The sunset cast an orange glow upon the mountainside, the last inch of day's beauty slowly fading as darkness approached. Night was on the encroach and all the creatures of the world were getting ready to rest, except for the night owls. However, there was one more creature who wasn't ready to rest.
Senbo Mazushi walked along the peak, looking around warily. He'd heard of a starving crazy Eggman in the area and was determined to investigate the rumors. People had warned him, but he went anyway. The sunlight was fading, slowly and the sky gleaming orange.
Leaves fell from the trees, leaving them barren. Leafless trees stood over Senbo as he walked by, casting ominous shadows as some of them swayed in the evening breeze. A howl perked the teen's ears and he turned, thinking he saw someone close by.
And unbeknownst to him, someone was close. Watching, waiting to strike.
A cold chill crept up his spine, Senbo's instincts warned him to run, leave, run as fast as he could. This place wasn't safe.
He then stumbled, almost falling over, but got his footing back in seconds. He thought he'd stepped on a rock, but it turned out to be a skull. A hollow, lifeless skull. Senbo gulped, another skull sat nearby, looking at him from near a rock. A few bones littered the ground, along with a few traces of tattered clothing.
Howling, cold chills.
Senbo turned, his eyes catching sight of a figure watching him from behind a rock. He blinked and the figure was gone. He wasn't alone.
Shink! Shink! Shink!
The teen's heart thumped with fear, sweat beaded his forehead and Senbo found himself shaking in his shoes. Someone was sharpening something, he looked up, down and all around. The eerie sounds continued, followed by footsteps, someone breathing.
Senbo then realized he was breathing heavily; he was scared.
A thump made him wheel around; his eyes wide. Was someone there?
Just a rock, a rock had fallen off a cliff and was coming to rest.
Senbo breathed a sigh of relief. Then another chill shot up his spine. The sounds had stopped, but someone was breathing down his neck. He felt tempted to not turn around, fearing that if he did, he was toast. He stood, rooted to the spot on which he was standing.
'Don't turn, don't turn.' His mind pleaded.
Someone was close.
Danger was nearby.
He wasn't safe.
Senbo turned...
And standing near him, wearing a red shirt, a yellow cape and black pants was a man with a red face and ominous black eyes with red pupils glowing in the dark. His black mouth curled into a sinister smile, the man held up a butter knife in one hand and a fork in another.
"My next meal..." The man said.
Starved, it was Doctor Eggman.
No, Starved Eggman.
The whispers were true, this guy had to be from another dimension.
Eyes wide with horror, Senbo screamed, the scream carried across the mountains. He found the strength to walk and backed away slowly, the color draining from his face.
Starved Eggman, the starving psycho from another dimension, stepped towards Senbo as the teen backed away, smirking evilly with the knife and fork gleaming brightly.
"Don't run..." Starved said, "Stay, stay for dinner."
It was tempting, but Senbo did not want to be this guy's next meal. He had to run, flight or fight instincts kicked in. 'Don't run...' The words echoed in his head over and over.
RUN!
Senbo bolted, he ran as fast as he could, trying to get away from Starved Eggman. He ran down the mountain, not wanting to look back. He looked forward, running as fast as his legs could work.
He heard a yell from behind him, he heard the maniac scream, "DINNER!" He heard the footsteps, he heard Starved Eggman chasing him, but he dared not to look for fear of what would happen if he did.
Senbo tore down the mountain slope, climbing over the rocks and running as quickly as he could. He dashed across the grass, running through the countryside. His eyes were focused, focused on where he was running.
One look, one look, he couldn't do it.
He looked, the maniac was chasing him, determined to eat him. Senbo kept running, his eyes off of Starved Eggman. He had to hide, survive, whatever it took to avoid this guy.
Starved Eggman followed, his stomach growling, his eyes narrow and his mouth watering. This was a meal he craved, a meal that he couldn't avoid.
Senbo ran towards a nearby barn and ducked inside, climbing up to the rafters. He hid in the hay, clutching a forked broom with trembling hands. Senbo lay there, hiding in the haystacks in the shadows. He heard footsteps, it wasn't the farmer.
No, he was after him.
The door creaked open, Starved Eggman entered and began scanning around the barn, his eyes aglow in the darkness and his nose twitching.
He looked left, then he heard a noise and turned, a duck was watching.
"FOOD!"
Senbo held back a gasp and squeezed his eyes shut, hearing the duck scream as Starved Eggman feasted on it. He heard flesh tearing, the sound of the knife cutting into the duck and munching sounds. Then it was quiet...
Too quiet.
Creek, creek, creak!
'No.' Senbo thought, this was not how it would end.
Quietly and slowly, as Starved Eggman kept looking while finishing his duck meal, Senbo crawled through the haystacks towards an opening. He kept crawling and crawling, then he climbed outside and jumped down. He snuck away from the barn slowly, trying to keep quiet.
