NOTE: I do these very consistently, so it may be awhile until another comes out. It may also not be so long. It all depends.

Disclaimer: I do not own Deadliest Warrior

MAC: So today we have a fantasy matchup. Ezio from the Assassin's Creed video games, and Will from the Ranger's Apprentice novels. Both of these characters were selected for not only their fame in their respective mediums, but for their realisticness as warriors. While neither are completely realistic, and take place in fantasy worlds, they don't utilize magic, and aren't too far off base in their weapons and abilities.

DESMOULIN: Let's look at these 2 warriors. First we have Will Treaty. This guy joined the Rangers when he was 15, after a Ranger saw him scale a tower with only his hands and feet. From there he was recruited, and was a key part of many Ranger missions until he became a full fledged Ranger.

DORIAN: If we look at Ezio, he was born into a rich banking family, but when he was 17 his father and brothers were executed, and he donned the Assassin robes and followed the Creed. He dedicated the next four decades of his life to avenging his family and killing Templars.

NARRATOR: Ezio Auditore. Master assassin, roaming the the rooftops of Renaissance Italy, and murdering leaders of the Templar order.

Ezio parkouring across Renaissance style rooftops, fleeing chasing guards. Ezio jumping onto Templar leader from a roof, stabbing him with his hidden blade.

NARRATOR: Will Treaty, the deadly Ranger and protector of Aurulen, whose skill with a bow and stealthy movement allow him to slay his foes with ease.

Will firing arrows at a passing caravan from the woods, then disappearing into the forest. Will fighting a large humanoid creature with his saxe and throwing knife, then throwing the knife at a nearby enemy and thrusting the saxe into his foe's chest.

WHO...IS...DEADLIEST?!

To find out, our world class fighters are testing history's most lethal weapons. Using 21st century science, we'll see what happens when two warriors go toe-to-toe. No rules, no safety, no mercy. It's a duel to the death to decide who is… THE DEADLIEST WARRIOR!

NARRATOR: It's season 2 of Deadliest Warrior: The Next Chapter, and with a new season come new changes.

Returning from last season, are Geoff Desmoulin, our technology specialist, and Armand Dorian, our resident trauma doctor, as well as Max Gieger, our computer wiz.

New to the Deadliest Warrior staff are Richard "Mac" Machowitz, who was featured in last season's Back for Blood specials. Mac is a retired US Navy SEAL, and is an expert on what it takes to win on the battlefield.

Also new is Dave Baker, an ancient weapons recreation expert. When dealing with ancient weapons, or weapons that don't exist, such as in this matchup, Dave will bring these weapons to life in the blacksmith shop under the fight club.

The Touchtable is new to Deadliest Warrior. Using satellite imagery and interactive touchscreen technology, Mac will be able to draw accurate diagrams of historic battles, and illustrate the tactics of warriors.

The final piece to the makeover, the battle simulator by Slitherine Studios has been updated, to include more accurate numeric X-factors, such as physical health, intelligence, and strength. These will be included before the simulation to give a more accurate result in the 1000 kill battle.

Today, the fantasy battle between Ezio Auditore of the Assassin's Creed series and Will Treaty of the Ranger's Apprentice series will determine the ultimate fictional warrior in entertainment media.

DORIAN: This is going to be cool, since most of these weapons don't exist in the real world, and we'll have our resident weapons smith Dave Baker make these weapons for us.

WILL TREATY:

Height: 5'3"

Weight: 130

Age: 38

Real World Era: Circa 1300

MAC: Will is a small dude, only 5 foot 3, which was short even for his era. If you're short, you probably aren't as strong, and in a hand-to-hand, situation, that's not good. However, with that small size comes speed and agility, something we see Will utilize in his fighting very often. As Boyd's Law states: speed kills.

EZIO AUDITORE:

Height: 6'

Weight: 165 lbs

Age: 44

Real World Era: 1503

MAC: Ezio was born rich, and was athletic as a young man. This translates to very good health, especially for his time. However, Ezio is getting older. He's in his mid-forties, and has had some major injuries in his life, not to mention a temperment if his family is involved. That being said, he's in great shape, and is revered around Europe for his skill in climbing and fighting.

GIEGER: Both of these guys started young, and stayed fighters until they were middle aged. Ezio has more advanced technology, as well as a more personal fighting style. Will's technology is older, but he can use it to great effect, especially his bow. This will be an interesting battle.

