Just a little idea I had. They're super short, but I might opt to lengthen them into actual book-sized stories sometime in the future.

They're just my idea of what some of the remaining Avengers feelings are.

If you have any suggestions for possible future alternatives/lengthenings, please kindly drop them in my PM box; I don't bite.

~ Thor ~

It was his fault. All of it. Guilt, akin to nothing he'd ever felt before, gnawed at his very being, clawed for a handhold on his throat, and it was all he could do not to give in.

Give in to what?

To despair. Aye, that was it; the unforgiving, unendurable, completely depression driving feeling of absolute despair.

He, Thor Odinson, heir to Asgard, god of thunder, felt as if his heart had been ripped to pieces, and then fired upon by a heavy artillery of ballistae; obviously destroying any possible hope of retrieving the broken pieces.

Gosh, he was wreck. A complete, absolute, total wreck.

No one could help him now.

No one.

~ Captain America/Steve Rogers ~

What had he done wrong? Why couldn't he have saved everyone?

It hurt so bad; gnawing at his vitals.

Why?

What had he done wrong? Where had they messed up?

Bucky.

Bucky had...disintegrated. His best friend, the person who'd been through most every aspect of his life with him...gone.

For what?

What price had been payed? Obviously, no skin had to have been shaved off Thanos' teeth for such a sacrifice. Obviously, he hadn't lost anyone. Obviously, he never considered the lives he would break in two, the agony and destruction he'd cause.

Sam.

Gosh. The man had already been through enough. Suppose they hadn't been cast into oblivion? Suppose...suppose they were cast into some other, semi-conscious world where they could remember, they could feel, they could hurt.

Suppose they were alone. Suppose no one could comfort them. They would be alone, they would have to face every aspect of their pasts...alone.

Isolated.

In darkness.

Such darkness as he felt he were facing. The depressing nothingness of absolutely killing regret.

~ Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff ~

No.

It couldn't be true.

How could this have happened?

True, the world hadn't necessarily been kind to her, but these people weren't the world.

Wanda.

She'd given everything. Everything.

And Vision?

His life, freely given.

Why?

Why must they suffer? Why must she see herself, her friends, break before her eyes?

Such pain.

The guilt. It was unmanageable.

Tony. T'challa.

They must be alive. Somewhere in the universe.

Somewhere, beyond the stars. They couldn't be gone. Not forever.

No.

It would kill her. It would kill her friends...or what remained of them.
