Chapter 14: A New Year Has Come…
December 31, 2011
For the last seven days, Fitz and Olivia had never been as happy and content as they were now. They not only spent amble time with each other, (when the kids allowed it) but they tried to do things together. The day after Christmas, was spent laying around. The next couple of days, Fitz gave Olivia and Emmalynn a tour of the ranch he grew up on.
He took them by the stables Emmalynn's eyes lit up when she saw the horses. She begged Olivia and Fitz to go for a ride, but at that time, Fitz had to deny her request. He promised later on in the week, he would take her out by herself, if Olivia was okay with it. Olivia said it was fine because she was a little afraid of horses.
Fitz asked her why, and one of her friends was a rider. She was in a competition, and was thrown off the horse. Her friend could have been really injured and Olivia told herself that she would not ride a horse after that but would not deprive her daughter. "I'll get you on a horse Livy," he sweetly responded, one day.
"Fitz," she touched his face. "No. If you try, you'll be on the couch, and no more sweet sugars for you."
He pulled her into his chest, "You want to make a bet on that First Girlfriend?"
She agreed and loved a challenge, especially from him. So they made a bet. If he got her on a horse, he could do whatever he wanted for the FIRST public date. She could not argue with him, and had to agree. If she won, then she got to pick where they would go and what they would do. "Fitz you're going to be campaigning for re-election. How are we going to have time for dating out in public?"
"Trust me Sweetheart, I'll make time. I may be the busiest man on the planet, but I'll clear my schedule in a heartbeat, if he means I have you ALL to myself. You just have to wait and see," Fitz kissed her nose, making her crinkle it afterwards. He grin wickedly and could not wait to pull the rug out from underneath her, so to speak.
Olivia thinking he would not get the best her, told him, "You're too much." She kissed him lightly and walked off.
"You have no idea," Fitz mumbled to himself, eager to get his plan into motion. But as he remembered these plans, he awoke December 31 to a bed without his Livy. He had gotten so used to waking up with Olivia and sometimes Emmalynn between them, he was the happiest man alive. But this time he did not see Olivia or Emmalynn. He got out of bed and placed his slippers on and gradually went to find her.
"Where are my two favorite NEW ladies," he wondered as he began a search through the house.
He checked all the kids room and to his amazement, they were all asleep. Fitz then turned and began to go down the stairs. He walked through the living room and into the kitchen, hoping to find his Livy. As he got closer, he could see Olivia at a counter, facing away from him. He tip-toed over, so he could watch her work.
As he got closer, and made it to where he could watch, hopefully without her knowing. He saw her with a rolling pin. It was made of marble, and he smiled because it used to be his mothers. He watched her reach into a package, and pull out some "dough-like" substance. She pulled it apart, and placed it on the marble cutting board, along with flour.
"Are you going to keep standing there watching me, or come over here Mr. President," he huskily asked.
Fitz grinned, "How did you know I was even here?"
"I heard you 'creak' while walking over," she side eyed him as approached her.
"Creak?"
"Yes Fitz. Your knees creak when you come down the stairs," she finally looked over to him, and winked. "I know the sound of your creaky knees anywhere now. I've been listening to them all week. But this only happens in the morning, when you first get up and walking," she smiled and went right back to work.
Fitz then walked behind her, and wrapped his arms around her waist. Before he even touched her, she responded to him. Her heart rate quickened, and breathing. She calmed herself down enough before she heard, "Is that so," he moaned in her ear. "I'll have to remember Miss First Girlfriend." He pulled her back so her backside was firmly pressed against his hips. "I missed you. You left me all alone upstairs in our bed." He started to kiss her neck, and began to run his hands up her shirt.
She leaned her head back, letting he body absorb his caresses. She was realizing the more he touched her skin, even the slightest touch, her body ached for him. She gasped. "Fitz."
"And I didn't get a wake up kiss yet either. We've been dating a week and you already forget to kiss me in the morning. You're slipping gorgeous," he began to turn her head to face him.
"Fitz," she murmured.
"For the last seven days, I've been waking up to two of the most beautiful ladies in my life. And this morning I wake up all cold and alone," he pouted, and wrapped himself around her body tighter. "So care tell me what got you out of bed and away from me this morning, hmm?"
She pulled back, and turned herself around in his arms. Olivia then moved them away from where she was working and to a clear place on the counter. Fitz knew what she wanted and he let her jump up to sit down on its surface. She opened her silk covered pajamas legs, and he stepped between them, loving whatever she had in mind.
"First," she cupped his face. "I needed to get up and check on Emmalynn. She was not in bed with us this morning and I wanted to make sure she was fine. I know she loves to cuddle with her 'Fiz,' in the morning." Hearing Olivia said "Fiz" made him sad. Emmalynn had not called him that since before her birthday, and he missed it. Olivia saw his facial features, and knew what was wrong. "I know. She's growing up."
