Chapter 2
After a while I finally learned to read and write without any trouble!
Mom helped me do it and she even bought me some medical books after a lot of begging.
Luffy had too much energy and my stories weren't enough to please him, so we went on little adventures at the forest.
Not really deep because we couldn't really fight.
I knew self defense but I doubt that I could protect my self from the animals.
Garp showed up from time to time to train Luffy and I begged him to take me along.
If I wanted to meet Ace or more importantly become a pirate doctor, I needed to toughen up.
Suprisingly Garp agreed and he even started to call me his grand -daughter .I shuddered the first time I heard it.
He believes that I am going to be a marine doctor.I let him live in his delusions.I am never going to work for the rotten world government .
They put a bounty at Robin at 8 for being able to read the history, the executed Ace for existing! And they do nothing about Celestial Dragons!
And one of the most sinful thing they did, was Law's past.As a doctor I can't even imagine it.
Even Garp seems appalled by some of their " duties" but he can't do much without being a traitor.
He can turn a blind eye to some things but he can't disobey direct orders.And he knows it. That's why he is striving so hard to make us marines.
To save us from our crime, existing.But with Akainu and his supporters of absolute justice, we will never be safe.
And Garp deep down knows it.
That's why he will accept our choice.
With some yelling and a fist of Love but nevertheless he will accept it.
I was now 7 years old and Luffy 6 years old.
Mom accepted the fact that I am going to become a doctor and leave some day.
She even supports me because saving lives and travel is a pretty good life .
We were sitting in the bar when I heard someone yelling " Pirates are coming "
"Did you here Tsukiko? Real pirates are coming! And they will have stories about their adventures "said Luffy with stars in his eyes.
" Are you implying that my stories are boring? Because I can stop telling them"I pouted.
" Of course not! Your stories are great but it's different ! These are pirates"answered Luffy.
As if being a pirate explained his logic!
Suddenly I heard a door open ."Makino we are back" yelled Shanks.
" Welcome Captain! I have had to see you many years" answered mom with a smile.
' Well I guess it ' s time to make my appearence '
I put innocent face no1 ( yes I have practiced many of them) and I went behind Makino.
" Mom who are these people? Are they your friends?" I asked while looking curious.
" Mom? You have a daughter? Are you now married Makino? " asked Shanks panicked and a little sad.
' I thought he was my father! If he doesn't know about me then who is my real father? More mysteries to be solved'
" This is my daughter Tsukiko. She is 7 years old. I am not married. And as for Tsukiko, her hair are mostly like her father's " answered mom with a pointed look.
Shanks looked at me and his eyes widened. And then he looked so happy.
' And that answers my question's about my father'
" Hi ,I am Tsukiko. Are you mom's friends?" I asked .
" Hi, my name is Shanks. And I am more than just a friend. I am your father" he said while ruffling my hair.
' No shit Sherlock' I thought and mentally rolled my eyes.
Several gasps were heard.
" Congratulations Captain " said Benn while hitting him lightly in the shoulders.
" Are you pirates? Gramps said that pirates are bad and that we should be strong Marines! " I said while waiting for their reactions.
Well I might be a enjoying messing with people a little more than I should.
So what? Sue me but I know everyone wants to see the cool Shanks freak out.
And that exactly what I got.He seems to move frantically.
"We are pirates but we are good people. And who is gramps? Makino doesn't have a father " he said startled.
" Gramps is Luffy's gramps. His name is Garp and he is a Marine.
He adopted me!" I said while laughing brightly.
I looked at Shanks and he was ready to faint
' Check mate '
"Garp adopted you? Well don't listen to him. All the Marine stuff is just a propaganda! " he said.
' Yeah right, like you don't brainwash people about pirates.You inspired Luffy to become the Pirate King.
Many kids are fascinated by pirates because it seems cool but it became his goal'
"Well it is okay if you are pirates. Because I am going to become a pirate doctor. But it's a secret okay? Don't tell grandpa" I answered while grinning.
" Oh you want to become a pirate? Aren't you a little young about that? " he asked.
He was obviously amused by my antics.
" I am going to become a doctor. Pirate is just a way to practice my job and travel simultaneously" I answered.
" And pirate is your answer? You can work for the Marines or the government ,at some bases. It will be more safe. Why pirate? " he asked a little curiously.
He was testing me.Probably thinks that a kid would choose pirates because it is cool or you can make more money.
" That's easy if I was a marine my freedom would be limited. I would have to obey their rules. And I refuse to become a puppet to their absolute justice. To their hypocrisy. " I answered full of determination.
He seemed a little surprised at my answer and proud.
" You are on the right path kid " he said while ruffling my hair.
And then our conversation stopped or rather it was interrupted by an over excited and impatient Luffy that wanted to hear some adventures.
I sat close enough to hear what they were talking about and join the conversation if needed but generally I started a conversation with the doctor about some illnesses that he encountered or are common in a ship.
I really enjoyed the fact that someone finally understood what I was talking about.
Most people usually think that I am a little obsessed and shrug me off.
Like with Luffy and his meat and that is a very strong and unfair comparison!
At some point Shanks heard our conversation and tried to join.
So I asked something that I really wanted to know and was very important.
" So was there an illness in your old ship? That was genetically inherited? Or incurable? "
I tried to be a little discreet. I couldn't ask what was the illness that Roger had.
He paled a little and finally said " I don't know. I am not a doctor. Only our doctor knew this kind of information "
' Liar! I bet you know! Well then my only option is Crocus.
If I want to save Ace from dying, I must find out. Even if he doesn't become sick from it. As long as there is a chance he might,I am not going to take risks.'
"Such a same! I wanted to learn more about your old crew! Who was your doctor?So if I ever meet him, I can ask him" I asked.
" I don't think you will find him. He quit his job but his name is Crocus if you are interested " he said.
' Bingo! And now I have an excuse for asking Crocus '
" Thank you daddy" I said and I hugged him.
" My daughter is so cute! Isn't she Benn?" while laughing .
It was a pretty good atmosphere and Luffy looked so happy.
And then the idiot ate the devil fruit.
And that was how he became a rubber man .
