"It's so cold!" Tony cried trying to hide more in the furs. "Geez, when we went for a 'walk' I thought it was real walk! Not some kind of wormhole!"
"Cap, do something," Clint grumbled as he tried not to move too much from his spot by the wolf's leg. "I think I'm getting frostbit."
Just than the door opened and a large blue woman with markings walked in with a kind smile. "Hello, I am Ali and I will be giving you these."
She set down six large pieces of thick fur. They took them wrapping themselves in them and suddenly the woman waved her hands and the furs turned into clothes that warmed them up along with finger gloves, boots and hoods that had wolf ears of stop much to Fenrir delight.
"I hope that is better?" She asked with a soft voice. "I shall inform the royal family that you are no long in danger of dying."
"Thank you, Ma'am," Steve said. "We really appreciate it."
"I'm hungry."
"Tony!"
"Oh, than I shall bring you something to eat. Please rest and do stay here until we know how to return you to your realm."
Fenrir leaned over picking up Tony and putting him back near him before nudging the others who were trying to look around the large room. He didn't like them going too far because he just kept losing them every time they took off. Sometimes they would go and come back a few days later and that was scary to him.
What if something happened to them?
Whining he snuggled two of them at the same time, the curly haired one and the one they found in the snow.
When Laufey woke from the memory he felt terrible. Reliving that memory was something he often wished that he could forget. Groaning a little as he sat up he paused seeing his mate asleep with his head on the bed and their hands clasped together.
Before he could wake the other he felt someone moving and looked down to see Loki waking up as well and the little Jotun woke stretching before getting up and climbed onto his best. Holding his son close he whispered to him that all was well.
"I did not know… that your Father had forbidden you two… you are both so happy with each other that it seems as if it was only a night terror… but it's real."
"Yes, that is true. As you can see we are well with each other."
Loki looked up in thoughts. "How did you mange if there was a War?"
"It was postponed. You see, my Father received word that King Borr had fallen ill so they decided to disband the war until he was well again."
"So, no war… Odin did not confront you on the battle failed than?"
"No. No, you see after they had announced it I did not return to the palace. Instead I returned with your Father to his parents home."
"You did? How did that go?"
"Well, I learned much from life there for the little time I was able to live with them."
"Like what?"
"Many things." Laufey looked up in thought before sitting back. "I learned how to fight, hunt, and live like a normal Juton."
Loki looked up in thought eyes getting sleepy again.
"Wait, Loki, don't-!"
Looking down at his hands Laufey turned them over and back again before sighing. Working on a farm was certainly not what he was used to too. Instead of being served and handfuls of servants Laufey learned soon that not only did he have to dress in common clothes and work in the field but also learned how tiring it was.
Frowning he sighed before standing up and heading towards the wood [pile before gathering a few good logs to take back home. Walking out of the barn he headed right for the little house and pushed the door opened with his foot before walking in and setting the wood down for later.
Going back outside Laufey looked up at the sun. It was a little over midday. Signing he stretched before heading back into the field where his in-laws were working the field, plowing, planting, and on the other side harvesting.
Joining in Laufey got back to work even if his body was straining. However he refused to be treated different. Besides if other could work as such than so should he. After another hour Laufey groaned softly standing up straight rubbing his back.
"Laufey, if you wished to take a break," His Bera in-law said kindly. "You may. You are not used to this kind of work as we are."
"Tis kind of you." Laufey sighed feeling tired however he shook his head. "However I am fine. Just a bit tired as of late."
"Fárbauti, shall be back soon," His Father in law said. "Why don't you go and make him something to eat? Something simple, perhaps…"
Wincing Laufey looked back at the two older mates house was and the part that was broken from the last time he had tried to cook something for Fárbauti to come home. It was his first time cooking with magic or cooking at all so it didn't work all. Needless to say they had to rebuild part of the kitchen.
"I shall get something simple, however I shall return to help." Laufey spoke trying to hide the tiredness of his voice before heading towards the little house that was his and Fárbauti's. "I might take something as well…"
Inside he easily put together a very simple, very ordinary meal. One day, he swore, he would learn to cook something that wouldn't explode, set itself on fire or mysteriously move on its own. Looking at the food he frowned. A drink would be nice. Grabbing a few fruits he attempted to make what should have been juice.
"…" Laufey frowned at the glass of strange liquid before his eyes shifted side to side and he pushed it next to the food. "Do not kill him…Please."
Yawning Laufey leaned over before standing up. His back had been hurting for the past few days. It seemed to get worse as the days moved on. Rubbing his back again Laufey went outside to wait for his Mate to return.
