Hi readers. Yeah I know I've been gone for a while but my exams were going on and with all the tuition I barely have much time. Now I'm finally here to finish this story. Enjoy the epilogue.
1 Year Later
It was one of the bright mornings of spring. The wind carried the scent of fresh leaves, flowers and fruits. Birds chirped with delight as they settled in their new home. The atmosphere was filled with freshness and lightness. It was a morning perfect for two people to tie the knot.
In this wonderful morning right next to the Fall an aisle was set up with a beautiful white carpet between about 10 white benches and it led to the platform, which is made into an altar, that again gave them the astonishing view of the water going down between greenery and the field which now bloomed with wild flowers and butterflies. The altar had a mass of silky white curtains covering it on three sides, which slowly moved with the air that reflected a sense of innocence. The flowers embedded on the rails colored the set into looking like a painting.
There were about 16 people sitting on the benches. They were all talking about their excitement for the couple, as every one of them was familiar with each other. 3 men were standing on the altar along with the priest who was going through the Bible. One of the men was the groom and the other two were his best man. Unlike the others the groom was impatient about seeing his gorgeous soon to be wife in her beautiful wedding dress. Although he would still think she is beautiful even if she wore a potato sack.
His waiting ended when the music started indicating her arrival. Even though only the closest friends were invited, they maintained the tradition of standing up and falling silent. Damon stood upright over the altar while his best men, Stefan and Alaric assembled down the aisle where they would escort the maid of honors along the path to the altar.
The first maid of honor, Bonnie came and was escorted by Alaric. With a graceful feel, her gold metallic lace and tulle tea-length bridesmaid dress practically floated down the aisle. The skinny spaghetti straps and the V-neck complete the ballerina vibe. Her hair was down in her natural short curls with a simple flower crown embedded with small white and pink flowers.
Next came the second maid of honor, Caroline escorted by Stefan. She wore quartz colored high-low satin sleeveless bridesmaid dress with a semi-sweetheart neckline. It had a fresh silhouette with bow pleats and offered the glamour of a ball gown with a touch of fun. Her hair was also down in curls and she also wore a similar head crown with purple and white flowers. They both looked amazing, but nothing compared to his angel escorted by her brother.
She never looked more like an angel. Her soft white sleeveless jewel lace and tulle dress fitted her perfectly. The lace-appliqued high illusion neckline and back of the lace and tulle gown added a delicate and romantic essence to its sleek mermaid silhouette. Then the button-back closure provided the modern silhouette with timeless elegance. She also let her waves fall back over her shoulder and wore a white embellished edge-walking veil. The marvelous fairytale tiara of his mother, that he gave to Bonnie in order for her to have something old and borrowed, completed her perfect appearance. It featured swirling loops of tiny diamonds over the silver metal and in the middle was the big diamond. It looked beautiful on her just like it did on his mother and all the other Salvatore women. However what made her shine out to him was that smile and the twinkle of love and joy in her brown eyes, the ones he will never get tired of seeing.
Their eyes were locked throughout the whole walk to the altar. It was like she couldn't get to him any slower. She wanted to be with him more than anything in this world. She wanted to stand in that beautiful altar holding his hands and look straight into his eyes while she vowed to be his and he vowed to be hers.
When she finally reached the altar he came down to take her delicate hands in his. His eyes twinkled as he leaned down and pressed a soft kiss on the back of her hand. She gave the bouquet of flower to Bonnie as he led her up. They both smiled at each other in the outmost delight and clutched each other's hand tightly. The priest motioned for everyone to be seated and cleared his voice before starting his speech.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we've gathered here…" the priest continued to say the same old speech while the two of them just stared at each other like it was just them in this beautiful setup. They were sharing all sorts of words with no language in particular. Just with the wind it touched each other.
"I believe it's time for Damon to say his vows… Damon? Damon?" He came out of his trace after hearing the priest.
"Um…sorry." From the crowd there was slight snorts and chuckle coming since all of them knew this couple for nearly a year. They knew how easy it was for them to black out with each other.
"You're vows please." The priest said again.
He looked back at Elena who was still inheriting her beautiful smile as she held his deep eye contact. He mumbled 'Here it goes' before starting. "Elena Gilbert, two years ago when you came into my life, I knew that we had a special connection. And as each day pass, the connection becomes stronger and stronger. Before you I couldn't comprehend the idea of feeling this much love and adoration towards someone. I was just a broken toy, but you fixed me. You make me feel happy, joyous, cared, loved and sometimes angry and crazy and I cannot ask for anything else for the journey we call life. Lastly I promise to support you, cherish you, comfort you, be your punching bag, and be yours forever and not be apart from you ever again. Because Elena Gilbert, a life without you seems like a horror story. "
By the time he finished his speech, a lone tear slide down her flawless cheeks, which were swelled up due to the biggest smile present on her face. In that moment he just wanted to pull her tight and kiss her. But the priest interrupted.
"Elena, your vows?"
She straightened her back and let out a deep sigh before starting her speech. "Damon Salvatore, you are the love of my life and my kryptonite. You make me complete in ways I can only imagine. Every laugh, every touch, every kiss, every argument and every fight is like a journey in a roller coaster of emotion and intimacy. The moment I saw your eyes I had a feeling that you will be a huge part of my life, because for the first I saw someone who truly understands me. So I fell. And I fell hard for you. All I want now is to be yours forever. And I promise to make sure that you know that you are my one and only." Such words of love were enough to melt the hearts of everyone. Damon grinned like an idiot as some tears were threatening to spill with his heart beating a thousand miles per hour.
"Now I request the ring bearers to come forth with the ring." The priest said with the kind smile on his face. Stefan and Caroline approached them with the box where the rings were nestled in. Both of them took the ring out of the box with shaky hands as they looked back at each other with excitement.
