Kragok with some struggle was able to fly through the thunder clouds. Silver chased after him which made Kragok grin "That's it. That's it!". Silver tried to grab him with his powers but whatever he tried Kragok was able to resist "We gotta think of something else".
Omega fought off the bear and tried to shoot him but the bear got a lucky swing and chopped off Omega's arm. He staggered back and fell against a pillar. He then noticed a Jade Wisp sitting next to him. More Jades suddenly flew up behind him and attacked the bear eating all his armour and weapons. Omega raised his other arm "I recommend running" "AH!" the bear did so. One of the Jades nuzzled against Omega's leg "You may be better than I thought". Blaze took control of one of the ships and crashed it into three others. The shake started gave Tikal and Rutan a chance to throw the other two Lords into a cage "Wahoo!".
Silver's pursuit continued into the mountains where two Negas started chasing him "Oh, no" he brought down two boulders which crashed into the Negas taking them out of the chase. Three more appeared as they got out of the mountains and flew over the Onyx camp "Take him down, Silver!" one of the villagers yelled. The three Negas wrapped themselves around Silver throwing him off course "Bud, we need a plan!". Silver could feel his body powering up "Uh, what're you doing". Silver suddenly blasted forward at an incredible speed that he was now ahead of Kragok. The Frenzys were thrown off and crashed. Silver flew towards Kragok who shot him with a blast that pushed Cyzer out of him. Silver managed to use his momentum to grab onto Kragok and he struggled to fly "You'll kill both of us. Fighting over a Wisp. Is that your plan?". Silver looked back and saw Cyzer unconscious falling towards the water "No, this is". Silver turned his bracelet and pushed his hand against Kragok's chest. He closed his eyes "Save him" he used what was left of his energy to pull Utako out of Kragok. The two Mobians were in free fall as Utako flew after Cyzer and managed to push him onto a cliff side. Silver smiled at seeing his friend safe but Kragok pulled him closer and punched him in the face. Silver tried to push him off but Kragok held onto his robot leg. Silver heard a noise and was amazed to see Utako flying towards him. Silver quickly detached his leg "NO!" Kragok yelled. Utako possessed Silver and flew him to safety as Kragok hit the water. Silver laughed as he felt no resistance from Utako "See, I knew you'd come around". They landed on a cliff side and Utako immediately left him. The Wisps, his friends and the rest of the village began to surround him cheering.
Silver however hopped over to the tired Cyzer "Hey, good morning, bud. Here you go". He helped him up "Boy, you're full of surprises". Utako came up to them and Silver petted her "He's all yours" he backed away and Blaze helped him stand. Cyzer and Utako nuzzled each other before Cyzer looked to Silver. The two shared a glance before looking out at the ocean. Silver frowned and approached him. He held his oldest friend in his hands "You're right, bud. It's time. I was so busy fighting for a world that I wanted, I didn't think about what you needed". He smiled "You've looked after us for long enough. Time to look after yourselves". Everyone around him realised what he meant and began to release their wisps. Blaze hugged Nao "Oh, you're a good a girl". Omega tapped his chest and his Rocket Wisp came out of a hatch. He stared at the little organic "You… Have been an exceptional assistant". Despite it the coldness of the compliment the Rocket looked touched any way. Rutan petted Ark's head "So long. I, uh, I hope I lived up to your last master". Everyone was giving their sad goodbyes to the Wisps they had grown close to. Silver smiled and rested his head against Cyzer's "Go on, bud. Lead them home. You'll be safe there. Safe than you could ever be with me". Cyzer purred and Silver nodded "I love you too. And I want you to be free. Our world doesn't deserve you… yet". Cyzer turned Cyan and used his one remaining arm to hug Silver which he returned. Tears fell from his face "Go, bud. Go" he placed his hand on Cyzer's forehead and slowly backed away. Cyzer gave him one last look before turning to the swarm. He let out a roar and with Utako flew away from the island. Every single Wisp followed them from the Onyx Wisps to the ones held by the trappers. The whole village watched the swarm disappear beyond the horizon.