Both of them had mated right after the War had been postponed. That had happened two weeks ago. It was wonderful and Laufey was grateful that no one had come to stop them or force him home. Although a feeling was hidden in the back of his mind.
"Laufey~"
"By the norns!" Laufey screamed the peels flying from his hands and landing on the floor. "What have I told you about doing that?!"
Laughing Fárbauti hugged his mate from behind. "My apologies but I had called you twice and you had yet to hear me! I whispered it and to my surprise you had heard me!"
"You did not or I would hath heard you."
"I swear by the Norns I did called upon you first." Fárbauti grinned into Laufey's shoulder. "I confess that I have had my heart soar to see you again, love."
"Hmm," Laufey smiled leaned back into the embrace. "I have missed you as well beloved."
They stayed that way for a while just enjoying each other being so close until there was a loud clanging sound. It sounded so odd that it made them both turn their head aburtly to a window. Looking at each for a moment before Fárbauti moved away from his mate to look out the window and soon followed Laufey as they looked up at the darkened sky.
"Something is wrong." Laufey spoke as the realm seemed to become still. "A calming… it is a calming, Fárbauti."
"Indeed it is," Fárbauti frowned before looking at his mate. "A war shall come and I must teach you to fight."
"Oh, Fárbauti," Laufey grinned a bit. "I already know how to fight."
"I meant in battle."
"Do you really think that just because I'm a bearer that I wouldn't sneak out in disguise to train with you and your lot?"
"Such mischief!" was the roaring laughter. "Our children should have your wit!"
"And also you're magic."
They fell into silence once again as they watched at the snow started to fall again. Fárbauti moved to eat his lunch and carefully poured the drink into a potted plant praying that it did not die. However Laufey stayed where he was his gold eyes looking up at the sky.
There was an odd hum and it spread further into him and his back started to ach more than it did. Grunting Laufey pressed one hand to his back as h leaned over a little. Perhaps he had pulled something when working in the field. Walking over to the table he took a seat next to his mate and reached to take a piece of fruit when it struck again.
"Laufey, are you alright?"
Pausing Laufey shook his head for a second before closing his eyes for a while. "Yes… I am well, just… tired I suppose."
"You are not used to this kind of work, Laufey. You should rest."
"No, I will just take a potion and I shall be fine. Come now; eat your food so we can go help your Mother and Father in the fields."
"I think you should stay inside and rest."
"No, I shall not laze about well the rest of you work. I am perfectly capable." Laufey assured with a weak smile. "It will pass."
Once they had finished and went back into the fields Laufey went to fetch water from the well and was carrying the two buckets back when he froze feeling something on his back burning. Setting the buckets down Laufey reached back to touch the marking on his back frowning.
They were sore. They felt odd and they started to burn. Surely he had somehow hurt himself by pushing himself too far with farm work. A moment passed before it passed. Standing up Laufey reached for the water when suddenly a searing pain shot through his body forcing him to double over.
Gasping Laufey's eyes were wide. The pain started to burn like fire. Another shot flew up his back and through his arms, legs, head, and suddenly he couldn't breath, couldn't see. It hurt so bad that Laufey hadn't even realized that he was screaming until he was scooped up by Fárbauti and saw his new family trying to calm him down.
They laid him in bed that much he was aware off. Laufey couldn't stand the pain so he started to trash around on the bed screaming and crying, trying to break the hold that was placed on him. When they wouldn't let him Laufey tried to beat them off however Fárbauti was keen enough to know what he would do next so the other grabbed him by his wrists to keep from hurting anyone.
They were talking but only in small parts. They were shouting, yelling calling, but all was as if it was underwater. The pain was unbearable and soon it eased just a bit and Lafuey realized that the blurred vision was his own tears. Gasping between the sobs Laufey realized why the pain was subsiding.
"No," Laufey gasped. "Fárbauti, no,"
"Tis alright… lean me your pain,"
"No!"
The rest of the day and throughout the night Laufey managed to keep most of the pain to himself but Fárbauti took some to suffer with his mate as the pain passed. A part of Laufey didn't want to come to terms with what the pain was from but as the pain started to die down towards the morning was when Laufey's eyes were both saddened and some of the light lost.
They had cast him out of the family.
The Royal Family of Jotunhime had disowned him, the bonds from all had been cut. That was what the burning pain had been from the bonds had been broken or rather torn. It left him exhausted
When Laufey woke with no pain he felt a cool wet towel on his forehead. Opening his eyes Lafuey looked up as his vision focused on his mate. Fárbauti smiled at him eyes lighting up. Only Fárbauti could make him smile in a time so dark.
