Chapter 11 - The Next Step We Take
No POV(10 years ago):
Tori Vega couldn't help but smile as she woke. Today was the start of the rest of her life. As she looked around her room noticing the absence of Cat. She had opted to get a hotel room with Jade. Tori had volunteered to get the hotel with Trina; but Cat had told her that she didn't want to send Tori away. Which was sweet but Tori pointed out that she would be doing the same thing to Cat. In the end Tori conceded, knowing that the redhead was determined to do this. She smiled wide when she looked at the garment bag hanging on her closet door. The Latina hopped up out of bed and turned on her shower. As the water was heating up, Tori couldn't help but to let out a joyful squeal paired with a happy dance. Once steam started fogging up the mirror she disrobed and hopped in.
Across the city, Cat had already showered and had her hair and makeup done. Jade had offered to help her, which she kindly declined. Stating that she wanted to do it herself, something about today being her best work yet. The goth had just shrugged and went back to teasing Trina about the cute girl at the check-in desk of the hotel. About a half an hour later, the redhead emerged she had thrown on a shirt and shorts so they could head over to the venue.
"Damn Cat, I think you were right about that being your best work", Jade smirked as Cat giggled.
"Do you think Tori will like it?"
"Like it? Cat that girl is going to love it."
"I know. I just feel like I'm going to mess it up, y'know", Cat stated.
"You're not going to mess it up", Jade took a deep breath. "As much as it pains me to say this I will. There's no possible way that you or Vega are going to screw this up. You two are made for each other. We've all know it since you guys went on your first date. So you guys have nothing to worry about. I just hope that Trina and I can work as well as Tori and you."
"That was the nicest thing you've ever said Jadey", Cat pulled Jade in to a hug that had the goth wondering where the redhead had been hiding this strength.
"I'll allow it this one time", Jade huffed and hugged her best friend back. "Now how about we get to HA. It would be a shame if one of the brides didn't show up on time for her own wedding."
Cat nodded in agreement and Jade grabbed her keys and they left the room. Only for Cat to burst back in the room to grab the garment bag that was hanging on the curtain rod and bolting out of the door as fast as she had entered.
Later - Hollywood Arts(No POV):
It had only felt right to the pair to have their wedding at the place that they had first met, Hollywood Arts. It took a bit of convincing to get Helen to allow it; all it took was having Jade ask her in the end. When it came to finding someone to officiate the wedding everyone turned to Sikowitz. He had gotten ordained a few years prior to make his trips down to San Francisco more entertaining. When Cat and Jade arrived they were told that Tori had gone to one of the many dressing rooms in the school. With an hour left until the guests would start to show up Cat dragged Jade off with her to get ready.
While Cat was getting ready, Tori had just finished up getting her dress on. David had entered the room to inform them of Cat's arrival when he stopped dead in his tracks. It had finally become real to him. His daughter was getting married today; he would be handing off his baby girl today. The little girl that would insist on going everywhere with him rather than Holly; for the simple reason that he had a gun and could keep her safe. He wiped a tear that had started to run down his right cheek and cleared his throat.
"Cat just got here. She's in the room down the hall", David smiled. "Sikowitz is also here and I confiscated his bag of coconuts like you asked me to."
"Thanks dad, I really don't need him to go off on a coconut vision halfway through the service", Tori chuckled and then gave Trina a tap on the shoulder. "Why don't you go give Cat and Jade a hand. Mom's got it from here."
"Sure thing, sis. No crying because then I'll have to do your face all over again", Trina smirked and slipped out of the room.
"So this is really happening", Tori stated calmly. "I thought we'd never make it to this."
"Well Tori it shows how much love you two have for each other", Holly smiled. "I mean if we're being completely honest here, your father and I were convinced that Trina and Jade were going to kill each other but look at them now. Sure we all need ear plugs on the weekend but that's just love."
"Ew, mom. I don't need that image in my mind when I'm walking down the aisle."
"I'm just glad that I work nights on the weekends", David chuckled.
Cat's dressing room:
After a few touch-ups to her make-up, Cat had gotten into her dress with the help of Jade. The tow had been sitting down talking when Trina slipped into the room.
"So what are you pretty ladies doing", Trina smiled.
"Oh, you know nothing really I'm just getting married to the love of my life", Cat said dreamily.
"Alright, Red get it together and save that passion for the honeymoon."
"Oh, I will", Cat smirked.
"Okay, if I'm staying in this room no more talking about getting freaky with my sister", Trina stated. "We have to hear it all of the time."
"Wait you guys haven't invested in earplugs like me, Tori and your mom."
"Earplugs? I thought we were just getting better at being quiet."
"Hate to break it to you, Treen", Jade smirked. "But even I get a headache after we have sex. I just think of it as a gift."
"That's sweet but you could have told me that I was disturbing the house."
"And get rid of their drinking game. That would be the worst thing I could do."
"Drinking game?"