Then he ran!
Inside, Starved Eggman turned and walked towards a small hole in the wall. He peaked through it, seeing Senbo run towards the town.
"Food!" He growled.
Starved Eggman opened the door and ran outside with a shout of "NO ESCAPE, FOOD". Even from a distance, Senbo heard Starved Eggman and kept running as fast as he could. He made his way into Mushroom Town, the place was settling down for the night, even with a couple folks staying up to chat with each other.
Senbo walked through the town, fear in his eyes. He knew, he knew he couldn't run, not forever.
He had to fight, fight back against the enemy.
And all he had was a forked broom, a cattle prod.
He took up position in town square, a few people watched, wondering what was going on. Senbo ignored the prying eyes, the fear in his heart driving him. This was a fight he could not lose; he was not going to let Starved Eggman get the better of him.
The moon rose into the night sky and a wolf howled in the distance. Footsteps echoed through the streets, Senbo could feel tension, he knew he was coming.
Starved Eggman was near, there was no escape, nowhere else to run.
Senbo had lured him here, Starved had been living in the mountain for a while, since he came to this universe.
Now, he'd come to feast.
The shadow loomed ahead, the sound of a knife sharpening, someone breathing. Senbo gripped the cattle rod tightly, ready to fight.
Closer, closer, closer. The figure stepped into the light, Starved Eggman was in view. The townsfolk were terrified, seeing him for real. Starved would not rest, not until he'd feasted on his evening meal; humans for supper.
Higher and higher, the tension grew. Then...
No return!
Starved Eggman howled in a monstrous manner and ran towards Senbo with a knife, ready to feast on him. Senbo side-stepped the incoming attack and kicked Starved Eggman, kicking him in the shin so hard, the maniac tripped and dropped his knife.
He wheeled towards Senbo, glaring at him with malice in his eyes and gnashed his teeth.
Sharp, inhuman teeth. Starved Eggman was a monster, hardly a semblance of humanity left in him. He was a nightmare from another world, a terror of the multiverse.
Senbo swung the prod at him and Starved Eggman ducked the blow, Senbo swung at him again and, this time, he grazed the madman's skin.
Starved roared with fury and thrust his dinner fork at him. Senbo blocked the strike and ducked, kicking Starved Eggman in the foot, tripping him up again. Then, he thrust the prod and stabbed him, striking him in the shoulder.
Crying with pain, Starved Eggman struggled back onto his feet and made a lunge for Senbo. Senbo ducked around him, avoiding the attempt to nab him.
Dazed and confused, Starved Eggman looked around, wondering where his prey was. Then, when he wasn't looking, Senbo attacked, the cattle prod grazing him in the back. The starving supervillain roared in agony and wheeled around to face Senbo with more hatred than ever.
He reached into his pocket, pulling out a butcher's knife.
No more games, this ended now.
He sliced at him, trying to gut him. Senbo blocked the strikes, the knife's blade narrowly missing him, Starved Eggman roared with rage and kept attacking him. Senbo felt something sharp, realizing that he'd just been sliced across the shoulder. Only a small flesh wound, he was still breathing, still standing.
Senbo kicked the Eggman, kicking him in the gut. Then he swung the prod and knocked the knife out of his hand, Starved Eggman threw a punch and Senbo moved to the side, avoiding it. He raised his shoulder, the mad doctor's next punch bouncing off harmlessly.
While he hadn't been well trained in combat, Senbo had watched plenty of classes and had seen plenty of action movies, he'd studied every move.
The enemy came at him again and Senbo raised the cattle prod to meet the attack, he counterattacked, meeting Starved Eggman halfway...
He heard a grunt of agony, the sound of metal making contact. Senbo's vision cleared, the cattle prod's tips had pierced Starved Eggman's torso', piercing his heart. Red stained the already red-colored shirt. The hungered maniac's mouth drooled, he coughed. Everyone watched, watched with astonishment.
Senbo pulled back, withdrawing the farming tool, the prod's tips were stained with blood. Starved Eggman dropped to his knees, no words spoken. He looked into Senbo's eyes, the eyes of the one who'd beaten him.
His eyes dilated, limbs slackened and he tipped over.
The body collapsed, slumping over on the ground, laying on its side. No life left, nothing remained of this haunting entity.
Starved Eggman was dead.
Relief, Senbo took some time to breathe, a few tears rolled down his cheeks. He was safe, the nightmare was at an end. He returned the cattle prod to the farm, putting it in the farm. Then he walked off, ready to head home and get some sleep.
After tonight, after that ordeal, Senbo needed rest.
After what happened today, nobody would have to worry about Starved Eggman ever again.
But in the multiverse, anything was possible and there were many different versions of people.
Perhaps everyone hadn't heard the last of Starved Eggman. but until then, the insanity could finally be put to rest and never spoken of, ever again...
The End