NARRATOR: Representing Will is the man who started it all, John Flanagan. Flanagan is the author and creator of the Ranger's Apprentice series, and will provide insight into Will's real World inspirations and his abilities.

JOHN: I based Will out of the Middle Ages in Europe. His bow is based off of the English Longbow, and he often encounters obstacles that reflect real historical people and places, such as the Mongols and castles.

NARRATOR: Also representing Will is Jackson Strathmore, an expert in Middle Ages weapons, and Nicholas George, an expert in high European martial arts.

And representing Ezio is Corey May, co-writer of the Ezio installments in the Assassin's Creed series.

COREY: Unlike Will, Ezio is a character in historical fiction, rather than fantasy. That means that although he didn't exist in real life, the people and places he encountered did. From Rome, to Cesare Borgia, to Machiavelli.

NARRATOR: Also representing Ezio is Sergio Romano, an expert in Renaissance era weapons, particularly in Italy, and Author Cospuchi, an expert swordsman and knife fighter.

To start our testing, we will look at the close range weapons of the warriors.

Will Treaty slays his foes at close range with the Ranger Saxe Knife.

RANGER SAXE KNIFE

Blade: 15 in

Weight: 1.6 lbs

Single-edged

Blued Damascus steel

NARRATOR: In the forge, Dave Baker works on making a real life version of the Ranger Saxe knife.

BAKER: The Seaxe in real life was a weapon used by the Vikings and Saxon tribes. It was a long knife, with a single edge and a heavy blade, giving it excellent chopping ability.

In the book, the Ranger Saxe is described as being 15 inches long, with a straight, razor sharp blade, with a thicker spine and a blue tint. It's also described as being made from a very strong metal.

I'm using damascus steel for the blade, as it is known for its strength, and would have been available to Middle Ages Europeans. I'm also blueing the blade, to give it that blue tint, as well as protect it from rusting and the elements.

Montage of Baker foraging the blade, then applying the blue finish and hilt.

Back in the fight club, the team handles the finished weapon.

DESMOULIN: Right off the bat the thing that surprises me is the perfect balance of the blade, but it still has some weight to it.

MAC: You can feel that this is just made for the hack. A downward swing with this thing, and it's over.

JOHN: This is very close to how I imagined the seaxe in my books, and actually handling it I can understand how effective of a weapon it is.

NARRATOR: To determine how effective the Ranger Saxe is at eliminating targets, the team has set up a ballistics gel torso and a pig carcass for Nicholas to attack.

Grid Desmoulin puts an accelerometer on Nicholas's wrist, to see how fast the swing is.

DESMOULIN: Nicholas are you ready?!

NICHOLAS: Ready!

DESMOULIN: 3… 2… 1… CUT EM' UP!

Nicholas slashes at the gel dummy's neck, and the blade goes deep into the throat. Then he stabs into the rib cage, and the blade goes a most halfway in. Nicholas brings the blade up and hacks down into the dummy's head, the blade nearly cutting the head in half.

Nicholas walks over to the pig, and thrusts the blade into the chest area, the blade going about halfway in. He then pulls the saxe out and delivers 3 deep slashes across the stomach of the pig, leaving a deep gash.

NICHOLAS: DONE!

DORIAN: This first slash into the neck is an instant kill, cutting both carotid arteries and the windpipe. This guy would instantly go unconscious, and bleed to death in a matter of seconds.

This stab to the chest is also a kill, going all the way to the heart.

The hack down into the head is impressive. Not only do you get through the skull, you almost cut his head in half, the blade went as far down as the nose. This is an instant kill.

The blows to this pig are also effective, the thrust is into the lung, which will kill, and these draw cuts across the stomach would disembowel him. This pig is dead.

FLANAGAN: The Ranger Saxe is also known to be able to dent and break swords.

DESMOULIN: That makes sense, since this is made from a strong steel. Steel in Will's era was probably very poor, and the high quality Damascus steel would be able to hold its shape much better.

NARRATOR: Ezio used a legendary sword to cut down his enemies in battle: the Sword of Altair.

SWORD OF ALTAIR:

Blade: 30.5 inches

Weight: 2.2 lbs

Double-edged

Damascus steel

MAC: So Dave, walk us through the design of this blade.