"I know," he sadly replied.
She leaned in and kissed him then. Fitz pulled her closer, and lifted her legs behind him, in order to wrap them around his waist. "Livy," he breathed out, and felt him smile. He began to lean in to kiss her but she placed her hand up to stop him.
"Second, when I left, you were sleeping mister. And when I mean sleeping; you were snoring," she playfully added.
"World Leaders don't snore Woman," he protested.
"Ah huh. So what was that awful sound I heard then," she asked curiously.
"I was…well…," Fitz was stuck.
"Yes Mr. President," she voiced next, whispering in his ear. "What you were doing then?"
"Chopping wood," he added, in a way that should have left her no doubts.
Olivia broke out laughing. She could feel the tears come out of her eyes. When she opened them, Fitz was pouting, with his bottom lip trembling. "Oh Muffin, you'll be okay."
"Muffin," he snickered. "Seriously?" He removed his arms from her body and flexed them for her. He held the pose and asked, "Do I look like a muffin to you?"
She wrapped her arms around his neck and moved their body's so they could touch. Fitz groaned, not believing how she turns him on not only physically but emotionally. She felt his excitement in his pajama bottoms, and licked her lips. She ran her hands down his chest, and bit her lip. Just barely above a whisper she told him, "No Fitz you are not a muffin but you ARE my Stud Muffin."
"Olivia," Fitz chuckled and did his best not to laugh at her response but failed. She shrugged her shoulders, did the sweetest smile for him, and he kissed her. He began to run his hands along her body, attempting to feel anywhere she would allow him too. After a much heated make out session on the counter, he pulled away. "So tell me, what are you doing?"
"Rolling fondant."
"Fon-what," he questioned.
"It's for cakes Fitz. A lot of cake bakers use them. Didn't your mom, or the White House Pastry chefs use this," she asked.
"Probably but I didn't really pay attention," he told her with a twinkle in his eye. "So you think you can give me a fondant lesson gorgeous."
"You think you can behave and keep your hands where I tell you," she jumped off the counter and moved to where she was working. Fitz grinned wickedly and nodded. "Come here then." Fitz sauntered over and she pulled him behind her.
"Livy how am I going to learn this way," he asked.
"Trust me," she turned her head to face him. She kissed his lips, and pulled away. "You will LOVE this fondant lesson." She heard him groan behind her, and knew this was going to be fun. "Okay here we go," she began to instruct Fitz.
She placed her hands on top of Fitz's and laced her fingers through his. "Now I am control of these hands. Do you understand? You are NOT in charge right now. The kitchen is where I rule." All Fitz could do was nod his head into her neck. He loved her take-charge voice. It made her so sexy, and it was making Fitz want her in a way he's never thought possible.
"Now," she grabbed it out of the package and using Fitz's hands, they began to pull it apart like bread dough. She then pulls Fitz closer and they begin to knead the fondant like play dough, to make it smoother and easier to work with. Together their body's moved back and forth and up and down in sync. As they continued to move this way, her backside would grace against Fitz, making her smile.
"How are you handling this Sir," she grinned as they continued to work.
"Um, I like this," he stepped in closer. Fitz pressed his hips against her backside, wanting her to FEEL what she does to his body. He knew what she was after, and he was not going to tell her no. "I never knew kneading fondant was such HARD work Livy," he moaned in her ear. "I need to do this more often."
"Well if you don't work it right, you won't like the results," she leaned against his face.
"I see," he placed his hand on her shoulder and she gazed at him. "Now what's next," he asked seeing that she stopped and was now moving her hands to get the rolling pin. She explained that the fondant was pliable enough to work with, they had to roll it out, to cover the cake she made the night before.
"Now grab the rolling pin by the wooden ends and move it back and forth, vertically on the counter. By the time we are done, this layer of fondant should be about a quarter of inch thick," she explained. "You got it."
"I got it." Fitz kissed under her ear, beginning to feel her move them in a fluid motion of back and forth; or to Fitz in and out. "I like this Livy," he kissed up her ear. He heard her moan, and felt her legs get wobbly. "I love moving IN and OUT with you. I can't wait for more," he let his kisses linger longer, as she continued to work the rolling pin.
"Ah huh," she whimpered. She gradually pulled herself out of the 'rolling phase' and lifted her hands off of Fitz's. "Now watch Mister." She could feel him smiling behind her. She pulled the cake over and placed the fondant over top without Fitz's help.
"I thought I was supposed to help you. What do I do with my hands now," he protested. "I can't learn if you don't let me get my hands dirty."
She rolled her eyes, and placed her hands over his and placed both on her stomach, making Fitz closer. "Mmm, much better."
