With a great portion of her powers sealed by Magatsuhi, even directly channeling her ki into the diary fed me but a pathetic fraction of energy than what should have been. We thought it wise to limit our communications through writing and dreams to conserve energy. I also suggested that she not take me to sengoku jidai when their battles started to escalate. The ambient dark magic, or jyaki, in the air aggressively infiltrated my diary and I could not command her reiki to not purify it, thus using up more of my reserves. But all that lack of communication probably led me to my current predicament.
A foot grazed Kagome's bag, and I watched several dozen more people hurry by for their morning commute. It was almost magical how many people could sardine themselves into these Japanese trains. I couldn't completely fault Kagome for losing her rucksack during rush hour in Tokyo. Well, I could a little bit. She should have been paying attention to when the train doors were closing and kept her backpack close. Now I was stuck on the platform while she was speeding away towards school.
Now, what to do? What to do? I had just enough energy to materialize but not for long. It was enough time to buy a drink from the vending machine and maybe give some people a good scare, but that was about as far as I could get. Maybe I could pass the bag off to a station worker to drop off at the lost and found. Nevermind, it seemed some citizen had done just that. Now I just had to wait for Kagome to come back for me. I didn't doubt that she would. She was nice and loyal like a Hufflepuff. Ugh….
Some time later, a barely disguised Inuyasha picked me up and brought me to Kagome. They arrived at school and Kagome grew panicked and emptied her bag onto the ground to look for something. She must have been desperate because I felt our mental connection open.
"Tom-san! Where my entrance exam ticket?!"
"You leave me at the station and that's the first thing you say to me?"
"Sorry! But I need my pass! That's the whole reason I come back so fast! I need it to take test! I can't fail because of stupid reason!"
"I take it back. That was not very Hufflepuff of you at all."
"MY HIGH SCHOOL LIFE IS OVER BEFORE IT EVEN STARTED!"
I winced and I swore I could hear her mind crying. Thankfully, her mum arrived with her entrance exam ticket and silenced her.
"Are you going to keep the connection open so I can help you like any resourceful Slytherin would do?" I said offhandedly.
Kagome sat down at her assigned seat and dug through her bag for a pencil.
"A Slytherin would also have the pride to do this by herself." Kagome shot back before cutting me off.
Well….I didn't want to wish her luck anyway. I crossed my figurative arms.
