Awesome! Got it up! Almost forgot to post it. For posterity's sake- It's December 16th!
Read on!
If Adrian was expecting anything when he walked into the main area, it was not Steve poking and puzzling over a laptop.
"What are you doing Steve?"
"Tony gave me this thing and told me he figured he'd better give me a connection to the internet. I got it turned on, but I'm not sure what to do with it."
"Leave it to Tony to not tell you what to do. Here let me help. I'm sure you'll figure it out quickly. First, let's create a profile for your laptop..."
Natasha stopped when she spotted both Adrian and Steve huddled in front of a laptop, Adrian calmly directing Steve in the basics of what the stuff on the desktop is, his hand touching wandering to touch Steve every so often..
"Finally, there's Internet Explorer. This is the basic internet browser, so click on it to access the internet. Luckily, Tony seems to have already connected this to the tower's secure network, otherwise we'd have to do it. I'll help you through doing that if you need it elsewhere. Now, while I don't dislike Explorer, click on the address bar- that's the empty space right above the site display, next to the house shape, with the magnifying glass- and type ' .' Then press enter."
There was a pause as Steve followed Adrian's directions, "Ok?"
"Sweet, so now click in the search bar beneath the logo and type 'google chrome' and then hit enter. We're not going to download firefox since that's given me some problems in the past," Another pause, "Great, so now click on that result and then click the 'download chrome' button followed by the 'accept and install' button. Then we just have to wait for it to install."
Adrian stood once Steve had done all that before turning and freezing at the sight of Natasha standing with an amused quirk to her lips.
"Oh, hi… I was just showing Steve some of the basics of using the laptop Tony gave him, but neglected to teach him anything about."
"I noticed. It's good to see the rift between you two gone…" She leaned in and whispered, "I should warn you though, I don't think Steve feels the same for you or ever will."
"What?!" Adrian fervently whispered back, crossing his arms, "I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Really? That flirtatious touching says otherwise."
"I… Am I that obvious about it?"
"For me, certainly, but I'm trained in reading body language. I find it hard to believe that anyone other than Clint will have noticed. You are surprisingly good at manipulating your body language after all. If I hadn't seen you here relaxed with Steve, I actually wouldn't have realized your full interests," 'It's why I'm still suspicious of you. Who are you? Where did you come from? Why are you here? You're hiding something, I'm sure. I just haven't been able to figure it out yet.' "You have flirted with him a fair bit, but you also playfully flirt with Tony, so I had figured it was just your personality."
"Oh… Thanks? I guess?"
"What are you two whispering about?"
Adrian jumped at the sound coming from behind him while Natasha remained un-stirred, "Oh! Steve. Don't do that! Ms. Romanov here was just telling me that my order of 10 rolls of yarn, knitting needles, and crochet hooks arrived. I'm going to do some crocheting and knitting to make some gifts and such!" That's not a lie, his order had arrived, it's just not from Natasha that he heard it.
"Oh. Uh… I apologize."
"That's perfectly alright. Was there anything else, Natasha?"
Easily picking up the lie she spoke, "Yes, I was looking for Steve. He's late for a date." This was followed by a pointed look at Adrian.
"Date?" Steve asked, "I don't recall ever asking someone on a date."
"I set it up for you. Now go. I'll help Adrian gather his… Knitting supplies."
Steve, bewildered by the sudden turn of events stepped from the area and took the elevator down at Natasha's prodding.
"Now-"
Adrian cut off Natasha before she started interrogating him, "I actually do have to go get my supplies. They just arrived a few minutes ago."
Natasha frowned as Adrian quickly side-stepped her and also got in the elevator.
"Well that was a bust," Steve sighed walking down the small shopping district from a disastrous date. The girl was only looking for a hook-up with a superhero. Why Natasha thought she was a good woman for him, he had no idea. Even so, his mind was too filled with someone else to be interested in dating women.
"Get your prime chicken here! Whole chickens perfect for delicious meals! All the way from France! Get your Bresse Chicken butchered from free-roam french hens!"
Steve stopped at the burly woman shouting, remembering that Adrian hadn't made any plans for dinner, "How much for three?"
"48 dollars a bird, these birds are truly exquisite."
"144 Dollars?! No! I'll give you 25 each at most."
The woman was about to shout at him to buzz off before she recognized him, "You're Captain America! Captain America wants to buy my chicken! 70 dollars and a signed photo of you with the chickens and you can have them."
"Uh… Sure."
"Wonderful! This'll make my business even better! Everyone will want to buy the chickens Captain America bought! ...You won't expect me to give you a percentage, right?"
"Hmm… I'm not sure…"
"Fine! I'll send 10 percent of any profits I make from your 'advertising.' Just take the chickens!"
Steve blinked as the woman shoved the bagged chickens into his hands and pulled out a polaroid camera and took a photo with the flash on.
"Now, sign it!"
Steve quickly signed the photo when it was handed to him and walked away after giving it back. 'That was… Interesting.'
Adrian was busy looking through the cupboards when Steve walked in with some heavy-looking bags and dropped them noisily on the counter.
"I figured I would pick you up some supplies to make dinner since I didn't recall you having a plan."
"Thanks!" Adrian dug through the groceries, "Bresse Chicken! This stuff's expensive! How'd you get three?"
"I got an unexpected bargain for them by taking a picture with the chickens and signing the photo."
"Well, I suppose that works. Give me an hour and there will be a delectable meal on the table!"
Steve smiled before leaving to tell the others.
Yay! Another one up! Tell me what you peoples think! Rock on my fellow gals and guys!