"I thought so," she shook her head. He then placed his head next to hers, and watched her begin to smooth the fondant down over the cake, making sure it was covered perfectly. Fitz began feeling left out, and began to smooth his hands over her body, as she worked the cake. He lightly graced the sides of her breasts, leading down to her hips, and over her backside.
Feeling Fitz, working his hands over her own body, her mind began to travel to their bed upstairs. He was only caressing through her clothes, but the fire he was creating in her stomach, was a feeling she's never experienced. She finally made herself ask, "Fitz what are you doing?"
"Making sure there are no cracks or mistakes in THIS beautiful body of yours. It's kind of hard to tell underneath these pajamas but so far I can feel anything," he continued to rub his hands on her body. He ran them up and down her legs, just gracing her inner thighs. The tips of his fingers made contact over her sensitive area, making her stumble.
"Fitz," she whimpered with her voice full of want. He then worked his hands up her sides and turned her around, seeing that she was finished. He then travelled his hands up the outside of her shirt, making sure to run his hands up the sides of her chest. She leaned back into the counter. "Oh God."
"How am I doing Master Baker? Do I still need more practice," he kissed underneath her ears and neck. She wiped her hands off quickly and wrapped them around his neck. Fitz then picked her up, carried her over to the couch, and laid them down. He placed himself on top of her, and once he made it back up to her face, she pulled his face down for searing kiss. "Livy," he began to move his hips to show her how much he desired her. "I want you."
"I know," she whimpered before he kissed her slowly and deliberate. He placed his tongue in her mouth sliding it against hers. He could taste a hint of buttercream icing and powered-sugar. She let out a gasp, and grabbed onto his curls. He was so unsure, how far they should or could go at this moment, so his hand travelled till it found the base of her shirt.
Olivia smiled, and lifted up for him, so he could slide his hand inside. "Are you sure," he asked. "If you don't want me to touch you, I won't."
"Touch me Fitz," she murmured. "I need you too." He lowered his mouth back to hers and immediately her tongue came out, reaching for him. "I want you Fitz; only you."
Her words sent a surge of electricity through his entire body. He shivered under her fingers as they grace his bare back under his shirt. "Oh God," he groaned, as he began to run his hand higher into her shirt. He was at the base of her breasts, ready to caress her soft skin. They had some heavy make out sessions over the last week, but nothing to this degree.
He began to run his hand higher, just ghosting her chest. She whimpered, and both press themselves fully clothed into the other. Their hips were moving in sync, and both could only imagine, if they were alone, what they could be doing. He was about to finally touch her, where she wanted him most when they heard, "Momma."
"Momma," she heard Emmalynn ask for her again.
"Right here Emmy," she answered before Emmalynn saw them. Fitz sat up quickly and placed a blanket over him and Olivia to hide his issue.
/
"Emmy's Forever Fiz.."
Miss Emmalynn Grace waltzed into the room and asked to lay down the couch with Olivia and Fitz. Olivia told her that she had to place something in the refrigerator but if Fitz was okay with it, could she lay with him.
"I want cuddles," she whined still half asleep, and climbed into Olivia's lap. Fitz's arm was placed behind them both, pulling them in closer. Fitz nuzzled is face into Olivia's hair, breathing in its aroma.
"I know Pumpkin but you are still tired. It's still kind of early. Why don't you let Fitz take you up to our room and you can lay up there in our bed. I'll be up in five minutes," Olivia asked her gently. Emmalynn was not always a morning person if she woke up too early, so Olivia had to tread lightly. "Please."
"Fitz stay too," Olivia turned from her mother to Fitz, with the biggest half sleepy pout he'd ever seen.
"How can I deny this precious face," leaning over giving her kisses. Olivia gently placed a very sleepy Emmalynn in Fitz's lap, and gave them both a kiss before getting up. Fitz held her gaze before letting her go back into the kitchen.
"Sleepy Fitz," Emmalynn yawned. Fitz grinned and brought her back upstairs, and placed her in the center of the bed him and Olivia shared for the week. Once he had Emmalynn snugged up securely, she opened her eyes and ran her hands across his face, tracing all his features. "My Fitz, and Mumma's."
Those words broke and warmed his heart. He not only belonged to Olivia but to her precious little girl. Both of them had captured his heart, and he knew he'd never be able to live without them. "Oh Emmy. Can I ask you something?"
"O-tay," she snuggled into the blankets, Sadie, and Fitz.
"How come you don't call me 'Fiz' anymore," he ran his finger down her nose, making her giggle. "I kind of miss it."
"Don't know," she admitted.
"I bet you do Silly girl," he left a big kiss on her nose, leaving it wet later. Emmalynn realized it and wiped it off.
