Chapter 5 - Coming in Hot
No POV:
The weeks following the New Year had been some of the best in the young lover's lives. Cat cooked more food than Tori could eat on her own. The result being movie night for the final three days before their holiday ended. Cat had invited all of their friends and family to join in on the fun. Both of the girls were glad to have someone to cuddle with during Jade's turn to pick the movies. When the credits had started playing on Furious 7(Andre's final pick for the marathon), Tori started to tear up; she couldn't remember a time she was happier. As the gang started to collect their movies and say their goodbyes they noticed the tears falling down her face. Starting with Cat, the group began to pull her into a group hug. The last to join being Jade, who begrudgingly wraps her arms around the group.
"I'm sorry guys", Tori whispered. "I just realized how happy I am now. And then I thought about how soon graduation is from now."
"Vega, as much as it burns me to say this", Jade smirked, turning from the group picking up her trademark coffee "There's no way you're shaking us. You're dating Cat and we're all aspiring actors and such."
"And the fact that you're dating Trina, right", Cat asked. Giggling when Jade started to blush.
"Cat, you weren't supposed to tell anyone yet. Especially with us all in the same room"
"The way I see it that's the best time to tell us girl", Andre declared. Beck and Robbie nodding in agreement with him.
"Yeah, besides you guys all knew about Cat wanting to ask me out. And I've know about you and Trina since New Years", Tori smiled. Cat adding in. "She has a point Jadey"
Jade sighed in defeat and the group teased her momentarily until the goth brandished her scissors, with a smirk. They called it a night shortly after that. While the rest of the gang left Tori, Cat and Jade remained at the Vega home. Trina arrived as the group was leaving. Slightly confused with all of them wishing her luck in the future.
"What was that all about", she asked as she sat on the couch.
"Well let's just say that our secret rendezvous has not been as secret as before", Jade confessed.
"So like everyone knows now", Trina said with a blank look on her face.
"Um ,yeah.." Trina hopped on Jade cutting her off with a kiss.."Good I've been sick of sneaking kisses fro the past month."
"Hey do you guys mind taking that somewhere else?"
"Go take Cat for ice cream or something, Tori", Trina exclaimed. "Jade and I have a lot of lost time we're making up for."
Tori grabbed Cat's hand and yanked her along out of the house. Not stopping until the reached the end of the drive way. Both pairs of girls giggling at what just happened.
Present day:
"I still remember the ice cream that day. It was a few weeks before they replaced it with that frozen yogurt place."
"It took us forever to get you in that place after they changed it", Tori stated.
"I know. It was the day after graduation", Cat replied.
12 Years Ago:
The shock of Trina and Jade as a couple had died down a few weeks after they officially came out to Beck, Andre and Robbie. In the days that led up to graduation the gang had back to back movie nights each member bringing a different series each night. Jade opened it up with the Scissoring movies since Tori claimed that they might as well get them out of the way first. Which the majority of the group agreed. Although it was just Tori's excuse to get a little handsy with Cat when everyone else was busy watching the gory, horror movies. On night two Beck and Andre combined their picks so they could watch the Mission Impossible movies. The girls fell asleep halfway through the second one as Beck, Andre, Robbie and Mr. Vega(who joined the group after he got home from his shift) powered through to the morning. On night three Robbie brought the Lord of the Rings movies Mr. Vega joining once again. The next night Trina surprised the group by bringing down her collector's edition of Star Wars to watch. On Tori's night her and Cat brought the Harry Potter movies to everyone's delight.
"Hey, kids mind hanging around for one more showing", Holly Vega asked when the gang was saying their good nights to each other.
"Sure mom, what do you have", Tori replied for everyone.
"Just something your father and I have been putting together in our free time", she smiled at them all as she presented a blank disc inserting it in to the DVD player.
They all smiled as they heard the opening notes of 'Make it Shine'. Once the vocals started a slideshow of pictures started each one chronicling a different part of the gang's time at Hollywood Arts. Ranging from Tori's audition to the Prome to Cat asking Tori out to Tori finally getting her license , even having pictures of Jade and Trina walking hand in hand into Hollywood Arts the day they told everyone. As it ended everyone thanked Holly and David for taking the time to make the slideshow. Leaving shortly after, except Tori, Cat, Jade and Trina who went upstairs with their respective partners calling it a night.
Graduation Day:
This was the most important day of Tori Vega's life and she was running late. She was supposed to be at the school 45 minutes ago and she was having no luck. Her car wouldn't start, her phone calls were being ignored as the ceremonies had been underway for nearly an hour. Tori was almost out of options until her car engine finally turned over and she sped out of the driveway cursing herself for not riding along with Trina and her parents. Ten minutes later she was running to the Black Box Theater putting her gown and cap on praying that her heels wouldn't break. She was almost to the door when she ran into someone. As her eyes focused on the person in question she smiled ear to ear.
"Fancy seeing you here", Cat said with a perfect southern accent. "Victoria Vega, right"
"Yep, but it's Tori to pretty girls like you", she replied using the accent that Jade uses with her. "Catarina Valentine."
"See I knew you talked like that", Jade said walking up with Trina. "So Vega what took you so long? Cat wouldn't let them start on the Vs until you got here."
"I only talk like that sometimes", she admitted. "My car wouldn't start and no one was answering my calls. I'm just lucky it started when it did or I might have missed today altogether."
"I told you that you should have rode with us, sis", Trina smirked. "But we all know you and your entrances."
"I was not trying to make an entrance", she replied putting her arm around Cat. "I was going to try to surprise Cat before the ceremony started. But it seems that she surprised everyone else. Did you really make them stop the ceremony?"
"Yep, I wasn't graduating if you weren't here."
"Well what do you say we all go graduate", Tori gives Cat a kiss and they all enter the Black Box.
"So kind of you to join us Toro", Sikowitz stated with a chuckle. "Cat, wouldn't let u-"
"Finish the ceremony. I know and I'm sorry everyone."
"But now that you're here let us continue. Now would Catarina Valentine come up next please", Sikowitz handed Cat her diploma. Tori and Cat embraced after Cat came down from the stage. "Victoria Vega."
Tori went up to receive her diploma. Shortly after Jade got her diploma and the faculty gave their departing words of wisdom for the graduating students. Once the ceremony was over the gang met back up in the Vega's backyard. Spending one last day as high school students. Ready for the challenges and rewards that were sure to come in their futures. Tori pulled Cat to the side towards the end of the night. Having just received some exciting news that she knew she had to share with Cat.
"Tori, why are we leaving everyone else out there?"
"Because there was a reason I didn't ride with my family this morning. I finally got the call today. UCLA finally accepted me so we're going to school together again."
"That's great news, Tori", Cat squealed. "All of us are going to the same school again."
"Well almost all of us. Remember Beck's going back to Canada for a year and Robbie's going to New York."
"That's right. But we'll still all be thick as thieves", Cat replied, the sun setting behind her prompted Tori to snap a picture of her girlfriend's silhouette in the red, purple and yellow of the sunset.
Present Day:
"Sometimes I still think that you were just trying to make a Tori Vega entrance and just lost track of time that morning", Cat smirked as set the picture of her in the sunset down.
"No, believe me there was no way that could have been planned", Tori chuckled. Filling their glasses back up. "Remember me trying to surprise you for your birthday that one year?"
"Yeah, it was fun."
"That's the only time one of my plans worked the way I planned it"
"You planned to fall off of the boat?"
"You said you wouldn't mention it ever again", Tori said with a shudder.
"It was just a tuna, Tori", Cat winked at her.