BAKER: Well, it's made for Damascus steel, since it was made in the middle eastern area. It has the design of a European cruciform sword, with a straight, double-edged blade, and an eagle themed cross guard and pommel.

DESMOULIN: Corey, this is a European knight sword style, but Dave said it was made in the Middle East, and then used by someone in the Renaissance, which is another style of sword? Also, who is Altair?

COREY: So Altair was an assassin in the 1100's in the holy land. During this time were the crusades, which explain the European influence. After Altair, the sword was passed down through the generations of assassins and treated as a relic, until Ezio got it in the late 1400's, then again in the early 1500's.

NARRATOR: To test the sword, Author will have to demonstrate its killing potential on 2 pig carcasses.

DESMOULIN: AUTHOR, ARE YOU READY TO CUT EM' UP?!

AUTHOR: YA!

DESMOULIN: 3, 2, 1, GO!

Author grips the sword with both hands and swings hard into the abdomen of the pig, the blade cutting through the spine and going most of the way through. He then stabs the pig in the chest, and cuts across its neck, leaving a deep gash.

Author turns to the other pig, and runs it though with the blade, before twisting the sword and drawing down as he pulls it out. He then swings at the arms, and amputated the limb from the pig. Author finishes with a cut to the ribs.

DORIAN: your first slash here is impressive. You cut right through the spinal cord and aorta. This is an instant kill.

This stab would actually be non lethal, since you missed any organs, but the cut to the neck is an instant kill.

Your thrust here is impressive as well. Not only is it deep, going all the way through, you twisted the blade, making the hole even bigger, causing more blood loss and tissue damage. You also pulled the blade down when you drew out, which would cause even more damage.

These 2 cuts to the arm and chest are deep as well, with both being crippling blows.

NARRATOR: But which weapon fairs best against then enemy's armor?

Will's Saxe must hack through Ezio's Renaissance-era armor.

ASSASSIN ARMOR:

Weight: 25 lbs

Steel

Cuirass and Spaulders

Grieves and Vambraces

NARRATOR: To test the armor, Nicholas will attack a ballistics gel torso wearing Ezio's armor.

DESMOULIN: 3… 2… 1… GO!

Nicholas stabs into the cuirass, but the blade only dents the armor. He then winds up and delivers a blow to the spaulder, which glances off. He then finishes with a slash to the neck.

DORIAN: Well, this cut to the neck is a kill. The armor does not protect the head or neck at all. As for your hits to the shoulder and chest, they do not penetrate, and would not affect Ezio.

NARRATOR: But how will the Sword of Altair fair against Will Treaty's armor?

RANGER ARMOR:

Weight: 5 lbs

Leather Tunic

Wool Cloak

Leather Gauntlet

NARRATOR: Author will attempt to kill a ballistics gel torso clad in Will's Ranger armor.

DESMOULIN: 3, 2, 1, GO!

Author stabs into the leather tunic, and the blade goes a few inches deep. He then slashes across the stomach of the tunic, but the blade only goes a couple inches in. Author finishes with a cut to the neck, going deep.

DORIAN: Once again, this shot to the neck is easily a kill. Your stab goes 6 inches deep, which is plenty to kill. Your cut goes 3 inches in, which is not quite enough to kill.

NARRATOR: But which blade gets the edge?

DESMOULIN: This one's easy. The ranger saxe is an effective weapon, but it's a knife. The sword of Altair is a sword. Not only does it have more killing potential, the blade is twice as long as the knife.

MAC: When you rely on your ranged weapon, like a bow or a gun, the knife is more common since it doesn't get in your way and helps if your enemy is too close. That being said, it's meant as a backup weapon. The sword is meant to be a primary weapon in close range. And, it is better at getting through the armor. Edge: Ezio.

NARRATOR: For close range weapons, the edge goes to Ezio Auditore for the sword of Altair.

EDGE: EZIO AUDITORE

NARRATOR: For medium ranged fights, both warriors use throwing knives.

JOHN: The Rangers use throwing knives not only as a throwing weapon, but also as a handheld one. They use this in conjunction with the saxe for a technique called the 2 knife defense.

THROWING KNIFE:

Blade: 4.5 inches

Weight: 1lb

Leather handle

Leaf shaped blade

NARRATOR: The Assassin's also have a throwing knife for a mid ranged weapon, with a special throwing technique.

