I wish I did…

"Congratulations Kiyomi!" We all sang together.

Kiyomi was my little sister. She turned 4 today and me, Shisui, Izuna, Tamaki and Izumi were celebrating it with her. It was also a great way to get your mind off of things, such as the battle we just returned from.

The gap between our age was big I was ten years older than Kiyomi adding up with my former age, I could be her mother. It felt like that as if I was her mother. My new mother had passed away during Kiyomi's birth and my father died shortly after in battle. Father was really depressed so his death didn't come to us as a shock.

Me and Shisui have been taking care of her ever since and when we were out fighting she would stay at the orphanage.

Kiyomi was like this little bundle of innocence, always happy and kind. She was easy to like and Izuna even got her to call him big brother.

Shisui always seemed rather distant with her, I didn't know why. When he was needed he would come but he would never play with Kiyomi or even talk about something casual.

"Give your big brother a hug!" Izuna grinned opening his arms.

"Yay!" Kiyomi ran towards Izuna and jumped on his waist making them both fall down. Izuna landed with his head on the wall and a silence fell in the room.

"Izu-nii are you alright!?" Kiyomi asked terrified. Her black eyes widened tears ready to fall.

"Of course I am fine. I am the indestructible Izuna Uchiha." He laughed off rubbing the back of his neck.

Kiyomi sniffed. "Doesn't your head hurt?"

"No no no, of course it doesn't." He said shushing her.

"As if there is anything in it to get hurt." Shisui joked.

Izuna pouted and looked away. We laughed at his expression.

"Well Kiyomi, here is your gift." Izuna handed over a box wrapped in white paper.

Kiyomi's face lit up like the sun and she unwrapped it quickly. She held it up with a questioning face.

''What is it?" she asked. She was holding a kunai holster. A shot of anger flew through my body, how dared he give that to Kiyomi. She was still a kid.

A comforting squeeze made me shut my mouth, I looked to the side and saw Shisui staring back at me.

I signed in defeat.

"That is a kunai holster imouto." Shisui explained. Kiyomi still didn't seem to understand it. "Something in which you put your kunai in, your strap it around your leg."

I could see she still didn't understand it but she just nodded anyway.

"Do you like it?" Izuna asked.

She nodded and smiled. "Of course."

"Would you like my gift now?" Tamaki asked.

Tamaki became one of my closest friends. Shisui and I lived more separated lives now. We were in different squads and at home the only time we spent together was during dinner and training. I was mainly taking care of Kiyomi and her regular education, because of it I didn't have much time left. I couldn't handle that me and Shisui were so much apart now, we used to be so close.

It just happened when Kiyomi came. He avoided me like the pest.

I filled my spare time training with Ren. He was Madara's oldest brother and currently the second in command of the clan. He was also my current squad leader. I have been under his command for four years now and I am currently with him the only one left of the original squad.

Ren was easy to be around with and never pried too much. He was talented and never minded me there even though I was five years younger. He was what I would call my current best friend. It sounds weird but being with somebody for three months on the battlefield and seeing them every day at the compound gave you a strong bond.

"Yes yes yes!" Kiyomi looked at him in anticipation. He handed her over a small katana, it was not wrapped. Small blue butterfly's were painted on the handle and she looked in awe at them.

"So pretty." She muttered, her mouth falling a bit open.

Tamaki ruffled her hair and grinned. "You're welcome."

Kiyomi looked up and smiled. "Thank you."

"Well now it is time for my gift." Izumi spoke.

Izumi is the perfect description of femininity. She had long straight black hair, pale skin, long lashes, red painted lips and big breasts. She wore revealing clothes without giving the feeling that she was a whore. She was flirty with every guy she met even a couple girls. She was four years older and I think she saw me somewhat as an apprentice. She is a trained spy and she recently forced me into learning the way of a woman.

"It is so pretty!" Kiyomi beamed. She was holding a crimson kimono with white butterfly's on the side.

I leaned towards Shisui. "I am going for a short walk." I whispered.

He nodded and turned his attention back towards out guest. I sneaked my way out of the room and quickly walked out of the house.

I sat down facing Ren. "Do you have the scrolls?" I asked.

Ren signed and frowned. "What are you planning on doing with them anyway?"

"There is something I want to know and these scrolls might bring me closer to it." I answered rubbing my nose.

"Well I see no harm in giving them, but if it were to harm the clan –"

"I know you won't hesitate to kill me." I interrupted him.

He rubbed his neck. "Okay, just to make sure."

He handed me over four worn out scrolls. The scrolls held tomoe's on the side.

Ren ran his hand through his messy black hair. "You just need to find a way to open them."

I sipped my tea. "I can manage." A shill ran up my spine and I closed my Kimono shirt further.

"See the guys up there." Ren signalled with his head. "They have been watching us ever since we entered the place. Most likely bounty hunters, no clan would be dumb enough to enter so far into Uchiha territory."

I looked over my shoulder. Two cloaked figures were sitting in the corner of the tea house. I turned back towards Ren. "Can you see their weapons?"

