I'm so sorry for the delay. I said I'd get a lot of these stories sorted but my phone was smashed and all my stories were written and saved on it. It had a lot such as 'Ravens last dance' and this one fully written out but I ended up losing the lot. As you can tell I was annoyed at writing it all over again so took a break till I had more time. Well now winter's here, work has died down so here we go. Going to finish the stories in order of most popular I think and instead of doing several and risk losing them again, I'm just going to focus on one at once. Well, let me know what you think and happy reading.
Monday, 12.48
Cathy and Jinx headed down to the main room to find everyone sat around talking. The main interest seemed to be Cathy and Gurter it would seem. The team were so deep in discussion that they didn't notice the two women enter.
"You really think Jinx will convince her to help us?" Cyborg asked looking at Raven. "I mean, she's not really the best negotiator."
"Yeah, remember that suicide guy trying to jump off the bridge?" Beastboy asked. "I think he was more determined to jump after she tried to persuade him not to."
"Well this time she did a good job," Cathy said as the team turned to face her. "When do you guys eat by the way? I'm starving."
"Later," Robin said brushing off the question as he looked between Cathy and Jinx. "What kind of agreement did the two of you make?"
"That we work togeather," Jinx shrugged feeling uncomfortable under the leaders gaze.
"Jinx made a valid point," Cathy said looking between the two. "We share the same enimie and so working togeather as a team is a much better idea than me running off and you guys going into this fight blind."
"So you know how to take this guy down?" Robin asked.
"I do," Cathy said as the team looked relieved. "But the problem we have is I can't lift a finger to help you in a fight against him. I get in range of that amulet and I suddenly become your enimie and I assure you, you will not stand a chance against me."
"I don't get it," Beastboy added sounding confused. "Jinx took you down in seconds by pure fluke and now your saying we wouldn't stand a chance in a fight against you?"
"Yeah, I'm afraid I don't follow either," Robin added as Raven and Jinx exchanged looks.
"You want proof," Cathy nodded with a sigh as she closed her eyes.
The team watched unsure what was about to happen. Cathy tilted her head side to side as if trying to work out a ache in her neck before taking a deep breath. Her eyes opened to reveal only white, as if the pupil and iris had just vanished. She slowly raised both hands up to waist hight and as she did, shadows started to pool up on the floor.
"They are the ghosts!" Starfire called out looking scared. As she floated up to the ceiling and out of the way.
"Err... what's going on?" Beastboy asked jumping into one of the seats.
"I don't know but I'm freaking out," Cyborg said as he followed Beastboy.
The shadows started to build up high and took shape. They had arms, legs and a head although no features, just glowing eyes. Before long, the room was filled with several shadowy figures and the Titans looked on edge.
"What are they?" Robin asked looking like he was ready for one to attack.
"Part of my army," Cathy said simply.
"That's what I saw in my dreams," Jinx said more quietly to Raven who herself looked uneasy.
"Don't worry, I have complete control over them," Cathy added seeing the look on the Titans. "They won't attack unless I command them to."
"But what exactly are they?" Robin asked looking from the shadows to Cathy. "Shadow monsters?"
"No," Raven said as Robin turned to face her. "They are the essence of fallen warriors."
"Like thier souls?" Cyborg asked.
"No, more like thier will to want to fight," Cathy said giving the shadows a nod as they vanished back down into the floor just as quick as they appeared. "The stronger thier will to fight, the larger they form."
"And how many of these can you control?" Robin asked as Cathy shrugged.
"How many wars have been fought on this planet alone?" Cathy asked as Robin thought for a moment. "I can summon the will of anyone who has fought and died in a war."
"Gurter can't get ahold of you," Robin said sternly.
"Well no durh, what do you think she's been trying to tell us all this time," Jinx said rolling her eyes.
"Look," Cathy started before Robin could speak. "I can't help you guys much in the fight but I can train you before it. Gurter's species are able to withstand ample amount of pain but it does still take a toll on his body. If you want to defeat him, you need to be able to ware him down quicker than he can wear you."
"Maybe we should ask the other Titan's for help?" Cyborg suggested thinking.
"Yeah," Beastboy agreed. "We can do like a super hero tag team."
"Hero tag team?" Starfire asked looking confused.
"Yeah, like in wrestling," Beastboy nodded. "Keep switching over in battle to give people a rest from the fight."