THROWING KNIFE:

Blade: 4 inches

Weight: 1.2 lbs

Steel

Single Edged Blade

NARRATOR: To test these weapons, the experts will have to hit 4 targets 15 feet away, and a ballistics gel torso 10 feet away.

Up first is Author, with Ezio's throwing knives and special technique.

AUTHOR: Ezio and the Assassin order in the video games have a special technique where they can throw 3 knives at once. In real life, this isn't very easy or effective, as the power behind every blade is 1/3rd of if you just threw one. But, it would still be a good way to wound people.

DESMOULIN: AUTHOR, ARE YOU READY?!

AUTHOR: Ready.

DESMOULIN: 3… 2… 1… GO!

Author picks up a knife off of the table and hurls it at the gel torso, the blade embedding itself in the abdomen. He then picks up 3 knives, and throws them at the 3 targets. 2 hit, while the 3rd misses. He throws another 3 knives, this time all 3 hit, but one barely sticks, and falls out. Author finishes with another knife at the torso, this one landing in the upper chest.

DORIAN: Let's look at the gel target here. Your first blade went into the hilt, about 4 inches in. This throw would hit the liver and intestines, and might not be instantaneous, but this guy definitely couldn't fight well, and would die in a few minutes without medical attention. Your throw into the chest isn't as deep, since you nicked the clavicle. This might hit the subclavian artery, and could also be incapacitating to the arm, but he could still fight, and would only die after the battle most likely.

You were right about the 3 knife technique now being very effective. 2 of your knives were solidly in, but not very precise on the body, so you couldn't aim it to be lethal or avoid armor. The 3rd knife was the least accurate, and when you did hit it the 2nd time, it wasn't very powerful.

NARRATOR: Up next is Jackson with Will's throwing knives.

DESMOULIN: 3, 2, 1, GO!

Jackson takes his first knife and hurls it at one of the targets, hitting it in the chest. He repeats this with the other 2 targets and his them all in center mass. Jackson takes aim the the gel torso, and throws another knife, hitting it in the midsection, followed by another knife, hitting it in the ribs.

DORIAN: This first hit to the gel torso is a definite kill. It goes in right under the sternum, and would hit the aorta. He would bleed to death very fast, and be out of the fight. The other hit would collapse a lung, and would also be a kill, though not instantaneous.

GIEGER: These hits on the targets are more accurate than with Ezio's knives. Since you're throwing one at time, you have more power and accuracy behind every knife.

NARRATOR: So which throwing knife gets the edge?

GIEGER: This one goes to Will in my opinion. Not only were the throws more accurate, it can also effectively be used as a close range weapon, given the heavier blade.

DESMOULIN: Quality over quantity. It doesn't matter if you can throw 3 knives, if the hits aren't powerful enough to do anything. Edge: Will.

NARRATOR: For mid range weapons, Will's throwing knives get the edge.

EDGE: WILL TREATY

NARRATOR: Both of these warriors also had long range weapons at their disposal.

Will and the Rangers dealt death from a distance with the longbow, so accurate that it could kill a man 1,000 feet away.

LONGBOW:

Range: 400 yards

Length: 5 feet

Wood and String

Steel arrowhead

JOHN: The Ranger's Bow is directly inspired by the English Longbow. The English Bow was very accurate and effective during the middle ages.

NARRATOR: To test the longbow, the team has set up a gel torso 20 yards away to see how lethal the arrows are, and 3 human sized targets 75 yards away to test the bow's accuracy.

GIEGER: John, are you ready?

JOHN: Yes.

GIEGER: 3… 2… 1… GO!

John knocks an arrow, draws, and fires his first shot, hitting the gel target square in the chest. He takes aim again, and hits it in the head. John then takes aim at the targets 75 yards away, and fires, hitting the target in the chest. He goes for the next target, and hits low in the gut. He fires at the last target, and hits it in the chest.

DORIAN: If we look at the gel target first, we see that this is plenty lethal. The sharp metal tip here goes in between the ribs, and beautifully hits the bottom of the heart. This is a kill. Your shot to the head, I mean, you can't get much better than that. Right in the eye, hits the brain. This is an instant kill.