"Did I say drinking game? I meant their game of Monopoly. You know how your sister is when it comes to that", Trina was about to reply when there was a knock at the door and Holly poked her head in.
"It's time girls."
Hollywood Arts Black Box Theater:
The guests were all seated, Sikowitz was standing at the altar that had been built on the stage. Andre was by the stage with his keyboard waiting for the signal to start playing. Trina and Jade had come out stand on Tori's and Cat's sides respectively. Jade looked down to Andre nodding; he started to play his keyboard. As the music started to make it's way through the theater, Cat and Tori made their way to the altar. Tori, of course had her father walking her down the aisle. While Cat had Beck walking her down the aisle. Her parents had been unable to attend due to an issue that had to do with her brother. It didn't really bother the redhead. She had spent most her her life taking care of herself due to her brother's conditions. When the two women were standing face to face at the altar; they were struggling to not cry and kiss each other. They had fantasized about their wedding ever since their first anniversary. Now that it was here, the dream wedding felt inferior to the ceremony they were having now. Jade looked down to Andre and nodded again; this time signaling him to stop playing. Sikowitz stepped forward looking back and forth between his former students, smiling ear to ear.
"Dearly beloved", he began. "We are here to celebrate the glorious union of Victoria Vega and Catarina Valentine. Now I have had the pleasure of knowing these two amazing women for the better part of a decade. And I think that anyone else who knows them would agree with me that the love between these two is everlasting. Now I understand that you both have written your own vows. Tori would you like to begin?"
"Cat, I did write vows for today. But every time I read them over I felt like I was cheapening my love for you", Tori smiled softly. "I remember the day I came to Hollywood Arts. After Jade dumped coffee on my head, you came and found me. You helped clean me up and asked me to never tell Jade because she would tie you to your locker by your hair. Which over the years I've found out that was just a fib on your part. You just wanted to keep that moment between us for as long as you could. For a month after that day I always thought of that on the way to... well here. So I just want to say thank you for the time you've given me up until today and thank you for the rest of our lives."
"You kinda took the words out of my mouth, Tori. Except the whole coffee story. I wasn't expecting that", the redhead giggled. "But Tori, you have given me the best years of my life so far. I'm not just thankful to you but to your family for taking me in when my brother's condition started to get worse. And Mr. and Mrs. Vega, I'm sorry that you guys haven't been able to shake us or Jade and Trina. What can I say, it's fun living with you guys. But now back to you Tori. I never thought that when I asked you out in this very theater, that we would be here nearly four years later getting married. I love you, Tori. I'll never stop loving you."
"That was very beautiful ladies", Sikowitz spoke up. "Now who has the rings. Ah, Jade thank you. Now Tori repeat after me. 'I, Victoria give to you Catarina this ring, as a symbol of my commitment to love, honor and respect you."
"I, Victoria give to you Catarina this ring, as a symbol of my commitment to love, honor and respect you", Tori slides the ring onto her finger.
"Now Cat, repeat after me. I, Catarina give to you Victoria this ring, as a symbol of my commitment to love, honor and respect you."
"I, Catarina give to you Victoria this ring, as a symbol of my commitment to love, honor and respect you", Cat slides the ring onto Tori's finger.
"Now it is my pleasure to pronounce you wife and wife. You may now kiss your bride."
Tori pulled Cat towards her, immediately kissing her. The sounds of applause and Jade wolf-whistling were nearly silent to the newly weds. It's as if the passion of the kiss had sent them to another dimension. When they had finally pulled away from each other they looked around at everyone. Taking in what today truly meant to them. As they were leaving to drive over to the reception, the girls tossed their bouquets behind them. Everyone laughing when the crowd separated and both Jade and Andre had caught one. Andre then proceeded to try and hand off the bouquet to someone else.
Present Day:
"You know everyone didn't believe us when we said that we weren't going on a honeymoon", Tori chuckled.
"I know. But we had told everyone that we weren't going on one for a couple of weeks before the wedding."
"The thing that still gets me is Andre catching and then trying to pass off the bouquet."
"Yep, it didn't work because three months later we were at his and Beck's wedding and four months after that we attended Trina and Jade's wedding."
"I still feel bad that we couldn't attend Robbie's wedding to that co-star of his on that sitcom he worked on."
"I mean we tried to move stuff around but I was doing the costumes on that Marvel movie and you and Jade were working on that horror movie. It just didn't fit in our schedules. But he also could have sent us the invites by mail rather than fly them by drone.
Tori laughed so loud that she dropped the disk that was in her hand labeled Kori Vega-Valentine.
A/N: Thanks for being so patient with me when I wrote this chapter. This is probably the sixth version of the chapter. I couldn't decide what I wanted to include in this chapter. I teased it at the end of this chapter, so next chapter we bring baby number one into the world. Who carried it? You'll have to tune in next time to find out. Thanks for reading and I'll see you guys next chapter. Also if you guys are able to, check out Titans on the DC streaming service. It surprised me with how good it was.
