The Battlefield was impressive.
The magical portal between the Golden Realm and the Snow Realm met was a sight to be seen. Almost like one of those movies that Loki had watched with the mortals and how it seemed almost real.
However this was something different to behold. No one was on the battlefield yet of course since it was still dark. The morning would rise soon and all would be there to ride to the borderlines of the large vast place.
Looking over at the Avengers as they stood there readying themselves. The Black Widow checking her gadgets and guns before looking over at Hawkeye as he tested his bow by shooting a few into the wall. Bruce Banner seemed nervous as he shifted next to them but seemed somewhat was Iron Man. He checked the repulsers and flew around a little before landing next their leader The Captain America. With a look that two shared, a knowing of what might come of the battle, the Captain picked up his shield and placed it on his back before turning as the others gathered around him.
Thunder crackled and Loki looked up to see Thor and Balder landing and with them many well friends they had made throughout the years. Many of them. They nodded at him and Loki nodded back before turning to see his other brothers coming forth, Helbindi leading part of the army, the first of them to the front where their Father stood proud and dawned in all his glorious armor that had been used in the Great War thousands of years ago.
A large growl could be heard as Fenrir came over the hill teeth bared and ready for a hunt. He made his way over to his little mortals and nudged them a little before walking over to the him and Loki smiled as their heads pressed together and he rubbed the soft fur and sighed deeply before looking into those giant eyes.
"You do not have to go into battle, my child."
Fenrir made a gruff noise and glanced over at the Avengers before back at his Bera and his ears twitched up.
Laughing softly Loki kissed Fenrir's head. "Alright, than you have my blessing for protecting your mortal pups."
Fenrir looked smug and he sat up straight wagging his tail.
Laufey stood outside the temple before walking into the temple passed the frozen ruins that they sealed together a long to keep it from crumbling. It was an reminded of the long war that had left them alone from all the other realms and how they kept their sight from them.
As Laufey stood there gazing as the spot where he had long left Loki near the casket in hopes that his firstborn would be safe he felt a wave of fear touch him before turning and leaving the old place letting out a breath he didn't know he was holding.
Gasping softly Laufey looked up to the sky, his gold eyes bright. he time was coming and there was nothing to stop it. No such thing as reasoning with Odin once he wanted something and Norns knows he wanted to gain an even greater power. Things did not seem well for them...
If they lost... Norns, if they lost, what would happen to his people? His Family? All of them are his family. No doubt the would kill the smallborns first to stop them from having enough food to eat in the realm. Than they would just... continue.
Crossing his arms Laufey frowned deeply as he continued to stare at the sky. The gray clouds that moved with the wind seemed very lonely today. Sighing he looked down at the snow under his feet and smiled as a small laugh left his lips.
"We played here when we first met."
Looking slight over his shoulder Laufey smiled. "I remember. I recall you saying you could make a snow fort with your magic and it fell upon you and buried you."
Laughing Fárbauti walked over to his mate placing his hands on the other's shoulder. "I wondered where you had wander off too."
"I came here... I do not even know why to be honest." Looking sideways at the ruins Laufey sighed. "Just a feeling to be here, I suppose."
"Laufey."
"Hm?"
"The sun rises a hours." Fárbauti said seriously.
"I know..." Laufey drew closer. "I know this will not be an easy battle nor will any of us survive alive. We have been through so many wars and so many unsettling things so why is it now that I feel afraid to go into battle?"
"Because before we did not have a family to lose and when we did go to battle the children were young and stayed at home." Fárbauti grinned a bit. "Back when my war stories held their attention long through the nights. Now they are all grown, prepared to fight and as we have seen can hold their own against just about anyone."
"Doth not mean I worry."
"Nor I." Fárbauti agreed before he pulled back and grinned. "However, I do have this."
The object that his beloved mate had pulled out made Laufey pause. It was the war crown/helmet he had worn during the civil war between his Father and them. It was made to go over the forehead, a special magic that kept the whole head sage from an attack and yet let Laufey wear his hair down.
"I thought it was lost." Laufey said in amazement reaching out to touch it. "When the war was over and I was captured, they took it away."
"Oh they did."
"Than how did you retrieve it might I ask?"
"Actuality it was Loki who brought it up. He told me how he saw it in your memories and asked about it. When I had told him that it was long gone or maybe saved as a trophy he took off and later returned with it. When I inquired of where he had found it he gave me a mischievous smile and walked away."