Your second and fourth targets are kills, but your low hit would not hit any organs, and would just hurt.

DESMOULIN: John your arrows were moving at about 209 miles per hour, that is plenty lethal.

NARRATOR: But the Ezio camp thinks it's warrior brings more bang to the fight.

COREY: Bows and arrows went out of style for a reason. Ezio's long range weapon is a gun.

HIDDEN GUN:

Ammo: .69

Range: 25 yards

Wrist mounted

Single shot

AUTHOR: This gun had a short barrel, and was fixed to Ezio's left bracer, allowing it to be concealed. It could also be fired while we was fighting, and could merge close range and long range combat together.

NARRATOR: To test the killing potential of the hidden gun, Author will shot the gun at a ballistics gel torso 30 feet away. He will then have to reload and shot the target again.

DESMOULIN: AUTHOR, ARE YOU READY?

AUTHOR: READY!

DESMOULIN: SHOT EM' UP!

Author takes aim, and hits the target in the chest with his first shot. He reloads the gun, and after a few seconds, fires his next shot, also hitting the target.

DORIAN: Both of these hits are kills. The bullet has no problem delivering a killing blow, since your shots were going 447 miles per hour, twice as fast as the arrows.

NARRATOR: So which weapon gets the edge?

DESMOULIN: This one goes to the longbow. The gun is plenty lethal, but it takes too long to reload, and it has terrible range. The bow is also lethal, but can fire faster, and farther. Edge: Will.

NARRATOR: For long range weapons, the edge goes to Will Treaty, for the Ranger's Longbow.

EDGE: WILL TREATY

NARRATOR: To finish the weapons testing, we will now look at the special weapons of these 2 warriors.

For Ezio and the assassin order, the hidden blade is their signature weapon.

HIDDEN BLADE:

Blade: 12 in

Double-Edged

Steel

Retracting Blade

COREY: The hidden blade is the signature weapon of the Assassins. It consists of a bracer, and a retracting blade attached to it on the inside of the wrist. The blade comes out with the flick of a wrist. There's usually one on each wrist, and is the primary weapon used for assassinations, as it is very concealable. The primary way that a blade was used was from above, when an assassin would jump from a height down onto a target.

NARRATOR: To test the killing potential of the hidden blades, Author will jump from a 10 foot wall down onto a ballistics gel torso. He will then continue to attack the target.

DESMOULIN: 3, 2, 1, GO!

Author deploys the blade, then leaps down onto the torso, plunging the blade into the dummy's neck. He then recovers and stabs the dummy in the back. Author moves to the front of the dummy, and stabs it in the sternum.

DORIAN: This first wound you have in incredible. You have the force of your entire body falling onto him, concentrated on this little blade. The strike is perfect, you go right into the carotid. This is an instant kill.

Your stab in the back goes right between the ribs and goes into the heart. This is a kill.

Your stab in the front severs the aorta. This is also a kill.

NARRATOR: Author scored 3 kill shots with the blade.

Will Treaty and the Rangers strike back with the Striker.

STRIKER:

Range: 20-65 feet

Weight: 1-2 lbs

Brass and leather

1 or 2 sided

JOHN: Strikers consist of a brass tube wrapped in leather, with weighted spheres at the end of them. They can be used as melee weapons, or thrown at range. Not only that, they can screw 2 of them together and double the throwing range.

NARRATOR: To test the striker, Jackson will use the striker on a gel torso, then throw it at another gel dummy 30 feet away.

DESMOULIN: 3, 2, 1, GO!

Jackson strikes the dummy in the head, then does it again with a second striker. He then screws them together, and winds up his next blow, striking the dummy's skull. He then turns around and throws the striker at the ranged dummy, and the brass ball hits it right in the head.

DORIAN: Let's look at this first dummy. You hit him 3 times in the head. As we see here, we have some fracturing of the skull. This would be incapacitating, and cause a concussion and possible some hemorrhaging, but it is not an instant kill.

This ranged hit also has a depression in the skull. This would knock them unconscious, and may lead to death later on.

NARRATOR: Which special weapon gets the edge?

DORIAN: I have to give this to the hidden blade. Not only is it more lethal, but it is concealable.

EDGE: EZIO AUDITORE

NARRATOR: To finish the testing, we will go to the Touch Table to look at the strategies of both of these characters.

