh my god!"
"Mumma is the thrown room," Emma screamed. Fitz had decorated the Oval Office just like the thrown room in the show. Everything was there. His desk he covered, with "Royal" things from the show.
"How did you," Olivia asked barely feeling Fitz come behind her, wrapping her in his arms.
"Let's just say I got some help from 'Baileywick', right Tom."
"Yes Sir," Tom said, dressed up in Baileywick's costume from the show. Tom blushed and hoped he wouldn't be in the papers the next day.
"You're incredible you know." Olivia told him. "Thank you."
"You're welcome, My Queen," Fitz whispered in her ear, making her shiver. She felt Fitz's lips on her neck and her legs practically give out beneath her. She let out a breath, not believing how incredible this man was, and how could anyone not want him.
Olivia blushed and once Fitz let her go, she and Emmalynn walked around the Thrown Room taking everything in. After they left, Emmalynn did some more trick or treating around the West Wing Offices. Along the way they saw James with Ella, who were both dressed up. Cyrus though was their dressed normally.
"Cy, where's your costume?" Fitz asked.
"Papa Cy, you not dressed up," Emmalynn then asked.
Cy knelt down, "Honey Papa Cy is an old man. I don't do Halloween anymore."
"That's otay, you can be Oscar the grouch. Fitz says you crabby all the time," Emmalynn said with a straight face.
Fitz, the kids, and Olivia broke out laughing. James did also. "Does he now pumpkin," Cy asked.
"Yes Papa," Emmalynn said, giving him a kiss. "I wuv you."
That melted Cy's heart. "I love you too Emmalynn." He then looked at Fitz. "Have a good evening Your Majesty. Remember you lose your Royal Powers tomorrow morning."
"Yes Sir," Fitz said, as they began to walk away. The kids took Emmalynn up the residence so Fitz could take Olivia back to the Rose Garden. It was a little cold, so Fitz grabbed her velvet cloak and placed around her shoulders. They walked hand in hand in the Rose Garden. She leaned on his arm, and eventually laced her arm around his back, with him doing the same.
After a few minutes they stopped and she realized this was where he picked her up and her shoes went flying. She gave him that look, but he was too quick and up she went in the air again. Her shoes stayed on, and he slide her back down, but stopping when their faces where inches apart.
"Fitz," she whispered. Her fingers began to play in the nape of his neck and curls.
"Livy," he said back, with so much love in his voice. "I was wondering," he stopped and put her down.
"Yes," she pondered.
"Dance with me," he blurted out. Olivia raised her eyebrows.
"What, seriously, here now. Why?" She thought he was crazy.
"Just dance with me for one minute. For one minute I do not want pretend anymore. I want to be yours. For one minute I am not the President, and you are not a single mom. For one minute, I am a man hopelessly falling for a beautiful woman, he so desperately wants to dance with," Fitz softened his voice, raising his eyes.
"Fitz," she squeaked out.
He grabbed his cell phone and played the song "At The Beginning" from the movie Anastasia. The song fitted them and as she listened to the words, she went into his arms. He moved her around the Rose Garden, with her head resting on his chest over his heart. Fitz rested his head on hers, as they danced around.
As the song ended, Olivia looked up and into his eyes. She wanted to kiss him, but smiled bashfully at him instead. "Thank you for everything. This was perfect."
He smiled at her. "You and Emmalynn are perfect. This was all for both of you. Best non- first day ever." He saw he getting on her tip toes, hoping for their first kiss.
"Not yet," he caressed her lips. "When you are my girlfriend FOR REAL, then those lips will be mine. Then I'll never be able to stop kissing you." Olivia toes curled in her shoes thing of that moment.
"So, what are you doing for Thanksgiving?" Fitz asked as they started to walk back.
"We are going to Massachusetts to see my family. We go every year. My team is coming up to. I spend Thanksgiving week up there, and sometimes longer."
"Oh, I wanted to spend it with you and Emmalynn," Fitz said with a hint of sadness in his voice.