A year later the new Onyx village had been built on the island. The architecture of the buildings had statues of Wisps built into them. All the villagers were standing outside the great hall where a statue of the old chiefs stood. In front of one statue Silver and Blaze stood facing one another. Blaze was wearing a white dress with a fur cape over it. Silver whole a white shirt with a brown cape over it. The village elder stood between them and had just finished speaking. Silver smiled and held out her hands. Blaze took them with a beaming smile. The elder took a golden sash and wrapped out around their hands. On Blaze's side were her parents who both watched proudly. On Silver's side Tikal and Omega both watched. Tikal was close to crying at the sight. Omega didn't know how it was possible but he could swear he felt pride for something other than himself at this moment. The elder stepped back, Silver and Blaze shared a long kiss "To the chief and chiefess". The whole village happily cheered. Rutan caught a bouquet looking confused. Shard started to cry so Jet pulled him closer "It's okay. Cry into my full, soft feathers". Rotor was crying as well "It's so beautiful" "Gross" Wave said. Rotor hugged her which made her roll her eyes and smile "Okay, you win. I like sensitive guys".
Years later "There were Wisps when I was a boy". Silver stood at the front of a ship. His quills were slightly longer and he had a beard. In his arms he was holding a young male cat who wiped his nose "Ah, there were great Wisps that nested on the clifftops like scary birds". Silver dropped the anchor "Ghostly Wisps that hunted for food in organised packs". Blaze was pulling a rope to secure the ship's sail. Helping her was a little hedgehog girl. Once they were done they joined Silver at the front of the ship "There were Wisps that could shake the very ground from beneath your feet". Silver gave Blaze their son before he stepped to the very front of the boat "Some say they crawled back into the sea leaving not a bone, nor a fang for Mobian or Man to remember them by". In front of the ship was a fog cloud with a barely visible formation of rocks in the shape of a circle "Others say they were nothing but folktales to begin with. And I'm okay with that". Part of the fog cleared and Silver could see two Lasers resting on a rock. Then three smaller Lasers climbed up the rock as well. The darker shaded Laser spotted them and began to cautiously advance. Silver tried to hold back tears at the sight of him. Cyzer shot forward at incredible speed and landed in front of Silver. Silver cautiously held out his hand as Blaze got in front of the children. Cyzer made a threatening noise but Silver just smiled "Hey, hey there, bud. Remember me". The kids looked terrified and hugged Blaze who also looked worried "It's okay". Silver closed his eyes and moved closer. Cyzer sniffed his hand and immediately turned black and jumped on Silver knocking him over. Silver screamed as Cyzer hugged him with his tail. Blaze laughed as Silver playfully fought him "Hey, I'm glad to see you too, bud". Blaze helped the kids look "He's not gonna eat your father". Cyzer started licking Silver's face "How's the harness holding up. Should probably give it some fine tuning". Blaze slowly got closer "Look, it's okay. They're friends". Silver finally managed to make Cyzer stop and he looked to his kids "Come on" "Go on" Blaze encouraged them. The two kids fearfully got closer. Silver took their hands "He won't hurt you. Open your hands". They both did but were too scared to look "Let him come to you". Cyzer stared at the two children be moving his head closer and allowing them to touch him. The kids finally looked at him with their mouths wide open.
Silver was flying above the clouds once again. He laughed, he hasn't felt the wind hit him like this in years. He held his son with his psychokinesis as he held out his hands pretending to fly himself. As they went faster Silver threw his son up, released him to let him fall and then caught him again. The boy laughed and screamed with joy as they dived downwards. Utako and Cyzer's children joined them. The kids playfully turned invisible but were only able to hold it for a short time. "Wahoo!" Blaze, on fire blasted past them. She held her daughter in her arms, after all these years Blaze could still keep the fire from burning anything she didn't want. Silver sped up and caught up with her "Legend says that when the ground quakes or ghosts are spotted, it's a wisp that found its way back to us. Letting us know they're still out there somewhere in the universe". Silver flew above Blaze and dropped their son who she caught. Their daughter suddenly glowed cyan and flew away from Blaze and joined Silver. "Yes, the world believes the Wisps are gone if they ever existed at all. But we Onyx, we know otherwise. And we'll guard this secret until the time comes when the Wisps can return in peace". The two families flew higher and higher into the sky.
