The whole village was packed inside the great hall with Silver and the others sitting at a table in front "Alright, alright, everybody. Settle down, please". He looked at Rotor who was still half asleep "Rotor, did you know Negas were a natural species" he tried to answer then fell over. The villagers started yelling over one another "Let me at him" "I'll give him a piece of my mind. And by mind I mean fist". Silver raised his hands "Did you miss the part where we all almost died? Have you seen my house. This is a new kind of enemy. And I underestimated him. That's on me. But I will not do that again". Shard raised his fist "We shouldn't run. We should face them. I'll take em all on". Rutan stood up "I agree. With Silver. Not Shard. You don't know Kragok. He'll be back. He's a predator. Single minded and patient. He won't stop until he gets what he wants". This annoyed Shard. Silver thankfully nodded "Kragok is just a sign of the times. Our enemies are getting smarter, more determined. We're not just overcrowded. We are exposed and vulnerable. Short of full blown war and risking everyone we love, I don't…". He leaned against the table "I don't see a way of staying here any longer". The crowd started yelling again "What?" "You can't!" "What would Shadow think of this?". Blaze released a small explosion silencing them "Hey! Hear him out" she nodded to Silver. He faced the crowd "If we want to live in peace with our Wisps, we need a better plan. We have to disappear. Off the map. Take the Wisps to a place where no one will find them" "And where might that be?" "He's talking about a quest to the portal" Blaze answered. They didn't' understand, "My father was obsessed with it when I was a boy. He made notes and maps in search of the portal where the original Wisps came from. Tucked away somewhere beyond the edge of the world. It may be the solution we need. We are Wisp people. It's where we belong". He sighed "Look, I know this is our home. My father left me to protect it. But Onyx is more than a place. We are Onyx. The people, the wisps. I say Onyx is wherever we go". Jet suddenly jumped to his feet "I'm with him! WHO ELSE!?".
The entire population were now flying over the ocean possessed by Wisps. Some were carrying supplies. Rotor was carrying Spark "Hey, quite squirming" "People who fly with babies are the worst!" Shard said. Omega using his jets flew up next to Silver "I feel like I must ask, is there an actual plan or-" "Just keep flying until we reach the end of the portal". Silver felt something wrong with Cyzer "What is it, bud?". He looked ahead and saw Utako "Oh" she shot up and disappeared again. Silver was forced to fly to where she was "Whoa, hold on, Cyzer". They stopped and looked around. Silver saw Utako behind him "Well, look who it is". She suddenly went through him pushing Cyzer out "AHH!". She smiled at Cyzer who quickly dived down and repossessed Silver confusing Utako. Silver re-joined the rest of the group "Not a word".
Kragok was in Onyx casually eating an apple at the entrance to the hall. The war lords rose up the steps "So where are they?" "Gone. Obviously" "The Laser escaped you again?". Kragok shrugged "I encouraged it. They've abandoned their only defensible position. Running scared with what little they can carry. Don't fret. They won't get far". He stood up "The Laser is distracted. I introduced him to your female. Lasers mate for life" "Yes, but where did they go?". Kragok sighed "I have to explain this". He took out a map "Lasers can't survive in the cold so they haven't gone north. They're trying to put distance between themselves and the enemies to the east and south. And Wisps cannot fly long without rest. There flight will include stops. Therefore….". They didn't say anything "Does anyone want to take a guess? Ugh, west. Simple, you see? Isn't this fun". The war lords all rolled there eyes and started walking away "Oh, where is your love of the hunt. I thought you were conquerors. You'll have your prize in time. Just allow me a few more days to enjoy this. I have dearly missed it".