"We'll do something when I get back okay. I know your birthday is right after."
"Yes it is. Will you be back? We're doing a small party here in the residence."
"I don't' know, but we'll see what I can do. What do you want for your birthday?" Olivia asked him as they began to walk inside.
Fitz stopped her the moment they reached the steps to go inside. He turned her around and pulled her to him. "I want you." He saw her eyes fill with tears, knowing that tonight they were not just pretending. Tonight was real for both of them.
She smiled and kissed his face. "Come on, you have a Princess that needs to get home and ready for bed." They held hands, and walked out of the Rose Garden. She said goodbye to Karen and Jerry, who were still dressed. Fitz with Tom walked them to the back of the White House, where Olivia's friends were waiting.
Fitz walked them down to the car that was taking them back. One by one, Olivia's team said goodbye to Fitz, and told Olivia they would see her tomorrow. They got into the cars, and were driven to Olivia's to get their cars. When it was just Olivia left with Emmalynn, Fitz strapped Emmy into a car seat.
He then walked Olivia around to the other side of the car and opened the door for her. He didn't want her to leave but knew she had to. She stopped before got in and got on her tippy toes, wrapping her arms around Fitz. She heard him moan, and pulled her flush against him.
"Thank you Fitz. You are my PRINCE, my fairy tale come true."
"And you are mine. I'll see you soon." Fitz said, not sure when that would be.
"Yes you will. Happy Halloween Mr. President," she said, as she kissed both his cheeks goodbye.
"Happy Halloween Olivia," he said, and helped her in the car. The driver got the okay and drove away with them in the car. Fitz walked up the steps and stood next to Tom.
"Sir, can I change now," Tom grimaced.
"Yes we all can," Fitz said walking up to the residence hoping to see Olivia and Emmalynn before Thanksgiving. But he had a full schedule and was not sure when that would be.

Things to be Thankful For…
The next four weeks went by fairly quickly for Olivia, Emmalynn, Fitz, and his kids. Olivia had only been able to make it over the residence only a couple of times because she was extremely busy. Her parents called her to make sure that her tickets were bought for Thanksgiving, and when her friends were arriving. She assured her mother everything was handled and hoped that would do till she got up there.
The day that her plane and Emmalynn's plan was leaving she made a quick stop by the Oval to see Fitz with Emmalynn. Mother and daughter walked into the West Wing, and to her surprise everyone remembered them. Emmalynn smiled, and as soon as her little girl heard Fitz's voice talking to his secretaries, from the hallway she took off.
Fitz heard her screaming "FIZ," and knelt down prepared to catch her. His three secretaries giggled, and smiled when they saw Olivia. Fitz took them inside the Oval, and spent a short time with them before she had to leave for the airport.
"Let me take you," he asked.
"You know you can't. Emmalynn and I are good. Cy is dropping us off." She told him. They were sitting on the couch, holding hands.
"But I can see what Tom can do to get me an unmarked car. No one will know it's me Liv." Fitz pleaded.
"You will do no such thing. You stay put and you'll see us when we get back," Olivia told him, straightening out his tie.
"Fine," he grumbled. Fitz was about to say something else when Cy popped in the room, ready to take Emmalynn and Olivia to the airport. Emmalynn leaped into his arms, and was happy to see James too. James insisted in coming, so Olivia could see Ella before she left.
Fitz reluctantly led them out of the Oval. "Don't worry President McDreamy I'll take care of her," Cy said sarcastically.
Fitz rolled his eyes, while his three secretaries giggled. Fitz knelt down and gave Emmalynn a huge hug. His heart about broke when he heard he say, "I'll miss you Fitz. I love you."
Olivia heard her daughter and placed her hand over her heart. His secretaries grabbed some tissues, attempting to hide their tears. Fitz told Emmalynn he loved her back, and would see her soon. He stood up and looked at Olivia. Luckily there was no press accept James and he went to give her a hug.