Ren activated his sharingan for a brief moment. "The one facing us with his back is two handed with swords, the other has an axe under his cloak."

I nodded. "Can we handle them?"

"Yes, even if we had trouble it wouldn't take long before other Shinobi come to help us." Ren sat up. "Let's go they will probably follow us."

I followed Ren out of the tea store and could see the bounty hunters following us from a distance. Ren let us towards a dark alley just wide enough for a taijutsu match.

We turned around and the guys were facing us.

Ren his eyes narrowed. "Who are you after?" Ren demanded.

The one with the axe pulled his hood off. A tanned face with a scar on his cheek was revealed. He smirked at us and played with his axe. "Ren Uchiha, heir of the Uchiha clan and second in command. You are worth quite a lot, not as much as your brother but you will do."

Ren and I pulled out a kunai and went in defensive stances.

"And who might that little boy be?"

"I am a girl!" I snapped back angry.

He smirked and stepped closer. "Not a very pretty one, but most men don't care any way."

I glared at him. I knew I wasn't the prettiest in the compound and puberty was not very good on me. I practically didn't have any breast and was a skinny stick with only muscles covering it. My short hair on top of that didn't help.

"Bastard." I muttered.

Ren sprinted towards the one with the axe, their blades clashing. The other hunter made a move towards Ren and I quickly threw kunai's at him to divert his attention. I body flickered towards him and our blades clashed. I kicked him in the side, sending him away. I went for the final blow when his body turned into a log. I jumped away just on time to see his blade on the place where I stood seconds ago. I looked up and saw him coming down towards me, I stepped aside and pierced his side with shuriken.

He couched up some blood and when he was about to stand again Ren had pierced his heart with an axe.

"What is the matter squirt? you seem out of it today." Ren noticed.

I looked aside. "It is nothing." I muttered.

He signed and ran his hand through his hair. "Do you have some sealing scrolls with you. I forgot to bring some."

I grabbed in my pouch and threw him two scrolls. "It is weird don't you think."

"Huh?" Ren looked up from the scrolls.

"What were bounty hunters doing so far in Uchiha territory unnoticed?" I folded my arms and looked at their body's.

"Maybe they were sent by someone?" Ren suggested. "I will search their body's for any papers suggesting such."

He turned the body around and searched through the man's pocket's. He got out a scroll and opened it.

"What does it say?" I asked. He activated his sharingan. "BOOM!"

An explosion came out of the scroll and Ren was lying on the ground clutching his head and groaning in pain. "Ren!" I ran to his side and looked at the burns on his face. His eyes were bleeding.

"Yuuki, what is go-. Ren!" Tajima ran towards us and sat beside his son. "Yuuki heal him!" He demanded.

The moment my hands covered his face I noticed I was shaking. I called out the green soothing chakara and started healing him.

"Sir we need to get him to a better healer, I am not good enough to save his eyes." I could feel the distortion of the cells in Ren his eyes, they were burned badly.

Tajima stood up and looked down at me with a straight face."I Will get Maya-san, do not leave his side and do not stop healing him." He ordered and body flickered away.

Slowly more and more people surrounded us. Ren kept groaning in pain and I tried to comfort him with words but I wasn't really good at it. It felt like an eternity when Tajima arrived with Maya.

"Yuuki-san I will take it over from here." Maya her strict voice said.

I stopped pouring the chakara in and pulled my hands back. A feeling of nausea came. I kept looking at Ren. It must have been a complicated seal to go off when an Uchiha looks at it, most likely the work of a seals master. But there weren't any seal specialized clan's in war with the Uchiha, and they didn't have a reason to start one.

I looked around for the scroll and saw it laying a couple feet away. I walked towards it and picked it up careful that there wasn't a second seal on it. The paper was mostly burned away.

"What is that?" Tajima asked.

I turned towards Tajima. "The scroll that caused the explosion."

He held his hand out and I handed him the scroll. He studied it but I don't think he saw anything unusual. "Any suggestions on who might have done this?"

"No sir."

He turned away. "You are dismissed."

I threw the bag of scrolls on the ground and laid down on the couch. I folded my arms under my head and looked at the ceiling.

I couldn't understand why somebody would want to start a war with the Uchiha. It couldn't have been the Senju they suffered great losses on their last battle and battling the Uchiha now would be bad for them. The Uzumaki were a rather peaceful clan and kept themselves out of most wars. The Homura clan were simply to weak, they would be crushed by the Uchiha.

"Why are you covered in blood?" Shisui was hovering over me. I sat up and made place on the couch for him. He got the hint and sat down.

"It is Ren's." I bit the inside of lip. "We were attacked today by two bounty hunters. We wanted to know if they were sent by somebody, they were too far in Uchiha territory. So Ren searched the body and found a scroll and he opened it a-." I stopped talking, the tears were pouring down my face.

Shisui scooted closer to me and put his arm around me. I buried my face in his chest. We stayed like that for a while, it could have been a couple minutes, it could have been a couple hours.