MAC: So Corey, what can you tell us about the tactics of Ezio Auditore?

COREY: To get an idea of Ezio's tactics, we have to go to Rome in 1501.

Touch Table zooms in on Rome

COREY: So the year before, Cesare Borgia had devastated the Assassin brotherhood. He had killed Ezio's uncle, and captured or killed the rest of the leadership and lower members. Everyone else had gone into hiding. To bring the brotherhood back, Ezio had begun building an assassin network in Rome. He used brothels as intel gatherers, and recruited a large group of assassin apprentices to rebuild the order. He freed Caterina Sforza from the Vatican, and helped Bartolomeo defeat French forces to allow him to refocus his military against the Templars.

Ezio's forces appear as red (friendly) dots all around Rome, increasing with time. Lines showing connections and spys emulate from the dots.

Key red dot surrounded by blue (enemy) in vatican liberated.

Blue forces outside Rome flanked by red dot (Ezio), and weakened, then a full red force defeats them.

COREY: That, coupled with Ezio killing key Templars to liberate areas of Rome, allowed him to drive the Templars out of Rome and restore the Assassin brotherhood.

Blue squares, representing strongholds, are taken down and replaced with red.

NARRATOR: Now, Mack will talk with John to learn about Will Treaty's tactics.

MAC: So obviously, Will isn't a full frontal fighter. He needs to use deception and smarts to defeat more powerful opponents. How would he do that?

JOHN: Well Mac, I think the best example is at the Siege of Macindaw.

You see, one of Will's allies was trapped in this castle with 30 enemies, so he needed to break her out.

Touchtable shows a red (enemy), 4 sided castle model, with a red rectangle inside, and a single blue (friendly) dot inside.

JOHN: Obviously this is too much for Will and his one remaining ally to do alone, so they enlist the help of 25 Scandians. Usually, the best way to get a castle is to have a 4-to-1 ratio of invading and defending forces. Since its numbered 27-30, Will is still outnumbered.

Blue rectangle of slightly smaller size, plus a blue circle outside castle.

JOHN: However, Will has some brains. He uses the Scandians as a distraction, and, after training them in archery, the Scandians serve as a big distraction and draw all the forces to one end of the castle, and actually get in. Meanwhile, Will and his buddy are able to get in on the other side, and they take the castle, and free their friend.

Blue forces attacks castle, destroys red forces, as Will gets into the castle from the other end and saves the captured friend inside.

NARRATOR: Now, which character's tactics are superior?

MAC: Both of these guys have great tactics. However, Ezio's tactics are on a larger scale, and not entirely combative. However, Will's tactics are perfectly suited for combat, and that's what we're looking at in the sim. Edge, Will.

NARRATOR: For tactics, the edge goes to Will Treaty.

EDGE: WILL TREATY

NARRATOR: With the testing complete, Max will plug the data into the fight simulator.

For close range weapons, Ezio's Sword of Altair cut down Will's Saxe.

EDGE: EZIO AUDITORE

For medium range weapons, Will's throwing knives out did Ezio's throwing knives.

EDGE: WILL TREATY

For long range weapons, Will's Longbow shot down Ezio's hidden gun.

EDGE: WILL TREATY

For armor, Ezio's Renaissance-era steel outlasted Will's leather garb.

EDGE: EZIO AUDITORE

For special weapons, Ezio's hidden blade beat out Will's strikers.

EDGE: EZIO AUDITORE

And for tactics, Will's siege of Macindaw was superior to Ezio's Roman reconquest.

EDGE: WILL TREATY

NARRATOR: Before we begin the simulation, we will review the X-Factors of these 2 warriors.

GIEGER: Training is a big X-Factor here. Will Treaty and the Rangers train their whole lives for what they do. Ezio was also trained from a young age, but he was already developed at that point.. Will has a score of 88, to Ezio's 78.

TRAINING:

WILL TREATY: 88 EZIO AUDITORE: 78

GIEGER: Intelligence is another X-Factor. Wil is very smart and quick on his feet, but he isn't as smart as Ezio for the bigger picture. He may get out of one or two bad situations, but Ezio can avoid them entirely, and turn the tables on his opponents. Ezio gets an 82 to Will's 66.