Fitz picked her up, causing both to sigh, feeling the closeness of the other. "Come back home to me okay."
"I live to serve the President," she lovingly said this time. Fitz gave her a funny face, and kissed her cheek. She picked up Emmalynn and Fitz gave them both a hug. Mother and daughter kissed his face at the same time, and then rubbed their noses on his cheeks.
Fitz let them go. "Call me when you make it there."
"I will." Cy and James grabbed her and Emmalynn's things and they walked away from Fitz and his secretaries.
"You're a lucky man Sir," said Lauren. "It's nice to see you happy."
"Thank you Lauren. All of you," and he then asked what he needed to do until Cyrus' got back to keep himself busy.

Thanksgiving with the Popes… November 2013
Olivia and Emmalynn were extremely busy from the time they landed in Boston, till Thanksgiving Day. She was thankful for that welcoming distraction because she was never alone with her mother so she could ask her questions about Fitz. She knew it was on her mother's mind, but her father, stopped her mother each time, telling her to let it go.
Of course Emmalynn told her grandparents about Halloween at Fitz's house and what he did for her and Olivia. Her mother was completely surprised that the Leader of the Free did all that for her daughter, and at one moment, Olivia actually caught her smiling about it.
"See Allie, the man ain't all bad," her father told her mother. Her mother rolled her eyes and continued to dote on her grandchild.
As Thanksgiving finally arrived, Olivia was so busy cooking and helping her mom, she had not had the chance to talk to Fitz. Her team arrived the day before, and were all staying in the area. By noon they were all there, helping Olivia cook. Emmalynn was running around, having the time of her life getting ready for her cousins to come over.
Abby asked her if she had talked to Fitz, but she said very little because she didn't want the nasty looks from her mom. Abby asked if she asked anything about Fitz, and she was told no. "I know it is coming Abby. I'm waiting for it. And how do I explain to my older brothers about him."
"Liv your two brothers love you and so do your sister in laws. Don't worry about it. I am sure they saw those pictures of you two from Halloween," Abby asked.
"I don't know. They hadn't said anything. You know how protective they are of me since Christopher died." Olivia whispered to her.
"Speaking of him, have you heard anything from 'them." Olivia knew that she meant HIS family.
Olivia nodded her head. "His mom wants to see Emmalynn after the holidays. There is no way it can happen beforehand. Should I do it?"
"Well honey this is not the first time Emmalynn has seen her right?"
"No. Emmalynn just thinks she is my friend, that's all." Olivia said.
"Good keep it that way just in case. Have you said anything to Fitz yet about Christopher's background," Abby asked.
"No not yet. Hell Abby we ain't even dating yet."
"Shit could have fooled me at Halloween girl. Dang he went all out of you and Emmy." Abby teased her.
"I know," Olivia was about to say something when she heard her brothers, their wives and their kids, run into the house. She got bombarded with hugs and kisses from everyone. They engaged in small talk, while the table was set. Her mother supervised everything of course, keeping a close eye on her daughter.
Dinner was uneventful and luckily for her, Emmalynn didn't bring Fitz up to much. She talked about school, things she did with Momma at work, and her friends she was making. She talked about Karen and Jerry but thankfully left out who they really were. That left Olivia free from the questions from her brothers.
Everyone helped clear the table and after dessert, everyone went home. Olivia bathed and put Emmalynn to bed, and finally relaxed in her room. She knew her mom was up and expected her to come downstairs, but she was too tired. She thought of Fitz all day and how much she missed him.
They had only been texting, because she didn't want her mom listening in on any of their conversations. She was starting to fall asleep when she saw her phone light up.
"Happy Thanksgiving," Fitz said.
"Happy Thanksgiving to you too," she said. "I saw you pardon a turkey today."
"OH yes the perks of my job," Fitz teased. They then talked how their day went and how much food they ate. Fitz, Karen and Jerry went to Cy's for dinner. His mother in law cooked with James helping. Ella of course was fussed over by everyone and Fitz told her that she missed her god-mother.