Everyone landed on an island forest "Alright, this is where we'll camp for the night". Jet raised his hand "This spot's mine. I plan to build a hut. Only for the birds". Meanwhile Shard was glaring at Rutan which he noticed "Is there a problem?" "Yeah, there's a problem. Ever since you showed up, you've been trying to upstage me. You're just so jealous. It's delusional". Rutan smirked and nodded "Yeah, delusion's a good word for it" "Listen, Son of Finitevus. When Hiccup blows it as Chief. I'm next in line. Cousin means I'm number two. So, you better start showing me some respect" "Strange little hedgehog". Rutan walked away past Omega who carried a crate "Workshop is hear". He noticed five Jade Wisps already at his spot "I'll go somewhere else". Silver got everyone's attention "Look, guys, I said make camp. Not build a village". Shard got on top of a barrel "Who died and made you chief". Everyone cringed "What?" an old woman hit him with a stick "Ow!". Silver ignored him "Granted, this place is very nice, but it's not the hidden world" "We don't even know if it exists. This place is real". Tikal came up next to Silver "There's nothing more stubborn than a band of hungry Onyx" "Yeah. Well, I guess this can work as a base in the meantime. Alright, we'll stay for now. But I want defences set up first". Everyone cheered "Until we find the portal" everyone groaned. As everyone started setting up Jet came up next to Silver "Now about that voice. Can we lose the whole honking goose thing. It's hard to imagine bliss that that thing going every minute" he laughed. Tikal joined Silver "If you're going to continue west I should head back to make sure we weren't followed". Shard suddenly appeared in his robot form "I'll come". He armed his cannon "I've been wanting to take them on". Tikal's eyes widened and she shook her head "No, no. You're far too important here". Shard pointed at Silver "HA! You hear that? New chief coming through" he pushed past Silver. He let it slide and looked back at his mother "Just be careful". She nodded and went to see if Rutan was ready to go. Silver saw Blaze "Hey, you think this plan is crazy?" "Let's just say it's a very you plan" "Well, thanks for supporting me last night. It means a lot". She walked up to him "Well, don't thank me yet. I just hope your right about this" she handed him the book which he stared at. He put it down "I got distract myself. Keep busy".
Tikal was in her orb form and flew using the clouds for cover. Next to her was Rutan who was running on the air like it was solid ground. The two travelled for a few hours "Okay, stop". They both did and cautiously moved to the edge of the cloud to keep hidden. They looked through and were shocked to see the Onyx village burnt to the ground "Oh, no" around the island was a fleet of ships "We have to get back".
At night Silver was staring proudly at a small home he has built. Cyzer joined "Here you are, bud. The ultimate Wisp love nest" Cyzer tilted his head in confusion. Silver opened the doors "Storm doors to keep out the cold. A bed of coals to keep you both warm". Cyzer got on the bed of coals and seemed pleased. Silver opened a hatch on the floor revealing fish "An ice box for midnight snacks". He put candles in the lanterns which made shapes of Wisps on the walls "A little romantic ambiance". He opened a larger pair of doors to reveal a view of the moon "And a view any Wisp would devour for". Omega walked past the door and stared at the two of them "Organics" he shook his head and walked away. Silver looked proud of himself "So, you think she'll like it". Cyzer went back to the coal and used his powers to burn them and make it warm. Silver went over to the door "Best of all, I'm right next door if you need me". He pointed at his and Blaze's home which the latter was in the process of building on her own. Tikal landed next to Silver with a concerned look. Silver misunderstood "I know. I know. He has to win her over. But once she moves in it'll all be perfect" "Rutan and I returned from the scout. They burnt Onyx to the ground. Silver sighed and tried to distract himself by fixing the door "At least everyone's safe" "For now" "No one can find us here". Tikal sighed "That's what I used to believe, Silver. But they found my nest. They always find a way". Silver walked away "I don't believe that". She followed him "I-I know it might be hard for you to accept this but… This dream e both have of an untouchable Wisp utopia, I fear it just doesn't exist. Maybe they're safer in the wild". Silver started to get angry "What? With crazy people like Kragok around" "The more we bring back the bigger a target we become". Silver looked back at Cyzer "But… there safer with us. We protect them" "Yes, but I fear for their safety in these numbers. Tame Wisps are more vulnerable. Their trust in us becomes their weakness. In the wild they can adapt to protect themselves". Silver sighed "A chief protects his own. That's what Dad said". Tikal touched his shoulder "And he was right. But as much as we love our Wisps, Silver, they're not our own. There's a fine line between being a protector and being a captor". She knew Silver was upset "Look, I'm heading off again to track Kragok. In the meantime I only ask that you think about it".