"That's not a bad idea," Robin said deep in thought while Raven leaned over to Jinx.
"Would you be alright with that?" She asked Jinx who had gone quiet. "Seeing him again so soon I mean?"
"It's a good idea, we do need the help," Jinx nodded although she didn't really answer the question.
"Cathy can stay here for the time being," Robin carried on. "If that's okay with you that is? It'll be easier for us all I think if you stay."
"Fine with me," Cathy nodded. "So do I get the sofa or can I top and tail with one of you guys?" She asked giving Jinx a quick wink that went unnoticed by most of the team.
"We have guest rooms, one of us will show you to one," Robin said simply as Raven gave Jinx a light shrug.
"I'll do It!" Jinx volunteered a little to loud while raising her arm up in the air. "I mean, I can show her to a room and get her sorted."
"Okay," Robin nodded giving Jinx a unsure look from her loud outburst. "While you do that, we'll try to get ahold of the other Titans then we can all meet for training in a few hours."
"Ah, no food yet then," Cathy said under her breath before following Jinx to the elevator. The two got in and soon the doors closed. It started to creep up a couple of flights before either of them spoke.
"Alone at last," Casthy winked as Jinx didn't answer but instead just stared at the buttons in thought. "You okay there, Jinx?"
"How do you look so... human?" Jinx asked choosing her words carfully. "Is it a spell?"
"What?" Cathy asked looking at Jinx. "Why do you think this isn't how I actually look?"
"I had a dream about you when you was in the medical bay still," Jinx said feeling nervous. "You and the shadow warrior things were in it."
"You have dreams about me, hey?" Cathy asked with a smug look.
"Not like that," Jinx said rolling her eyes. "It felt so real... was it you? And if it was, how did I dream that?"
"Could be your powers," Cathy shrugged as the elevator reached the floor and the doors opened. "What exactly did I look like in your dream?"
"Red skin, black horns, quite scary looking..." Jinx said thinking back as they stepped out into the hall. "You was on a firey red horse going into battle," she said as Cathy's expression turned unreadable for a moment.
"When I was controlled by Trigon, that was one of the forms I took," Cathy said as Jinx looked confused. "Could be you dreamt a memory of mine or something."
"One of the forms?" Jinx asked unsure.
"My siblings and I can take shape of the species that we encounter," Cathy explained. "We can blend in, it helps us to get around."
"Okay, so is Bellum your real name then?" Jinx asked after a pause.
"One of," Cathy shrugged with a sigh. "Different planets, species, religions, they all have a different name for me. War is something that takes place everywhere and takes many forms. I have no one true name I distinguish myself by just name others know me as."
"So what can I call you?" Jinx asked as they reached a unmarked door.
"Cathy," she shrugged with a smile as she leaned closer to Jinx, so close she could feel the horsemens breath against her cheek. "But you can call me what ever you wish, Jinx," she purred into her ear sending a shiver down her spine.
"I... err..." was all Jinx could muster as her brain fell blank.
"You going to open the door or what?" Cathy asked looking very pleased with herself at Jinx's reaction.
"Yep," Jinx nodded and quickly used her device to open the guest room.
The light came on instantly as the door opened and reviled a very simple looking room. There was not a lot of furniture but the basics such as bed, cupboards and nightstand. It was a guest room after all.
"Here it is," Jinx said pointing inside. "There's clothes in the wardrobe. You'll have to search through them as there will be a lot of sizes and that door leads to a shower and stuff."
"Okay, thanks," Cathy said with a smile as she stepped in.
"No prob," Jinx said watching the women. "I'm going to head to my room and get showered and changed."
"Good idea, you smell a bit funky," Cathy joked.
"That's rich coming from the girl who's been walking around in nothing but a medical gown," Jinx shot back with a grin.
"Touchè," Cathy smiled. "I guess I'll see you in a bit then?"
"I'll pop back later so we can meet up with the rest of the team," Jinx said as she was about to go.
"Oh wait, one more thing," Cathy called as Jinx turned to face her just before Cathy stepped forwards and pulled Jinx in for a brief kiss. Jinx felt her body melt on contact. How did this women make her feel like this?. "See you later."
"Ah ha," Jinx nodded, too shocked to say much else before leaving to her own room.