"Damon Salvatore with this ring,do you take Elena Gilbert as your lawful wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and cherish until death do you part?"
"I do." He said in a low intimate tone that reached straight into her heart. She gave out a sigh of happiness when his quivering hands placed the platinum wedding band on her equally quivering finger. It matched perfectly with the engagement ring she's been wearing for a year now.
She looked back at his loving eyes when it was her turn. "Elena Gilbert, with this ring,do you take Damon Salvatore as your lawful husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and cherish until death do you part?"
"I do." Her voice shakes as she gave out her final answer. She pushed the ring down his finger through hazy eyes. They were finally bound to each other.
"With the power invested in me by the state of Virginia, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
He didn't waste one second before locking his lips with hers in the sweetest, loving and intimate kiss. It was the ultimate step and with that they sealed the deal.
The clutched their hands tight while descending down the altar, while the crowd cheered in happiness. On the first bench their one-year-old daughter was in Vicki's arm clapping with her chubby little arms. Damon couldn't help but go towards his sweet angel. He took her in his arm and then held Elena's hand tight again. In that moment he knew that nothing could steal this life from him.
The reception was held on the Salvatore garden, where there were delicious foods, alcohol served by a bartender from the Grill and a stage where the DJ played their favorite song. The stage also consisted of a piano, much like the one in the library and a guitar. Again this setting was also beautiful with the soothing spring breeze flowing. The afternoon was not too hot, but not too cold, just the perfect temperature.
After consuming the food, it was time for the couple's first dance. Unlike most of the wedding songs for the first dance, the song they chose wasn't a slow romantic song. It was playful and loving at the same time with the upbeat country music. They chose Gone Gone Gone by Phillip Phillips. Both of them giggled and laughed as they danced around the dance floor to the lively music, with jolly twirls and dips. All the people surrounding them soon started joining, as it was hard not to dance to such song.
They only invited people who they knew close to their heart. None of Damon's big clients or coworkers was there, except Ric. No media, no long-distanced relative just an intimate gathering of a total of 20 people they meet and share their time with, 20 of their closest friend.
Besides Stefan, Caroline, Bonnie and Alaric there was Klaus, Camille, Matt, Penny, Vicki, Jeremy, Jenna and Enzo. Then Miss Flowers, who kept her eyes on Sarah and Lucy.
Some more people they met over the one-year period, like Lexi and her husband Lee. Lexi was Damon's classmate in High School in Mystic Falls. In High School they barely knew each other. Lexi was always into her grades and study, while Damon was being the bad boy. However, Lexi happened to still be in Mystic Falls and work in The Mystic Falls General Hospital. Her cheerful enthusiastic characteristic helped the couples find a friend in her along with her husband.
Next came Hayley, Elena's high school best friend. Elena never really talked about her High School days because she was anti-social. However it turns out she did have one close friend with whom she lost connection with once she got into college. But upon her return, Hayley came bearing gifts.
Lastly there was Liv and Luke, the twins. They were their neighbors and Luke works with Elena in the High School she teaches Literature in. He also happened to have a crush on Damon. Liv is Damon's favorite bartender, who always listens to his drunken banter if Elena drives him crazy, but when he gets too boozed up, she calls Elena to pick him up. This was main reason why both of them love her so much.
In the middle of dancing with Caroline and Bonnie, Elena noticed that her husband was no longer on the dance floor. Confused she looked around for him, only to find him standing on the stage in front of the piano. Since the moment she saw the piano, she hoped that Damon would play it, instead of some other musician. Now she couldn't wait to hear her husband sing in front of the small crowd.
She was staring at him as he settled himself in front of the mike and the piano. His eyes caught hers and he gave her the heart-stopping warm smile. Just then the music slowly came to a halt, and everyone was forced to look at the stage. When they saw him on the stage some were shocked and others were delighted. Damon only sang before Elena and Stefan, so it was a big step for him.
The DJ spoke, "Now everyone let's give it up for the groom, who will sing a beautiful song dedicated to his wife. The stage is now yours, Mr. Salvatore." All the people cheered in encouragement, while Elena just stared at him with love-struck expression.
With one final gaze towards her, he started playing the pianos creating the most harmonious music. But the moment he closed his eyes and opened his mouth, the world stopped.
All through the night, I'll be awake and I'll be with you All through the night, this precious time, when time is new
All, all through the night today, knowing that we feel
The same, without saying, the same without saying
We have no past we won't reach back
Keep with me forward all through the night
And once we start a meter clicks
And it goes running all through the night
Until it ends, there is no end
Keep with me forward all through the night…
With the last words leaving his mouth, he opened his eyes to look into the glossy eyes of Elena. Through their eyes they knew how each other felt, without saying.
After going through so much trouble, they were found in each other's embrace. They spent every waking hours feeling each other's presence in the air. Swimming in the love glowing in the eyes. They built a family based on that love. They together found their own unique happy ending.
A happy ending where they got everything they ever wanted. A love that consumed them, a passion and adventure even a little danger. Suddenly it was all worth it. The pain. The sorrow. Because of it every day the world gets to witness a man and a woman in love for the rest of their short but beautiful life.
END
I honestly have no words. I know I went missing for such a long time. I have a very good reason though. You see I'm brown. So if you have watched Lily Singh's videos you would at least get an idea how brown moms are. Especially 6 months before Exams.
However I did finish it. I wrote like 2000 more words but had to delete them all because the plot would've been getting too big and I honestly didn't want to drag it further.
So adieus. Make sure to review, favourite and follow. There's a high chance of me showing up after June 2019. Hopefully some of you would still be interested in Delena.
For now Buh-Bye.