"Kiyomi was worried, she thought you didn't want to be on her birthday. When you weren't home by dinner she wanted to go look for." I smiled that sounded like Kiyomi. "We need to talk."

I pulled myself away from Shisui and looked him in the eyes. "About what?" I asked.

"About Kiyomi's training." I glared at him. "I know you don't like it but she needs to know how to defend herself. If we don't start training her now she will die in her first battle."

"Why do we need to send her anyway? Why can't she become a housewife?" I asked.

Shisui signed and rubbed the space between his eyebrows. "All children are required to join in a year, trained or untrained." I looked at my hands, sometimes I forgot that Shisui was also form the future. It was unfair she was so innocent she couldn't be sent to battle in two years, she is too young. "I will start training her in two days" it was a statement leaving no space for argument.

Shisui stood up and walked away. I didn't know how long I sat like that only that I was awoken the next morning by Kiyomi happily jumping on my bed. Claiming happily that she is going to be a ninja.

I stood in the door opening looking at Ren. His eyes were bandaged and he was facing the ceiling. I knew he was awake, but I simply didn't know what to say. I felt guilty.

"How long are you going to stand like that?" Ren asked turning towards me.

I opened my mouth to say something but decided against it. He was the one to teach me how to perfect my sensory skills.

"It is kinda scary, have you become a stalker squart?" He joked. I smiled and made my way towards the chair next to him.

"In your dreams." I snorted.

"Why did you come?" He asked. A grin slowly made his way towards his face. "scared I might get lonely?" I didn't answer. "Well both of my adorable minions have already visited me, so you shouldn't be worried."

I signed. He always came up with weird nicknames for Izuna and Madara. They would both be furious at hearing them, but Ren always said it was worth it.

"How are your eyes?" I asked scared of what the answer might be.

Ren smiled. "They are going the be fine. I need to keep them bandaged for two weeks and a month of not using my sharingan. There are only going to be some small scars around my eyes because of the burn." I smiled. "Maya-sama said I should be thankful you know medical ninjustu, you might not be the best but if you weren't there I might have lost my eyes." Ren swallowed. "Thank you."

"N-"

"But you were partly the reason I am laying here so, since I am blind go fetch me a cup of tea slave." He said grinning like a Cheshire cat.

I was simply too tired to argue. I stood up. "I am on my way queen." I made my way towards the kitchen. Ren was allowed to stay in his home. I knew my way around it from the many times I came here from when I was little. I didn't come here as often as I used to.

I grabbed the teapot and put some water in it waiting for it to heat. "What are you doing?" a low male voice asked. I looked over my shoulder saw Madara looking back at me. I rarely saw him nowadays and the last time we spoke I was eight or something.

"I am making tea for Ren and me." I answered. I fully turned towards him waiting for his reaction. He closed his eyes.

"Make me also a cup, I will be in Ren's room." He turned away nonchalant and walked away. I think that ordering me around was in Uchiha blood. Nowadays I am either too tired or too smart to go against it.

"Here." I grabbed Ren's hand and put the cup of tea in it.

"Thank you." He muttered. I sat down on the chair again, my own cup of tea in my hand. "Yuu-chan, me and Madara were just discussing his next duo mission." I looked up from my cup of tea wondering why he wanted me to know. "It is an assassination mission near the land a steam. It is a small clan the Itoki, water specialized. The target is the heir of the clan, a man of 16. The head of the clan has fallen ill and can die any day now, killing his only heir would cause uproar in the family and an internal conflict. We get paid 40 000 ryo."

"Why are you telling me all of this, isn't this classified information?" I asked.

Ren shrugged. "I want your opinion, what would you do if you were ordered to do the mission?"

"The Itoki live near a village if I am correct, I would first infiltrate the village as a civilian and study the weakest point of the compound and then decided when is the best time to strike." I looked at Ren seeing if he reacted in any way.

"I still don't agree with your choice aniki." Madara interrupted, I almost forgot he was there.

"Well since I can't go with you and going alone is simply too dangerous, Yuu-chan can go with you. She is extremely fast, her stealth is great and her scouting abilities are formidable. She is perfect for an assassination mission, and a mission like this one is a great way to begin." Ren explained.

"Wait, you want me to go on an assassination mission?" I asked leaning forward towards Ren in disbelief. He knew my beliefs about killing people.

"Yes, and there is no arguing about that. With me unable to lead the squad for a month, Father is again in charge of giving you single missions. It is either this mission or one my father has for you."

"I still don't agree with you aniki! I can handle this mission just fine alone!" Madara made his way out of the room.

"You don't want me getting hurt." It was a statement.

Ren furrowed his eye brows. "What makes you say that."

"Madara can handle this mission just fine alone, you just don't want me getting hurt or your brother. That is why you are sending both of us." I smirked it was rare that I understood the games Ren was playing.

Ren snorted. "As if."

"Sure keep telling yourself that Ren."

Sorry for the long wait, I don't have an excuse simply that I was too lazy. But reviews give me a lot of motivation and I read every single one. A huge thank you goes to: Konoha's missing nin, Joanna Karen Rain, HaPPy2901.
