20 Ships in 20 Days: Day 1 Arthur and Gwen

Arthur stormed through the lower town and entered Gwen's house without knocking.

"Arthur! Why are you here?" Gwen got over her surprise long enough to realize Arthur was angry about something. "What happened?"

"My father wants to ask Sir William to stay in Camelot and pledge allegiance to our family." Arthur rolled his eyes. "If he only knew what we did, he would know how laughable that is."

"If he ever found out what we did, he would sack me and Merlin and execute William." Gwen paused. "What am I saying? He would execute all of us except you. You're his heir."

"We need to get William out of town." Arthur looked around. "How do we get him out of town without Father getting suspicious?

"You could tell Uther that William has had a death in the family and is needed at home." Gwen took a breath. "Have William write a note to Uther."

"He can't write and Father knows my hand." Arthur leaned on the table.

"Merlin could do it. He has beautiful handwriting." Gwen suggested then started to arrange the flowers in the vase on the table.

"How do you know what his handwriting looks like?" Arthur caught her hands with his. "Guinevere?"

Gwen wrinkled her nose. "He writes love notes to Morgana and signs them as her secret admirer."

"I'm going to kill him."

"Arthur, leave him be." Gwen grabbed his hands this time. "Morgana enjoys them and he would never cross the line with her."

"Fine." Arthur sighed. "I'll have Merlin do it. We better not let Morgana see it. She'll think William is her admirer."

Gwen laughed. "Uther might make her marry him."

"That would be a fate worse than execution." Arthur laughed with her.
