Laufey's head fell heavy as the memory did.
It left him even more tired than he was before. The feeling of being gripped so tightly and to remember such a thing that happened many centuries ago as if it happened only a moment before showed just how much power his oldest child had and no doubt that Frabruti would gladly teach their son of way to better control it.
"Your paths crossed…" The Golden Realm Queen said softly. "Before the Great War."
"It matters not." Odin growled the pain of Loki's strong grip slowly melting away. "Now to deal with you, Laufey."
Odin raised his spear summoning thunder, gathering it to his spear before readying it to strike. A barrier of water and Ice formed up around the Jotun King the glow of the Golden eyes glowed behind the ice fiercely.
'Not enough magic.' Laufey thought as he tired pulling more form his already exhausted body. 'No time for an escape... I will not last another strike after this…'
Odin swung down his spear as a loud crack of Thunder released aim at his enemy when the Thunder was suddenly blocked by black and green wall of fire that redirected the thunder off to the side crumbling part of a wall that had been there since Borr's time.
All eyes went from the crumbled building to the wall of fire that lowed to a Jotun in a wolf's fur, his red eyes seeming to glow even with the light of the suns. For a moment the blue skin melted back to that of Asier along with green eyes.
"Loki!" Frigga gasped happily.
It was cut short when her youngest turned quickly leaning down helping up Laufey from where he had falling. The skin returned blue, the Jotun royal markings returned. With Loki supporting the Jotun King they looked at the Asgardian rulers.
The world seem unreal to Frigga as she saw them together, Loki was shorter by a full head still just a child to the Giants. Her rival, the biologic Bera of the Mischief God still stood tall despite having to lean on his child, the Golden eyes locked on her husband as her beloved shouted words of rage.
None of which she heard. No, she heard not the things of which were said because she gazed upon the Jotun and for the first time she saw it. A bond they shared, something she thought she had with Loki. Yes, they did love each other, cared for the other and even now with Laufey's body showing physical exhaustion he pushed himself foreword to shield his child if the need arise.
She knew that Laufey would give up his own life to save Loki's. That even though the Bera and the Small Born had only spent such a short time together as a family he was willing to. There was no sign that he would regret it either.
No…
No Laufey would gladly die so Loki could live.
Hot tears spilled form her eyes as Frigga wept without words only the small sounds of hurt was barely audible and she thought no one heard her as she whispered a name filled with longing.
Loki…
Helbindi sat on the Throne in the ruins, his brother Byleistr close by going over the last of the plans. Their Father was at the front of their army ready to go with the order came to march onward. His Father's face was that of clam.
How? How could Father be this calm? Surely he should be close to insane with his Mate missing and with the bond wreaking to that of nothing. No sign that Laufey was even alive and yet he looked clam! Impossible is one knew their beloved was harmed or killed by the enemy.
Helbindi could understand not what his Father felt nor what he thought.
"My King."
Helbindi turned to Alie to stare at her and noticed the worry and fear of her face. Before he could ask her that troubled her so she gasped holding her hands to her stomach.
"Loki is gone."
Odin went to strike them.
Monjir blocked the strike before returning to its owner who leaped down from the sky. A moment later another landed next to him with a large ax in his hold.
"Thor, Baulder," Loki said.
"Loki, go." Thor said. "We will handle Father."
"What makes you think you have the right to let them leave." Odin growled out.
"Come away," Loki whispered to his Bera feeling the fever raiding him. "We must away,"
"I have not the strength." Laufey admitted with worry in his voice. "You must go without me."
"I cannot leave without you." Loki said pulling Laufey with him as his brothers… no, the Odinsons battled with there father. "We will away and I promise not to leave you."
With great struggle the two made their way to leave. For a moment Loki glanced back at Frigga. Seeing her pained state made Loki feel guilty. For a moment he wanted to reach out to her, to hug her and reassure he that it was alright.
Their eyes met and she mouthed out. 'Go.'
Nodding Loki helped his Bera walk on. If they could just get out of the eyesight of Odin that Loki could cloak them from the Gate Keeper.
However Loki could feel the heat raising off Bera. The heat was beating him. Taking in a breath Loki held it before releasing it summing off cool frost hoping to ease the suffering from his Bera. There was a muttered thanks as they continued. A minute seemed to last for hours.
Than Laufey stumbled.
"Bera!" Loki cried out looked worried. "Bera, come away with me. Only a few more minutes and I can heal you."
Gasping in the hot air Laufey forced himself up his eyes so dull Loki wondered if the King even knew what was happening. Holding on tightly to him Loki lead them on muttering a cloaking spell, a cooling spell, and many more trying to cool down his Bera.
Loki may have been able to adjust and protect himself from the heat but for someone who had be born and grown with the ice of their Kingdom to be here in the Golden realm must have been like one who lived benifet the water before suddenly being left on the dry land.
"Hold on, Bera," Loki said fear lacing his voice. "Do not worry I shall not leave you. Please… please try to stay awake."
There was no answer just small pants as Laufey struggled to keep breathing. As they neared a house Loki felt that his Bera would soon pass out. There had to be something to distract him. Anything.
"Father must long for you." Loki spoke softly. "I am sure he trying to come to your side."