Olivia smiled. She told him about her day, and he asked if she was going to make it back for his birthday next week. She did not know. A snow storm was coming in and she would have to see. Her firm would be fine without her next week, and she could hear the disappointment in his voice.
"I miss you," Fitz groaned out.
"I know. Me too," and then he heard her yawn. "You want me to let you go."
"No but I am falling asleep on you. This bed is comfortable but you are better."
"Am I now," Fitz said, missing her more.
"Yes," she said back, with a smile in her voice. "We'll be home soon don't worry."
"I hope so. I can only take so much of Papa Cy." Fitz whined, making Olivia laugh. "Livy do you know what I am most thankful this year."
Olivia smiled, waiting for his answer. "Let's see, helping a damsel in distress on the side of road, and having her and her daughter turn your world upside down."
"Yes most definitely and you?"
"I am thankful that my car broke down because I would not have met you the way I did. I know we would have met but I am happy it was that way. It was everything." Olivia told him.
"Yes it was. I should go," Fitz said, after they chatted a few more minutes. Olivia agreed, and he told her. "I can't wait to see, hold, and touch you again."
"Oh Fitz," she breathed out. "I'll see you soon. Night."
"Night," Fitz said, hanging up the phone. He then finished getting ready for the rest of his night. He was not sure when he was going to see Olivia, but he hoped it would be soon.

Winter Storm Warning
"The National Weather Service has confirmed that a major winter storm is on its way to blanket New England. The storm is expected to drop a foot to 18 inches of snow or more to the area. Anyone expected to travel during this time is advised not to and to stay indoors. The Governors' of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine, are prepared to declare a state of emergency depending on the track of the storm. We will be tracking the storm via radar and keep the public informed."
Fitz had been following the weather report since first hearing of the major winter storm. It was the first big storm of the season, and he worried about Olivia and Emmalynn. He knew they loved the snow, but he wanted her back there with him, where they belong. He had heard from her friends, and she could not get an earlier flight out because of the weather.
He spoke to Cyrus and was on the verge of calling out The National Guard to get them and bring them home. "Sir you can't just summon the army to bring your girlfriend and her daughter home."
"She's not my girlfriend Cyrus," Fitz pointed out.
"Well then, the way you're acting Sir it could have fooled me," Cyrus told Fitz, sitting down next to him. "I thought she was supposed to be coming back soon."
"That's what I thought to, but she had some things to do up north. I hope her mom isn't grilling her on us. I know she was avoiding her. I just want her back here Cyrus. I miss her and Emmalynn so much," Fitz admitted, now getting up and looking out the window.
"Sir, need I remind you that today is your birthday," Cy said to Fitz now walking in his direction. "And that you have a country to run. Didn't Olivia call you already and wish you a happy birthday."
"Yes I know what today is Cy trust me. I was shot a year ago today. I prayed this year's birthday would be better but they way things are going I doubt it. And yes I spoke to her this morning. She did wish me a Happy Birthday," Fitz voiced his displeasure and finally with a smile because he did hear Olivia's voice this morning.
"Sir, she'll get back when she can and if you're a good boy, maybe she'll bring you back some special baked goodies. You know Olivia Pope can bake and cook up a storm," hoping to ease things. "You know you are having a small party with James, Ella, Karen, Jerry and myself tonight in the residence right."
"Yes Cy I am aware," Fitz sounded even more displeased.
"Oh for the love of God Sir, suck it up. You're the President and you can't go running around today like someone stole your girlfriend, or you dropped your ice cream cone. If Olivia finds out, she'll make you go outside and pick a switch," Cy bellowed with a straight face.
Fitz tried to hide the smirk that was emerging on his face but couldn't. "Now those would be some birthday spankings I could live with," with a devilish tone, making Cyrus role his eyes in displeasure. "You said it Cy not me."