INTELLIGENCE:

WILL TREATY: 66 EZIO AUDITORE: 82

GIEGER: And finally, Generalship. Will isn't very high with this, since he is less experienced than some of his comrades, and they will do what they feel is appropriate. Ezio, however, commands the respect and loyalty of the Assassins. Ezio has a 94 to Will's 46.

GENERALSHIP:

WILL TREATY: 46 EZIO AUDITORE: 94

Max hits the button, and the simulation begins.

The battle takes place in a small village on the edge of the woods. In the middle of the village is a large tavern, crowded with many people.

Will is in the tavern, but not participating in the festivities. He glances out the window near the door, and sees a man in a white hood staring at him. He does a double take, just as someone walks in front of him. When they move, the man in the window is gone. Will starts to get suspicious, but just then a courtesan walks up to him and tries to talk him. He isn't interested, but feels something is off. The courtesan quickly walks away toward the door, just as Will realized what happened: she picked his pocket. He gets up and goes after her, but she starts to run and gets out the door. He follows her out, and she's standing a few yards from him, but her eyes are looking at something above him. Will sees a shadow move on the ground, as if something is on the roof. Instinctively, he dives away, just as Ezio lands where he was a split-second ago, hidden blades extended.

The two warriors stare each other down, both now standing. Quickly, Ezio brings up his arm and fires his hidden gun. Once again Will notices his movement and dives out of the way. When he recovers, he throws a striker at Ezio, hitting him in the head. Ezio stumbles, and holds his head as he sees Will running away from him. With his free hand, Ezio pulls out a throwing knife and throws it at Will. The blade hits Will in his lower back and penetrates his leather tunic. He cries out in pain, but keeps running and makes it to the woods, where his bow and knives are resting against a tree. Will picks them up, and turns around to see Ezio running toward him, reloading his gun as he goes. Will draws his bow, and fires at Ezio, but the arrow bounces off of his cuirass. Will throws his second striker at Ezio, but this time he blocks it with his arms. When he looks up, Will is gone. Ezio finished reloading his gun, and ventures into the woods after him.

Ezio draws his sword and looks around for Will. After a couple seconds, an arrow sprouts from Ezio's arm. He grunts in pain and turns around to see where the shot came from. Ezio sees Will about 100 feet away, and charges him. Will fires another arrow just as Ezio ducks, grazing his neck. Will fires again, this time Ezio is only a few yards from him, but the assassin ducks behind a tree. Will knocks another arrow as he turns to run, just as a knife wizzes by his ear. Will turns and fires, but the arrow bounces off Ezio's spaulder. Ezio fires his hidden gun, but fires it early as he's raising it, so the shot goes low, hitting Will in the calf. Will winces as he dives behind a tree, and gets his throwing knives out, hearing Ezio approach. As Ezio rounds the tree, sword raised, Will throws a knife at his face, but Ezio blocks it with his blade. Will throws another one, this time at Ezio's thigh, and the blade sinks into his leg. Ezio grunts, but brings his sword down onto Will.

Just then, Will pulls out his saxe and blocks it. The two warriors are locked in a stalemate for a second, before Will shoves Ezio away. Ezio quickly recovers, and swings his sword again, but Will blocks again with the saxe, and throws his knife at Ezio's face, this time giving him a deep cut on his cheek. Ezio turns and holds his face, as Will backs up and knocks his bow, taking aim for the final blow. As he's about to fire Ezio throws a throwing knife at him, hitting Will in the shoulder. This made him move, and Will's shot misses again. Now, Ezio charges, the Sword of Altair ready to cut him down.

Will pulls out his saxe again and blocks it, and the two exchange blows, Ezio starting to overpower Will. Ezio backs Will up, and he trips on a root, falling on the ground. Ezio turns the sword, and stabs down with both hands at Will. Will makes an "X" with his throwing knife and saxe and diverts the blade to the side of his head. Ezio tries to bring the edge of the blade down onto Will's face, but he maintains his defense. Then Ezio smiles, and takes one hand off of his sword. He grabs Will by the throat, then flicks his wrist, deploying his hidden blade. The cold steel goes into Will's neck, and blood spurts from the wound, as the Ranger goes limp and drops his weapons.

Ezio withdraws his hidden blade, as he closes Will's eyelids and utters the incantation "Requiescat in pace" (Rest in Peace). The Assassin then leaves the woods and meets up with the courtesan that helped him.