"…Fra…. Fárbauti …?" Laufey gasped out eyes focusing a bit more.
"Yes," Loki smiled happy to get a reaction. "Father must be worried but fear not we shall be home soon and all will be well. You do wish to see Father again, do you not?"
"…Yes... He… must be…" Laufey paused for a moment trying to get words out. "W-worried…"
"So will my brothers… and…" Loki looked up at the house. "Come inside, Bera, I'll heal you now."
They made their way into the house. Loki lead his Bera right to the tub helping him in before turning the water on cold. Summoning some large ice blocks he let them float on the water. His Bera needed to cool down and soon. If not than Loki feared the worse.
The house they had entered was his. A little hidden place he had claimed about three hounded years ago. It was a safe haven for Loki when a new treaty would come a long. It was here he hid until he forced an abortion on himself.
"Loki?" A horse voice called.
"Yes, Bera?" Loki said leaning down to look him in the eye. "Is something you need?"
It looked like Laufey had wanted to say something instead his Bera just closed his eyes finally sub coming to the heat exhaustion. Loki carefully maneuvered him so that he would not drown before summoning some healing magic the young Jotun placed his hands over the water as the blue glow settled over the water before pure white swirls of healing mist before to sink passed the cold water and into Laufey.
Loki knew he could only heal his Bera to a point. With this spell Odin had placed on him to kept him of that size of an Asier was restricting not only Laufey's powers but that ability to heal properly and as far as Loki knew only his Father Frabuti could remove it and heal him.
"I must get you home." Loki spoke softly before lowering his head. "I must get us home before a War emerges."
Only a hum at the back of Laufey's throat was the reply.
There was such little time before Odin found them. Alone Loki could hide away for months but with Laufey's powers drained an easy trail would the All Father right through the door. There had to be something that would help them.
There had to be another way back to Jotunnhime… Yes…
"Of course…" Loki breathed before he stood up rushing to a bookshelf pulling out an old book he had stumbled upon many years go. "Where is it… Ah, here you are."
Taking the piece of paper out of the book Loki read over the spell. After memorizing the words he placed it away before pulling out a bottle of moon dust that his parents had given him before his memories had been locked away. The spell would take most of the precious dust, yet they would be sent home.
Rushing back over to the tube he helped his Bera sit up. "I am truly sorry that I cannot let you rest more, Bera, but it is time to go home."
Taking a deep breath Loki began to summon all his magic.
A bright light flashed in as a portal opened.
The Jotun came forward quickly weapons raised, the Leader of the Army stepped forward as two small shapes began to appear struggled to come forth. Instantly Fárbauti recognized them rushing to the light calling their names for all to hear.
Just as his beloved and son half stepped into the snow land someone came hurling at them.
"No!" Fárbauti screamed.
Without much though Laufey shoved Loki out of the way as a knife priced his side as Loki screamed in horror. A white blur came rushing passed attacking however it was casing the portal to shift behind them as they three fought in the snow.
Frabuti reached out for his mate and Loki when his mate cried out. "Behind you!"
Swinging his sword with speed none Jotun could match Frabuti cut off the head of a traitor before he heard screams.
"Fárbauti ! Fárbauti , help Loki!"
Fárbauti turned back just in time to see Loki, Fenrir, and Thor Odinson falling into a world that he recognized as…
Midgard.
"Loki!" Laufey screamed forcing himself up despite the pain. "No! No, I will not lose you again!"
"Bera, no!" Loki screamed back. "It is alright! Thor is with me, it is alright!"
Running towards the portal Fárbauti shouted a spell that would release his mate form the bound of an Asier size. Laufey returned to his natural height as he dove for Loki reaching out desperately as his child started to fall.
"Loki! Loki…!"
"Laufey, no!" Fárbauti cried out in fear jumping his mate could get harmed in the closing portal and they heard Loki shouted one last thing.
"I shall return to you!"
It was an a nice day in New York.
The Avengers had decided to spend that day together. At the roof of the Avenger tower was a giant pool, a wet bar, a grill that Jarvis cooking everyone's outdoors favorites, a tv showing the game, snacks laid out on a table along with some sweets.
On a chair Steve sat drawing looking up every now and against at his team before going back to drawing trying to capture the time in the sketch. Tony was fiddling around with some waterproof toys he had made as he sat on the shallow part of the pool that only came a few inches with Pepper next to him trying to get him to stop trying to open the new toys in the water because even if they were water proof outside didn't mean inside.
Off to the side on a lawn chair Bruce was leaning back a book resting on his chest as he had drifted off half hour ago. He had been wanting to finish the book but spent most of the time trying to get Tony to stop prodded him anything from a spoon to a straw. At least Bruce was now resting.
Clint and Natasha were having races to see who could swim faster than the other by going lap after lap trying to get one up on the other. So far the race had been going on for about twenty minutes. Coulson had been by the pool keep the time on a stop watch.
Steve looked up once again before going back to his drawing when a loud rumble and the darken sky descended on them.
"Looks like point break is back." Tony looked up. "Uh… Hey, Cap?"
"Yeah, Tony?" Steve asked as he started to close the drawing book.
"Is it me or is there a giant wolf falling out of the sky?"