"Hello, Laufey,"
"Fárbauti… they… the bond…"
"I know, beloved, I know… however you still have me and my family."
"A comfort, yes..."
"It is alright to cry, Lafuey, you've just lost your family… tis alright to cry."
However Lafuey hadn't lost his family, they had abandoned him.
Loki woke up shaking his head.
Taking in a breath he sat up rubbing his face. Everything he thought on how and what happened to his parents and how his Bera had been abandoned, the little house they lived in when they now lived in a grand palace, the work in the fields, Loki swore he could almost feel the sting from the farm work, the burning was familiar since Loki had some from when the marks on his back would burn from time to time but never like that. The ripping of bonds from both parents, siblings were horrible. Almost like ripping apart of the soul away one time bit at a time.
Suddenly his Bera sit up quickly gasping and looking around before grabbing Loki who yelped before he was held close. Hugging him back Loki sighed sadly.
"I'm sorry, I cannot help it."
"I know, it is alright," Laufey sighed. "Let us just try to keep our minds blank… and I think we should wake your father."
"I wonder how long he has been there?" Loki wondered. "I hope he has not been there the whole time."
"I can assure that he has," Laufey smiled reaching out to run his hand in Fárbauti' hair lovingly. "Not once has he ever left my side even if it was just a small fever."
"Well, are you two not adorable?" Loki smiled at his Bera. "And both of you were so young too. How old were you in Midgard years?"
"Midgard years?"
"It's how I measure how old someone is."
"I see." Laufey looked up in thought. "Midgard years… I believe I was just fifteen and your father was seventeen."
"I am surprise the coming of age is so young."
"Not for us however it is only that one is oldest enough but most did not find their mates until years later in life mostly it's about four or five years the least and I have heard some who had not found their mates until twenty some years later. All in Midgard years of course."
"You two found each other before, did you not? How long had you known each other?"
"I met about two Midgard years beforehand. We met during the beginning of the winter festival and the moment our eyes it just seemed… right."
"I believe the Norns had meant for the two of you to be together." Loki smiled. "How did you meet at the festival?"
"Loki, I know you thinking about it for I am getting sleepy…"
Fárbauti woke suddenly when Laufey and his son plopped on him. What in the nine realms did he miss?
"There are rather cute aren't they?" Býleistr grinned petting the little mortals dressed as wolves. "I never thought I would that Fenrir would take in mortals."
"Yeah, we can hear you." Clint grumbled. "We're not really pups you know."
"I am aware but my nephew thinks you are."
"I like it." Tony grinned. "I'm like an adorable pet from cute pony movies."
"Should we be worried about that?" Natasha glanced at him. "We might accept you for who you are."
"Oh, might?"
"Yep, might." Clint grinned. "Hey, blue guy can you put us down?"
"No, Fenrir doesn't want you to wander off." Helbindi said grinning as he looked over some papers. "I supect he went out to fetch you some food."
"I want Zebra," Clint said simple. "One form the zoo."
"No, Clint!" Steve glared at him. "No more Zebras!"
"I have slept to long…" Laufey sighed sitting up. "Loki are you done yet?"
"For the day," Loki yawned before stretching. "I cannot help it. Both of you do such wonderful things and overcame such hard times. It is like a wonderful storybook."
"Laufey!"
"Ahh!"
"How is it you still jump when he calls you name? I got well enough used to it when Tho-" Loki paused feeling a little sad. "Never mind…"
"Loki, are you well?" Fárbauti still seemingly trying to suffocate his mate. "You look a little sad. Was it a bad memory?"
"Such mischief! Our children should have your wit!"
Loki smirked before looking right at his Father. "Father, you were such a beast in bed~"
"You did not see that!" Laufey all but shrieked face burning as Fárbauti looked horrified. "It's a jest! It's a jest…! Loki tell him you are jesting!"
Loki nearly died laughing and once again the marks lightened.
[Winter Festival: Fárbauti 13, Laufey 11: In Midgard years. ]
Whooping and cheering the young Fárbauti turned the corner before running back someone and skidding to a stop. Rushing back Fárbauti stared right at another Jotun who was standing looking at a booth with prizes and was smiling at one. Maybe he had stared to long before the other stop smiling and turned to look at him with slight surprise.
Suddenly Fárbauti felt his heart flying and he couldn't help but let a opened mouth smile take over his face as the other smiled back.
"Hello,"
"Hello."
"I am called Fárbauti,"
The other smiled his cheeks dusting lightly with a blush. "I am called Laufey."
"Uh," Fárbauti shook his head to clear it. "Hello, Laufey."
"Hello, Fárbauti."