"I big girl now," Emmalynn did her best to explain to Fitz. Because she was able to say "Fitz," Olivia's mother insisted that she use his correct name, and no longer call him "Fiz." Even though it was what she wanted more than anything. She cried but her grandmother said she was growing up, going to school and maybe she should try to say her words like a big girl.
Olivia stood at the door and listened to her baby, explain to Fitz in tears. Olivia tried to tell her mother to bud out but her mother was not the most understanding. She did not want Emmalynn talking like a baby. Olivia kept listening to her baby explain. They did not see her yet and didn't want to intrude.
After hearing her explanation, Fitz asked, "Do you think you could do me a favor?" Emmalynn nodded, starting to fall back to sleep. "When it's just me and you, can you call me 'Fiz?"
Emmalynn's eyes shot open. "You want me to."
"Yes I'd love it too much for you to stop," he kissed her nose.
"Really," Emmalynn batted her eyelashes. "But I big now."
"Yes you are Emmy but you will always be, no matter how big you get, your Momma's baby girl. It's hard for Mommies and Daddies to watch their kids grow up. We want you to stay small forever. I wish Karen and Jerry were still small," Fitz told her.
"Carrie no like boys then. They have coo-wee's," she made a funny face. "Except you. You cool," making Fitz laugh.
"Yes exactly. So can I be your FOREVER FIZ," Fitz sweetly asked Olivia's three year old. "I miss being just YOUR FIZ Emmy," he admitted. In the last two and a half months since her third birthday, and the first time she called him 'Fitz', he had missed it. As the time passed, he just knew in his heart that she was growing up. He got to watch her grow over the last four months and could not believe how much she changed. But he missed being her 'Fiz."
"But Momma," Emmalynn worried.
"I think she'll be okay with it."
"And Nana. She be mad at me," Emmalynn asked him wide eyed.
Fitz lifted her chin. "I'll fix it if she does. But for now only call me Fiz when no one is around okay. It can be our something special," Fitz raised his eyes and pouted.
"Sum-think spesh-ee," Emmalynn tried to repeat but those words for hard for her to pronounce.
"Yes Emmy 'something special," Fitz said back, really slow so she could say it again, but her eyes were getting sleepy.
"Okkies," she snuggled into his chest. Emmalynn reached up and kissed his forehead, just as tenderly and sweetly as he does to her mother. "I love you Fiz. Momma and MY Fiz."
Fitz choked out, "I love you too Emmalynn Grace." He then whispered into her ear, "I love you and your Momma so much," he pulled away, "You are my Saving Grace." He pulled her to him and cradled her in his arms. He then began to sing her "Amazing Grace," with Olivia watching in the doorway. By the time he finished the first verse, Emmalynn had fallen back to sleep. He pulled away from her and saw Olivia in the doorway finally with tears streaming down her face.
/
"Consider It Handled…Grant Style…
He kissed Emmalynn on her forehead, and tried to hurry to catch up to her. By the time he made it up to her, she was already outside. He saw her cross the yard and run down to the beach. Karen and Jerry were in the kitchen just eating breakfast and wondered what was wrong.
"I don't know," Fitz answered. "I laid Emmy back down and she heard us talking."
"Did you say something stupid Dad," Jerry asked. "I know guys do that all the time."
Fitz glared at his son, "No Jer I did not."
He started to go out the door to go after her, but Karen told him not to. He could just see her sitting on the beach sand by the water. Her body was slumped, head buried in her lap, slightly shaking. "Dad give her a little space. After I am done, I'll go and check on her okay."
"Karen, you are too young to understand what's going on," Fitz tried to tell her. "She needs me."
"Dad she needs space to process what she's feeling." Karen told her father.
"And I need to help her get through those feelings whatever they may be. You are too young Sweetie." Fitz was trying to talk her out of going but she was not having it.
"Maybe so but I do speak girl," she lifted her eyes and looked at her Dad. She finished her bowl, placed it on the sink and told Fitz, "Consider this handled Dad." Fitz grinned at his daughter and watched her go out and see Olivia. He sat down and Jerry made him some coffee. They chatted while they waited.
Karen made it to her, and before she could say anything Olivia told her, "I don't want to talk Fitz."
"I'm not my Dad," Karen told her, chuckling.
Olivia turned embarrassed. "Oh sorry honey."
"It's okay. I came out to check on you. Jerry and I saw you run by us. Are you okay," she sat down next to Olivia on the sand.
"Yes. No. I don't know," Olivia solemnly stated. "You are too young to worry about me Karen."
"No I'm not. I'm a Grant, and we worry about the people we love," she told her point blank. "Jerry and I love you Liv; very much."
"You do," Olivia turned to her wiping her tears away. "How can that be? Neither one of you have known me that long."
