A little less than an hour later and Claire was in Wesker's all black (go figure) Mercedes. "So, where are we going to hide out? Some gothic mansion, perhaps a secluded island?" Claire teased. She was nervous but was determined not to let it show. "Your humor is lost on me, Miss Redfield. We are going to a small town by the name of Dexter." Claire started thinking about what type of role she will be playing. "Wait! If I'm supposed to be your love interest, are we married, are we dating? Will we have to share a bedroom? How often will we be going out in public? Maybe you should take me home. I didn't think this through enough." Wesker chuckled darkly. "There's no going back now, Dearheart. I figured it would be less painful to pretend we were only in the dating phase of our relationship. If you fancy playing married, that can be arranged." Claire was a little stung by his words. Her first relationship in, well, ever and it wasn't even real. Claire decided right there that after this was over she needed to go on some dates. She decided silence was the best response to Wesker's remarks, and slumped back in her chair and found herself drifting off to sleep.
Claire awoke to the crunching of gravel under tires and sleepily rubbed her eyes. "Are we there?" she asked. She stole a glance over at Wesker, who either didn't hear her or found her question to be redundant. He was staring straight ahead, face hard and tense. I wonder if he ever finds time to relax? Hey, at least he's handsome. What? What am I saying? He's the villain in every story. He is attractive though. Claire shook her head to get the warring thoughts out of it. This caused a raised eyebrow from Wesker directed her way. Oh. Then he looks over. This is going to be a BLAST. Wesker drove down a gravel road for what seemed like forever. They were in a dense forest, it seemed but when he came out of the trees, Claire noticed a lovely house, more like a cabin, sitting in the middle of a wooded area. "This is where we will be staying? Wesker, I don't think you will have a problem with people not finding you here." Claire giggled, "This is like a needle in a haystack!" "Where is the town? Are we not stopping anywhere first? What happened to 'I'll buy you whatever you require?'" Claire stated this in a deep voice, mocking Wesker. She expected to be chastised for it, but to her surprise he only smirked at her. "Hey! Wait! Was that a smile? I'll have you know that my needs are no laughing matter!" Claire was surprised at the ease in which she found herself laughing with Wesker. WESKER! Wesker only chuckled softly, before assuring her that all she needed would be brought to her or she could go out tomorrow to retrieve whatever her heart desired. Feeling lighter than she had in months, maybe years, Claire walked behind Wesker into the house.
"Now all areas of the house are yours as well, Miss Redfield. I ask that you stay out of my labs and my bedroom. Other than that, I will leave you to your things." Wesker was being out of character kind to her. "Okay, do we have anything to eat? I'm so hungry. Do you want me to make you something as well?" Why was she asking Wesker if he wanted anything to eat? Next thing she knew she would be asking him to sit down to dinner with her. "Thank you for the offer, but I believe I will retire to my work now." Claire felt a little defeated. This was going to be just like everything she was used to. She would still be alone. Not that she wanted to spend time with Albert Wesker, of all people. She had just thought that maybe bad company was better than no company. She started chuckling to herself as she walked to the kitchen to see what they had available for food. "Is something humorous, Miss Redfield?" Claire stopped. She hadn't meant for him to hear her. "Oh, nothing. I was just thinking about if Chris could see the two of us right now. He would probably have a heart attack." Wesker said nothing and just walked through the door to his lab.
