The next morning, Jinx woke up feeling more alive and awake than she had for a while now. She had yet to open her eyes but soon did open them once she felt a second warm presents with her. She looked up to see Cathy's sleeping form and gave a light smile. That's when she remembered last night. After trainning, the two had left to shower and change but met up again in Jinx's room. They talked and laughed about anything and everything and before they knew it, sleep had found them. It had seemed Jinx may had fell to sleep first though as Cathy was sat up in bed with Jinx's head resting on her legs. Jinx was careful not to awaken the Horsemen as she snook off the bed but failed to notice her boots on the floor and ended up tripping over them.
"You're so stealthy," Cathy's sleepy voice said as Jinx lifted herself up off of the floor. "How did you use to rob places again?"
"Shut up," Jinx said rolling her eyes while looking at Cathy smirking back. "I'll have you know, I'm a modern day ninja."
"A neon pink modern day ninja," Cathy chuckled as Jinx kneeled back onto the bed.
"I'm a hot neon pin, modern day ninja, if you don't mind," Jinx corrected.
"No, not at all," Cathy nodded with a wink as Jinx blushed. "Very hot indeed."
Jinx was about to reply before a familiar ring came from the bedside table. Jinx picked up the device which simply read, 'EMERGENCE MEETING' before getting up to get changed.
"We need to get ready, Robin wants everyone down for a meeting," Jinx said as she grabbed a fresh t-shirt.
"What about?" Cathy asked sliding off the bed to retrieve her shoes.
"I have no idea," Jinx shrugged as she headed into the shower room.
The team were quick to assemble down stairs. Beastboy was last to get down and was still dressed in his pj's looking half asleep.
"What's happening?" He asked before Robin entered.
"We've got a distress call from one of the T-coms," Robin said typing away on the main screen.
"No way, man," Cyborg said looking worried.
"Who is it?" Starfire asked before a map of Jump City popped up on the monitor with a flashing red marker.
"Kid Flash," Robin said simply as the team suddenly noticed their guests was not currently with them. "I'm not sure what happened but the distress call came through not ten minutes ago but I managed to track his last whereabouts down," he added as the screen focused on the outskirts of Jump City.
"Isn't that where we fought Gurter?" Raven asked looking at the flashing icon.
"It seems so," Robin said looking worried.
"Why was he even there?" Cyborg asked as Robin gave a shrug.
"I don't know but we better go investigate," Robin said looking at the team. "Titans, Go!"
And so they did. Cathy stayed back at the tower on Robin's orders while the rest set off to Kids last location. Beastboy decided to get change in the car so not to waist time and was ready once there. As the car pulled up, and Raven and Starfire touch ground, they instantly noticed Gurter sat on the bonnet of a van looking bord at waiting.
"Ah, you guys," Gurter said looking up seeing the Titans. "I wondered if this was yours," he said leaning behind him to lift up a limp and uncontious looking Kid Flash by a leg.
"What did you do to him?" Robin asked angrily.
"He attacked me," Gurter said slinging the body over to them before getting off of the van. "I thought we had a deal? Where's my Rider? I know she's still here."
"We didn't know anything about him attacking you," Robin tried as Raven headed to Kid to check on him.
"I don't really care," Gurter said looking annoyed. "I want my Rider right now."
"We... we dont have her yet," Jinx insisted.
"But we have a few more days so..." Robin stared.
"No, you now have four hours," Gurter yelled out looking angry. "Else I will kill everyone in this city."
"No way, you gave us a week," Beastboy called out.
"Before one of you tried to attack me," Gurter pointed out looking at Kid. "I will be back in four hours from now. If you don't have my Rider by then, your city will no longer stand," he said simply before turning to leave.
"Have you had much luck with a cage yet, Cy?" Robin asked quiet enough that Gurter couldn't hear him.
"No," Cyborg admitted. "Will be another day or two at least."
"Then we need a new plan," he said watching the giant leave.
The team couldn't do much else but get Kid Flash back to the tower. Raven used her powers to teleport herself and Kid back to the towers main room where Cathy was surprised to see them.
"What the Hell happened?" She asked looking at the uncontious hero who looked in bad shape.
"I think Kid tried to take on Gurter by himself," Raven said lifting him and headed to the elevator.
"What?" Cathy asked following. "Why would he do that?"
"I have no idea," Raven said getting in the elevator. "I need to get him seen to but the rest of the team should be back shortly," she added before the doors closed, leaving Cathy on her own.
As the team got back, Jinx was first to get in the tower. She headed to the main room then up to the guest room before the roof of the tower where Cathy was stood at the edge, wings out. Jinx tried to catch her breath as Cathy turned to face her.
"Raven told me it was Gurter," Cathy said simply looking at Jinx.
"It was," Jinx admitted stepping closer. "And now he's only giving us four hours to hand you over."
"I assumed he'd do something like that," Cathy nodded. "That's why I have to leave. Will you come with me?"
"I... I can't," Jinx said looking down to the ground. "I know I promised I would but, I can't leave them and this city to fight alone."
"I understand," Cathy said sadly as Jinx looked up at her. "Are you here to try and talk me out of going then?"