"We know that," Karen squeezed her hand. "You are the mom we never had. Emmy is like our annoying baby sister. I love how she messes with Jerry's MO-Joe," making Olivia laugh. "You're everything to us Liv. Jerry and I are happy you are with our Dad. I know he's the POTUS, and dating him, hell us won't be easy, but it's worth it."
"YOU are all worth it." Olivia made sure to tell him. "But it's not about that Karen. It's about…," she looked out into the ocean, watching the waves crash onto the shore. The sound calmed her, but only slightly.
"Emmy's dad," Karen finished for her.
"Yes. I know you don't quite get it, but a part of me still loves him, even though he's gone. And I know how much Emmalynn loves your father. It's just hard for me to hear her tell him that I guess. I am thrilled that she does, but I see so much of Christopher in her," Olivia tried to explain.
"That's not bad Liv," Jerry was there then. "Sorry Kar, Dad sent me out. He's pacing in circles around the kitchen island," making Olivia laugh. "If he keeps this up, we'll have to replace the flooring before we leave," which only made Olivia giggle harder.
Jerry put his arm around Olivia, pulling her in for hug. "Are you worried that Em will forget her Dad?" Jerry asked her.
Olivia nodded, beginning to cry again. Karen and Jerry were in their teens but they understood. Their grandmother Lillian, Fitz's mother passed away when they were older, and Fitz was terrified they'd forget about her and how much she adored them. "We get it Liv; both of us do," Karen said.
"How can you? You two are ONLY teenagers," Olivia made sure to point out. "Karen you're only 13 and Jerry, 15."
"Because Dad was afraid we'd forget Grandma Lilly. She died when I was 5," Karen explained. "But I still remember her. I know Emmy never really knew her Dad, but she won't forget him."
"Yah Liv," Jerry said next. "Chris is her Daddy, and he'll have that special place in Emmy's heart. I just think it's kind of cool how fast she bonded to our Dad though. She gets him to do all this cute stuff that we can take pictures of and threaten to post on twitter."
Olivia cracked a small. "You wouldn't."
"Oh heck yes we would. Once it's on the net, you can't erase it," Jerry told her, flashing his Grant smile. "And we know that she's getting to be a big girl."
"Yes. That hurts most of all. Her father is gone, and doesn't get the chance to see her grow up," Olivia leaned on Jerry.
"He's watching Liv," Jerry told her. "I know he is. I believe that Emmy's Dad is looking at you and her. Just like our Grandma Lilly is watching us."
"Wow Jer, when did you get so philosophical," Karen pinched him.
"Putting up with Dad and you Sis," he pinched her back. "I know Dad hated watching us get big. I think he still wishes we were small. That way Karen wouldn't like boys."
"Oh shut it Jer," Karen then pushed him over in the sand.
"No Kare-bear," Jerry said back, got up and pulled her by the feet in the sand, making her squeal, and Olivia laugh at their antics.
"No Frizzy Four," she bellowed and kicked water on him. Next thing Olivia knew she was getting wet from Karen and Jerry play fighting in the Pacific Ocean. Just then the kids stopped and looked at each other and went to grab Olivia.
"No. NO! NO," she screamed. She tried to get away but the kids tag teamed her, and dragging her into the waves. Fitz did not see what was going on because Emmalynn began calling for Olivia and he went up to get her. He brought her downstairs, and outside. It was then that he saw Olivia and his two teenagers, playing in the ocean in their pajamas.
"Momma," Emmalynn called out and Fitz put her down. She stopped just at the edge of the water, and Olivia picked her up and dragged her into the waves. A huge wave came and knocked them over, making them all laugh. Fitz sat down and watched his family get soak and wet. By now there were a few agents around because Fitz had come outside.
Olivia whispered something to the kids and without warning all four of them bombarded Fitz, getting him soak and wet. Olivia, Karen and Jerry pulled him into the water. "Hey, my hair!"
Olivia heard him complain but jumped him, knocking him right under the waves. Her hair was total mess of natural curls now, and figured why not get Fitz too. He was not prepared for her to jump him the water and feel backwards right into an upcoming wave. "Got you!"
Just as she began to get up and move away from him, Fitz grabbed onto her and began dragging her into deeper water. "Fitz!"
"Oh no you started it," he snickered, pulling her away from their kids. Karen and Jerry were running around chasing after Emmalynn on the beach, making her laugh and splash in the water. Fitz watched the kids charge the waves and then run away with Emmalynn. When he finally pulled her far enough so he could dip down and pull her into his body, he did so.
"Hmm," Olivia sighed as she felt him hold her. They were past the incoming breaking point of the waves, and could wade easily.
"Are you okay," Fitz asked her.