"Loki is mysterious as much as he is an open book." Laufey smiled taking the object and turned it this way and that with a smile. "It was such a long time ago... We were so young when we started our fight. Hardly grown at all... still children almost."
"I agree and yet despite all those hard times I do remember the good and the joys we had."
"As do I, Fárbauti." Laufey smiled before carefully placing the crown on his head. "The same fit... however I fear that my face has aged much since the last I wore it."
"Never." Fárbauti cupped Laufey's face with that same grin he wore as a child. "No matter what, no matter time, no matter if one day we grow old and brittle and die because our children forgot to check on us,"
"How lovely..."
"I shall still see you as the moment we fell in love with each other."
"We were only children."
"I recall doing such things that weren't exactly childlike activities."
A smile appeared before they stood there for a long moment before Fárbauti moved away taking Laufey by the hand with him. They walked around the ruins until they stopped at a familiar sight and for a moment Laufey thought he had gone back in time.
"Is that...?"
"Our first home." Fárbauti looked proud as he opened the door only to have it jam for moment before opening all the way. "Hm, never did get around to fixing that."
"If you tighten the ropes there it should hold well."
"Let's see... Ah ha, so it does."
Walking into the house Laufey looked over it. "It's just as I remember it."
"Small?"
"Perfect." Laufey smiled at him. "Never doubt your work, Fárbauti. This house, not matter the size, is and always will be my favorite home."
"I am glad to hear that you loved it so."
"Always. Although I do remember that we never did finish the extension for the children's bedrooms."
"Ah, yes. I believe that was interrupted by war."
"Indeed." Laufey frowned remember the looming war only hours away. "Well, I think we should head back-"
Something cold hit Laufey on his cheek causing him to gasp in surprise before looking stunned at his mate who was chucking and grinning as he held up another snowball and was slowly circling the table.
"You did not just do that!" Laufey hissed. "We are preparing for war-! Stop it! Do you dare do that again-! That's it!"
Bellowing with laughter Fárbauti dodge a snowball coming his way. Tossing another one he was hit in the face with a fairly large snowball and laughter followed it. They took over on either side of the large table and continued to throw snow at each other until it stopped.
Looking around Laufey paused before carefully going around with a snowball cupped carefully in his hand and jumped around to throw it when he saw that his mate wasn't there. Surprised he turned around looking for him but Fárbauti was nowhere. Frowning Laufey carefully crept around searching for him.
Going towards next room Laufey peeked in. Where was he? Did he go outside or maybe he... oh no! Turning around Laufey's eyes widened as Fárbauti rushed at him grabbing the slighter Jotun and pinned him onto the old furs.
"No...!" Laufey shouted but his voice was filled with laughter. "You cheated!"
"All is fair in love and war so I have heard!" Fárbauti grinned down athim. "Admit it, I have won!"
"Alright, alright, your brute, you've won!" Laufey sighed laying back. "I should have know your would pull that trick."
"It worked so well, why change it?"
"Hmm," Laufey reached up to pulled him down and pressed their lips together. "How is it you can make me forget the looming so easily?"
"I suppose I'm just charming is all." Fárbauti looking at Laufey lovingly. "Laufey... I love you with all my soul."
"I love you as well... more than you can ever know."
a long moment passed before shared their love in their old home for the last time.
As Loki stood there on the mount watching as the sun started to rise he couldn't help but feel a forbidding shadow growing in his heart.
To pallyndrome: Your welcome and I'm glad you love this story.
To Okumura-Ichigo: Loki just needed to give them a little push and play matchmaker lol
To masterjediratgrl31: Things are but hopefully I can get over it and at least writting stories calms things in RL so, hooray! lol, good luck Loki.
To Silvermane1: Why thank you 8D
To thatcrazyjellyfish: I had a lot of feelings when I was witting them and Loki together to hug him and I do love Laufey and Fárbauti together and them being a family. Loki just needed to gie his brothers a push since they couldn't on their own. The war is going to be in the next chapter or two and hopefully they makes it out alive.
To kyuumihaira: He finally had the courage to talk to Ran thanks to Loki. The markings are almost gone hooray!
To fan girl 66: Thank you 8D
To vampygurl402: Updated!
To Luc16: Aww, that's nice and yes I know. I have no one to beta but I do try my best to go back and correct things. 8D