"No," Jinx said taking a step forward. "I want you to go," she said, feeling her eyes begin to well. "I mean, I don't want you to go but you need to go. He can't get you and if we fail now to stop him, at least we can prolong him enough for you to escape."
"I don't want to run, you know?" Cathy said, a tear running down her cheek. "I hate running, it's not what I am."
"But you have to," Jinx said reaching the women. "I'll miss you," she added before stepping forwards and taking Cathy into a tight hug. "I'll miss you so much."
"Me too," Cathy admitted hugging back.
"Where will go?" Jinx asked.
"I don't know yet," Cathy said as they ended the hug. "I'll try to get out of America and find a way off this planet. If I leave, Gurter should too."
"Will you return?" Jinx asked hopefully as Cathy shook her head lightly. "This isn't fare," Jinx said as Cathy raised an eyebrow. "I... I think I really like you."
"Me too," Cathy smiled sadly before leaning down to capture Jinx's lips.
This kiss was like no kiss the two had shared before. It was not exciting or filled with butterflies but sad and full of the knowledge that they were never to see each other again. Once they parted, neither spoke as Cathy turned and jumped of the roof, flying off as fast as she could away from the tower, away from the city and away from Jinx. Jinx could do nothing more than watch as the Horsemen slowly vanished from sight till there was nothing but clouds and the view of Jump City to see. Several minutes passed when Jinx noticed that the T-com had been chiming in her pocket and so rubbed her eyes before retrieving it.
"Where's Cathy?" Robin asked as his image popped up on screen.
"She's gone," Jinx said simply.
"I'm sorry," Robin said generally looking it. "It's probably for the best with the circumstances," he said as Jinx gave a light nod. "Titans East have contacted us, thier on thier way but we can't seem to reach anyone else."
"It's better than nothing," Jinx said with a light shrug.
"Do you think you could find Cyborg and give him a hand?" Robin then asked. "Raven's busy with Kid and Starfire is trying to help Cy but, I think she's making more bad than good."
"No problem," Jinx nodded before closing the screen. A distraction was just what she needed right now so she headed back down and to Cyborg's garage. It seemed that Robin wasn't fare from the truth as Cyborg looked ready to blow is circuits.
"The ratchet, Star," Cyborg said trying to keep calm. "That is a nut and bolt."
"Oh," Starfire said looking at the items she had brought over. "Then this is the ratchet?" She asked picking up an oil can.
"Yes, that is the ratchet," he said giving up before seeing Jinx. "You know what Star?" Cyborg asked looking back at the alien. "I could really do with a couple of Longweights."
"Longweights?" Starfire asked as Cyborg nodded. "And what do these Longweights look like?"
"Round, bluish, quite long," he explained as Jinx couldn't help but chuckle. "Beastboy has a few. Just go find him and ask for them."
"I will do so friend, immediately," Starfire said before heading out of the garage.
"Please tell me Robin sent you to help?" Cyborg asked putting his hands together.
"Really that bad?" Jinx asked stepping thither in.
"Oh yes," he nodded as Jinx looked up at a orb shaped object that was massive in size that sat to the back of the garage.
"So what is this?" She asked curiously.
"It's a cage to hold Gurter," Cyborg said as Jinx turned to him. "But it's no where near done. I've been trying to get it ready but I'm not even close to finishing it."
"So no chance of it being ready to go in less than four hours then?" She asked as Cyborg shook his head.
"We need a new plan," he said taking a seat.
"I'm sure we'll figure out something, you guys never loose after all," Jinx said taking a seat next to him.
"There's always that one time," Cyborg shrugged.
"I don't want to believe that," Jinx said thinking. "Surly there's something we can do."
"Like what?" Cyborg asked as Jinx stood up and began to pace around.
"Maybe we could trick him somehow into leaving?" She offered looking deep in thought. "Or get Cathy's soul stone off of him."
"Yeah," Cyborg said looking pleased with the idea. "Cathy said she could defeat him so if we can get the amulet away from, Cathy can stop him."
"But Cathy's gone," Jinx said looking suddenly upset. "She left not long ago."
"What?" Cyborg asked not knowing the women had left. "I'm sorry Jinx."
"Don't be," Jinx shrugged. "I just... I really liked her... Gah, why is everything so hard? Why things just be easier like they use to be? I miss the old days."
"You mean like when you was back in HIVE?" Cyborg asked as Jinx turned to him.
"No, why would you say that?" Jinx asked curiously before remembering something. "The HIVE!" She said running back over to Cyborg. "I think I have a plan!"
"Really? What?" He asked looking surprised.
"So you still have that ring when you use to be Stone? When you was undercover at the HIVE?" Jinx asked as Cyborg have a light shrug.
"Yeah sure, I think so," Cyborg said as Jinx. "But what has that..."
"Find them," Jinx said grinning.
Over in the main room, Robin walked in to find Beastboy playing video games while Starfire was stood near the kitchen.
"You okay there, Star?" Robin asked as she gave a nod.
"Friend Beastboy said to stand here till he got the Longweights for me," she said simply.
"Did Cyborg ask you to get him a Longweight?" Robin asked as Starfire gave a nod. "Okay well, your doing a great job," he said before leaving the main room to check on Raven and Kid Flash.