"Yes. I'm fine. Your teenagers are wise beyond their years," she turned and hugged him. He began to bring them deeper so her feet couldn't reach the bottom. "Fitz," she sternly said. "What are you doing?"
He lifted her legs and wrapped them around his waist. "Trying to get hot with my girl in the water."
She shook her head, then rolled her eyes. "You're terrible."
"Yes but that's why we're are all perfect for each other." He kissed her lips quickly. "Are you sure you're all right."
"I am now. I just miss Christopher still and I don't want Emmy to forget him," she told Fitz.
"She won't, I wouldn't allow her too," he pressed his forehead to hers. "WE won't let her okay." She nodded and kissed him deeper this time. When the heard the three kids heckling, they pulled away from each other. Fitz carried her back until she could reach the bottom, and then they walked hand in hand. Emmalynn ran up to her soak and wet.
"Mommy I wet. My hair frizzy." Emmalynn pointed out.
"I know. Me too," Olivia told her taking Emmalynn in her arms. She then carried her up to the house where the house keeping staff already had towels ready for them. Once they were dried off enough, they went inside, showered and enjoyed the rest of the day, and got ready for New Year's Eve.

Letting Down Your Curls…
As the New Year grew closer, and midnight approached everyone was getting excited. They had a great dinner, compliments of Olivia and Emmalynn, leaving the staff to spend New Year's Eve with their families. Fitz, Karen and Jerry were on clean up detail. Luckily she didn't make anything fancy and it didn't take long.
While it grew closer to midnight Olivia debated on whether to put Emmalynn to put bed or let her stay up. But at 9:00 p.m. local time, she heard her mother's phone ring, and new it was her grandparents. Emmy ran and got the phone and said "Happy New Year" to her grandparent's. She then handed the phone to Olivia who wished them the same.
She talked to them briefly and then let her parents get to sleep. When she hung up the phone, she saw Jerry reading Emmalynn a story on his tablet. She went to see what it was, it was "Sophia's First Princess New Year." Olivia teased him about being a Prince in disguise, which only made his cheeks flush immediately.
Once they finished the book, she opted to take Emmalynn up to bed, and promised to bring her down right before midnight. The little girl was to tired, that she hung onto her mother and didn't even respond. Olivia laid her down and tucked her in for the night. She told her goodnight and before she pulled away, she sleepily asked her mother to sing "their" song.
Olivia sang "Amazing Grace" to her daughter, and by the time she finished the first verse, she was peacefully snoring with Sadie. As she looked down on both of them, she never recalled seeing a small pink flag pinned on his ear. She made a mental note to ask Fitz and the kids when she went downstairs. She gently kissed her daughter and went to see Fitz, Karen and Jerry.
As she made it down the stairs she saw everyone watching TV. She curled up next to Fitz and he immediately snuggled next to her side. They then watched Dick Clark's New Year's Eve show until the clock struck midnight.
As the clock began in countdown in Time's Square, Karen, Jerry, Fitz and Olivia stood up and announced the numbers with Ryan Seacrest.
"10..9..8..7..6..5..4.." they all said together.
Fitz then turned Olivia around to face him;
"3..," He touched her right cheek.
"2…," Fitz then caressed her left cheek, holding his hand there.
"1…," He descended his face to hers, just as the TV said "ZERO."
"Happy New Year," Karen and Jerry said together and gave each other a huge hug. They looked at Fitz and Olivia and knew something was going to happen. They high tailed into the kitchen before they had to witness their heated kiss.
Olivia eyes were locked on Fitz and wondered why he still had not said anything to her yet. "Happy New Year Fitz," she murmured, and tried to pull him closer. "Fitz?"
"Happy New Year First Girlfriend," uttered back. He lifted her up and gave her the sweetest kiss leaving her breathless by the time he was finished. He placed her back down on the floor and saw his kids. Karen and Jerry then kissed Olivia goodnight and told Fitz they that would see him in the morning.
"Livy, why don't you go check on Emmy and I'll get us some wine," he winked.
"Yes Mr. President," she sauntered away, shaking her hips from side to side in her dress that she didn't change out of yet. She saw that Fitz loved it and kept it on. Olivia went into where Emmalynn was sleeping and she was curled into a tiny ball, hugging Sadie. She whispered that she loved her and left the room. She quickly checked on Karen and Jerry and they told her if they heard Emmalynn make any noise they would make sure she was okay.
"Um okay," she answered not sure of why they would tell her that.
She walked into the bedroom she shared with Fitz and kicked off her shoes. Olivia then started to comb out her curls, when she heard a weird sound on her window. It sounded like someone was throwing pebbles at the glass, hitting it just enough to get her attention. She walked over to it and opened the glass. Her eyes widened and her mouth fell open at WHO she saw.