"Yes I know. God, when she finally agrees to date you, I am never going to get you two to stop making out so work can get done around here am I Sir," he voiced putting his hands on Fitz's desk.
"I just hope she thinks I am good kisser," Fitz chuckled after it came out of his mouth.
"Oh God, you are so giving me a raise after this," and gave him his schedule. Fitz was off hoping to hear from Olivia and Emmalynn again before the evening.

Happy Birthday Fitz… December 6, 2013
By the time Fitz made it to the residence, he did not have much time to change out of his suit he wore for the day. He walked into his closet, grabbed a pair of jeans, dark plum button up shirt, and some comfortable shoes. It was his birthday, and for once he was getting a quite party in the residence.
He walked out of his closet changed, and heard a knock on his door. Karen and Jerry had come in to let him know that everyone was waiting for him in the living room. Fitz quickly tied his shoes, and left the room with his kids. They talked about the day, what was going on in school, and how many world leaders called and wished him a Happy Birthday.
In the living room he saw Cyrus, James and Baby Ella, waiting for him. Immediately he walked over to his godchild and scooped her up in his arms. She cooed and gurgled for him, and tried to reach for his one stray curl. Ella now was three months old, and was fascinated with everything.
James asked how the weather was up in New England, and last Fitz heard, they were getting hit pretty hard from the storm. It was snowing now in D.C. but they were not going to get nearly as much snow as the Northeast.
"Mr. President, Olivia was raised up there, I am sure her and Emmalynn are fine," James said to Fitz.
"James it is Fitz, and I know. But I wish she could have been here. I know she really wanted to be here today." Fitz said, grabbing a drink.
"I know she did, but you'll see her as soon as the airports clear the runways," James said, looking at his little girl, who Fitz was still cradling in his arms.
As everyone chit chatted, it got closer to dinner. The staff informed that dinner was ready, and they all went into the dining room. Cyrus did a birthday toast, along with Karen and Jerry. They commented on Fitz's achievements this past year, how grateful they are that are to have him in their lives, and how much they all love him.
Fitz was touched, and a little shocked at even Cy's admission. "You're getting soft in your old age Papa Cy."
"Yadda yadda, don't spread it around the West Wing. I have a reputation to uphold." Cyrus said to Fitz, letting out a small laugh afterwards.
Once dinner was over, they all moved to the living room again, where Fitz saw some gifts from everyone. He tried to see if anything was there from Olivia and Emmalynn and sure enough, he found some things. "How did she," Fitz asked out loud.
"She dropped them off Dad before she left, just by chance she didn't make it back in time. Olivia and Emmalynn wanted to make sure you knew they were thinking of you today and every day," Jerry told him.
Fitz walk over to the wrapping paper admired how perfectly it was wrapped. Olivia found white, silver and gold American flag wrapping paper with a bow to match. He then found Emmalynn's, laughed out loud, when he saw it was "Sophia the first."
Karen then came over to him, "I guess Emmalynn wanted to make sure you knew it was hers Dad."
Fitz smiled, and walked over to the couch. Karen went and grabbed her laptop and pulled Olivia and Emmalynn up on the screen. "Happy Birthday Fiz…" they both said to him.
"Hi," he said back, in front of everyone.
"Hi," both Emmalynn and Olivia said back at the same time.
"Fitz," Emmalynn said, "Did you get Sophia?"
"Yes sweetheart I did," making his heart melt. "It's on the table with your mom's and the others." He couldn't take his eyes off of her. This had been the first time he had seen her in almost two weeks.
He mouthed "I miss you," causing Olivia to bite her lip in embarrassment.
"Come on Dad, you two can lovie dovie later, I want to eat some cake," Jerry said. "Plus we all want to see if you can blow out 51 candles and not pass out."
"Ha ha Jerry," Fitz grumbled. "I'll show you all who's the old man," winking at Olivia on the screen. She waved him off and egged him on calling him an old timer.
"Mumma be nice to Fitz," Emmalynn told Olivia. "He's going to do his cake."