"Fitz," she called down to him. He was now in a white button up shirt, tan shorts, and holding a single RED rose. "What are you…" she was about to ask when he interrupted her words.
"First Girlfriend. First Girlfriend, with curls so fine. Come out your window, and climb down the vine," he sweetly pleaded.
She looked at him shocked. "Fitz you crazy? It's after midnight."
"I know," he walked closer and showed her the latter that was there already waiting. "Come on."
"The feat you ask Mr. President is not easy, and I won't fall for that line, it's far too cheesy," she crossed her arms.
"Livy please," he placed his hands on the latter. "Don't make me come and get you?"
"But Emmy," she tried to tell him.
"Karen and Jerry told me they would listen for her. Now get down here before I come up and carry you down myself," he insisted.

Their FIRST New Year…
"Oh alright," she chastised him and rolled her eyes. He watched her climb down and once she was close to the ground, and carried her to their transportation. When she saw it, she flipped. "Fitz no."
"Livy he's not going to hurt you. This is Minimus," he whispered. He tried to walk her closer to the beautiful white horse, but Olivia was fighting him. "He won't hurt you. I promise." She gave him a look and the horse came over to her so she could scratch its nose. Minimus snuggled into her hand, and she began to scratch his mane.
"Fitz," she giggled. "He's so gentle. Did you really name him after the horse from Sophia the First?"
"Maybe I did and of course he's gentle. I told him he would have the most beautiful woman in the world riding him, and he promised to behave."
"Fitz I am NOT getting on," she began to back up but he stopped her. He reached for her face and cupped her cheeks. He kissed her lips, making her relax.
"I'll be right behind you. You're sitting in front of me. You won't have to do anything. All I want is to take you for a romantic ride on the beach for our FIRST DATE," he softly murmured.
"First Date," she questioned. "Now?"
"Yes now," he bluntly announced. "What did you tell me when you agreed to go out with me?"
And then she smiled shaking her head, knowing he planned this the moment she said yes. "That after the FIRST of the year you could take me on a private date. But I didn't mean tonight silly."
"Well I refuse to wait any longer than I have to. I'm the busiest man I the world, and when we hit home, this may not happen. It's a New Year, and I wanted to do this now for you Sweetheart. So," he jumped on the horse. "Take a ride with me Livy and go on this journey. I promise to never let you go and to keep you safe from harm."
She knew he was taking more than just about riding the horse. Olivia also remembered their bet. "So if I do this…,"
"I guess I get to pick where our FIRST public date will be," he made sure to point out to her also. Olivia gave him a dirty look but did not move to get on the horse. "Livy please do this for me? Don't blow my Prince Charming impression out of the water just yet."
"Fitz," she whimpered.
"Pwetty Pwease…for me," he pouted. He did his best Emmalyn impression.
"Oh God. Fine," she then gave him her hand. He lifted her onto the horse, and once she her breathing finally calmed down, he urged the horse to begin their SLOW walk down to the beach. He had his arms so tightly wrapped around her body, Olivia was surprised at how well he steered the horse. Minimus followed all of Fitz's commands, and led them down the water.
She looked up and saw the moon shining in the night sky and onto the ocean. Her eyes then traveled out onto the water, and saw the ripple effect of its rays, cascading on the water. She leaned her head back on Fitz's chest, and listened to the sounds of the sea. It calmed her, as did the man's arms she was encased in. He then walked them right to where the ocean met the sand, and stopped the horse.
"Fitz," she faced him. "Why did we stop?" But all Fitz did was look down and get lost into her eyes. He was completely spellbound by her warmth, generosity, the interactions with his kids, and how they already "loved" her. He was a lucky man, and he wanted her to know it. She turned herself on the horse, so she could gaze into his expressive eyes.
In this moment, she did not know what he was thinking. The moon's rays, glistened off his pupils, illuminating them in a way she had never noticed before. He moved so he could gaze directly into her eyes. He reached out with his hand, and cupped her face. Instantly she pressed her cheek into his hand, loving the feel of it on her skin.
"Fitz," she sighed. "What is it?" He leaned forward, and needing the skin to skin contact he craved more than life itself. "I'm okay. I know Minimus won't hurt me as long as I have you. I'm safe."
"Livy," he murmured, unable to find his words. She lifted his chin so she could look into his eyes. He titled his head and kissed her. The kisses were soft and sweet, like they had been together forever. He finally moved away and held onto her even tighter.
"Fitz what's wrong," she began to worry. "Tell me whatever it is we'll fix it. As long as I have you, I can do anything," she reached and caressed his face.
Fitz then closed his eyes for a moment to gather himself. He opened them and said, "I love you Livy. I've fallen in love with you. I am in love with you. You ARE the love of my life."
Olivia's eyes widened and she could feel the tears begin to form in her eyes. She finally closed her eyes and let his words sink into her heart, soul and mind. She of course loved him too, but she only said it to him when he was asleep. "Fitz," she mouthed unable to talk.
"You don't have to tell me this now," she made herself say.
He got down off the horse and helped her down. She slide down his body, but he did not place her feet in the sand. Her breathing got shallow, as he felt his lips touch hers. He kissed her gently, with open mouth kisses, not pushing her for more. She wrapped her hands around his neck and ran her fingers through his curls. He continued to kiss her, breaking down one of the final blockages around her heart. She began to whimper, more and more, as the kissed grew deeper, and soulful.
Fitz kissed her cheek and face everywhere that he could. After each sweet kiss, he told her again the same words; "I love you Livy."
"Oh God," she cried and squealed.
"Don't tell me my Princess is speechless," he kissed her nose. "There is no way I left DC's best fixer speechless on New Year's Eve."
She laughed freely into his neck, making him the happiest man he's been in so long. He twirled her around with her legs dangling behind her. When he stopped and placed her onto the beach, she was breathing rapidly. She cupped his face and stared into his bright blue eyes. She shut her eyes briefly, then opening them back up. Olivia then told him, "I love you too, Fitz. I am in love with you too."
He picked up her up and hugged her so tightly that both had a hard time breathing. He grabbed the blanket from the back of the back of the horse but she stopped him. "Oh no. I do not want sand in places I won't get out for the next year Mister," making Fitz laugh. Fitz lifted her onto the horse, and got on behind her. He made Minimus trot back to the house, where an agent was waiting.
Fitz stopped the horse, and once Olivia was safely off, they ran inside the house. The moment he closed the door, she took off running up the stairs, in the hopes that he would catch her. She was faster than he thought and she ran into their room. He went inside but didn't see her right away. Then he heard the door close and knew she was behind him.
Fitz turned around, and saw her beginning to slip out of her dress. He made to her instantly and held her hands, halting her from unfastening any more buttons. "Wha…," she mouthed.
"I love you Olivia Carolyn Pope and we do not have to do this tonight. We have ALL the time in the world. I am no rush despite what my body is telling me," he blushed.
She wiggled her hands free of his grasp. Olivia began unhooking the little buttons on his white shirt. With each button, she kissed his skin underneath, making his resolve weaken by each passing second. "What is your body telling you Mr. President," she finished the last one and slid the shirt off his body. It pooled on the floor behind him.
She ran his hands over his perfectly sculpted chest, and around his six pack. Olivia pressed herself against him, feeling exactly what she was doing to him. She then took his hands, and placed them on her dress. "Take off my clothes Fitz. I don't want to wait. I love you, and I want you to FINALLY make love to me."
Without reservation, he picked her up and sat her on the nearest piece of furniture. He almost knocked a lamp over but she caught it. "If that were to fall, we could wake my daughter," she didn't finished because his lips were on hers. He began to kiss down her neck; licking and sucking her most sensitive areas. Fitz reached the valley in between her breasts and placed his head over her heart, listening to its rhythm.
"It's beats only for you Fitz. My heart is yours. I am yours. I love…" she started to tell him again but he silenced her with another passionate kiss.
"I love you so much," he moaned into her mouth, as he finished unbuttoning her dress, and slipped it off her body. He ran his hands over her silky arms, and finally around her to perfect backside. Olivia felt his hands on the outside of her panties and moved from side to side. As she was now just in her bra and panties, and was chilly, he carried her to the bed. He set her down, and she slid him out of his shorts.
Once he stepped out of them, Olivia climbed under the blankets with Fitz right behind her in his boxers. He looked down at her almost naked form, and immediately his breath hitched. "God you're beautiful," he groaned, as his fingers lightly graced her body. He saw her skin prickle under his light touch, and smiled.
"And so are you," she began to lower her hand on his body, to touch him intimately.
"Livy," he murmured, feeling her hand playing with the band on his boxers. "We can stop this? If this is not want you want," feeling his body, coming alive for the first time in so long. "I want to make love to you, but if I do, just know, there's no going back for me after our bodies, souls, and hearts become one tonight. So don't let this happen if you're not sure."
Olivia began to reach inside his boxers, ready to touch him where he wanted her most. "Fitz I have not been with anyone since Christopher. I loved him with all my heart, but I never thought falling in love with you would feel like this. I love you Fitz and I want you to make me yours right here and now. So make love to me, and I won't be able to let you go either."
"I love you Livy," he muttered as she placed himself between her legs, still with his boxers on. If this was going to happen, he was going to savor every part of her and NOT rush it.
"I love you too."
He leaned down to kiss her, as their lips made contact, they heard..."Momma?"