"Yes Ma'am," Olivia said to her daughter rubbing her head of curls. Just out of screen Karen went and grabbed the cake, and had it light in the other room. Everyone told Fitz to close his eyes, and eventually he complied.
He heard everyone begin to sing "Happy Birthday To You," as he assumed the cake was entering the room. Feeling Karen brush past him, and sit next to him on the couch with the cake. He could feel the heat from the candles.
"What did you guys put all 51 on there or something," he scolded everyone.
"Come on Dad, blow them out and don't forget to make a wish." Karen told her father.
"I know what I want for my birthday," Fitz said with a smile, hoping Olivia could still see him on the computer.
"Yes Sir, they can still see you," he heard Cyrus say. "Now make your wish, and blow out those candles. Some of us are up past their pumpkin time."
"Fine," Fitz said and took in a huge breath and blew out the candles. "Can I open my eyes now?"
"Yes Fitz open them," he heard Olivia say this time.
Fitz opened his eyes, and had to do a double take, when he saw that it was not Karen sitting next to him with his cake, it was Olivia, and Emmalynn attached to her side.
"Happy Birthday Handsome," Olivia said to him touching his face. His mouth dropped open looking at everyone in the room.
"Livy, how did you," he was speechless. He couldn't believe she was sitting across from him.
"She landed last night Sir. I picked her and Emmalynn up and they stayed with me, Ella and James at my house." Cy said with a smile.
"Livy. Emmy." Fitz whimpered out, looking back at them. "You're here. You're really here for my birthday."
"Wouldn't miss it, Mr. President," Olivia said. Karen knew her Dad wanted to hug and kiss them and got the cake out of Olivia's lap. Once the cake was safely out of the way, Fitz stood up, taking Olivia and Emmalynn with him, in his arms. He squeezed them both, telling them both how much he missed them.
"Best birthday surprise ever," he whispered to both Olivia and Emmalynn. Olivia felt her cheeks heat up. It constantly amazed her each time Fitz looked at her, and what it did to her body. He made her feel like she was the most beautiful woman in the world each and every time.
Emmalynn and Olivia peppered kisses all over Fitz's face, making Cy, Karen and Jerry making gross noises behind them.
"Get a room you two geez," Jerry grumbled.
"Yah got to your room Fitz and Mummy," causing Olivia to bury herself in Fitz's chest, and Fitz to blush immediately.
She then looked at her daughter and said, "Get Jerry Emmy." She ran after Jerry, attempting to give him kisses. Jerry let Emmalynn catch him, and fell to the ground.
Fitz looked down at Olivia. "Miss Pope you are one incredible woman. I am lucky to have you," he murmured half tempted to kiss her.
"Yes you are, Happy Birthday Mr. President," she said seductively, winking at him.
"Happy birthday to me, indeed," Fitz said, eager to get her alone as soon as possible. "So when do I get to unwrap you?"
"Fitzgerald," she said all flustered, knowing that this was one Presidential birthday neither one of them were going to ever forget. ;-)

Well I hoped you enjoyed this update on this story. I decided to have Fitz's birthday be on December 6th because that is when "Happy Birthday Mr. President" originally aired on ABC. Plus it worked well for this chapter, and what I had planned.
You also got to find out Emmalynn's father name, Christopher. But now I am sure you want to know "Christopher Who?" #WhoIsChristopher? For now you will have to live with just his name, and you'll find out more of him, his family in the next installment.
I also covered a lot of ground in this update. She told Fitz about her "vision" which I hope no one thought was to strange. When someone is really sick, they say things happen. Now Fitz understands her hesitation in their relationship. Don't worry I am going to get the together and when it happens, IT WILL BE DIFFERENT and BIG!
Anyway I hope we all enjoy 3.15 tonight and please leave me "seeds" and "crumbs" so I can follow you home. Happy TG Directed Scandal Thursday.
Peace, Luv and Pumpkins…Me's
